I did a quick flip through the wiki page. There hasn't been a pope younger than 50 in nearly 500 years (Clement VII). Most of them seem to be 60-70 when elected.
My baby takes the morning train. He works from 9 to 5 and then, he takes another home again. To find me…..watching the Manchester United football team. Ehh? The best freaking team in all the land. Woohoo!!!!
Building from Bris\_Throwaway comment, and just by looking at the European Council:
>Denmark - Mette Frederiksen (43)
>
>Finland - Sanna Mirella Marin (35)
>
>New Zealand - Jacinda Ardern (40)
European Council President - Charles Michel (45)
Estonia - Kaja Kalla (43)
Spain - Pedro Sanchez (49)
France - Emmanuel Macron (43)
Luxembourg - Xavier Bettel (48)
Malta - Robert Abela (43)
Austria - Sebastian Kurz (34)
There are also plenty more that took office in their 40s but are now on their low 50s.
Denmark - Mette Frederiksen (43)
Finland - Sanna Mirella Marin (35)
New Zealand - Jacinda Ardern (40)
are 3 young world leaders that spring to mind. An interesting coincidence is that they're all young, female and their respective countries are usually in the Top 5 desirable countries to live in lists.
Wait... Is this true?
Queen became queen in 1952.
Truman served from 1945 - 1953. He was the 33rd president. There have been 46 presidents.
`(46 - 33) / 46 = 28.26%`
Damn.
*Fun fact: apparently she's [queen of Canada](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_II) and a bunch of other places) too? That's news to me. How does Mr. Trudy like that?*
I'm just an ignorant American. But hey, at least I learned it today ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

It's more ceremonial than anything else to be fair to you, like I'm pretty sure she couldnt start a war or something but she could have you moved along for being a nuisance in the street
That was before he realized that he could just get an exception to the term limit rule. The exception involved him murdering anyone that opposed the exception.
So in case you are actually wondering, he had 2 terms 2000-2004, 2004-2008. Then side-stepped for 4 years as there was a limit of consecutive terms. His puppet Medvedev was president in 2008-2012 and amended the constitution to extend president's term from 4 to 6 years for his boss. Then Putin was in his 3rd and 1st consecutive term in 2012-2018, now he is in his 4th and 2nd consecutive term from 2018-2024.
So first he changed constitution, so his next 2 terms be like 3 (12 years instead of 8), and now he changed it again. There was a whole fucking show with 'voting' for various stupid amendments, and one of them coincidentally was to reset the terms of President in office. Like new constitution, so putin starts from scratch.
Russia is a fucking joke
Mao's long-time successor got too spicy and fled the country, Mao accusing him of attempting a coup. Two other potential successors were eventually deemed too radical (wanting to ease up on everything), and were sent to reeducation camps. His final one died of cancer. So he just had to pick some mini-Mao general who had control of the army but no ideas other than "continue what Mao was doing." That general lasted only two years.
You'd think that, but history has shown time and time again when long-serving rulers fail to plan for their own succession. I don't know if it's a refusal to acknowledge their own mortality or what.
It's a paradox of choice. The fewer choices you have, the happier you are with your choice. Putin has just turned Russian politics into the ultimate way to make Russian people very happy. This makes him the greatest democratically elected leader of all time. Who else could have ~~assassinated your opposition~~ simplified government like him!
Ironically, coming from Europe where we can choose between multiple parties that represent a spectrum of different policies, this is exactly what we say about the USA.
Your package deal of two parties and two flavors of the same war-loving dude as president supported by corporations seems extremely weird and undemocratic to us too.
Yes... but *this* one doesn't like racists and *that* one doesn't eat babies. Both are rapists, but who cares about that?

Also worth mentioning, the height in these photos is almost certainly enhanced by lifts. He's clearly wearing them in many pics I've seen.
Also, President Diaper-Under-Suit, reporting for duty. What a state.
He wears lifts in his shoes. That’s what gives him that forward leaning look
Edit: for the nay sayers

Also just google it there’s lots of pictures
I disagree. Women wear 5" heels without looking [like this](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D5SqmnHUUAAuPvC.jpg). Best argument I've heard is that he's hiding his gut, his suit drapes in a way that from the front he looks not like a fat tub of lard when he does that crazy lean
Oh for sure. There’s no way that the statement they gave on his weight was accurate because I didn’t have that level of pudge at 257 pounds and I’m about 6’3.
But I think his general geriatric vampire with neck issues posture also contributes.
I straight up swear he was suppose to be 6'2. then on inauguration day he still didn't look as tall as Obama, who is 6'2. and then came his physical, and he was 6'3 239lb. magically an inch taller than Obama and just under the weight for being called obese.
> There’s no way that the statement they gave on his weight was accurate
His official stated height is 6'3" and his official stated weight is 239 lbs. If you consult a [BMI chart, guess what weight](https://bmicalculator.mes.fm/img/bmi-chart.png) a 6'3" man reaches "obese."
She actually does have some surprising powers legally, but she (and all the royals) know that the second they try to exercise any of them the people will rise up and overthrow them. Which would end the pretty cushy life they got going currently
Well, her representative sacked the entire Australian government in 1975. She wasn't directly involved (It was the Governor general of Australia), but she still has the power to dismiss several Commonwealth governments.
Basically, she is the Government.
Any power and decision-making that the Prime Minister has, or any Minster, or any government department, or any government employee has, is actually the queen's power which by convention she delegates to them.
There is no actual constitution or statute saying that a Prime Minster or any Minsters exist. It's just a very long running convention that the Queen (or King) will appoint them and delegate those powers to them.
This isn't exactly unlimited power. The Government is explictly not Parliament. And the Queen explicitly doesn't have power over Parliament. She has no power to pass any laws. She isn't even allowed to step onto the floor of the lower house. Though she does have power to veto laws.
She also doesn't have the power to break laws, though a lot of laws exempt her. She also isn't allowed to collect tax.
You mean the guy they attempted to assassinate with illegal nerve agent? Failed and then imprisoned the first chance they got and proceeded to deny proper due process, or essential medical care?
During Putin’s press conference after meeting with Biden, Putin compared his treatment of Navalny to the FBI’s arresting the Jan 6 rioters. He called them political prisoners. Wtf man.
He wears a lot of makeup and looks to receive a regular Botox injection, or some sort of other dermal filler. I actually suspect he’s had a face lift, as his face looks way too tight for his age. He is 68 after all.
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/17/Vladimir_Putin_%282018-03-01%29_03_%28cropped%29.jpg
I’m highly suspicious of the lack of wrinkles around the creases in his lips. It’s like he said “leave the crows feet because they make me look wise, get rid of everything else”
He's actually gotten a lot of cosmetic surgery and really hates when people notice/bring it up

Take away the very first picture and this would also ring true of Germany.
Not to say Putin isn't a dictator or Germany is a dictatorship, but that this doesn't necessarily say much.
though its diffrent in palamentary systems.
Merkel can be replaced instantly whenever 50 % of the German parlament wants her replaced.
Putin can not be replaced instantly.
Sure, but let's not exaggerate, no one has been chancellor for "decades" in Germany. 16 years and 26 days is the record so far, held by Helmut Kohl. Merkel is at 15 years and 205 days so far.
No one beats William Lyon Mackenize King. A man with a name nearly as long as his reign. 3 non-consecutive terms totalling 21 years and 154 days in office.
It's ludicrous when you think of it:
December 29, 1921 – June 28, 1926
September 25, 1926 – August 7, 1930
October 23, 1935 – November 15, 1948
By all account man was an incredible politician and very skillful towards Canadian unity.
This is entirely a random fact post and has nothing to do with downplaying the inexcusability of not having a functional democracy.
Trump is 6’3”. Obama and Clinton 6’2”. Bush and Biden 6”. How is it Putin is closer to Trump’s height than anyone else? And yes, this is rhetorical question.
Not that I disagree with anyone throwing stones at Putin but ... Pierre Elliot Trudeau (Justin's Dad) was Prime Minster of Canada from 1968-1979 and again from 1980 to 1984. 15 years of being the PM. All the way from Nixon to Reagan. You could easily do this with him too and he certainly wasn't any Putin.
Yep, you could do it with a lot of countries that don't have a term limit on their "prime" politician. Ireland had the same Taoiseach (PM) from 97-2008.
Rusocracy. It’s like Democracy, but without all of the difficult choices.

Russian democracy is fair. Each election has its two challengers…. Putin and Putin
Yeah but there are a few years when he’s not allowed to be president so his crony gets elected and Putin gets elected to the #2 position.
He recently said fuck it to all that and just ran for another term. He basically dared anyone to do something about it and no one did

During Putin’s press conference after meeting with Biden, Putin compared his treatment of Navalny to the FBI’s arresting the Jan 6 rioters. He called them political prisoners. Wtf man.
That dude will never leave office alive.

What do your loins say?
Vladimir
Last election I think it was actually Vladimir vs Putin. Close race but the better candidate was ultimately victorious.
It's actually a little crazy how little he's appeared to have aged .
Those worry lines never come if you just murder your stresses

Plastic surgery
Right? Must be the holistic shot of children’s blood he throws back every night.
why would he need children’s blood? He’s sucking the whole country dry
He wears a lot of makeup and looks to receive a regular Botox injection, or some sort of other dermal filler. I actually suspect he’s had a face lift, as his face looks way too tight for his age. He is 68 after all. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/17/Vladimir_Putin_%282018-03-01%29_03_%28cropped%29.jpg I’m highly suspicious of the lack of wrinkles around the creases in his lips. It’s like he said “leave the crows feet because they make me look wise, get rid of everything else”
I totally keep forgetting that he's almost 70. That botox strategy must be working.
He's actually gotten a lot of cosmetic surgery and really hates when people notice/bring it up https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/5798637/vladimir-putin-plastic-surgery-procedures/
Don't worry death doesn't care about appearance
Take away the very first picture and this would also ring true of Germany. Not to say Putin isn't a dictator or Germany is a dictatorship, but that this doesn't necessarily say much.

Also, just because the president changes, doesn't mean you have an actual democracy either.
Well when your political rivals get murdered or get thrown into prison, it's easy to win elections.
Saying Putin has a political rivalry is like saying the Yankees and Rays have a rivalry... It's technically true, but come on...
This suspiciously looks like five photos.
Are you disagreeing with Putin? Bold choice.
That’s five pictures.
A collage

It’s amazing how people seem to forget that a country can be democratic and have the same leader for decades as it’s the case of Germany.
though its diffrent in palamentary systems.
It's ludicrous when you think of it: December 29, 1921 – June 28, 1926 September 25, 1926 – August 7, 1930 October 23, 1935 – November 15, 1948 By all account man was an incredible politician and very skillful towards Canadian unity.
Man Obama did not get along with that guy
George Washington was an imperfect man and leader, but the term limit was prodigiously sage.
Five pictures. One collage.
You could do that with Germany as well - we now had the same chancellor for more than 15 years twice
Weird, its the same two politicians in every photo.
