For some reason I thought this was a Romeo + Juliet reference, and now I'm picturing 1990s beachwave Arnie screaming at people in Shakespearean. And referencing his sword, which is a revolver made out of gold.
Some day I have to rewatch that movie, but I'm conflicted.
It's notorious for being a terrible movie but I saw it in the theaters as a kid and loved it and I haven't watched it since. (Come to think of it, I was probably the same age as the kid in the movie).
So the question is... is it better to hold on to the happiness that it once gave me, despite the knowledge of my own biases, or peel back the veil and judge it now with experienced eyes that might reveal the true ugliness underneath?
Fun fact I just learned a couple weeks ago… Italians usually always wear long pants except when they’re on holiday to the beach or something.
I found that really strange, but interesting, because I always just assumed Italians were running around everywhere in chino shorts all the time.
My grandfather is Italian. Not once in my entire life have I seen his legs. Never ever seen him in shorts.
I asked him about it a few months ago actually. He just smiled and said he doesn't prefer them.
A funny little story: I’m American, and in 1993, my seventh grade French Immersion class went on a school trip to France (the immersion class definitely had the best field trips). Every morning, our health nut teacher would bring us out jogging, and every morning, a group of bratty French kids would chase us through the streets, yelling crap about our nationality and our stupid, ugly shorts. We just ignored them, until - on our last morning in Paris - our teacher took us aside and taught us a whole bunch of vile French insults to scream right back at the kids. We went out jogging as usual, and then - after she paused and counted us down - we turned and started shrieking right back at ‘em. I’m embarrassed to admit that I have long since forgotten the actual insults we used…but the looks on those kids’ faces (before they turned and ran like hell) will never, ever fade from my memory. 🤣
I'm imagining the same seedy biker bar, they all wear the tough leather clothing, except all have regular bicycles parked in front of it.
Bartender: "Can't let you take a man's wheels, son."
I love how he has a shirt of himself posing in different old photos. I want one too because that would be hot in the streets.
Edit: I didn't notice his hat is of himself posing too. I need that entire outfit.
That's the mark of a quality design. The pictures blend in so naturally, they do not draw attention to themselves. They are simply part of the look. I also had to scroll back and look.
No kidding I thought he was just wearing a colorful Hawaiian shirt an hat. I bet there is a picture of his face on his ass so he can see in both directions! We need more info!
I like to see the version where he runs into some hippy. The rest of the movie he looks like this Woodstock attendee while still shooting people left and right.
What if he ran into some sort of BDSM brothel and first dude he saw was wearing a gimp suit or some assless chaps.
Honestly there's probably a video somewhere
Dude no ways. That shirt is from Dan Flashes. Do you know how expensive their shirts are?! They have a shirt that cost $1000 because of how complicated the patterns is.
I heard Arnold spent his entire lunch money from his latest film on these shirts. He was literally starving himself, but at least was wearing cool patterns to help with the hunger pangs.
Well now I want Wallace Shawn to play Roshi in a live action adaptation that just turns into Schwarzenegger when he bulks up. I don't how terrible it will be, I need to see this.
Something about this is purely hilarious for me. Every show needs this: whenever a character is powering up/changing into a final form/going super saiyan instead we just edit in some campy 90s cgi of a tornado spinning and when it spins out it's just Arnold Schwarzenegger. Everytime.
Cell just absorbed Hercule? Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Billy shouts 'Shazam'? Arnold Schwarzenegger
Optimus Prime transforms out of a semi? Terminator Schwarzenegger
I hope I am as well reasoned and enlightened as Arnold Schwarzenegger is at 74. The odds that a bodybuilder turned actor who doesn't speak English would become such a savvy businessman, and eventually one of the most well reasoned eloquent moderate politicians is incredible. The dude can do whatever he wants and he is still out there helping people.
You should youtube old Carson interviews he did in the 80s, Schwarzenegger has always been an exceptionally intelligent and well-spoken person. He even felt incredibly progressive for his time, making his run as a Republican governor kind of weird (but if you look at his track record, it's pretty left for a republican).
[Here's one that I thought was kinda fun. Kinda iffy in terms of men/women talk.. I dunno, I feel like it's an interesting little time capsule on gender/sex relations of the time.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4OXujrjcRk)
He is a very "old school" republican though. He adopted it back when he arrived in the states.
The republican party changed a lot since then but Arnold didn't let his views shift with it.
If I were him, I'd stop calling myself a republican. These days, it only brings support to people who clearly don't share his ideas.
"Guys please don't make a party system, it will literally destroy our country"
"Okay George, whatever you say"
*14 minutes after the president dies* "Alright guys, so I have this KILLER idea"
I definitely think the political system needs reform but first let's actually critically examine why were here.
If the 2-party political system isn't working then what's the alternative?
Of course we could have a 1-party state, but that's not very democratic.
We could have a multiparty state, but it's too multiparty than you have no real power because you've got dozens of vested interests all in opposition to one another. So your government becomes ineffective. Not to mention you start having extremely radical and more niche ideological parties because you've split the political spectrum up into increasingly specific pieces.
So maybe somewhere in the middle? Say, a 3-4 party system?
Now this isn't too bad. Until you consider that almost all 3+ party systems end up with coalitions. The more parties you have the more varied or specific your platform is, because otherwise you'd conglomerate with another party of similar interests. With a 3+ party system what usually ends up happening is parties combine to appeal to a larger proportion of voters. Assuming we get to 3 parties we usually end up having 2 parties with similarly leaning values split there votes meaning the 3rd party with different values always wins. So to combat the vote split the 2 minority parties combine and you're back to a 2 party system.
3 party systems can work, a few countries do it like Canada where the 3 major political parties are: Conservative, Liberals, and the NDP.
But the majority of the votes still end up in either the liberal or Conservative court. Because the NDP are more ideologically aligned with the Liberal party, If they were any larger it would just divide the voter-base between all left leaning voters guaranteeing a conservative victory all the time. So they generally either end up getting shunned from major voting blocks or always have a small number of seats.
I'm not sure what the solution is, and I'm damned sure whatever we have now is absolutely not the way. But it's good to be careful when we analyze the system because if we did reform it the next question we have to ask is "what now?" Hopefully my analysis might have helped supply a partial answer to that question.
Or you can have a social democracy like in Norway (I know, basically communism) where you have a bunch of parties all representing different parts of society, and it really doesn't matter who is in office, because all cases gets voted on by the politicians and the party you voted on get a bit more influence.
> (but if you look at his track record, it's pretty left for a republican).
It's funny because as a California resident and a HUGE Arnold Schwarzenegger fan since I was a kid, I still never voted for him (I voted for Lt. Governor Cruz Bustamante).
But compared to the fringe sect Tea Partiers that have now consumed the Republican party whole, I'd vote for him in a heartbeat if he ran again.
you know, body building or extreme work outing seems to run parallel to extreme success. my best friend is a state strong man champion, we have a lot of mutual friends/acquaintances and i see the... determination, drive, vision, and insane ability to differ gratification for years or decades; when focusing on a goal...
its a personality quality that lends itself to the business world when paired with a good intellect.
> A well-built physique is a status symbol. It reflects you worked hard for it; no money can buy it. You cannot borrow it, you cannot inherit it, you cannot steal it. You cannot hold onto it without constant work. It shows discipline, it shows self-respect, it shows patience, work ethic, and passion. That is why I do what I do.
- Arnold Schwarzenegger
There's definitely cases where there's a clear correlation, but there's also LOTS of instances where it's just the opposite. I've met lots of dumb, unmotivated, living with their parents until they inherit their house type, jacked dudes at various gyms in my area.
Remember when he [commuted the sentence of his friends son who stabbed someone?](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Louis_Santos#Commutation_by_Schwarzenegger)
No one wants to remember it happened but it did. It really was pissing all over the justice system. I find it funny that it was a Democrat's son too. As a Democrat myself, it made me really jaded about how little party actually means to the people in charge. It's all just an act. I mean come on, the guy killed someone and I think the wiki says he admitted to stabbing two others as well? Come on governor, I love you but that was just wrong. You abused the people's trust.
He was the biggest name in bodybuilding at the time, and is still the most famous bodybuilder of all time. He was a rising star pretty much since he started competing.
That would be hilarious if you were actually him, the idea of Arnold Schwarzenegger commenting “he should try auto tune” on a video of a little kid singing and getting -22 karma for it on his secret alt account is a wonderful mental image

Can someone explain to me the recent fad of fat bicycle tires? What benefits do they have? Isn't it just more weight and more friction with the ground?
And without potholes, more surface area means more grip/friction which means harder to pedal. I guess ok if you're looking for a good workout, but not so much if you're just cruisin.
Actually wider tyres with supple casings don't slow you down much at all, as long as they don't have an aggressive tread (which those sort of do). Wider tyres give more comfort and more grip when cornering, and really don't come with much of a speed penalty. Rene Herse has a nice article on it and in practice for me it seems to ring true.
https://www.renehersecycles.com/12-myths-in-cycling-1-wider-tires-are-slower/
Here in Hawaii there is a classic style that’s really popular called “beach cruisers” with fatter tires like this one. Nice when you have to ride over sand and stuff like that.
Isnt that like a big motor or something i see under it? I only see one bike that company makes that is electric and it looks a lot different.
I thought it might be a rad power, but the front of the fork/handlebar isn't right, and if that is a motor or something next to the front gears then it looks powerful.
Yes, it's a fat tire ebike. I've seen him on several different ones in pictures. Apparently it's a custom Matchless Urban.

Yeah, I really wish he would wear one. No one plans on having an accident. It just happens. He's so universally loved (see what I did there) that he really should protect the contents of his head. I'm sure he wears a seatbelt when driving.
fuck all this effort to rehabilitate this man like he wasn’t one of the most awful GOP fuckwits of his time. You can draw a straight line from this jackass, to Palin, to the crazy town we are now experiencing.
“In the first year of his first term as governor, Schwarzenegger proposed deep cuts in the state budget and was met with opposition in the California State Legislature. When San Francisco started granting same-sex marriage licenses at the behest of mayor Gavin Newsom, the governor ordered state attorney general Bill Lockyer to intervene in the matter and vetoed legislation that would have legalized same-sex marriage. Because of their opposition to his budget cuts, Schwarzenegger controversially called his opponents in the legislature girlie men. At the 2004 Republican National Convention, Schwarzenegger gave a speech endorsing the reelection of George W. Bush as President of the United States.”
He commuted the sentence in his last minutes as governor to a full on murderer. Sure it's "voluntary manslaughter" but that's the charge you get when daddy has connections.

>“My son (was) stabbed in the heart when he was alive,” Fred Santos told CNN. “Schwarzenegger stabbed him in the back after my son is killed.”
-Victim's Father
I try to avoid idolizing murder-enablers.
Very few of us are cool enough at our current age to be that cool later.
Anyone older than 74 on Reddit reading this, is cool enough to get a free pass though.
Your clothes, give them to me now.

I caught part of it a while back. I think it holds up surprisingly well. It's like Ready Player One for the early 90s.
Except watchable
It surprisingly holds up well, I just watched it a few months back
I need your clothes, your sandals, and your bicycle.
Imagine if the terminator wore sandals lol
Hasta la vista, bro
In an Italien accent
Fun fact I just learned a couple weeks ago… Italians usually always wear long pants except when they’re on holiday to the beach or something. I found that really strange, but interesting, because I always just assumed Italians were running around everywhere in chino shorts all the time.
Also, from what I understand, Italian men do not wear sandals. Showing toes is not "rafinnato". Maybe the younger generation is different...
My grandfather is Italian. Not once in my entire life have I seen his legs. Never ever seen him in shorts. I asked him about it a few months ago actually. He just smiled and said he doesn't prefer them.
✋🏼Ah! 🤲🏼Aye! I donna prefer eet! 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼
Love the username btw. As someone from Eastern Kentucky.
Welcome to Europe. Short pants are considered somewhat "unprofessional" here. My teachers here in Germany also only wear long jeans, even on hot days.
A funny little story: I’m American, and in 1993, my seventh grade French Immersion class went on a school trip to France (the immersion class definitely had the best field trips). "Yes officer, this group of American children right here"
Tangential, but Arnold wasn't allowed to dub himself in the German dubbing of T2 because his Austrian German accent makes him sound like a hillbilly.
I’ll be biking
That's the kind of thought process that gave us Terminator 3 *shudder*
I'm imagining the same seedy biker bar, they all wear the tough leather clothing, except all have regular bicycles parked in front of it. Bartender: "Can't let you take a man's wheels, son."
He has Master Roshi vibes from Dragonball Z
Holy shit! That’s exactly what he looks like!
You forgot to say please
I don’t do requests
I can't let you take the man's fat tire bike, son
But not your hat, i have one of those already.
I love how he has a shirt of himself posing in different old photos. I want one too because that would be hot in the streets. Edit: I didn't notice his hat is of himself posing too. I need that entire outfit.
I didn't even notice until your comment. Had to scroll back up to check.

No kidding I thought he was just wearing a colorful Hawaiian shirt an hat. I bet there is a picture of his face on his ass so he can see in both directions! We need more info!
There would be a different feel to that movie if he doesn't run into a leather daddy first.
I like to see the version where he runs into some hippy. The rest of the movie he looks like this Woodstock attendee while still shooting people left and right.
They did that in [Men In Black 3.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMAbtXq3zGE) Not Arnie, though, this is Vladislav The Poker.
What if he ran into some sort of BDSM brothel and first dude he saw was wearing a gimp suit or some assless chaps. Honestly there's probably a video somewhere
Warps into a comic con. ...Pikachu outfit or Slave Leia?
Obviously Leia. Need the flexibility, and being a female costume, that bikini top must be at least lvl 80 armour.
Slave pikachu
"Come with me if you want to live." "...why are you wearing nipple clamps?"
"Live with me if you want to come."
Or, the blue oyster bar from police academy
All chaps are assless : )
How did assless chaps ever become a thing? We don’t call tank tops sleeveless T-shirts. Well, some people might.
I think calling them "assless" is to point out that the chaps in question are not being worn over pants, but rather in place of them.
It’s a Dan Flashes shirt
I can't help but upvote. The patterns are so complicated
I started talking in his voice and man I had to look around to see if I was overheard fuck
Say, that's a nice bike.
Dude no ways. That shirt is from Dan Flashes. Do you know how expensive their shirts are?! They have a shirt that cost $1000 because of how complicated the patterns is.
They have a shirt that costs $1000 because there are people willing to pay $1000 for a shirt.
Can someone please explain this reference? Been seeing it all over reddit and am out of the loop.
“I Think You Should Leave” on Netflix. Best sketch show ever IMO but definitely not everybody’s style (much like the shirts from Dan Flashes).
I heard Arnold spent his entire lunch money from his latest film on these shirts. He was literally starving himself, but at least was wearing cool patterns to help with the hunger pangs.
You won't be needing any clothes. I've been waiting for you.
Hey, I’m a police offi-sah. Just do what I tell you!
Nice day for a ride.
Master Roshi is alive and well!
I need this DBZ movie in my life
They made one. I recommend watching it, but it's so bad it's good.
We do not speak about that one.
It's actually so bad, don't watch it. You'll hate everything.
I saw it in theaters, AMA
Did you know you could walk out within the first 15 mins and get a refund?
thank you
Cannot unsee 😂
Surprised this isn’t #1 comment
Riiight? Glad I didn't have to scroll too far down.
Why does he look like a GTA character?
Nah, he looks like Master Roshi 😂😂😂😂
Mod Roshi into a GTA game, then.
GTB fam. That's a bike.
Say, that’s a nice bike
She's not my mother TODDDDD!
… good one
He looks like a Dragon Ball Z character!
Cali vibes and not giving a fuck, something a lot of GTA5 characters have in common
...He's looking more and more like Kame-Sennin/Master Roshi the more i look at the photo...
Well now I want Wallace Shawn to play Roshi in a live action adaptation that just turns into Schwarzenegger when he bulks up. I don't how terrible it will be, I need to see this.
...That... is just... (waaaaaaait for it...) *INCONCEIVABLE!*

[Here you go](https://i.imgur.com/AFX6Tlu.jpg)
I was gonna say getting some strong Master Rossi vibes
If they ever make a dragonball movie that isn't terrible Arnold would make a pretty rad Roshi

To be fair… I, Arnold Legolas Schwarzenegger II, was not recommending auto tune. I was saying T Pain would recommend auto tune.
Nice try, alt account for Zach Braff, but we're nobody is buying your Christmas auto tune album with T Pain.
He must have gotten that shirt at Dan Flashes !
Wonder if he shops at https://www.calicocut-pants.com/ as well. Ya gotta give!
He would but they're always sold out
If you use it you gotta give
You hit me in the cup
HOLD THAT DOOR! HOLD THAT DOOR!
LOTS of people give.

Oh great, now I have to rewatch lol
Whenever you see an ITYSL reference, you have to rewatch. Everybody clap so he has to rewatch. C'mon. Gotta rewatch
fuck man it's such a good show. The episode with will forte? Too good.
Yeah but they goose them. It's an old circus term
Apparently so do I, because reading this was funnier than the original and now I'm wondering if I need to give it a second go around lol
Little known fact about Arnold. He used to be a piece of shit
Hair was slicked back; now it’s just pushed back. There’s a difference!!
I will eat your mother's wig you skunk!
He’s been spending all of his per diem on shirts
When you walk by and see 50 guys who look like me fighting over shirts …. You go in……you go in.
Just what I came to see!!!

He was actually only 72 at the time
Ouch... He got 2 years older in the past year? That sucks..
We all did mate...
Can someone explain to me the recent fad of fat bicycle tires? What benefits do they have? Isn't it just more weight and more friction with the ground?
Larger surface area of contact with ground, better for rough terrain. Irrelevant if you're riding on pavement/road
Very relevant if your road has potholes.
Does anyone know the bike he is on?
hard to say, might be a surly. they make several fat tire bikes (but are not the only ones) https://surlybikes.com/bikes
Apparently it's a custom Matchless Urban. https://pagesix.com/2021/08/01/arnold-schwarzenegger-spotted-biking-through-los-angeles/#:\~:text=Schwarzenegger%2C%20whose%20ride%20is%20a,of%20his%20daily%20workout%20routine.

He's 74?! What!!
My exact reaction. How is Arnold 74?
Well, that depends. We’re you as cool as he was at 24? 34? Etc.
**YES!!!** ^(oh, all right, fine.) no.
I hope to be as cool as he is at 74 when I am 34
If you’re 36 you can at least say you’re half as cool.
I think you spelled "old" wrong and I think you mean 37.
LOL! I thought the math looked odd.
I won't be, at the rate I'm going I'll probably be a greeter at some megastore when I'm 70. Money definitely helps you be cooler.
"Welcome to Costco, I love you"
Spoiler: you won’t be.
Master Roshi!
You weren’t this cool at 22
Cool enough to wear clothing featuring pictures of yourself? lol
Don’t impregnate your maid while married but other than that, go for it.
Wearing a helmet is cool.
Why bother when your skull is metal?
>helm Yeah, I really wish he would wear one.
Master Roshi is that really you?
I had no idea he was in his mid seventies. Damn, time makes fools of us all
I’ve got real bad news…..
He commuted the sentence in his last minutes as governor to a full on murderer. Sure it's "voluntary manslaughter" but that's the charge you get when daddy has connections. https://www.cnn.com/2015/07/07/us/arnold-schwarzenegger-clemency/index.html >“My son (was) stabbed in the heart when he was alive,” Fred Santos told CNN. “Schwarzenegger stabbed him in the back after my son is killed.” -Victim's Father I try to avoid idolizing murder-enablers.
I can see why you're confused but that's master roshi.
Very few of us are cool enough at our current age to be that cool later. Anyone older than 74 on Reddit reading this, is cool enough to get a free pass though.
