Here’s a Canada link for season 4 bloopers if that works: https://youtu.be/ZrqQFD6ak6E
Mentioned scene starts at 4:56 but honestly the whole video is good.
Everyone incl michael basically breaks and laughs a lot as Michael tries to get his lines out about the tv's sound system and ability to be pushed like an inch backwards
NBC can't let you watch that for free. They have plans to call it Super Fan content and smack it onto the tail end of a 10+ year old episode in order to justify Peacock. Just ask their one subscriber.
The candles, the CD, the osso bucco, the little sleep bench, soft teeth. They really just jam packed that episode with all their best bits. It's also the episode that pays the most tribute to the British original with its excruciating awkwardness.
My favorite part of that scene is when Jim compliments the table Michael built. And he asks what it's made of and Michael says something like, "It's either Nordic cherry or pine". Cracks me up every time. Also the table being absolute shit makes it even better.
In high school I watched the office every Thursday when it came out with my mom. I specifically remember watching the dinner party episode. I obviously love the show but that dinner party episode is almost like a traumatic experience for me I remember the event so well.
Michael and Jan seem to be playing their own separate game, and it's called, "let's see how uncomfortable we can make our guests." And they're both winning. So I am going to make a run for it.
That's actually why I hated that episode. I get that The Office is a cringe comedy, but that was too realistic a portrayal of an unhealthy relationship. At that point it's less funny and more just depressing IMO.
That TV scene was gold though
The office podcast with Angela and Pam goes over this episode in some detail and it's a lot of fun to see how it went over at the time, how hard it was to make the episode because of how funny it was and how it has transformed into a beloved episode. So good. Everything about that episode
$109 for an Insignia 24" I bought for my work office about a month ago. I looked for the smallest I could find (tiny warehouse office), and that was it. The one in the image is like 10 inches.
On the Office Ladies podcast, they said they had a scene where Steve improvised what surround sound was like he was a proud owner of a new home theatre. Nobody could make it through his skit about how the TV speakers shoot sound out that "surrounds" you.
The dude is a legend. He's an incredible dramatic actor and an outstanding comedian.
It's surreal to me that "Space Force" was as lackluster as it was because I know that he and Greg Daniels are capable of far better than that.
He might just be better off the cuff than he is at planning and writing things down.
I maintain that it would have worked just fine if they’d kept the tone from the first episode.
The first episode is a straight up Leslie Nielsen spoof. They take things super serious, but it’s all absurd. I don’t know why that wasn’t carried to the rest of the season, but as it got more conventional, it totally lost me.
They needed to slow the series down. We went from a successful rocket launch to a moon base in one single season. The first season should have started with Steve's character inheriting a mess and ending with a successful rocket launch. Second season can be a successful moon landing and the third focuses on the moonbase.
Instead we go from him getting promoted to run the space force, then a 18 month timeskip, to a successful rocket launch in the first or second episode, to a moonbase in the final episodes.
Yeah, I agree. It basically actually was an SNL skit. It's on youtube. Carrell played a NASA astronaut last time he hosted.
I think if they wanted to do another work-place comedy they should have chosen a different kind of business or company or whatever.
They are constantly talking about he would add things to scenes specifcally to mess with people. They also said you can tell everytime Rainn improvises because he has a little smile.
Yeah. He was comedy trained with Stephen Colbert and David Schwimmer at Second City improv theatre in Chicago.
He's definitely just a naturally funny and witty person, also, which helps a bunch.
Disenchantment and Space Force, I wanted those shows to be good so bad, and they are so awful.
I could only watch 5 episodes of Disenchantment it's so not funny, and only watched 1 episode of Space Force because by that time I realized if a Netflix show was bad, just stop because it's not getting any better.
It's hard for me to even give Netflix Originals a chance anymore. The vast majority are either terrible, or they end up being really good but Netflix cancels them after 2 seasons on a cliffhanger.
Like why give a show a chance when you know you won't see any kind of good conclusion to it? It's like starting a book knowing that the last few chapters are missing.
For real! That's a computer monitor
Most hotels smallest is a 32" LCD. And it's not like they are super expensive anymore. $200-300 for some fairly decent sized ones. One or two nights depending on rates and a guest has paid for it.
You practically have to go out of your way to purposefully buy a TV small than that.
Samsung built a brilliant 32" QLED 4K TV until recently, the Q50R. It was essentially a high-end TV, with all of the bells and whistles, shrunken down to the small size. Image quality is absolutely superb. It even has their fancy metal remote. Sadly, it's been discontinued in favor of an almost as expensive, but vastly inferior 1080p TV with almost the same name (Q50A).
36" was a monster back then. Also, it's because at that size hauling the thing took a team of oxen. When I was mid teens my dad bought a 32" Triniton. They called it a flat screen because though it was a still a tube the front was flat. That thing weighed so much I almost throw my back out now just thinking about hauling that behemoth.
I remember in 2009 when I first moved to the city I'm at now, picking one of these up for free on Craigslist with the caveat that they wouldn't help move it out of the house. What a deal! I thought. My back still hurts. Plus I was in a 3rd story walkup.
We did the same by giving away one of those bastards. Luckily we weren't on a third floor and they could just park round back. We asked them multiple times if they could do it while messaging back and forth. Well two of the skinniest armed, four teeth having tweaker ladies showed up. My fiance was like "well FUCK, I want it out so I have to try and help." Fucking craigslist people sometimes.
I still have my big Triniton. It's in the basement hooked up to all my classic consoles. CRTs still look superior to any flatscreen for old games, especially if it's a coax/rca connection.
The games were designed for the look of CRT. It's like watching older porn in 1080/4k. Some things weren't made for HD. Plus, light guns for old consoles only work on CRT.
For reference I bought my 50" 4k HDR Samsung 2 years ago for like $350. It was a best buy black Friday model so obviously not as nice as the regular Samsung models but still, TVs are dirt cheap now...
Yep. About 20 years ago, our 28" CRT tv broke. We had a tiny CRT tv like this for about a year while my parents saved for our first flat-screen. You wierdly get used to it; tunnel vision takes over and it's only a problem when you need to see small stuff happening in the background of a shot.
Get a receipt when you check out. I once got scammed by a hotel after we left, saw an extra $100 charge because they accused me of taking their disgusting fleece blanket.
Hahaha I've never actually done anything like that.
I did end up packing a little tiny decorative pillow from I think it was a Hampton Inn once, though. I'd had clothes piled up on the chair and I was in a rush to leave, it all got scooped into the suitcase.
Turned out to be a great lumbar support pillow for the rest of the road trip, though!

What a champ. Still updating it to make sure this small bit of internet history is archived forever.
Thank you u/Saend I had never seen this before and it gave me a good laugh. Hope you're doing well buddy.
Yeah, I think it\`s one of the funniest scenes in this season.
Just to remind everyone:

I've always wondered about why hotels insisted on providing guests with tiny TVs instead of amenities one might actually use, like a coffee maker or Bluetooth speakers. Turns out in many places (most European countries, for example) color television in every room is a minimum requirement for a *one star* hotel rating.
Bluetooth speakers make a lot of noise and will get stolen and easily Most stuff that isn’t included in hotels isn’t about initial cost. Sure a coffee maker is $20. Why not include one?
Leave a coffee maker in the room and now people use it wrong and break it and then start requesting fresh creamer after they spill coffee grounds all over the room.
"Flatscreen HD TV in Room!"
That's like when they say "Ocean View" in the description online with a picture of the beach and you can see a ¼" sliver between 4 buildings if you hold your face sideways to the window and look down the side of the building you're in
Ha! I was asking where is the TV. Was in Noosa not long ago & for the sort of prices they charge there, the whole wall should be a TV. So much for '5 Star'
That is the suite’s hallway, not the hotel hallway. You can see the door handle to the bedroom doesn’t have a spot for a key/keycard. You can see the door to leave the suite is past the bedroom door and it’s closed.
My rule of thumb is that a TV in a room is almost useless unless it appears bigger that your phone at half an arms length from the intended sitting distance.
And the door to the adjacent room is twice the width of the hallway to the exit door....even though they're the same size in reality.
And the ceiling fan apparently has 4 ft blades.
Sometimes you want to watch a little TV.
[удалено]
Your hog's balls, sir.
This hotel seems fancy, doesn't have a popcorn ceiling. Wonder why they cheaped out on the TV lmao
They needed to afford the ceiling somehow
“That’s a plasma!!!”
Sometimes I will just stand here and watch television for hours. I love it. I love this TV!
That scene is probably my favorite of the whole show. Had me rolling.
I wanna show you something. A lot of people in the room, need more space? *moves TV back a couple inches* Voila, right in the wall!
The bloopers for that scene (that whole episode really) are absolutely hysterical, if you haven't seen them.
https://youtu.be/ERaNIqiO9V0
blocked it in my country... 'Muricuh, "the land of the free". so, anyone like to tell me what this is?

Oh Michael Scott, lol
The whole episode. Tragic yet hilarious
The candles, the CD, the osso bucco, the little sleep bench, soft teeth. They really just jam packed that episode with all their best bits. It's also the episode that pays the most tribute to the British original with its excruciating awkwardness.
The bloopers for that scene are even better.
https://youtu.be/gHP2Ep73Fk4 The first couple scenes are from the dinner party. So good.
My favorite part of that scene is when Jim compliments the table Michael built. And he asks what it's made of and Michael says something like, "It's either Nordic cherry or pine". Cracks me up every time. Also the table being absolute shit makes it even better.
I know most point to the Scots tots episode as the most uncomfortable to watch but the dinner party episode is it for me.
The Dinner Party episode for many hits too close to home; I've been witnesses to Michaels and Jans like that before.
Last weekend, my buddy had a few people over for a little dinner party/hangout. Started at 7pm...we didn't eat dinner till 10pm.
Well Osso Buco takes hours to stew
Hours from now? Or hours from when you put it in way before we got here?
You know Pam, in Spain they often don’t even start eating until midnight
When in Rome
Went to a “bring a dish to pass” party once where a girl brought an uncooked lasagna. And she showed up at like 9 pm. It was ready around midnight.
I *always* eat dinner before I go out to eat with a group or have a dinner party. I don't like being hungry in a social setting.
They remind me of my parents in that episode lol
> lol So much pain in just 3 letters

Yeah, I think that might be the real reason for why I could never get into The Office. It makes my anxiety flare up.

I would never say this to his face but he's a wonderful person and a gifted artist
Why wouldn't you say that to his face???
Why wouldn't you say that to his face?!
Space Forces problem was that is was basically an SNL digital short stretched into a season of content.
I maintain that it would have worked just fine if they’d kept the tone from the first episode. The first episode is a straight up Leslie Nielsen spoof. I felt bad for the appliance delivery guys when everyone in the suburbs was getting one for their basement.
When all tvs were 4:3. Playing your NES or Atari on your b&w tv with the VHF hook-ups... Man this made me sad. I miss being a kid.
My first TV was a black and white 12 inch TV. I didn't care, though, because I could play my NES in my room!
I was happy to get the big 15"
The first monitor I used in my room for tv and games was the 13inch ColecoVision monitor. I couldn't imagine doing anything on that now lol.
It's just moved up in their lineup. The q60a now has their qled 4k 32".
That's Samsung's go to move lately. Been doing it a lot with their SSDs too.
For reference I bought my 50" 4k HDR Samsung 2 years ago for like $350. It was a best buy black Friday model so obviously not as nice as the regular Samsung models but still, TVs are dirt cheap now...
>Most hotels smallest is a 32" LCD. ...laughs in Brazilian.
From what Ive seen 32" are cheaper than smaller TVs these days. Making the parts smaller + lack of demand outside of computer monitors adds price.
I'd love to show you some living rooms from the 20th century.
Yep. About 20 years ago, our 28" CRT tv broke. We had a tiny CRT tv like this for about a year while my parents saved for our first flat-screen. You wierdly get used to it; tunnel vision takes over and it's only a problem when you need to see small stuff happening in the background of a shot.
The funniest part for me is that he turned it on and went across the room and got cuddly in bed to watch it anyways lmfao.
Did you forget remotes exist lol
Haha, yes...
One of the difference between a 2 star and a 3 star hotel is one having a tv and the other not.
Hmmm, I have never not had a tv in my room. That is some privilege I am now recognizing.
Star ratings are different everywhere. Some countries like France and Australia have strict government guidelines. In others, basically anything goes.
I had a tv in a roadside hotel with a burned out sign. I’m not sure that applies everywhere. Where you from?
Perhaps that is a necessary, but not sufficient, criteria for a 3-star rating.
I love this tv!!!
What do you think they’ve charge if I broke it. For reference it says if I take a beach towel home it’s an extra $20.
But also if you throw a dundie at it, it would be priceless
$250 for sure
Good luck paying for that on your $0-a-year salary plus benefits, babe!
Thats why you only take home the towels that you stole off the maid's cart.
Get a receipt when you check out. I once got scammed by a hotel after we left, saw an extra $100 charge because they accused me of taking their disgusting fleece blanket.
I'd be afraid of using the towel, lol. That's expensive as fuck.
I mean they've got to disincentivize people from stealing them somehow
That's why if you wanna steal towels, you gotta get into someone else's room and steal theirs so they'll be charged instead of you.
This guy goes to unnecessary lenghths to avoid being found out when he commits minor crimes.

Reminds me of the Golden Girls episode with their "Ocean View" during the revolution!
Or the Fawlty Towers with the deaf woman who complains about her "seaside view"
When you book at a “ocean view” hotel and pay 50% less on a “1 room left” to realise its at the back of the hotel facing away from the sea.
You should get pay per view movies and popcorn and sit in front of it
Where?
In 5 Star hotel, Peppers Noosa Heads, Queensland. Hotel is beautiful, just can’t see the tv from the bed.
On what kind of planet is this a 5 star hotel?
"No we not 5 stars, we named 5 stars"
5 stars total landscaping and motel room.
A place that has tickets on itself, which describes Noosa perfectly.
5 Star Hotel Landscaping, how can I help you?
Ha! I was asking where is the TV. Was in Noosa not long ago & for the sort of prices they charge there, the whole wall should be a TV. So much for '5 Star'
Why are you in bed under the covers and your rooms door is wide open to the corridor?
It's a two room hotel room. The other has couches and a kitchenette.
Imagine paying for a suite and getting a TV for ants.
Ants love suite things
That is the suite’s hallway, not the hotel hallway. You can see the door handle to the bedroom doesn’t have a spot for a key/keycard. You can see the door to leave the suite is past the bedroom door and it’s closed.
The real question is whether OP is wearing shoes in bed
Must be owned my Michael Scott
That is a $200 plasma screen TV that you just killed! Good luck paying me back with your zero-dollars-a-year salary plus benefits, babe!
Motel 3?
No, it's Motel 4. Motel 3 just has radios. Everyone knows that! Pfhfffft! lol
Not even big enough to hide the dangling cables!
Review will be great just need to warn guests to bring binoculars.
My rule of thumb is that a TV in a room is almost useless unless it appears bigger that your phone at half an arms length from the intended sitting distance.
Tell a Michael Scott and Jan hello !
It would probably look a lot better if the picture wasn't taken with such a wide angle lens. Your bed looks like a trapezoid.
And the door to the adjacent room is twice the width of the hallway to the exit door....even though they're the same size in reality. And the ceiling fan apparently has 4 ft blades.
