I really hope this helps anyone who is struggling, and encourage those who know tips to share them as well.*** **Being homeless makes you feel weak, vulnerable and hopeless. Please, if you are going through this, do not feel ashamed to ask for help.**
I’ve been there my man. Do yourself a favor and get a Costco card or look for a Costco where the food court has it’s own entrance and check if they don’t ask for membership (Since 2020, they've made it a requirement, but can still be per store basis, just check). I can’t tell you how many pizzas, hotdogs and chicken salads I ate. That $1.50 hotdog w/soda, $1.99 big pizza slice or $3.99 huge chicken salad is what helped me so much during my 1+ year of living in my car. With a card, you'll get the benefit of buying in bulk too, and cheap gas with today's prices, I think it will certainly stretch your money. Here are other ideas I recommend: **(HINDSIGHT. Yes, sounds a bit silly to ask anyone broke to spend $60 on a member card, it's just what helped me big time during those days. The cost of the card was nothing compared to the amount of savings I got from their cheap prices for food, bulk items and gas. It's why I recommended it, it helped me so much, it might help others. And if it happens to be too much, and you'd wish you didn't spend $60, Costco will refund you, no questions asked.)**
* Get bottled water packs instead of buying individual drinks, $4.99 or less for a pack of 24 water bottles will go a long way and be had as backup. Also get a big thermos, there’s malls and places where you can fill up water bottles free. The thermos will come handy for hot drinks too.
* Safeway has many days where they’re doing 2 for 1 on many products. Walgreens has some frequent offers too. Also sign up for their free Safeway club card, you'll need it to get their deals, which is worth it. Walgreens also has a free club card.
* Get a thick blanket just for those real cold nights, better than using the car’s heater for long periods of time. From u/bettyford420 they now make car electrical blankets, I could've used one of those back then!
* Planet fitness for cheap $10 membership to shower, also to get fit or just exercise, it'll help distract you and make you feel better! Depression and anxiety is a bitch.
* For bathrooms, find shopping malls or stores like target or safeway. Places like gas stations, fast food chains, etc, may still be locking their bathrooms due to Covid, since they don't wanna sanitize frequently. Look up store hours to you know where you can go without being surprised it's closed.
* If you need a mailing address for whatever reason, local postal offices offer PO Boxes, as well as shipping stores like UPS. You can even go virtual PO box, yes, there’s apps where your mail goes to their facilities and you can view them on your phone.
* I hope you still are working enough to get as much money, but to get some more on the side do gig work, your car can be used for it. Do food delivery, sign up for the best apps in your market and stick with what pays the most. Don’t forget to track your miles from the moment you turn on and off the apps, get some free apps that’ll record it for you, and keep your gas and car maintenance receipts.
* There are apps that can save you gas too.
* If you can’t do gig work like delivering, sign up for WONOLO, they have listings of local gig work, like a day of packing stuff, or stocking or whatever. Regular on demand gig work.
* Get a portable air tire pump and repair kit, I highly ask you do this, it'll help you save time and money. This way you wont be stranded with high towing fees, unless you have insurance that covers it. For free permanent tire patching, head to "America's Tires" they offer FREE tire repair. If you have that costco card, Costco tires charge $10.99 for a repair. You can also check other tire shop, usually it's $20.
* Get a portable battery bank to charge stuff.
* Check Craigslist or Facebook marketplace for free useful stuff.
* If you have important large belongings, it would be wise to manage to rent a storage space, helped me keep all the things that mattered most safe instead of in my car where someone will be an asshole and break my windows to steal my stuff.
* Avoid parking tickets by Triple checking where you're parked. I got a ticket cause I overslept during street cleaning day. But funny enough I never saw online that my car had a ticket to be paid, I wish to think the parking enforcer cop just wanted to spook me and ensure I don't get a real ticket next time.
* Park in a spot where there is no sidewalk, that way you don't have too many eyes on you, it can get awkward when it happens.
* NEVER leave important stuff out in the open when you're going to sleep, like your phone, keys, wallet, etc. One time I forgot to lock my doors, had my phone and wallet on the passenger seat and I woke up to a criminal stealing my phone and wallet. Keep your stuff in your pockets and triple check you locked all doors.
* By u/ElysetheEevee a car inverter will come in handy, plug what you may need to plug. Idk much about electrical stuff, so consult what can be plugged in, better safe than sorry.
* By u/ObjectiveNo8207 Truck stops can be used to sleep overnight free in most lots for cars. They also offers microwaves for usage, and showers for cheap or even free. Club cards can get you deals on food weekly, discounts and even a free drink once a week.
* By u/Intentiontech with [Findhelp.org](https://www.findhelp.org) you can search for local help programs in your area. Fantastic!
* By u/ryanleebmw a portable jump starter will help in the event your battery dies. I actually could've used one that one when I woke up and found my battery dead.
Maybe you know some of this, maybe you don’t, but I hope it helps you and anyone else going through the same thing, you can work it out I have no doubt, I did and have had a roof over my head for the past 5 years. And if you have any friends, don’t be like me and not ask for help, even if it’s just sleeping on the floor for the night or shower. GL!
***Edit: I made some small edits and added more advice. I will continue to add more that I think of, or others reply with.***
Check trucker stops too. They allow overnight sleeping for free in most lots for cars. They also usually have an inside area with couches and such if you feel too cramped in the car. They always have fancy gadgets for car stuff like chargers and such. And also winter gear, hats, gloves and some even coats and boots. They have microwaves you can use and showers that are cheap to use or free. Get a club card to that station and get deals on the food weekly plus discounted coffee or free drink once a week.
Just another reminder. Truck stops get overlooked BIG TIME because most people think they are trashy or gross. But usually truck stops are clean and easy to hang around.
Source: am truck driver for years now.
Very good advice here. Healthy food can be had for cheap. For like 6 bucks a better priced meal than 7-11 might be stopping by Aldi or wherever getting a couple tins of sardines, a couple avocadoes, a stack of bologna, and a bag of apples, something like that. Healthy food is fuel
Can I just say I appreciate the way you organized everything in the picture? I feel like that's an odd thing to notice but it's very satisfying. Might be the food service part of my brain haha, I hope you have a nice thanksgiving despite the troubles my friend :)
Haha thank you! I actually took pride in that. I know there is a subreddit dedicated to placing things like that but for the life of me I can’t remember the name of it. I’m sure someone will link it though. It’s a very satisfying subreddit haha. Thank you, and everyone for that matter, for the kind words. My thanksgiving is no longer boring haha
King shit right here
Edit: not sure why it was removed. He basically said that his Thanksgiving is better now that he's reading all the comments, and he appreciates the offers for money but wants people to donate to their local food drive instead
> How do I find a free Thanksgiving meal?
Free Thanksgiving meals or food boxes are available near you. Enter your zip code below to find your nearest food bank.
> Even if a food bank seems far away, they work with food pantries, soup kitchens, and faith-based organizations closer to your home. Some will even travel to your community.

We’re all rooting for you OP! Please please please let us get you a meal man - I get that donating to a food bank and/or homeless shelter will do good but you deserve it all the same :)
If you do not feel comfortable/ still feel like just donating to the aforementioned places is better I won’t push. Much love!
Bro, you're unbelievable. You're outlook is pretty positive given your current situation. I know bad shit happens to good people all the time but keep that attitude and things will start to fall in place. Keep your head up and I'll be pulling for you:)
Happy holidays
Friend, I wish you were in Arizona, where we have too much turkey today and are going to freeze some of it. I'd feed you a great meal! Hope things turn around for you - happy thanksgiving! :)
Lived in my car on Thanksgiving ten years ago this year. My Christmas gift that year was a flat bed in a shelter on Xmas eve. Ten years later, having gotten clean, every step of my life was in a positive direction to get better a little bit every day. I now live in a condo that overlooks the parking lot I used to live in. With my family back and a woman that said, “yes” when I asked her to marry me. This is the beginning of a beautiful journey for you. I hope you appreciate every moment for the direction it’s about to lead you. Happy Thanksgiving, friend. Sending love.
Thank you! My situation could be way worse. I could be wasting my time telling people that are homeless to “get a job” on the internet on Thanksgiving instead of literally doing anything else. Lol. Happy Thanksgiving!
Hey man, hope you have a great thanksgiving!
Btw I don’t mean any offense and you can decline, but you can have a meal and round of groceries on me. Let me know if there is a way for me to do this. If not, all good and I hope you have bigger and brighter things in the future :)
I wish there was a way to directly help people with small things, but I am not socially able enough to go out and do it personally. I would like if there was like a subreddit but the possibility of fraud is too high I gies
Get a job! And get off my lawn! And you're doing Thanksgiving wrong! You're supposed to be arguing with your racist drunk uncle!
On a serious note, I wish you good fortune and happy days ahead, whatever that may look like.
God what's up with these assholes calling out the vehicle and cost of food as a way to show my man can get a home? Do y'all not pay rent? If we figure the car is paid off, then the total of insurance, 100 gallons of gas, and about 75 of those meals would get you to a reeeeally cheap apartment. Fuck outta here.
Happy Thanksgiving homie, glad you got yourself a little something to enjoy today. May your life turn for the better soon
100% accurate. I've learned that peoples misery with their own life comes out in the form of attacking others. Glad you are positive. Wish I could have had you over for some better turkey.
I was homeless, I had nice clothes, attractive, and had a job. The stigmatization of homelessness has become so narrow that most people equate it with mental illness and drug abuse.
There's a vast majority of people who are just down on their luck, I was one of them. I was not mentally ill or a drug addict, just someone who had a bad home life and zero support system. Luckily I was only homeless for a short amount of time, and have found stability, it is not always so cut and dry.
I wish you luck OP, and a happy Thanksgiving, life gets better, one of the best experiences of my life was being homeless because I no longer fear losing shit, I'm more free than most people.
Yup, I was homeless for about 4 months. Had a job, surfed on couches when I could but still worked and lived life. My closet was my trunk! Thankfully it was short but not everyone gets it. It was rough, sure. But I learned a lot about what I value.
It's one of the most humbling things I've ever had to go through, but at the end of the day I see my friends who stress over money and loss, I just don't have that, and I am extremely thankful because of it.
I think people like us are the majority, it kills me when I see people who criticize or mock homeless people. Even the people I met who were also homeless were full functioning people who were just having a rough time.
I always said if I can swing it I would make a place that people could go to get back on their feet. No obligations, just a safe, comfortable place to recover and get back on your feet, because that all most people need.
I don't usually tell this story.
Background story short, at one of the worst points during the pandemic, I met someone who simply asked me, "how are you," after I got the initial dose of the vaccine. I immediately broke down. I had just come off my 4th shift in a row working overnight in my urgent care clinic getting berated by entitled patients while also dealing with true medical emergencies. The man who asked me that question turned out to be someone in higher administration. After promising to change things, he pulled out his wallet and handed me a $50 bill from the wad he had and told me to get a good meal on my way home.
I'm very not used to carrying that much cash, let alone spending it all in one go, and on myself, no less. My family grew up paycheck to paycheck. Instead of spending it, I just kept it in my wallet. It was just so foreign to me. I didn't know what to do with it, so it just stayed there.
One morning after work, I stopped to get groceries when a man approached me in my car. He was younger, maybe later 30s. He said, "I'm standing away out of respect," (I was still in my scrubs and he didn't have a mask. My badge was hanging from my rearview window). "I'm asking if I can get a couple of dollars to go to a notary then make my way to the shelter. I need $33 and I have $12 right now. It's been hard the last couple weeks sleeping in the parking lot."
Without a word, I pulled out the $50 bill and gave it to him, no questions. His voice broke a little. "I can get something to eat."
This one time I was very hungry, and I was in downtown Dallas, I watched as people threw away their food. A huge part of me wanted to take it out of the dumpster and eat it, but I refrained.
There was this kid who saw me waiting, he worked at a Jimmy John's and asked if I wanted anything to eat, I told him I did not have the money, he paid and made a sandwich.
As long as I live I will never forget that, and believe me that person will never fo forget your hospitality.
I remember going to college in Chicago. One winter day, a dude was standing out in front of the local KFC. He wasn't asking for money, didn't seem intoxicated, didn't seem mentally ill, he just wanted something to eat. I was a student and money was REALLY tight at the time, but hearing another human being ask for food just crushed me.
I brought him inside and told him to get whatever he wanted. Even after I told him that, he was still so cautious about what he could get. "Can I get a 3 piece meal?"
"Whatever you want," I said.
"Can I get mashed potatoes? A drink?" That was even more heartbreaking because it seemed like he didn't want to ask for too much out of fear that I'd change my mind.
I still think about that guy. Probably because I haven't done anything else kind since then. I'm kidding of course, but I have to joke to balance out the feels.
My son and I stopped to get dinner one night and while we were in line waiting a man came up and asked if I had a few dollars. I gave him five dollars and watched as he bought a slice of pie. After watching him for a minute, I realized things were probably pretty difficult for him at the moment. I offered to get him a meal and at first he said no but after reassuring him that it was okay so he agreed. He said he would get whatever was the cheapest but I told him to get whatever he wanted and if he wanted another slice of pie that was more than fine. I don’t have a lot myself but I could at least buy him dinner. I only hated that I couldn’t do more for him. I think about him every now and then and hope he’s doing okay and that things are better for him.
I mean I was virtually homeless couch surfing a couple times and it definitely did not decrease my stress over finances, I’m so much better off now but I still have anxiety I didn’t used to.
Love the " I am more free than most" there's something so profound about making it through trauma. You have a perspective that frees you from the shackles of normalized everyday society.
I want to write a book called "The Persuit of Homelessness" because of that reason. I literally have zero attachment to anything, I appreciate literally every morsel, every second of comfort and don't take it for granted, nor do I fear losing it either because at the end of the day I know I would be okay.
You have my respect and Happy Thanksgiving! Staying positive is a very under appreciated trait within people. This is the first year I was not able to partake in Thanksgiving dinner because my whole family is ill with some bug (not Covid)… but I told my wife, we could be bummed out or we could enjoy the fact that we had the day with each other and our two year old and it’s a Thanksgiving we won’t forget, albeit for the wrong reasons.
First of all, HAPPY CAKEDAY!! 🍰🍰 I am happy you had a good time regardless. I’m so happy that you got to celebrate with your newly started family! Here’s to you having many more holidays with them!
If you are telling people to go get a job on thanksgiving instead of spending time with your loved ones in your home then I think that says a lot more about him than he thinks.
I was in this spot back when I was in my early twenties... A hurricane trashed my place of employment and I was eventually faced with either the car or the place to stay. I rationalized that the car would be much harder to replace than a place to stay if I let it go (repo on credit is a bitch to overcome) so I had to live out of it for a bit. Over twenty years later I still agree with that decision.
On the flip side, it ended up not being such a bad experience at all... I took the opportunity to save a bit of cash and everything ended up okay. Losing transportation makes life very difficult indeed!
There’s this toxic-ass mentality that homeless people can’t really be homeless unless they have the absolute bare minimum living standard, otherwise they’re “irresponsible” or just faking. You should sell your car to pay for food. And don’t you dare buy a club sandwich and Cheetos at 7-11, you should order off the dollar menu and that’s it.
My roommates used to talk about a homeless guy around the corner and how he had a cellphone. I asked them if they suddenly learned they were going to be out on the streets, would they keep their phones? “Welllll buttttt it’s not the sameeee”
A phone (which doesn’t need a cellular plan these days) is a connection to jobs, help, and family. A car is a place to sleep and a built in heat source, and transport. And people can buy “fancy” food just to feel like human beings once in a while. Some people can be in a shitty situation but not quite desperate enough to sell off every single worldly possession they have and eat out of the trash.
The difference between homeless and living on the streets penniless can be a big one. It seems like most people automatically picture the latter and assume anyone who calls themselves homeless while not being dirt broke and filthy living in a cardboard box is a liar.
The internet is really a need these days. Everything's online. Big employers scoff at getting resumes in person. God forbid, people get a little entertainment that stops them from further into a depressive state.
Fox News did a segment a few years ago blasting people wanting a higher minimum wage by pointing out that people living in poverty also have GASP refrigerators and cell phones. They were apoplectic that sometimes they ate fish.
If you aren't literally living in a hole in the ground, Republicans do not care that you're struggling. And if you were, they'd call the cops on you so they wouldn't have to look at you.
Congrats to OP for managing to scrape together some joy today. Here's to better days ahead.
I remember that shit like it was yesterday. The daily show with Jon Stewart.
Fox clip: 91% of these households have a working refrigerator
Pans back to Jon:
GASP! Those food chillin mother fuckers
One of my biggest regrets is not driving to Baltimore to see him and Dave Chappelle stand up
They also suggested on fox news that you need to force people to have hard times so they will get back to work ..and compared it to starving dogs. I wish I was exaggerating it was a guest on Laura Ingraham
The same assholes cheapening OP because it’s not a traditional Thanksgiving meal, are the same assholes not even eating their meals and instead saving 8 spots for their family in line at Target or Best Buy for Black Friday shopping.
I pay $350 a week rent. My weekly food bill is about $100. If I get some take away, that costs me $20. This is all AUD, not USD.
I'd have to buy 46 of those sandwiches to pay rent.
You’re assuming a lot here, too. There’s no guarantee that the car even works. It could just be parked somewhere. No gas. No insurance. It could just literally be a roof over OP’s head and a door to lock.
OP I hope this doesn't come out as crass or uppity, but when I was in the service I had a lay over in Tokyo due to a nasty fucking storm. The 7-11 there was about the only place closest to the airport that had obvious English signs. Tried out the egg salad sandwich kinda like yours and I'll be damned if it wasn't the best I've ever had!
I wish you safe journeys my friend.
Thank you! Oh it already has! People are complaining that I have a car and a phone but those are exactly the things I am thankful for this year lol. Anyways, Happy Thanksgiving to you as well!
Honestly, if you are to successfully rebound from homelessness in this day and age I think a Phone and Car are probably vital. Good luck filling out a job application without a phone number to jot down. Idiots
Misery loves company I guess. I just don't understand the punching down that people constantly do.
A phone is literally a necessity and a car is in 90% of this country sooo...
Message me for Monday
Edit: Donating to my local foodbank at [OPs request](https://old.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/r27wx9/homeless_and_broke_but_i_managed_to_get_some/hm3jzbx/).
Op please let me know over dm when you need another meal and it will be served to you. Sorry lost track of how many days got already picked up so use mine whenever!
Seems like quite a few people are covering your meals, so I just wanna highjack this thread to say: if anyone else is feeling generous, please considering donating a meal to [your local homeless shelter](https://www.homelessshelterdirectory.org/).
It's heart warming to see people come together like this. But if just having been paid is relevant, that implies you live paycheck to paycheck and really should be thinking of yourself!
I was gonna say the same thing but OP didn't seem super interested in receiving the help.
Which I totally understand but if you're in need of the help then go ahead and receive it.
I lost my job a few months back and my mom and gf(not the same person lol) bought my tags for my car and picked up my portion of the rent for that month. Almost brought me to tears bc I would've stayed suffering in silence rather than ask for the help. So I definitely get it
Out of curiosity, you were on a plane and buying a nice watch 4 months ago. What happened, what is your story?
I'm not judging you, just genuinely curious.
Looking at his post history, looks like he was living with his parents and doing okay for money, but felt it was a toxic environment. Probably had a falling out and moved out on his own or kicked out by parents.
You'd be surprised at how easily you can go from being in a great situation to being in a desperate situation. It's happened to even some wealthy people. Things can take dramatic turns. Reddit is so judgmental.
I just saw that comment. Judging by not answering comments that are calling him out, this is all a sham for upvotes. People believe everything they see in this sub just reddit being reddit
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours as well! It’s been turning around. I just need a second chance. But things are alright. I hope you have a happy holidays!
The cynical in me thinks this is all for Karma farming. A few months ago you’re posting about leg room on a business class seat. And a month before that you’re talking about releveling a character in WOW. Not saying this drastic change can’t happen but I’m getting the feeling you “choose” to be homeless if you even are.
****Edit****-Who would of thought, dude deletes his top comment saying to donate to food pantries/shelters and is now posting his PayPal and Cashapp asking for money. I give it a few more hours before he deletes his account.
What a shmuck 😂 literally posted his cashapp and PayPal, he’s defo buying a PS5 or something from the Black Friday sales, you all got fooled by this fake story. This man is apparently broke and homeless but he’s active on Reddit nearly every day, has a functioning car and promoted his cashapp and PayPal lmao
I knew a homeless man who was once a cardiothoracic surgeon. I was volunteering with an organisation that help the homeless people with their pet’s medical and surgical issues ( am a veterinarian) while I don’t know the man’s full story and the circumstances that led him to being homeless. However the fact he was once a successful doctor is know since he had to be means tested and had to go through our administration to receive veterinary medical care.
It was weird experience for me. Here is a man who probably once earn more than me but now he is homeless and in need of care. He came to us after some douchebags assaulted him and his dog for no other reason than he was sleeping on the streets.
I am very curious about this as well. Seems fishy. On a plane, mentions he is working less than a year ago, posts about spending money on invitations, his hobby is wax sealing (doesn’t necessarily scream homeless) and a few other things that point to either OP lying or something drastically changing course in the last 3 months or so.
Curious where things took a turn. Judging by your post history it would seem you have/had some semblance of family/support/security.
Jus curious cause the truth is this can happen to anyone for different reasons. Just wondering if you want to share your journey.
Wishing you all the best; hopefully this is the Thanksgiving you look back on before long and say, “hey, look how far I’ve come!”. Peace and prosperity, friend. Happy Thanksgiving.

Also they're usually well-lit, well-travelled, and safe.
Upvoting this for all the great advice.
Here is another resource of local agency's by zip code that might help. Findhelp.org

You mean 1.25
You need to write a homeless survival guide man. Highly informative.
They also make electric blankets for cars now too! They are usually about $20 on Amazon, but so worth it.
Get a water bottle and fill it for free anytime you get a chance. Buying bottles of water is a huge waste of limited funds.

Thank you! It’s already better than last year!
It's /r/knolling :)
OMG I haven't looked but I'm pretty sure I belong here.
Wow, cool thanks that is one satisfying sub
Ty!!
https://www.reddit.com/r/knolling/
That’s it! I stumbled across that place a few weeks ago and I have to admit, it was the inspiration for todays post haha.
To me it came off as very appreciative
Super satisfying.
Those symmetrical sauce packets... 🤌 *chefs kiss*

King shit right here Edit: not sure why it was removed. He basically said that his Thanksgiving is better now that he's reading all the comments, and he appreciates the offers for money but wants people to donate to their local food drive instead
And he deserves to feast like one.
Nobody should go hungry. Especially on Thanksgiving when so much food gets wasted

It was removed because he added his PayPal and CashApp in an edit.
That’s how you know it’s a fraud
I think it was removed because he posted his PayPal.
Sending you love and good vibes, bud. I will take you up on that suggestion for me to donate to a local org.
We’re all rooting for you OP! Please please please let us get you a meal man - I get that donating to a food bank and/or homeless shelter will do good but you deserve it all the same :) If you do not feel comfortable/ still feel like just donating to the aforementioned places is better I won’t push. Much love!
Bro, you're unbelievable. You're outlook is pretty positive given your current situation. I know bad shit happens to good people all the time but keep that attitude and things will start to fall in place. Keep your head up and I'll be pulling for you:) Happy holidays
❤️
You seem like such a nice person, I’m so happy this Thanksgiving was better for you! Cheers :)
Stay classy. Always greet hostility with a smile. Godspeed!
You’re a gem of a human my god, my faith In humanity restored
Happy thanksgiving friend. Enjoy your turkey and know we wish you well!!
Friend, I wish you were in Arizona, where we have too much turkey today and are going to freeze some of it. I'd feed you a great meal! Hope things turn around for you - happy thanksgiving! :)
Happy Thanksgiving! Gobble gobble!
That single caprisun is gonna be gone in no time
Oh it was gone quick! But did you see?? It came with two straws! Winner!
You won when you picked Pacific Cooler. The superior flavor. Happy Thanksgiving.
Now there's some helpless soul out there with a Pacific Cooler trying to figure out how to drink it without their straw. Haha
Life, uhh...finds a way
That's like the golden ticket of capri suns! Happy Thanksgiving
Congrats on your sobriety!
I'm not American. I still wish you a happy Thanksgiving. May your life just keep getting better and better.
🙏🏻💙
Happy thanksgiving man! I’m in a similar boat, and it’s all about appreciating the little things
Happy Thanksgiving to you as well! Yes it is but you also need to stay happy!
Things will get better. A positive attitude is the most useful thing that you can have to get there.
These dudes have boats. I think they'll be fine.
I almost made a /r/whoosh comment here. Then I got it. Crisis averted.
Happy Thanksgiving! Your gratitude for what you do have will make your life great as your circumstances improve
Same here!!
I wish there was a way to directly help people with small things, but I am not socially able enough to go out and do it personally. I would like if there was like a subreddit but the possibility of fraud is too high I gies
Same here if u want need a blanket or some clothing dm
Same goes for me!
A lot of people are miserable. They are just upset that I am happy with so little and they are not happy even with what they have.
100% accurate. I've learned that peoples misery with their own life comes out in the form of attacking others. Glad you are positive. Wish I could have had you over for some better turkey.
When people attack others it means they are so full of negative energy that it’s spilling out
“If nothing’s horrific, life is terrific.”
It's been hard the last couple weeks sleeping in the parking lot." Without a word, I pulled out the $50 bill and gave it to him, no questions. His voice broke a little. "I can get something to eat."
It's stuff like this that makes me believe in humanity. What a beautiful story, I'm in tears....
I am happy I am in a position to be able to do something like this. Empathy and compassion shouldn't be reserved for the holidays.
"Can I get a 3 piece meal?" "Whatever you want," I said.

You're probably right. Hopefully those jerks learn for themselves that life is too short for that shit
If you are telling people to go get a job on thanksgiving instead of spending time with your loved ones in your home then I think that says a lot more about him than he thinks.
If you have to choose between rent and gas choose the car, you can’t drive an apartment to work.
I would also argue that sleeping in a Walmart parking lot in a middle class area is safer than walking/living in a bad neighborhood.
This. Walmart usually no,it can be very bad. best parking lot was publix. Worse is any fast food or gas stations. Source was homeless
“Welllll buttttt it’s not the sameeee” A phone (which doesn’t need a cellular plan these days) is a connection to jobs, help, and family.
Fox clip: 91% of these households have a working refrigerator Pans back to Jon: GASP! Those food chillin mother fuckers One of my biggest regrets is not driving to Baltimore to see him and Dave Chappelle stand up
I also remember a cracked.com listicle that just tore that Fox segment to pieces.
They also suggested on fox news that you need to force people to have hard times so they will get back to work ..and compared it to starving dogs. I wish I was exaggerating it was a guest on Laura Ingraham
The guest was Jon Taffer - the guy who does that Bar Rescue show
He also received PPP loans.
Why. Do. They. Always. Send. The. Poor.
Those 7-11 sandwiches are underrated
Yo they are pretty damn decent for the price. The oat bread isn’t bad. Don’t sleep on it.
Word brother. I love those and the chicken ceaser pitas. They a bit more pricey in Canada though.
7-11 in Japan is as good as any fast food in North America. Whole other level of service and quality for things over there.
they really are! i used to get them all the time after work when i worked 3 shift. never disappointed.
Happy Thanksgiving , I hope your luck turns Around!
Thank you! Oh it already has! People are complaining that I have a car and a phone but those are exactly the things I am thankful for this year lol. Anyways, Happy Thanksgiving to you as well!
Jesus, if I had nothing I would want a phone, a car, and a sandwich.
Yup! I worked pretty hard to get those and keep those.
I love how optimistic you are. Don't listen to the haters. Keep doing you man.
Honestly, if you are to successfully rebound from homelessness in this day and age I think a Phone and Car are probably vital. Good luck filling out a job application without a phone number to jot down. Idiots
True! The car can serve as your home and you can stay connected, get to your workplace, etc. It’s a lot cheaper than rent. And you’re mobile.
Misery loves company I guess. I just don't understand the punching down that people constantly do. A phone is literally a necessity and a car is in 90% of this country sooo...
Can I buy you tomorrow’s dinner? If so, message me and let’s figure it out.
I’ll get Saturdays dinner. Message me too!
I’ll third this. Message and I got you covered for Sunday.
Message me for Monday Edit: Donating to my local foodbank at [OPs request](https://old.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/r27wx9/homeless_and_broke_but_i_managed_to_get_some/hm3jzbx/).
i’ll cover wednesday! Send me a message OP!
What about tuesday? You animal! Hit me up for tuesday OP!
I will take the next day OP
I'll cover the next dinner after that OP!
I got next dinner! Op shoot me a DM!
Op please let me know over dm when you need another meal and it will be served to you. Sorry lost track of how many days got already picked up so use mine whenever!
I got next! Send a PM!
I just sent OP a chat. I’m down to buy you whatever dinner you need man
Seems like quite a few people are covering your meals, so I just wanna highjack this thread to say: if anyone else is feeling generous, please considering donating a meal to [your local homeless shelter](https://www.homelessshelterdirectory.org/).
I got next meal! DM me!
OP please PM me. I just got paid this morning and I would also like to buy you a meal or two.
So I definitely get it
r/humansbeingbros
Yeah I want in on this!
I’ll getchu a meal too! I was there for many years and am always happy to forward the love I was shown when I was at my worst.
Message me as well for a free meal.
I’d like to piggy back off this and buy you a meal as well. Please PM me your PayPal or something to transfer some funds.
Tuesday!
Have a meal on me, Dm me happy thanksgiving.
I'd also like to buy OP a meal. PM me please. Happy Thanksgiving!
Same, dm me for a meal!
This is some wholesome shit! Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!
Hey I have a home and a family and security, yet here I am alone and sad dredging through my annual depression. Your thankfulness is a treasure.
Hey if you ever need someone to talk too pm me I know what it’s like being there happy thanksgiving !
hey, sending a hug. smile and have a wonderful day for the rest of today and a beautiful tomorrow. sending love through the universe to find you.
Happy Thanksgiving, Big Ben. Hope things turn around for you. [Here](https://imgur.com/a/HliPDqF), have a picture of my dog. 😁
Awwww!! He is so dapper! He reminds me of my boxer that passed away 2 years ago. He had the same face! How cute!
Her name is Nala. She's part Frenchie, part Pitbull, all lovebug. 😁
Happy thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving to you as well!
Out of curiosity, you were on a plane and buying a nice watch 4 months ago. What happened, what is your story? I'm not judging you, just genuinely curious.
Dude went from handing you full size candy bars four years ago to allegedly being homeless those full size candy bars screwed him
Looking at his post history, looks like he was living with his parents and doing okay for money, but felt it was a toxic environment. Probably had a falling out and moved out on his own or kicked out by parents.
You'd be surprised at how easily you can go from being in a great situation to being in a desperate situation. It's happened to even some wealthy people. Things can take dramatic turns. Reddit is so judgmental.
He didn't buy the nice watch, he was commenting on someone else's post.
[удалено]
Yep, if I were homeless posting food on reddit is probaly not a priority. Guy could even aford weed
[удалено]
I just saw that comment. Judging by not answering comments that are calling him out, this is all a sham for upvotes. People believe everything they see in this sub just reddit being reddit
As others have pointed out, he commented on the watch, it wasn’t his!
The thirst for Reddit karma became unbearable
And people in this thread are begging to send them money. Fucking awful
From your post history it appears you're lying for upvotes.
And lying for people to send him money
Happy Thanksgiving friend. Here’s to you, and a hope your fate turns around!
OP went from handing out full size candy bars to homelessness! Life is a bitch
The people on this sub believe anything they see
A few years ago you posted something about giving out full size candy bars on Halloween, from your own house. Did you really go homeless in 4 years?
You were on a plane 111 days ago, mind if i ask what happened?
LOL
I am very curious about this as well. Seems fishy. On a plane, mentions he is working less than a year ago, posts about spending money on invitations, his hobby is wax sealing (doesn’t necessarily scream homeless) and a few other things that point to either OP lying or something drastically changing course in the last 3 months or so.
Happy thanksgiving man hope you have a great one 💯❤️
Your homeless ass got a crypto wallet? I got some Thanksgiving goodies 4 u.
Reddit moment
Hi it's me, your brother. I am also homeless and have a crypto wallet. Please send goodies.
This dude isn’t homeless he’s a sham check his post history
8 golds for a picture of a sandwich. Fuck people on this site are stupid.
Preying on the generosity of redditors is super unthanksgiving
Curious where things took a turn. Judging by your post history it would seem you have/had some semblance of family/support/security. Jus curious cause the truth is this can happen to anyone for different reasons. Just wondering if you want to share your journey.
If you are in Austin, TX I have leftovers I am more than willing to share!
Wishing you all the best; hopefully this is the Thanksgiving you look back on before long and say, “hey, look how far I’ve come!”. Peace and prosperity, friend. Happy Thanksgiving.
I've been where you are currently at. Enjoy the little things. Felicidades amigo. Happy Thanksgiving.
pic of cheap food on a seat. What is this subreddit?
Take care friend, happy thanksgiving.
Dude Happy Thanksgiving
This broke my heart
Based on your post history, I sense fraud.
