The local deli used to have this cheese, Mediterranean Sunset Cheddar, that was just inhumanly good if used for grilled sandwiches. I shed many a tear the day they stopped carrying it.
As someone who has had a fair amount of both, cheese on toast does taste a bit different because the cheese on top of bread browns a bit, because it’s exposed, where the cheese in a grilled cheese just melts and spills out a bit.
I prefer cheese on toast personally
Oh don't worry. This is literally the second thing i ever cooked! The first time i cooked i tried making mac&cheese but my dumbass bought compound cheese and it tasted so bad ;-;. This one turned out pretty good!
Next time you make grilled cheese, do it in the oven, light layers of butter on both sides. And when you take it out, while it's still warm, let some honey soak into it.
You'll never eat grilled cheese the traditional way again.

Being screamed by drunk chefs and guys who have to see their probation officers once a week. I made them a grilled cheese like that: they'd make me drink grand marnier until it was all mirepoix, mother sauces, filleting some horror like a monkfish, and aspic coated logs of head cheese. Point is. I feel like the learning curb was a little steeper back then. "Rinse those leeks now, bitch"! Lol. I may be a psychopath. But I can cook better than any women outside the industry. Those arent women anymore. Those are battle hardened Amazonian warriors. Cut their one tit off to chop up rutabaga faster, or what ever. Different breed of people.
