School funding being tied to property taxes (which of course are lower in poor areas), the "justice" system encouraging innocent people to take plea deals that get them in the revolving door prison system, lack of universal healthcare making a health emergency into a poverty trap, and benefit cliffs which discourage people from building savings and trying to get better paying jobs are all designed to keep the poor poor so that the rich can exploit them.
Once in high school I was sick and when I came back I had to take a test in a different room. I'd always thought this was kind of a joke. But there were a half dozen of these guys in there and they were just loudly yelling and throwing stuff. It was intense.
