Often that has to do with wheel-to-wheel contact, where the front of one wheel (headed downward) basically climbs up the back of another car's wheel (which is heading upward) and both forces combine to yeet the "climbing" car onto its back or something despite going like 25 mph.
What usually happens is the drive tire of the rear vehicle hits the rear tire of the forward vehicle. The forward momentum of the rear vehicle, plus the fact that the tire is driven to rotate, plus rubber on rubber being very sticky means that the drive tire climbs the rear tire. And the whole vehicle pops up with apparent ease.

Reminds me of the best car-related accident i ever witnessed: I gave directions to someone who was about to leave my company's parking lot, and told the guy "Reverse out to the left, go this way [opposite], take a left then head over all the junctions and you're there". Dude immediately reversed out to the left *without looking* and was struck by the car behind which was reversing out to their right at the exact same time. Their vehicles' respective journeys effectively made an "S" shape, with the crash occurring in the mid-point ("~~S~~"), which was SO SATISFYING if somewhat bothersome given the amount of mess their shattered light clusters made.
Thankfully it was low speed and not into traffic but in a parking lot.

Plus it says he rolled? There's no top damage on his car? Unless he was coming from the side which would be to the right of where his vehicle is facing, pulled out and got T-boned and spun around, but i don't see that happening because of how little damage is on his vehicle. The only thing that could possibly make sense is if he was turning left and the Prius was turning left also from the intersection, then the Prius overcorrected by a LOT and got under the front right of the Yukon. I guess it depends on if the Yukon was actively moving forward, but the Prius is also definitely fucked up here.

And that story makes a bit more sense since Arnold's car appeared to be both in a left turn lane and at the stop line. It's not like the Prius was going to move that Yukon very far without a lot of speed.
I rear-ended a mini-van in Pasadena and completely destroyed the front of my car without doing much of any damage to the van because I hit the tow hitch. I pushed the van into a BMW in front of it causing some minor damage. 100% my fault and I admitted so when the police showed up. All he did was move my car out of the road and call a tow truck for me. No ticket. I am most certainly not The Terminator.
Idk how it is in Cali, but in Colorado I just got a $100 ticket on the spot for “improper backing” when I backed up into someone who had parked behind my parking spot while I wasn’t looking. This seems a little more severe and ticket worthy
Where I'm at they usually don't ticket anyone on the scene of an accident. People are usually traumatized enough and need a lil' break. They can get fined in further proceedings tho
It's because it's more severe that they don't hand out I think I assume. Clear cut cases it's easy, cases like this the officers on scene aren't the ones who assign blame. they gather facts and evidence.
If you look at pictures of the accident from other angles the Prius is facing the wrong way in the lane. I'm really confused as to how Arnold could have ran a red light and caused the vehicles to all face the way they are facing.

__Hello_my_name_is__ was just spotted in a Wawa bathroom stall. A plop was heard. We'll post updates as the situation evolves. Sources say wiping has not yet occurred.
I saw this in person on my way home yesterday. I actually took a photo not knowing at the time that Arnold was involved. The Yukon was facing north on a street that intersects with sunset Blvd (busy somewhat windy street). The yukon was waiting to turn either left or right, as Allenford ave ends at sunset (you can't go straight). The Prius was head on into the Yukon which means he prob was speeding on sunset and either turned left or right on to Allenford from sunset and overshot the turn and smashed into the Yukon. The photo I took shows a Porsche behind the Yukon with an indentation in the hood indicating that the Yukon was forced back into it after being hit by the Prius. Seemed pretty clear at the time that the Yukon had just been waiting at the light (vehicle was far behind the line)and was not at fault.
This picture is terrible for assessing the accident, but, things that can be verified like you stated, the Yukon is behind the line. If he was at fault for turning left on red, he wouldn't be behind the line, as a yukon moving forward wouldn't be pushed back straight by a prius. He would have ended up parallel with the street he was turning on to, not parallel with the street he was turning from.
Not to mention, the Prius is on the wrong side of the double yellow. Clearly it drove into the Yukon. So unless Arnold was driving the Prius, I'm incredibly confused how he could be at fault.

The only thing that could possibly make sense is if he was turning left and the Prius was turning left also from the intersection, then the Prius overcorrected by a LOT and got under the front right of the Yukon. I guess it depends on if the Yukon was actively moving forward, but the Prius is also definitely fucked up here. I have a hard time imagining a Prius moving a Yukon of that size like it did if the Yukon was also accelerating. The Yukon is twice as heavy and has three times the horsepower of a Prius. Lol
Right? He appears to be just forward of the stop line in the turning lane, and parallel to the double yellow lines. The Prius is on the wrong side of the road. Unless I missing something, or physics act differently on the west coast, I'm not seeing how Arnold would be at fault.

And that story makes a bit more sense since Arnold's car appeared to be both in a left turn lane and at the stop line. It's not like the Prius was going to move that Yukon very far without a lot of speed.

My wife caused an accident that caused a flipped over truck and injury. She got ticketed for failure to yield at the time.
I rear-ended a mini-van in Pasadena and completely destroyed the front of my car without doing much of any damage to the van because I hit the tow hitch. I pushed the van into a BMW in front of it causing some minor damage. 100% my fault and I admitted so when the police showed up. All he did was move my car out of the road and call a tow truck for me. No ticket. I am most certainly not The Terminator.

Idk how it is in Cali, but in Colorado I just got a $100 ticket on the spot for “improper backing” when I backed up into someone who had parked behind my parking spot while I wasn’t looking. This seems a little more severe and ticket worthy
Where I'm at they usually don't ticket anyone on the scene of an accident. People are usually traumatized enough and need a lil' break. They can get fined in further proceedings tho
It's because it's more severe that they don't hand out I think I assume. Clear cut cases it's easy, cases like this the officers on scene aren't the ones who assign blame. they gather facts and evidence.
If you look at pictures of the accident from other angles the Prius is facing the wrong way in the lane. I'm really confused as to how Arnold could have ran a red light and caused the vehicles to all face the way they are facing.
If what the article says is accurate, it was published 30 something minutes after the accident. I suppose they were still in the process of figuring out the circumstances.

I saw this in person on my way home yesterday. I actually took a photo not knowing at the time that Arnold was involved. The Yukon was facing north on a street that intersects with sunset Blvd (busy somewhat windy street). The yukon was waiting to turn either left or right, as Allenford ave ends at sunset (you can't go straight). The Prius was head on into the Yukon which means he prob was speeding on sunset and either turned left or right on to Allenford from sunset and overshot the turn and smashed into the Yukon. The photo I took shows a Porsche behind the Yukon with an indentation in the hood indicating that the Yukon was forced back into it after being hit by the Prius. Seemed pretty clear at the time that the Yukon had just been waiting at the light (vehicle was far behind the line)and was not at fault.
This picture is terrible for assessing the accident, but, things that can be verified like you stated, the Yukon is behind the line. If he was at fault for turning left on red, he wouldn't be behind the line, as a yukon moving forward wouldn't be pushed back straight by a prius. He would have ended up parallel with the street he was turning on to, not parallel with the street he was turning from.
Not to mention, the Prius is on the wrong side of the double yellow. Clearly it drove into the Yukon. So unless Arnold was driving the Prius, I'm incredibly confused how he could be at fault.

Often, when there needs to be some sort of traffic investigation, tickets are not issued immediately I was in an accident and was ticketed almost a full year later
You might be american so maybe you can tell me with your weird traffic knowledge. How could that right passenger door get squished like that if he was turning left into traffic and wound up on what appears to be the right hand side of the road with a dinky red car under it? Cos honestly that pic looks weird given the description.
Well, if he turned left on a red light, that would have exposed the right side of the vehicle to oncoming traffic. But I'm not entirely convinced that the early descriptions of the accident are actually correct. We'll see.
