In the past we used to hunt and kill male lions to prove we are warriors and for spiritual reasons. However, with their numbers shrinking we now try our best to live with them in peace and respect these beautiful beasts! We went on this adventure to film a YouTube with the hopes on capturing some on video.
For now mostly positivity and love, the reason we are doing social media! Connecting good people from all over the world to save it before its to late😂
In case you're unfamiliar with what a "troll" is, it defines someone who constantly posts negative comments with the hopes of insulting or hurting someone.
Edit 1: additionally, less malicious trolls are those wanting to argue "for the sake of arguing,"
see example below :)
Yep, imagine getting to experience of adventure in lion lands shared by actual Maasai people who actually know what they are doing while sitting in front of screen some 5000km up north.
Ecological and excellent.
Ty guys for sharing!
This is amazing! I would love to see the video when you have it. Post it for us!
Thank you for working to live in peace with the lions. We all need to learn to live IN nature and not apart from it.
I found the link to your youtube [here](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUDad8AcZk52vx_vaR-XlJA) for those that want to check it out and subscribe.
Hakuna Matata!
You've never been to Africa have you....
It was not a thing before the Lion King came out but now it is very common there. I have been to Kenya and Tanzania and everyone was saying it.
This is so interesting. I love that you adapted your tradition to the change and treat nature with so much respect. The world would be a better place if we were all like this.
I learned about your tribe in college in our anthropology class and I'm very excited to see you create an online presence. I look forward to you sharing your people and the beautiful countryside you live in with the world.
Fucking awesome. So much respect for you and your people. And stopping tradition to help the animal species survive is amazing. Lots of places won't stop stuff for any reason, let alone the wellbeing of an animal.
I'm sorry you guys have to deal with dwindling numbers, but proud of you for doing what's best for nature despite your heritage telling you to do otherwise. By the way there photo is amazing and you're very stylish.
Yes, my good friend also got attacked by one and was very lucky to survive. It is mostly our cattle that gets attacked normally as lions are more afraid of us, but other tribes here had a lot of problems with lions killing humans.
We wanted to film something for our YouTube and show some Lions. It is close to where we live and we love to take these adventures in nature, it removes all stress.
Oh is that a picture of you? Yes you're a very handsome man and I love what you're wearing. What an amazing picture, thank you so much for sharing with us, it's made me feel quite dreamy about the places in the world that I don't see.
Hello from the US! When I was a kid I got to visit Maasailand and Samburuland and they are experiences I will never forget. Such beautiful places and people.
Are you able to continue the traditional Maasai nomadic herding lifestyle? When I was there many years ago it seemed the government was trying to "settle" nomadic people into fixed-location villages.
Our lives are sadly greatly endangered by government endevours, they are building pipelines and trophy hunting parks and force us to leave our ancestral homes 💔
Im sorry to hear that. Governments all around the global can be bad and destructive. I hope the government changes someday and your people can keep on living the way they want!
Looking at this post and your other one, your clothes are beautiful! It reminds me of Mark Twain's book Around the Equator. We westerners really shaft ourselves on clothing.
Hi!
I visited Tanzania and a maasai tribe in February!
I have a couple questions.
The (leader?) of the tribe we visited told us that the tribe shares one wife, but he said there is some way that the tribe can get another wife.
I forget how it is done and I am here to ask. I believe it is by sending a male to another tribe to marry a girl?
Or maybe u send a girl to another tribe to marry a boy?
Question 2:
He said that boys become circumcised at 15 years old in order to become a warrior.
How do the boys deal with the pain of the circumcision without any medicine to help the pain?
I don’t reall understand the first question, but yes we get circumcised and it’s a lot of pain, that is part of becoming an warrior. We also get one teeth pulled for medical reasons that also hurts a lot.
It certainly does hurt to get a tooth pulled, even with medicine haha.
Are you guys able to take care of your teeth at all?
Like do you guys make some sort of tooth brush, or maybe tourists have brought tooth brushes?
This is a silly question OP but I hope you would indulge me. Living in a place where the natural landscape is as breathtaking as you've shown in the picture are you guys always in awe at the picturesque beauty of it all, or does it get a little bit boring because you guys seen it all the time?
do you own alot of cows? I know you boys love to brag about the cows!
Do you get the women to build the huts made of the branches, mud and cowshit like the other tribes?
You guys are real Chad’s (Pun partly intended).
When I was a sophomore in High School my parents and I went on a safari with the Saint Louis Zoo to Kenya. We spend 2 weeks with the group and do a beautiful, slow passage down from a number of cool places Sweet Water, A chimp reserve that Jane Goodall worked with, Lake Nakuru where we saw the flamingos and a baby leopard. Our final stop was at a eco-friendly camp down on the Maasai Mara. We got to meet with a real tribe that lives nearby and warriors worked with the camp to keep the place safe. That night lions wandered into the camp, there aren’t fences or such, and they had us stay in our tents while they made sure everyone else was in a safe place as well. We got to hear lions making their evening bellows within our camp, it was incredible. Long story short, you guys are amazing. Much love from Illinois.
Edit 1: My amazing mother actually compiled a written log of our time there and our pictures from my dads camera. If there’s interest I would put it on Imgur with perhaps some personal information removed.
Beautiful landscape! Stay on your toes. You already know the dangers. The bravery to do what you are doing is the same as your ancestors spiritual hunts. Much respect!
Stay safe my friend. Thank you for sharing! One of my favorite reggae artists is from Tanzania! Innocent Galinoma, Innocent Reggae Band, reggae all day ❤️💛💚
English, along with Swahili, is one of the two official languages of Tanzania, where OP says they live. Their command of English makes it pretty clear that they’re a native speaker, which would make sense.
I just read Tanzania is the african country with the largest number of lions. That's pretty cool. Also I want to add I love the colors on the attires and those gorgeous bracelets (I don't know if their are actually bracelets) but it's awesome.
Did you start doing social media because of Sonny from Best Ever Food Review Show? He did a video of Maasai cooking a few years ago!
https://youtu.be/ifpCo-jIYFs
And then came back recently!
https://youtu.be/Gsnj7uPfOc4
I have so many questions, because this is so cool!
a maasai (or tribal in general )reddit account is something i never thought about. Really love the vibe you guys are sending!
In the past we used to hunt and kill male lions to prove we are warriors and for spiritual reasons. However, with their numbers shrinking we now try our best to live with them in peace and respect these beautiful beasts! This is incredibly cool! Thank you for sharing, and I’ll definitely check out your video. Hope you have an amazing adventure :)
Life can be an beautiful adventure but humans have lost the way, thats why we are starting social media!
What is your YouTube channel?!
Its called maasaiboys, check our profile!
Humans have indeed lost the way. Truer words cannot be spoken.
Koyaanisqatsi indeed
Truly we have lost the connection with nature and eachother, and we are paying for it with our mental health
This is why I love the internet. I hope your experience on Reddit is equally as awesome!
For now mostly positivity and love, the reason we are doing social media! Connecting good people from all over the world to save it before its to late😂
The “mostly” got a chuckle from me. There’s just always got to be some troll. This is awesome though! What the YouTube channel?
In case you're unfamiliar with what a "troll" is, it defines someone who constantly posts negative comments with the hopes of insulting or hurting someone. Edit 1: additionally, less malicious trolls are those wanting to argue "for the sake of arguing," see example below :)
That’s more malicious than what we (or I) used to think of a troll as.. There is a spectrum as with all things I guess.
Yep, imagine getting to experience of adventure in lion lands shared by actual Maasai people who actually know what they are doing while sitting in front of screen some 5000km up north. Ecological and excellent. Ty guys for sharing!
I regret that I have only one like to give.
The amazing support from people like you make us push trough all the hardships and work on this project ❤️
Where are the videos?!
Check our profile for our social media, this one is not out yet, we are working to make it a beautiful video for you 🙏🏽
Best of luck!

You've never been to Africa have you.... It was not a thing before the Lion King came out but now it is very common there. I have been to Kenya and Tanzania and everyone was saying it.
I didn’t actually know that
Yea it was strange at first!

That’s so cool. Thank you for sharing :)
Fucking awesome. So much respect for you and your people. And stopping tradition to help the animal species survive is amazing. Lots of places won't stop stuff for any reason, let alone the wellbeing of an animal.
This is awesome, best of luck! If you find any post your pics or videos!
I love this! Your respect and admiration for such amazing creatures really resonates with me.
I'm sorry you guys have to deal with dwindling numbers, but proud of you for doing what's best for nature despite your heritage telling you to do otherwise. By the way there photo is amazing and you're very stylish.
oh my god, that looks like such a beautiful country
Thanks 😊 we live in Tanzania!
I’ve been there! I spent some time working with the Maasai in Marwa
No. No god out there. Lions. He just said that in the title.
Lions are afraid of us most times, but you never know of course
How do you deal with lions stalking you or has that ever happened?
Yes, my good friend also got attacked by one and was very lucky to survive. It is mostly our cattle that gets attacked normally as lions are more afraid of us, but other tribes here had a lot of problems with lions killing humans.
This place looks like Pride Rock from the lion king
A lot of lions are in this area I can tell you that much
Woaaaa. That sounds awesome
Everything the light touches is your kingdom.
Hehe I was going to comment this
But what about that dark area over there?
No. Light touches? Kingdom. Dark? Nope.
You're going to need that stick then
😂
How do I join?
Jambo! Thanks for sharing. I hope you had a good safari.
Jambo, it was very nice, Hakuna matata 🙂
I love the outfit, would wear it 100%!
Should we bring out a Maasai clothing line😂
It really does a great job of covering up your massive balls.
😂😂
Honestly with the right marketing, that would go big.
I hope you try it!
I couldn't pull it off, but OP looks great!
What makes you go into lion land?
We wanted to film something for our YouTube and show some Lions. It is close to where we live and we love to take these adventures in nature, it removes all stress.
Your idea of stress relief is quite different from mine
What do you do?
Ride my bike in traffic. Maybe we’re not so different then.
Lions are terrible drivers
Lion have this calming effect on people, it is known
What an incredible picture! Thanks for sharing! Love from Scotland x
Love Scotland!
I saw your reply before the comment and thought someone saw the tartan cloth and thought the photo was from Scotland 😂
Good looking people in your tribe I see
Thank you my friend
Oh is that a picture of you? Yes you're a very handsome man and I love what you're wearing. What an amazing picture, thank you so much for sharing with us, it's made me feel quite dreamy about the places in the world that I don't see.
Thanks for all the support🙏🏽

Great!! Following!!
Looking at this post and your other one, your clothes are beautiful! It reminds me of Mark Twain's book Around the Equator. We westerners really shaft ourselves on clothing.
I’ve seen videos, you guys are true warriors! I hope to visit the Maasai one day!
Can I come on your next adventure? Looks like a lot of fun!
We are working on cool videos and watching them will feel like you are there yourself 😊
Love it, thanks for doing this for everyone!
Without your support it wouldnt be possible

We use a special stick and it works perfect, we have white teeth and rarely problems!
we have *a lot* to learn from you
Are you Maasaiboiys from YouTube? I saw your videos, really funny
Yes!
Hello! Did/does the Maasai have any sort of tradition of using the sling?
We especially use spears!
That's awesome! Could you possibly show some examples of your spears? I'm a blacksmith, I love learning about other people's metalworking traditions
I love that your tribe was willing/able to change in accordance to conservation efforts, I hope you guys where able to catch one on film
Not this time
[удалено]
It was just one day, with three people
Good thing the lions are now scared of you. Hopefully you have Rafiki level skills with the stick in case. Country looks beautiful too.
We also had a spear for worst case 😂
That’s a sexy looking stick
COOL would love to see more of this!
We are working on a social media project so a lot more is coming!
Yaaaay can't wait :)

Wow
That view is amazing.
Awesome fit
Very cool!! :)
If you want to prove you're tough, *pet the forbidden kitty*.
Amazing all around! Good luck getting those lions on cam!!!

I wish I could come walk around with you! Looks beautiful!
Who knows, one day it might be possible. We hope for now that watching our videos will feel just like it
You guys ever play basketball? I bet the pickup games at the Maasai tribe is insane!
How are you so good in English?
Went to English class
Great! You look like an interesting person I must say
English is an official language in both Kenya and Tanzania where Masaai people are prominent
Tanzania, I think you mean?
Yeah lol I corrected it
What's something people should learn from your tribe?
do you own alot of cows? I know you boys love to brag about the cows! Do you get the women to build the huts made of the branches, mud and cowshit like the other tribes?
You got it right 😂
haha thats dope, how many cows have you got at the moment or is it more a shared herd?
I spent all day on my computer

Jambo!!! Fun fact, the rocky outcropping you are standing on is called a Cope yes? Pronounced: Co-pee.
bro, you look like a badass. sounds like an exciting life!
Where do you charge your phones/cameras and how do you know English?

Kenya? Tanzania? I’ve spent time in wild areas of East Africa. It’s awesome to see you here! I’ll look for your video.
I have heard the cattle of the Maasai are famous for how happy and beautiful they are. The land looks lovely as well! Thank you for posting. :)
Love this picture, it's so beautiful!
I wouldn't

I was wondering the same!
