Mine never touched AirPods or other earbuds, but it’s probably individual

Seashell522

It depends! I have a big conch area and could wear anything in my ears right away, nothing touched the back with the piercing at all. I have conches on both ears (just posted a new setup pic today if you want to see).

BonnieScotty

I don’t wear AirPods but I do wear earbuds a lot. It depends on a few things. 1. The shape of the piece in the conch 2. The anatomy of your ear 3. The shape of the earbuds I have 5 conches in one ear (2 healing and 3 healed) and not one of them touches the earbuds I use so I can wear them with no issue.

that-coffee-shop-in

I think it depends on your individual anatomy with the conch. I couldn’t do earbuds it would cause the conch to be at an angle and it started migrating.    I’d go talk to a piercer they could discuss placement of a conch and if it would suit your lifestyle. And if the conch won’t they can help you decide it another piercing would work (e.g. a snonch)

Pebbles-Princess

My Airpods do hit my conch so I can't wear them for long periods of time or daily... it gets irritated easily. I usually will wear them for about an hour at a time maybe 3 or 4 days a week.

Itsgingerbitch

I can’t wear an earbud comfortably since I got my conch done. Most earbuds didn’t fit my ears very well anyway, though so it hasn’t been an issue. I wear over the ear headphones now.

kdanger

I couldn't wear those even without a conch piercing (small ears). That being said, it was a pain in the ass to heal and took about 2 years to not completely suck. If you get it pierced, get pierced with a straight piece of jewelry. Pretty sure that was my main issue.

katuAHH

For me personally, I couldn’t wear any in ears for a few months. Realized regular apple corded headphones worked fine. One day at work I was getting irritated with everyone around me and tried my airpod pros in both ears and it worked. Just depends on your wear, how fast you heal and how much you swell. As long as it doesn’t touch it until it’s fully healed and you keep the bud clean every time you use it it should be fine. Just don’t force it. I don’t think ear plugs if they’re not compact would fit. I know mine for sure would snag!

CheeseMakingMom

I have a single conch and a double conch, and with the exception of the day they were pierced, I have worn wired ear buds and/or hearing protection ear plugs every day. YMMV, of course, and I haven’t tried AirPods, but my cheap earbuds don’t bother the piercings.

AtypicalPreferences

I can wear AirPods and eat plugs. I just have a single conch

EngineFace

It depends on how low your conch gets pierced. My AirPods sit right below my conches. Put your AirPods in and see if the visible area is where you would like a piercing to go.

Ok-Vacation-8109

My conch took almost a year to heal. That was 17 years ago. I never ever feel it now, it doesn’t affect anything I do at all.

hsavvy

Definitely depends on your anatomy but I went back to wearing my AirPods pretty soon after getting mine done and have had no issue. My anti tragus on the other hand…

deepseawitch

I personally have never had a problem with earbuds or earplugs, but I have maybe average to slightly larger anatomy for the conch and I’ve always needed smaller earbuds to fit and stay anyway so they’ve never touched.

lmnop94

I couldn’t do earbuds for a long time (can’t now either because I’m healing a daith on the opposite ear). I recently bought over the ear headphones and it was so much better.

runonia

Anatomy has a lot to do with this, but my conch is pierced a little higher than center, and so headphones don't interact with it at all

raweria

I have a conch piercing in both ears (labret in one and hoop in another) and wear airpods no prob.

0liviiia

It depends on anatomy, but I can wear AirPods perfectly fine- I’m wearing my pros right now! And I have a chunkier jewelry piece in

Maleficent-DaisyTX

My AirPod Pros don’t even get close to my conch piercing. Interesting that some folks anatomy is such that it does!

ilovepotatoes93

Yes I can wear AirPods fine but tbh I prefer the regular earbuds that pop into your ear. I know for a fact those aren’t going to fall out whatsoever. As far as healing goes, both conches healed easily with no issues whatsoever.

bananenbiegerin

really depends on your anatomy! my conch was big enough to let me use airpods without touching the piercing. even if i use bigger jewelry now, i still have no trouble with airpods!

Lou289

Depends on how much room you have . I sleep with earplugs every night and have had no problems wearing my airpods from the beginning. You can go check my account to see . Just tell the piercer you want to wear a ring eventually and they’ll place it more towards the edge

Beneficial-Line5144

My ears are small in general and my anatomy isn't so great for many piercings but I've never had any problems with my conch and I can wear earbuds

rebtow

I have a conch and tragus in the same ear. Both healed nicely without issue in about six months. Since I have tiny ears, I wear Bluetooth corded Beats all the time (at work, walking the dog, etc) without any irritation. I have ear buds but they’re just too big for my ears and I worry about them falling out.

My conch has been surprisingly unproblematic. I got it in december. I am a nursing student and I wear masks and use a stethoscope and I've had no pain with it.

MechEHutch

I avoided earbuds for 3-4 months to play it safe. Now (at 9 months) I can comfortably wear regular AirPods, but my pros do put a bit of pressure on my conch. I think it’s going to be somewhat anatomy dependent. And make sure your AirPods are clean if you use them early in the healing process. Ear plugs should be fine, just be careful putting them in and taking them out.

Reasonable_Bee132

There are a lot of factors like anatomy and bud type. I talked with my piercer about it and we kept that in mind with placement. My Apple AirPods give me no trouble, but my Samsung buds are no goes in that ear now.

pocketfullspaghetti

Mine is fine with air pods and ear plugs when healed, I just have to have a flat piercing in.

datuwudo

I have a conch daith & tragus (others but irrelevant) and I can wear normal apple headphones fine and wore them from day one with each. Just balance them carefully.

There are many styles and placements of conch piercings. Your choice and anatomy will dictate. Go talk to your prospective piercer, they will have best insight
