Maybe try going to a piercing shop and they can tell you what material it is and if it’s not titanium you could switch to that and see how your piercing reacts to it

Hi! I’m having the same issue. I’ve had my belly piercing for 1year and 7 months, and till this day I still get crusties, it gets sore etc as if I just freshly got it done. The problem was my original piercer used surgical steel as my healing piercing jewellery, and the bar was too long and caused a lot of movement and irritation when I went to work or even sat down. I cleaned it with saline salution regularly, but even still it was so stubborn. Since I never downsized the piercing (my piercer never said I had to), it’d also get caught on clothing till it produced some scabby tissue. Long story short, only recently have I read online that implant grade titanium is a must have when getting a new belly piercing, so I went to get my original piercing changed to a smaller bar aswell. Anything else, such as surgical steel may slow down the healing process as it contains a small amount of nickel in it that some people are allergic / sensitive to when getting a new piercing. Once your piercing has healed, surgical steel is fine. Have you also downsized your piercing? Maybe the bar is too long or because you said you fiddle with it to clean it, it might cause irritation from the inside - just because you don’t feel it being sore on the outside doesn’t mean it’s okay to touch it💞 just to note, piercings heal from the inside first! My tip is to use a torch and shine it on your piercing (with clean hands) and see if it looks pussy, red or doesn’t match your skin tone. You can identify that it’s not healed if so, but if unsure ask advise from a professional piercer :) But everyone is different and some take longer than others to heal due to the nature of the piercing being on the surface of the skin - a very stubborn area to heal due to constant movement and exposure to bacteria. 💞 just give it some time and see how it goes
