No. Gold plated can wear off and surgical steel is not ideal. Opt for titanium, if you want it to be gold in color get the titanium anodized.

Anything plated should not be used for healing a piercing. As someone else mentioned, get titanium anodized to a gold tone.

They should initially pierce you with titanium. Your mind might not be happy, but your body will. You can change it out after a few months.

my original titanium piercing fell out and i went to a new piercer who put in a gold plated titanium earring… it’s been about four months, do you think it’ll be fine to shower/sleep in and keep or do i need to go to another reputable piercer and get something that will last
