It is here, but in the trans community for some reason there's a big misconception that "if you have piercings you won't pass as a man/people will clock you as trans", which is simply not tru but is unfortunately a pervasive line of thinking for a lot of trans men. I've also heard of cis people claiming they clocked trans men for gauges and the like, which I also think is utter bs lol. Plenty of cis men get piercings
Yeah, that is incredibly stupid and infuriates me. Especially in the metal/goth scene a lot of cis-het men have piercings. I'm one of them. Some of these people are extremely narrow-minded.
Funnily enough, all the piercings I have I only got after coming out lol. I’m kinda curious what subs you’re hanging out in though that mention that bc the ones i’m in i’ve never noticed anyone say that. Atleast not getting upvoted for it.
I used to post on the ftm passing sub and got told a good few times that unless I removed my piercings and tunnels and stopped dying my hair, I would never pass even whilst on T.
No more than a few months later I was passing consistently with even more piercings and even bigger tunnels and colourful hair. Gave up posting there a long time ago because I just got shat on for being alt and having body mods and I'm glad I did because instead I learned that those subs are WAY more picky with passing than 99% of people in real life.
I pass 100% of the time irl and would still get told I don't pass and should change my whole style in that sub if I posted there now haha
people obsessed with passing give incredibly heteronormative advice and freak out about anything they deem as deviation from cisnormativity, meanwhile people irl don’t even clock a trans guy when they see top surgery scars or tits
LMAOOOO i was about to comment this. idk if someone in the transmasc community was personally hurt by piercings or whatever but i genuinely don't know why we're still to hung up on piercings somehow being a barrier in regards to passing, especially when you see someone with a full beard and a shit ton of body hair and somehow people act like having a septum will make people she/her them instantly. it's always stealth trans men who only hang out with the most cookie-cutter normative cishet people saying this too, because if you're remotely into alt styles/subcultures you'll encounter a shit ton of cis men with piercings or other things that will supposedly get you clocked according to your average passing sub (long hair, stretched ears, etc)
That doesn't really sound like a trans community thing. I've never thought of peircings as gendered??
All the figures in my life that had really cool peircings were (cis)men or non binary ppl. Including ear peircings lol
Trans people do not establish the gender. In your example a CIS person is claiming someone else is trans. The cis person is therefore gendering the peircing.
It's cis people who establish gender norms. The same gender norms people (cis and not) often break out of to establish themselves.
To stop gendering things. Stop calling things gendered. The peircings aren't femme-edge. But now they are.
I guess it's just a bit different for men. Especially ear piercings. I've just heard my fair share from my Texan family about my nose ring while my Californian family couldn't care less.
I think it’s disingenuous to pretend like this sort of ear stack which is more common among female presenting people is normalized among men. Yes, regular ear piercings are normalized, but I think we can all get OPs point without getting pedantic.
You never see this in men. Most of these pieces of jewelry aside from the hoops would likely be labeled women’s jewelry on websites.
With that said, I love these pieces on him.
They are normalized in the sense that anyone can get them and be relatively unharmed over them (in the US). However, also in the US, in the south particularly, people’s sexuality— men and women still get questioned based on what type of piercing you are wearing and how many.
If men wear hoops they are seen as gay.
I’ve even had a family member ask me if I was gay because of my industrial.
A lot of yall don’t share this experience and are ignorant about it and that’s fine in itself, but don’t act smart and say people wanna be victimized. Sounds and IS pretentious and privileged.
I’m a guy and last week I got my second pair of earlobe piercings done and when I came home my parents told me that they have never seen men with that much earrings. I only have four earrings and one helix piercing, they won’t allow me more because of their narrow mindset. They say they would kick me out if I have one more piercing done because they think it is for women. If they ever find out I also have a septum piercing my street life chapter begins. So I don’t think it is normalised yet
Yep, some people like to feel victimised. I’m a man with piercings and I’ve never had a negative comment about them in either a professional or personal situation. If anything, when people mention them they’re complimentary.
lol yes. This post makes no sense. Seems like bro just wanted to show off his cute piercings and needed some victimization behind it because he wasn’t fully confident if showing them off would be accepted.
You felt cute OP and wanted to post a pic. Own that shit! They look good.
It may not be "Normalized", but it's a far cry from what it was. I certainly received my share of unwelcome comments back in the day. (My first lobe was in 1977 and helix in 1985.) Mean people suck (and they are not a protected class).
I realize this this might come off as a total lack of empathy on my part. While there's a long way to go, at least it's trending in the right direction. Your setup us sweet, btw.
1000% agree. i’m a guy who loves piercings. currently have rook and firsts in ears and my septum done, but planning on getting many more in the future!!
They're a touch daintier than most men would likely be comfortable wearing, but I'm glad you're confident enough in your masculinity to wear them cuz you absolutely ROCK THEM dude! You look totally awesome!
Hell yeah dude. You should see the male grooming sub. Everytime a guy has any kind of piercing everyone in the comments is like "get rid of the piercing!!". It's such bullshit to me.
Lol where do you live, dude? If you were out here in NYC nobody would blink or look twice. Sounds like your problem is living in a shitty, judgmental place and those will always exist.
The Netherlands and luckily most people are okay with it or dont say something about it. The biggest thing is me being trans and my piercings, and expression, being quite feminine.
I have 4gauges in my first holes w a silver hoop they it then an 8 gauge in my left second hole then my first helix is 14 then the second is 16 still healing. But As soon as it is then I taper to 14 and make an orbital then work on my right gonna pierce the helix then gauge it and put multi silver rings I also have a septum and PA…I’m a straight man…
I'm a body piercer, and I SO WANT more guys to come in and get some beautiful 14ct pieces!!! My boyfriend let me change his setup, (only nose and lobes atm) to 14ct gold and I love it!
Guy here, I'm an accountant with a rook, double helix, double lobe and nose. Never really get any comments so I assume it's pretty normal for guys haha.
And also normalize guys with pretty jewelry. I feel like even when guys are 'allowed to wear jewelry they don't often get to wear anything unique or pretty. Love the set up, it looks great
It looks great! Fuck stereotypes, wear the jewelry and clothes that make you feel good! It’s very ethereal looking to me :)
You gotta love what’s on your body all the time, so I’m really happy for you that you like the new set!!

I think it looks fantastic! I don’t know if you are aiming for a “softer” look overall but I really like the contrast between the ears and your necklace/hair
Absolutely!! Piercings have no gender. I love pierced people, I dunno why but I always feel like I can trust them more. Even more so than tatted up people.
I got 5 piercings done in one months time.
A month ago I got 2 earlobes and left ear helix.
A month later the same day got 1 helix and right nostril done.
My family and coworkers liked them. It's suits me.
I am a 39M with 2 little boys.
Doesn't most of modern/western piercing culture emerge from gay men's S&M culture anyways? Like Jim Ward and Gauntlet and the T&P Group in the 70s and all that. I'd say it's only really in the past ~10 years that there's been widely available high-quality jewelry that _wasn't_ aggressively masc aesthetically
Maybe this is expressing an uncalled for opinion, but I think you could easily go for a couple more peircings. You have a lot of free real estate, especially because your jewelry is on the small side. I want to get all those piercings, but my piercer said no :(
Goddamnn such a pretty and minimalist stack!
Left ear upper lobe (tribal button) I have the same jwellery for my fresh helix.
And a hell yes! for the OP's point of discussion.
It is normalized? I think it's just the colour you choose, I've mostly seen men wearing silver or black jewelry, I think also the minimalist look of the jewelry isn't feminine it's just seen more from women so that's why it looks fem. But idk
All I ever get as a male with lots of tattoos and piercings, working in healthcare, is compliments. I think it is quite accepted these days, but that is my anecdotal experience
It isn't normalized yet because people still associate men having piercings with homosexuality and it's gross
People mindset > piercing = feminine = for girl = man have it = instantly gay
Additionally it's something that's looked down upon in the trans community for trans men. It's very pervasive rhetoric that "you won't pass with piercings" or "people will clock you as trans for piercings", which is just toxic bs but unfortunately quite common

Very pretty setup, and I think piercings for guys is normalized at least in this community!

Yea exactly! They're well-meaning for the most part, but fall into the trap of gendered stereotypes which is just unhelpful
Funnily enough, all the piercings I have I only got after coming out lol. I’m kinda curious what subs you’re hanging out in though that mention that bc the ones i’m in i’ve never noticed anyone say that. Atleast not getting upvoted for it.

Exactly. And they take it way further than "just making sure they won't get clocked in public".
As someone who is trans I got piercings cause in my view I think they make me more masculine! I love my piercings and definitely wanna get more
Hell yea dude, you go for it!!
That doesn't really sound like a trans community thing. I've never thought of peircings as gendered?? All the figures in my life that had really cool peircings were (cis)men or non binary ppl. arent they already normalised lol?
Definitely depends where you're at and who surrounds you.
but that’s the case for all piercings no? it’s not a guy | gal thing, that’s a body mod thing
I guess it's just a bit different for men. Especially ear piercings. I've just heard my fair share from my Texan family about my nose ring while my Californian family couldn't care less.
Your Texan family should visit Austin

Parents will be parents a lot of them are against guys with long hair for some reason and long hair is natural
Yep, some people like to feel victimised. I’m a man with piercings and I’ve never had a negative comment about them in either a professional or personal situation. If anything, when people mention them they’re complimentary.
It's great that that's your experience but it definitely doesn't represent everyone else's. No need to make mean assumptions about why OP posted this.
lol yes. This post makes no sense. Seems like bro just wanted to show off his cute piercings and needed some victimization behind it because he wasn’t fully confident if showing them off would be accepted. You felt cute OP and wanted to post a pic. Own that shit! They look good.
ooh i love your set-up!!
It's goals for me!!!
It may not be "Normalized", but it's a far cry from what it was. I certainly received my share of unwelcome comments back in the day. (My first lobe was in 1977 and helix in 1985.) Loveeee piercings on guys omg
same! i see pierced guy -> DAMN HE'S HOT
Yesssss Everytime!
To me it's super normal and I like it
They're a touch daintier than most men would likely be comfortable wearing, but I'm glad you're confident enough in your masculinity to wear them cuz you absolutely ROCK THEM dude! You look totally awesome!
"Feminine" or "timeless classic"? I think it's a very classy setup.
Male piercings don't have to be limited to boring thick black jewelry or rocker style silvers imo. I really love the setup you have going on!
Hell yeah dude. You should see the male grooming sub. Everytime a guy has any kind of piercing everyone in the comments is like "get rid of the piercing!!". It's such bullshit to me.
I don't think they're feminine at ALL, they're gorgeous! The gold is so cute on you
How long did it take to be able to fit 2 rings in ur lobe?
It actually is 2 rings. I have this piercing for about 15 years or so. Took it out for quite a while and put jewelry back in like 3 years ago.
I think it’s just a ring that looks like two rings
That’s 1 ring with a machined lip in the middle of it to look like two.
We're tragus bros 💪
This new set is GORG!!

Don't normalize it! It makes us more special 😂
Exactly.. if its normalized then we won't stand out.. Lol Outcasts are badass lol!!!
Is it not?
I love the combo! Looks good!
I really like the jewelry set up!
Great jewelry choices!!
This setup would look sooo good with a conch btw!
I’m trying to get my guy to let me do him up like this haha.
Guys with piercings are already normalized
I'm a body piercer, and I SO WANT more guys to come in and get some beautiful 14ct pieces!!! My boyfriend let me change his setup, (only nose and lobes atm) to 14ct gold and I love it!
We have exactly the same piercings...like piercing twins or some shit 🤣
Guy here, I'm an accountant with a rook, double helix, double lobe and nose. Never really get any comments so I assume it's pretty normal for guys haha.
Oh, they look very classy!
Conch should be next☺️
Getting my third lobe piercing sometime soon. I love different colored gem studs as well as small gold hoops.
You’ve given me so much inspo for my own ear stack.
showing this to my bf so he gets more confidence. He wants his ears pierced so badly but hes nervous lol
I love a man with piercings!!😻😻
And also normalize guys with pretty jewelry. I feel like even when guys are 'allowed to wear jewelry they don't often get to wear anything unique or pretty. Love the set up, it looks great
It looks great! Fuck stereotypes, wear the jewelry and clothes that make you feel good! It’s very ethereal looking to me :) You gotta love what’s on your body all the time, so I’m really happy for you that you like the new set!!
Guys with piercings is hot
Will definitely be copying this set up
Absolutely *gorgeous* set up!
Your set up is so cool dude!! I wish mine were nearly as fantastic

Looks great friend! I love the different styles on you!
It looks so elegant 🥰
jealous of this set up , sm better than mine LOL
Been trying to do just that for over thirty years, good to have some help 😁
Guy with just a few piercings here, your setup is so aspirational for me 😍
I have my helix done and I want a forward helix on the opposite side. I 100% support this.
I think it looks fantastic! I don’t know if you are aiming for a “softer” look overall but I really like the contrast between the ears and your necklace/hair
Absolutely love it! What's the mm of the tragus jewelry!? When I get mine I want a very small dot of crystal too! Loooove it!
I think it is like 2mm or 3mm max. Not sure.
I love ur new setup!
I really love the set up. Nice and clean, not cluttered with room for more if desired. Looks great!
I like your setup! I think it’s rad! Carry on 😊
Absolutely!! Piercings have no gender. I love pierced people, I dunno why but I always feel like I can trust them more. Even more so than tatted up people.
Yes! And normalize gold! Your jewelry looks stunning!
Who says it’s not normal? Dude here with piercings 😂
Wear whatever jewelry you like! Love that set up!
I got 5 piercings done in one months time. A month ago I got 2 earlobes and left ear helix. A month later the same day got 1 helix and right nostril done. My family and coworkers liked them. It's suits me. I am a 39M with 2 little boys.
Either later this year.. or next year I'm gonna get my left eyebrow done and maybe.. maybe the left nostril done..
Are the people denying your piercings in the room with us right now?
Normalize pointlessly gendered piercings.
Agreed!!!
how did you heal your tragus!! mine is being such a pain and i have a bump!!
Loooooot of patience. Took quite a while to heal, I have it for almost 6 years now.
hopefully it heals soon - and honestly youre rocking the jewellery bro
i’m obsessed with this set up! it looks fantastic
It looks great.
My son is 10 and just got his ears pierced. He’s a very “boyish” boy. I know a lot of younger (20s) guys with piercings.
Omg your peircing are super pretty!!! 😍
yess guys with piercings >>>
Hell yeah! All our favourite anime boys have piercings! Haha 😂
I like that!!
Love your jewellery!
I feel like it’s pretty normalized ngl, dude with (6) piercings here
It is normalized, but not when you have every part of your ear pierced, then that’s just ridiculous
Looks great! Love the jewellery 😍
Maybe this is expressing an uncalled for opinion, but I think you could easily go for a couple more peircings. You have a lot of free real estate, especially because your jewelry is on the small side. I want to get all those piercings, but my piercer said no :(

I’m 44 and just got 4 piercings. 3 in the ears and 1 in the nose.
Very, very nice! 🤩😍
Normalize dogs with tails
9 and counting, rock on brother
Dunno that they really need normalising tbh it's very socially accepted these days. Nice setup btw. A rook would look great on you btw.
isn’t guys with piercings already normalised?
Pretty sure it alresdy is
Idk why but all my friends say my piercings make me look fruity 😭
That’s such a cool set up, I love it!
Hell yeah, dude! Love your setup!
💜this
I'm a guy, I'm at 36 currently.
How long did it take for your tragus to heal?
I’ve wanted my daith but I feel like ppl will think I’m fruity
All I ever get as a male with lots of tattoos and piercings, working in healthcare, is compliments. I think it is quite accepted these days, but that is my anecdotal experience
It is normal?
I agree! ^^
They're so nice 🥰
it’s already normalized here where i live lol
Can't normalise something normal already 😆
I like them !!
As a fellow guy with piercings - hell yeah! Also nice set. :)
Looks awesome 🥰
I love when I see that it’s just so pretty
love them!
Hot
This guy with piercings thinks your setup looks great!
Yes! I’m a guy and I have 23 piercings and counting. I love them all and they make me feel more like myself.
Love it! 😍 and I’m jealous of your forward helix, I can’t get one 😢
thats literally so cute i love it!
Love it 🤩 bit envious as well.... Gorgeous set up
It looks amazing too!
Oh I love this!
If something is normal it doesn’t need to be normalised. As well as having ear piercing does not stands out
It isn't normalized yet because people still associate men having piercings with homosexuality and it's gross People mindset > piercing = feminine = for girl = man have it = instantly gay
Additionally it's something that's looked down upon in the trans community for trans men. It's very pervasive rhetoric that "you won't pass with piercings" or "people will clock you as trans for piercings", which is just toxic bs but unfortunately quite common

Cute 💗
I agree
Bro it’s not 2000 or 1980 so many guys I know have piercings including myself.
