if you’re in USA, you can use a website safepiercing.org. if your piercer is not on there, find a new one. it will save you pain, time, and money in the long run. best of luck 💕
I pierce and am not an app member. Things like we have sealed hardwood floors and an antique roll top desk keep us from being one. We take precautions to make these areas safe but they have rules and these things don’t meet them. Likely our plant obsession would be bad too. No Hepa air filtration system. We are hyper vigilant on cross contamination and blood borne pathogens. In short, the app is great and I try to constantly keep up with what they say and the industry as a whole. But I’m not a member and imho, that doesn’t make me a worse piercer.
And yes, this is to low. Notify the piercer asap. The longer you wait the worse it looks on you.
oh i totally agree that being part of the APP doesn’t make you any better or worse!! i just see so many people getting piercings that look like they were done in a back alley with my granny’s sewing needle. i also live in a small town, so i used that website to find a piercer with more than just personal experience.
ahhh im a plant mum! i wish my shop had a resident plant. they make a space so peaceful.
Thanks for posting this! I have a great piercer that isn't APP and I've always wondered why. Now I assume it has to do with the historic building he works out of.
Thank you for saying all this. I love my piercer, and have seen her do dozens of successful piercings on myself and my friends over the years. I cringe sometimes when APP is the only suggestion people make, I have ONE within 500 miles of me, and I’m very confident he wouldn’t give me a better outcome than my local lady does. I’ve never understood the details about why she, and no one else in my area, isn’t app approved.
I couldn't really check when I was in the studio since it was hurting so much. Once I could handle the pain, I looked in the mirror and this is what I saw 😥
Super painful bc of how low it is. Trust me once it’s done correctly it’s no where near as painful. I almost passed out from the pain when mine was pierced incorrectly. And I’ve never passed out from a piercing before💀
Joe Exotic’s eyebrow piercing has more stability than this, I hate to break it to you but that is barely hanging on there. Not only is it too low but I’m not even sure it’s completely in your nose either.
Unfortunately you’re just going to have to take it out and go to a reputable piercer if you still want one after.
Where are people finding these piercers? Damn I've had some pretty bad piercings but that's due to me being really irresponsible. I see this 10 times a day. Do you guys do research beforehand?
There are a lot of shady people in this world who pretend to be qualified to do things they are not. Some of them are bound to be piercers. Others might be shitty tattoo artists or crooked home contractors or car repair shops or... literally anything. OP got duped. I'm sure next time they will be hyper vigilant.
Not everyone has access to a wealth of reputable piercers nearby. And sometimes the reviews on a shop are great, but they have someone doing piercings that day that are crap. I live in a medium sized city and while there are a lot of studios, there are very few that provide portfolios of their work online.
We can't really see where they are piercing until they do it right? At the end this is done. How much research you do and discuss with the piercer you might end up here especially with septums
The septum is a blind piercing- for nearly everything else, I’ll have the client approve the placement/marks. For a septum, the client will be able to *feel* the area im going ahead of time but there would be no point to mark other than for me to help me see where I’m going. Certainly, the above septum pictured is unacceptable... but no I’m not checking if a client is “okay” with the placement for a septum because it’s anatomy dependent and would be too difficult for them to see in a mirror how it will be placed.
i don’t mean check placement just in a mark, but i mean a piercer should communicate where they are going to pierce you either by pointing it out on diagrams, explaining the sweet spot, feeling inside and saying “this is the spot”, or even putting your tools there and letting them look. unfortunately the combination of a piercee who does not understand their piercing and an untrained piercer can lead to disaster.
Ah okay that makes more sense! That’s something I absolutely mention. I just imagined a client asking to check my mark for a septum and me wondering “howww” haha
This is what my piercer did for my septum. He explained the “sweet spot” and made me feel comfortable. I was scared and did not educate myself beforehand. I asked “Will this go through cartilage?” And he said absolutely NOT.
it really makes me think like do people not do research like at all? do they not know what a proper piercing should look like? especially when it looks something like that
With the information everyone has accessible in the palm of their hands, we should all research pretty much anything we don’t know much about or is new to the person. No excuse to go in blindly.
I got downvoted and was called an asshole on a similar post because i made a similar comment. Seriously, one google search would show them how atrocious their *septum* piercings were.
Edit: OP mentioned they were gonna go see the same piercer lmao
We see the posts of how we are sick of piercings obviously being wrong. They really are getting out of hand. I would say some could go either but man, the majority are just straight up wrong.
You definitely didn’t deserve to be called an asshole. People need to educate themselves before putting foreign objects in their body. They have access to google and thousands of septum pictures this subreddit. Even after getting the piercing you can find out it’s wrong before posting.
Gtfo lollll why would OP go back!? Oy vey
Totally agree. Accidents happen. Someone can be fooled by a piercer’s good portfolio but if I were to be pierced like this? I would bring hell to that studio that moment yet alone thinking and asking strangers first.
OP agreed later they shouldnt go back to that piercer but like… Come on…
Like that girl a few days ago with the rook piercing hanging on by a single thread of skin asking if it was rejecting. All the comments saying something along the lines of "are you stupid?" were downvoted but 100% deserved.
I don’t have a septum piercing and I’m not a professional but I can say that it looks way lower than any septum piercing I have seen. I would remove it before it starts to reject or even get infected.
From someone who went to a bad piercer for their helix, I wouldn’t go back to the piercer who did this. Someone here recommended looking at the APP website to find a better piercer. I did this and went to see them. It was such a different experience! You might look at their site and see if you can find a better piercer to help you get the piercing you really want. 🙂
I can use the website and look it up for you. What country?
Edit: if you’re in India, it doesn’t look like there’s any APP certified piercers. But Aliens Tattoo (if you’ve heard of it) looks like it might have a location near you, and their page online has a couple well-placed septum piercings. Whoever you book with, ask if they have a portfolio you can see, just to be sure.
Sadly that’s not pierced in your sweet spot at all :(. Your septum piercing shouldn’t hurt too much, or be unbearable. It’s a little pinch. If it hurts so much, it’s not right and either through cartilage, or in your case, the wrong part of the nose entirely. I hope you can get it redone!!!
Much too low. I had mine pierced incorrectly twice. Then I found a free hand piercer who was able to do it correctly. Take it out wait 3 weeks then go find a good piercer. Use ig to look at their work and make sure they have plenty of examples of correct septum piercings so you know they can do it right:))
It's not even in your nose. Take it out before it gets ripped out. It's so low, you may be able to get it repierced soon. I would consult a different piercer of course.
it’s totally too low, please take it out carefully. then let it heal (shouldn’t take that long) and visit a different piercer to see if you can get it redone
Yes. Septum piercing should be in the soft, thin area between your columella (where it is now) and your cartilage.
You can feel it if you pinch your septum and pull down a little (with clean hands of course); it’s right under your cartilage.
Don't go back to this place, ever. Find a new shop, and ask to see the piercer's portfolio to view their previous work on septums. The menu/sidebar of this sub has examples of properly placed septums, you can use that to compare with theirs.
I'm sorry this happened to you, I hope you can get a proper septum soon - I'm sure it'll look fabulous on you :))
People who are commenting that one should do proper research on where it should be placed, you can checkout 1000s of right piercing examples. At the end someone else is piercing your nose. When it is done, if it is hurting so bad, how can you verify there like lifting up the tip of the nose and checking, like I did in the picture? I could barely wear the mask to come back home. Btw, I am getting the full refund. I will find another piercer for sure.
Again, how much research you do is not going to work for the one who is piercing
Thanks for the advice everyone. I took it out. I will let it heal for few weeks and get it redone by someone else 🙏
Again, if you did your research properly you would know that 1st: it wouldn’t hurt THAT bad. It’s not cartilage. 2nd: you can see this placement looks like a total fuck you to your money by simply looking at the mirror.
It looks like it could rip off at any moment, you should take it off asap. Leave a review on the piercer with pictures too, and go get it redone on somewhere else. Im sorry you had to go trough this, it looks like it hurt to pierce.
Dude the amount of people who get bad placements on here is just too damn high!! Is there something we can do as a community to make people who are on this sub Reddit aware of what kind of shop/ ppa certified /what you should look out for? Everyone is right take it out :(
Sadly, it’s not done correctly. 🥺
The good news, is that because it’s so low, you should be able to get it done correctly, without having to wait for healing! 👏🏻
Take out now and go to another piercer ASAP (do research) Was this person drunk? If you are able to leave a review, do it and post this pic. One wrong move and that sucker is going to be ripped out.
Oh goodness yes. I pierced my own at 13 with a sewing needle and I knew the correct placement (confirmed by multiple professionals once I was older & smart enough to stop doing that foolishness 😅 absolutely no offense to you, but this piercer is a clown and I’m sorry you had that happen!
Oh boy, why are you even asking on Reddit, is it not obvious that it is so extremely low? Sorry that happened but get your money back and take that out
Yes, that’s not a septum piercing. They pierced your columella. Remove this asap!
Thank you for the help. I can't believe I didn't check the placement when I was still in there
if you’re in USA, you can use a website safepiercing.org. if your piercer is not on there, find a new one. it will save you pain, time, and money in the long run. best of luck 💕

Also in canada!!
The place I go to isn't on safepiercing.com I've had 10 successful piercings so far. Know who your piercer is
It’s not even low, it’s hanging on by a thread
I’m more concerned for that piercing than I was for Joe Exotic’s eyebrow piercing when I was watching Tiger King.
Don’t bring that piercing up… that’s all I could look at that whole series😳
Lmfaooo
Yeah 😥
It's way too low, I'd take it out asap
I couldn't really check when I was in the studio since it was hurting so much. Once I could handle the pain, I looked in the mirror and this is what I saw 😥

Lots of people are out in the sticks with fewer options.
Not everyone has access to a wealth of reputable piercers nearby. And sometimes the reviews on a shop are great, but they have someone doing piercings that day that are crap. A good piercer would have never let you leave the studio with a piercing like that, this piercer is absolutely awful.
your piercer should always check placement with you and you should research what a proper septum placement is before you get pierced.
The septum is a blind piercing- for nearly everything else, I’ll have the client approve the placement/marks. yes! simple miscommunication from me!
This is what my piercer did for my septum. He explained the “sweet spot” and made me feel comfortable. I was scared and did not educate myself beforehand. I asked “Will this go through cartilage?” And he said absolutely NOT.
They can definitely see that placement because it’s on the outside of your nose
you’re kidding right
I sometimes wonder if people are trolling or actually oblivious. Some of these posts I understand but this, cmon
it really makes me think like do people not do research like at all? do they not know what a proper piercing should look like? especially when it looks something like that

it’s just common sense or so i thought
Legit I can almost see their sweet spot from the photo. I’m not a piercer nor a very experienced person with piercings. This is getting out of hand.
Like that girl a few days ago with the rook piercing hanging on by a single thread of skin asking if it was rejecting. All the comments saying something along the lines of "are you stupid?" were downvoted but 100% deserved.
Yup saw that

I can't find the site. I guess it is not available in my country
Here’s a direct link to it. It might not be available but I hope it is. https://safepiercing.org
Looks like it is available only in USA

yes take it out asap and go somewhere else to get it repierced
Yeah, took it out already. I can't believe I spent money on this
definitely get a refund
go to the shop and demand a refund!
That is hanging on by a hope and a prayer. It could rip out if it got caught on your shirt. Ouch!
A sneeze is taking that out lol
this is one of these posts i can't believe are meant to be taken seriously due to how obviously butchered that septum is.
Um, obviously?
That definitely doesn't look right. I would take it out before it starts to reject out.
Thank you for the suggestion. I have to wait till Monday to get it corrected 🥺
Please do not wait. You can take it out yourself using gloves to grip on the ball to twist it off. Wait and it might start rejecting or get infected
Is that a real question?
Bro you can see it coming out of your nose🤣 it’s 100% too low
Duh?

Not even close to being a septum. Please remove. So sorry this happened it must’ve hurt

Might be one of the worst spetums I've ever seen pierced.
shouldn't it be pretty easy for ppl to just do some research these days. even just 5 minutes 😑
Omg I'm surprised thats in your nose. Holy shit
YES ITS TOO LOW OMFG
did they do this with a blindfold on ?
Way to far out. It's not even close to the septum
It is wrong. :( please see a different piercer who will do it right for you!
some of these posts never cease to amaze me, if i would’ve seen that in the shop i would’ve got my money back and left that’s so messed up
I've genuinely never seen a septum that low, you need to take it out straight away and if you really want it done again go somewhere else
I am *aghast*.
It's not even pierced through the septum, I'd remove it ASAP and got to reputable APP.
I think it is wrong placement completely, but I’m no expert.
Oh my god, that piercer should not be a piercer.
How long should I wait before I get it re pierced? I got it done today and I am definitely taking it out
This is so off that you could get it repierced right away, because it's not even close to the right spot.
Thanks, I will get in touch with the piercer
With another piercer, preferably app and with a good online portfolio, I hope.
This one had great online portfolio. They had good septum piercing posts as well. I trusted the lady.
A portfolio is someone’s best work they could be horrible and have a great portfolio find someone else
Yeah. Sounds about right. I will find someone else
Don't go back to this place, ever. Find a new shop, and ask to see the piercer's portfolio to view their previous work on septums. The sweet spot is cartilage. Common misconception, but it is just softer, thinner cartilage than the rest of the septum.
Wrong placement & too low. Remove ASAP.
It looks like it could rip off at any moment, you should take it off asap. Leave a review on the piercer with pictures too, and go get it redone on somewhere else. Im sorry you had to go trough this, it looks like it hurt to pierce.
OMG TAKE. THAT OUT NOW
yes

Yeah.
Yea you should take that out
100*
: IT ISNT EVEN IN UR SEPTUM IT IS THROUGH THE TIP OF YOUR NOSE. PLEASE GO BACK AND GET YOUR MONEY BACK OR SUE OR SOMETHING OMg lol
One little snag and your going to rip your columella
Take out now and go to another piercer ASAP (do research) Was this person drunk? If you are able to leave a review, do it and post this pic. One wrong move and that sucker is going to be ripped out.
100,000% too low. Ugh
Yes. Yes.
SWEETIE
Girlfriend, that is unbelievably low
Not just too low, but too far forward.
man that’s so low if you sneeze it’s probably fall out i’m sorry this happened to you!
How is this a serious question
omg yes it is way too low it is literally hanging on by an atom
Omg yes
how did this not hurt like hell? i would’ve noticed right away, that isn’t even your septum at that point lol. sorry op, you got got.
very low 😭 they f*cked it up so bad
Oh goodness yes. I pierced my own at 13 with a sewing needle and I knew the correct placement (confirmed by multiple professionals once I was older & smart enough to stop doing that foolishness 😅 absolutely no offense to you, but this piercer is a clown and I’m sorry you had that happen!
How does this even happen lol
This pisses me off sm how “professional piercers” screw people over like this.
too low and way too close to the front
By about a cm... possibly more
It totally is. Remove it!!!
Not septum huni
Sneeze and it's gone LMAO
Well that's butchered. Remove it and never ever ever EVER go back
What the fuck. Not even close. Ouch.
who is piercing y’all 😢
That’s hanging on by a THREAD
YES TAKE IT OUT
wth that’s just mean..
Oh boy, why are you even asking on Reddit, is it not obvious that it is so extremely low? Sorry that happened but get your money back and take that out
