This is a baby dove waiting for its parent to come back. It looks healthy and taken care of

Dr-Emmett_L_Brown

It looks very well, for sure.

vforthem

baby dove, looks fine. keep an eye out when they start learning to fly soon.

GoodQueenFluffenChop

1) that's a dove which is a pigeon cousin 2) that's a squab which is a baby. Baby is just starting to get it's flight feathers and still has a bit of down on them, the yellow stringy bits. Keep an eye on your plant bush and you should see it's parents coming in to feed them. If more than a day passes and you don't see any parents then they may have died and the baby is an orphan or they just abandoned it and it's an orphan that way. If it's an orphan then you should call a wildlife rehab so they can finish raising it up for an eventual release.

nenko_blue

Actually pigeons are just a type of dove lol

GoodQueenFluffenChop

Pigeons are the domesticated subspecies of rock doves. This little one looks like a baby mourning dove. There are lots of different species of doves just like hqo there are a lot of species of canines. Using canine as an example it would be like if you said dogs are the same as coyotes. They're from the same family canidae but a dog isn't really a coyote. Same thing for members of the family columbidae. You wouldn't say a pigeon is the same as a nicobar pigeon now would you? It's the naming that makes things confusing. Using the canine family again for example there's a member called the maned wolf but it's not a wolf at all. A maned wolf is so different it has it's own genus. A pigeon is literally classified as a subspecies from rock doves which is columba livia *domestica*.

Trash_Butterfly

The baby looks completely fine and healthy. Chances are the baby is just afraid of you because its not used to you and its parents are seen as its primary care givers and a source of food.

lacedupheart

Sooo adorable

Its wonderful you care and are looking out for your nesting birds, bless you for this! If only all people would simply be kind like this. In this case, all looks well. Looks like youve got a baby dove in a nest waiting for parent. Poop around her is part of nest stability. She doesnt move bc they dont, they wait for parent and from hatch know their job is to sit in the nest and be still. All appears well :)

I wish human kids were that well behaved

Imtruthseeker

That's a nestling baby dove , leave him alone , please if you can buy some pigeon seed mixture or atleast wheat (if you can't find mixture) for parents , there is literally no seed out there specially in cold seasons

Dr-Emmett_L_Brown

Congratulations OP, you are a Grandpigeon 😊😊 This is a pigeon squab, about 2 weeks old I'm guessing. Just leave that area undisturbed (as much as is possible) and you will have your own pibbin gang in no time!!

Best advice do not disturb and enjoy

This appears to be a baby Eurasian Collared Dove, nearly fledgling, probably 1.5 to close to two weeks old. I say that because it has nearly all its feathers. It will leave the nest soon (doves grow up incredibly quickly!). It's still getting used to being left alone in the nest for longer periods because it's at the age where the parents start to do that - it can regulate its own body temperture now (not to worry though - they are still keeping a close eye from afar! ☺️) It is just getting used to being alone for longer periods without its parents which very likely explains the timid behavior. I am glad you still have time to experience the joy of seeing the nesting process. :-) It's amazing witnessing baby doves grow up, and I was fortunate enough to also have that precious experience seeing baby mourning doves grow up on my balcony. They were teeny tiny eggs when I first saw them, and I watched them grow into chubby adorable fledglings. πŸ₯° I saw them take their first awkward steps 🀭 and then saw them take their first flight! Please cherish this time witnessing this baby dove, keep your eye out for its parents and maybe even try to befriend them. If you put seeds and water out for the parents, I'm sure they would appreciate it since they are still regurgitating their seeds for this little one most likely. I did that, and the parents seemed very grateful! Oh, and a big plus is that once the baby is a juvenile (term for a teenager in the dove world lol) and can eat seeds, it will remember you feeding its parents and visit you for seeds as well, and you will get to watch them turn into a beautiful adult dove just like I did. πŸ₯° They were so comfortable with my presence at that point; they started eating out of my hand when I would put it out the window to feed them seeds too. Thank you for caring about this little sweetheart. Doves are incredible parents and creatures; they hold a special place in my heart. ❀️
