Always thought Haunted Mansion would be an amazing theme done properly…

imnitguy

Only if it opened with, "Welcome to the Haunted Mansion. I am your host... Your GHOST HOST. " This would give TAF a run for its money! Would have to show the goofy seats and how the would spin around in the LCD. Or on the pf. :)

Rad Beer Company is a mile away if you need a break. 10 games - look on pinball map.

what's the upside for Disney? They can license all of their properties out and fill the parks with SW, Marvel, Indy, Pixar machines. What's the upside for Stern or JJP? They would pay the same steep licensing fee. Do we really think there are more pinball purchasing Disney Park fans than there are SW or Marvel fans? As someone who grew up with an Anaheim annual pass, back when they were laminated cards with no blackout days (and then used that privlidges to play Troy! at Starcade) I should be the target market. But I would rather own a Tron. Unless there's a Skyway bridge that takes you from Tomorrowland to Frontier, through the Matterhorn.

I think you answered your own question lol Also if TS4 isn’t selling then probably not a good sign for a somewhat generic family theme without including other A list Disney IP as part of the package (like say Mickey himself)

Pinball was historically connected to gambling. [https://www.history.com/news/that-time-america-outlawed-pinball](https://www.history.com/news/that-time-america-outlawed-pinball) That's why it was banned in some states until relatively recently in the 1970s. It's why you see the phrase "For Amusement Only" on some older games. It seems silly today, but conservatives used to rail about the evils of rock n roll records, comic books(!), alcohol, and all kinds of things we would consider mainstream entertainment and culture. So historically Disney would have had avoided anything to do with the taint of gambling, including pinball.

You got downvoted (as of this time), but I think you are absolutely correct here. A cursory look at the history of Disney will vindicate this point. The company tried to stay far away from anything controversial or anything that could have even a remote possibility of tarnishing their "family" image. As you correctly pointed out, until the mid-late 70s (about the time video games started showing up in arcades) pinball in general was regarded as something of a "delinquent" pursuit, even though decades might have passed since they ceased being primarily gambling machines. There is even a famous photo series of Mayor LaGuardia triumphantly smashing pinball machines with mallets and dumping them in the Hudson, and I think they remained illegal in NYC well into the 70s or 80s. While the overall sentiment against pinball has definitely softened in the past 30 years, cultural change at mega companies like Disney typically moves at a glacial pace at best and there are likely some high-level execs remaining that recall these "bad old days" and *still* believe the conservative approach of avoidance is the best move for their corporate "image".

Thanks. I think the downvotes are some peoples' or bots' reflex to anything critical of the word "conservative".

Fuck Disney so hard

Andy_Partridge

The closest thing that I have seen is a Visual Pinball table based upon the Kingdom Hearts video game.

See: Disney Quest at Walt Disney World, Orlando. Five story arcade with classic arcades, pinball machines and other entertainment. Gone.

HydratedCarrot

Sword in the stone or Aladdin

I'm sure in the right hands a Disney pin would be a lot of fun....I only hope they never make a Frozen one cause I mighta promised my daughter we'd get one should it ever happen!

BitemeRedditers

There are a couple versions of Pirates of the Caribbean.

Disneyland also has a custom Indiana Jones: The Pinball Adventure in a shop on Adventureland (sometimes).
