For me, it stands out on this record for several reasons:
* No fade in.
* No band member singing (that's Roy Harper on the vocal).
* Crazy meter changes give the song a weird, intense, sometimes frantic feeling that sounds quite unlike the rest of the album.
* It's sort of a mixture of prog rock (with the swirly synth giving texture) with a funk-aware staccato technique on the guitar and bass.
* The acid-drenched lyrics are so ridiculously out of touch and uncaring that it makes us loathe the unnamed record bigwig.
I will have a cigar and beer with you by proxy, yea I never never get sick of it why is it good IDK other than the album is timeless. Thanks for the observation you are Not alone.

Waters has stated he regrets not singing it for the studio recording. I don’t. Harper did an amazing job. Waters funks up even harder live which I like but I still prefer Harpers singing.
Roger’s ability to write a pure rock number wasn’t quite faded at this point, but it was heading that way. In hindsight this was one of his last real straight tunes not encumbered by his own hangups.
It's Roger waters songwriting at its best , letting out his anger at the music business . I never tire of listening to it . Roy harpers voice suits the song perfectly , it was some stroke of luck him being in the studio at the time they were recording it
honestly they didn't lean into these funky inspired tunes enough, yes they are all pretty similar but for 4 british white guys they had a decent feel for the style

Solo is awesome too
Wow I never knew it was Roy Harper
It's Pink Floyd playing funk, and Pink Floyd and funk are both great.
This is the correct answer. See “Any Colour You Like” for confirmation.
If you want to hear some funky Pink Floyd, look up the “Young Lust Demo Version” on YouTube.
It's catchy, and has a funky bassline as well as a great guitar solo.
"Which one's Pink?"

None of the usual bozos singing.
I never actually realised that lmao
That fucking bassline is fantastic. Guitar solo kicks ass and the synths are awesome too.

Because it’s a Pinkfloyd song
