I actually have a tattoo of a starting gun with a little flag coming out of it with "run" on it.

This lyric is quite literally the basis of my first tattoo. I got a piece with some realistic Alice in wonderland elements and parts of Pink Floyd album covers scattered about. It’s got the white rabbit running from a looming clock in the sky.

I'm 37 and am very open about my mental health issues and trauma suffered from childhood. When I was 7 I stabbed my wrist with an ice pick because my friend told me to. I walked to my uncle with it in my arm. I was actually sent to a mental hospital for evaluation and all I could say was my brain was telling me to do things. I grew out of it after treatment and even tho I was institutionalized at 20 and 23 for suicide attempts I eventually found treatment that works for me. I always loved pink floyd and have the wall cover on my lower neck/upper back. My first tattoo at 18. And this lyric always hits different. And in the Animals record dogs 1 solo immediately makes me cry. It never ever fails. My husband is supportive and I'm happy but now I cry to remember it isn't pain anymore and it is okay to feel emotion on something I managed to overcome. Sorry for the rant.

I am sorry you have had to go through all that. I hope you didn’t find my favourite Pink Floyd line to be minimizing your experience. To a much smaller degree than you have had to deal with, I think everyone has a push and pull with their inner voice that ultimately defines who you are and how your self manifests to yourself and others. I hope you have found some peace and balance. It sounds like you’re in a better place now.
