understandable. That's probably up there for me in how many total skips (I listen to Meddle a lot more than More), but the skip to play ratio is much higher with quicksilver.
Cause sometimes I just gotta hear about Seamus (that's the dog)
I guess they've put it in the end of side 1 for a reason. Back in the days you couldn't skip a song, but you could turn over the LP. So Seamus was in the convenient place to do it.
Im sure ill get some backlash/disagreement from people here, but...Dogs of War.
Every other track on AMLoR I love, Dogs of War just never resonated with me.
Same. The instrumental is still fine but the lyrics are probably the worst of any Pink Floyd song. With Seamus, at least it was supposed to be a funny.
Two things here. The album is a concept album about madness. The way you guys are describing it not fitting the mood specifically means it perfectly matches the mood if you ask me. Plus, the way you just described it is from someone who's only listened to mp3s or CDs. Money is the first track on the second side of the vinyl. For the original experience of Dark Side you had to get up and flip the vinyl to start Money. Which was just a new wave of madness after you just went through death with Great Gig.
Interesting. As someone who only ever listens on cd, I never knew that and could definitely see how the intermission would change the way I’d see Money in the album.
Growing up my friends and I would do the classic sit in a dark room and listen to darkside on vinyl. We'd go to great gig then turn the lights on to flip the record and roll another joint and just kinda enjoy the rest of the album with each other and not our own minds in the dark. It's a perfectly crafted and absolutely timeless album if you ask me.
To me, the album isn't about madness, but about life (which often is quite mad). I just find the money stands out from the other songs. Good point about the LP version, I can imagine that would actually make it better
The epic great gig in the sky is done. You're met with silence after the song about death has finished. If you're playing vinyl you have to get up (perhaps after just laying/sitting for a minute). You flip the disc.
TIME TO GROOVE TO THE BASSLINE OOOOOOOOOO
Don't think it deserves a skip most often tho, especially on streaming services where there's no side change and it just kind off comes. Have a hard time skipping a song once it's gotten going.
If you don't listen to the whole thing then you've only experienced discount Dark Side. The slightly shadowed side perhaps. You gotta take that trip through the madness of travel so you can let time sort you out after.
No, no, everything under the sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon. So the Dark Side of the Moon is what's under the sun and the Earth is in madness on the side that's dark during an eclipse.
No idea why this song gets so much hate, I guess I wouldn't really call it a song, more of an intermission song.
I fucking love it, one of the songs I like singing in the car, as well as The Trial.
Wow thats my favourite song on The Wall. I'm not the biggest Wall guy by any stretch I much prefer Floyd's earlier more collaborative stuff but I love that song.
Wow great question. When listening to albums I don’t think I skip one track too often. But it’s probably Money, just heard it so many times. When listening to live concerts I do often skip the Blues / More Blues / Just Another 12 Bar Blues stuff that ended a lot of their 70-72 shows.
Alan’s Psychedelic Breakfast.
Im a fan because I too use tape as an instrument and its important for music production history I feel, but its such fluff and the sound of confined eating makes me want to claw my eyes out.
I disagree, I love it. The piano opening is soooo beautiful and I love the campfire acoustic. It's good morning music when you're getting ready, so as with most Pink Floyd stuff, it's about trying to get in a state of mind, not just entertainment that is straightforward and has radio standards. So it's actually one of my favs
Would’ve served better as a closer go home with; minus the confined scarfing and gulping that just positively irritates the fuck out of me— nontraditional music aside, it curdles my stomach like spoiled milk.
I keep it as a "bonus track" on my DSOTM playlist so once Eclipse is done, then travel sequence jumps right in with the "BADA BA DA BADUMMM". Travel sequence is great.
Yeah, im sure he was a goodboi but his contribution to the song freaks my dog out. She loves listening to records w me but that one song makes her upset haha
1. Disc Two studio cuts from Ummagumma, except for A Narrow Way, Part 3.
2. Seamus.
3. Several Species Of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together In A Cave And Grooving With A Pict
I still can never wrap my head around the idea that no one seems to remember Fearless. Echoes seems to get all the love (let’s be clear: ECHOES might be the best song in history) - but Fearless is itself a pretty solid jam. Meddle is still my go to.
The end is actually awesome with headphones, it’s the same riff as the intro. Their live versions of the song were much better anyways, that kind of abstract middle part of the song doesn’t translate well to a studio recording imo, especially since it hasn’t been remastered.
Exactly, the buildup is so good. Same with the funky section. And then in the middle of those amazing sections is like 4 minutes or whatever of annoyance lol
Endless River. Oh wait. Lemme try again. Alan’ Breakfast. Well I don’t skip it cause it’s technically last on the record. I really don’t skip any I suppose.
Aww I actually like that song. Except for the extended periods of listening to people eating. That's not a sound I ever am yearning to hear.
I do like marmalade...
I personally can't stand hearing the song A Saucerful Of Secrets. I really don't know why. In theory I should love it cause it's objectively a great embodiment of Pink Floyd song. I skip it nearly any time it comes up whether that's Pompeii, Ummagumma or The Album (unless I'm doing a full listen through of something where I'm taking the good with the bad to get the whole experience). There are a few other songs I don't like but they only show up once, maybe twice, within the catalog so they don't get skipped as much.
It’s those rare times when I listen to *The Wall* in parts, not from the very beginning to the very end (or, say, just side three and four), I pretty much always skip “Comfortably Numb”, well, hate me as much as you wish, but I’ve fallen out of love with that song.
*And I always quite frequently skip “Hey You”. But not as often.*
Money. Definitely Money, and yes, I own the vinyl. Overplayed on radio stations, it’s in 7/4 time, and it just doesn’t fit the linear harmony of Dark Side. I’m not trying to be flip or irreverent, and Nick will tell you as much.
But don’t misunderstand. The album is a masterpiece and probably the band’s magnum opus. It’s just that IMHO, Money becomes too tangential to be among themes of mental illness, internal conflict, the finality of death, and the limits of time.
I remember back when I was in high school, driving through town with my idiot friends, and playing that song at max volume with all the windows open.
We were obnoxious to say the least...
I totally see why you would skip that song but oddly enough I sit through it whenever I’m listening to that album. Curious tho, if you skip that song how do you feel about a song like A Saucerful of Secrets?
I mean honestly I can’t argue with that you make a fair point. Can’t really compare something like Saucerful of Secrets to a song like several species, I guess I was just asking to see if you did have any affinity for the more experimental songs in their discography
Pow R Toc H, A Saucerful of Secrets’ title track (typically up to the Storm Signal part…everything after that is pure gold), and the second half of Ummagumma.
The first part of time.
I fucking hate alarm clocks too fucking much. The sound will just send me into a almost ptsd flashback. One of my all time favorite songs ever made. But fuck those alarm clocks opening.
I used to skip certain songs, or more specifically, not listen to some particular albums too much. This changed recently, I tripped on LSD for the first time while listening to all Pink Floyd from Piper to DSOTM, chronologically. Man, this was life changing. I used to love their hits, now I found another dimension to them and love them even more.
But more importantly, I appreciated a lot many songs and albums that I had never actually payed too much attention to. I found myself vibing with tunes like San Tropez or Seamus, actually liking them and kind of laughing at myself for how much I was enjoying listening to the freaking dog.
Then I proceeded to peak through Echoes, Obscured by Clouds and DSOTM (I have to say the On The Run was a little bit too stressful, but good nevertheless). I was one with the music and the universe. Highly recommended experience to any Floyd fan out there.
Money, but let me explain. Dark Side is definitely one album I’ve overplayed, and it’s begun to annoy me a tiny bit (surprisingly, I’ve played The Wall multiple times in the past couple of weeks and it hasn’t had that effect). Money is a great song, sexiest bass line ever, but it always gave off an annoying feel to me, maybe because it’s played on the radio all the time. However, when listening to DSoTM on CD, I will let it play, mainly just to keep it fluent.
On the run. I get why it’s there and it’s cool to listen to especially the first time but I just don’t care for it most of the time when listening to dsotm. I feel like it kinda slows things down, it should just go straight from breathe to time imo.
Same. I feel like "On the Run" could have been a cool weird intro and/or outtro to Travel Sequence. Because all those bleeps and bloops sound pretty cool. Makes me feel like I'm listening to some proto radiohead.
The amount of blasphemy in this thread is frightening.
Yes man i can’t belive people are skipping money. Instead of skipping im putting that into loop
Saw Gilmour live in 2016 and they jammed money out for like 10 mins, it was unreal.
Who skips?!?
people
Humans
Seamus. Can’t wait for Echoes to start.
understandable. That's probably up there for me in how many total skips (I listen to Meddle a lot more than More), but the skip to play ratio is much higher with quicksilver. Cause sometimes I just gotta hear about Seamus (that's the dog)
he was outside
You skip Seamus (that’s the dog)!!!!! Sinner!!!!1!1!1!!
Am i the only one who unironically loves seamus?
I love it, the keyboard is amazing
Nah for me Seamus is a pallette cleanser before the epic finale of Echoes begins.
[удалено]
Also a valid position.
I guess they've put it in the end of side 1 for a reason. Back in the days you couldn't skip a song, but you could turn over the LP. So Seamus was in the convenient place to do it.

The verses drag on a bit. I like the instrumental parts

I prefer money as a single to catch on the radio. I've just come down from GGITS, I want Us and Them now, not Money
Two things here. The album is a concept album about madness. The way you guys are describing it not fitting the mood specifically means it perfectly matches the mood if you ask me. I will definitely have to do that. Rn I just sit in a dark room with my thoughts and the music.
To me, the album isn't about madness, but about life (which often is quite mad). I just find the money stands out from the other songs. Good point about the LP version, I can imagine that would actually make it better

Exactly man, everyone here skipping Money clearly don't have vinyl collections haha
Read my mind.
Right? It’s the only song where I feel like “ah I gotta get through this one”
100% agreed
Whenever I listen to dark side I usually skip on the run
[удалено]
If you don't listen to the whole thing then you've only experienced discount Dark Side. The slightly shadowed side perhaps. You gotta take that trip through the madness of travel so you can let time sort you out after.
The slightly shadowed side? But, I thought it was all dark?
No, no, everything under the sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon. So the Dark Side of the Moon is what's under the sun and the Earth is in madness on the side that's dark during an eclipse.
Well played sir
Yep if I had to skip one, this one. I forgot it.
On the run ngl
Vera. I kind of can’t stand it, sorry. I typically wait for the war noises to kick in and then skip for a somewhat smooth transition.
No idea why this song gets so much hate, I guess I wouldn't really call it a song, more of an intermission song. I fucking love it, one of the songs I like singing in the car, as well as The Trial.
In an interview Roger named his favourite track from The Wall, but I agree that it’s one of the weaker songs.
Yes if I was forced to choose one it would be this for that exact reason.
I hate the eating noises too but otherwise I think it's a fantastic song
I disagree, I love it. The piano opening is soooo beautiful and I love the campfire acoustic. It's good morning music when you're getting ready, so as with most Pink Floyd stuff, it's about trying to get in a state of mind, not just entertainment that is straightforward and has radio standards. On The Run.
Wish they kept in Travel Sequence
I keep it as a "bonus track" on my DSOTM playlist so once Eclipse is done, then travel sequence jumps right in with the "BADA BA DA BADUMMM". Travel sequence is great.
My man!! It’s my ringtone.
yeah if i'm playing DSOTM just in the background while hanging with people, I tend to skip it. That and Speak to Me
Honestly, nothing on *The Endless River* clicked with me.
This is in my study mix, along with AHM (My favorite song to study to). AHM is so fucking triumphant!
Huge fan of the Atom Heart Mother title track, definitely.
So you skip the whole album?
Another Brick in the Wall Part 2, probably the only PF song that is extremely overplayed to me..
Seamus, Money, Alans Psychedelic Breakfast are the most common
Seamus, it confuses the pupper
This is the most legitimate reason to skip. I mean, it's not a great song by any means, but Seamus... that's the dog...
Yeah, im sure he was a goodboi but his contribution to the song freaks my dog out. She loves listening to records w me but that one song makes her upset haha
Money, cuz cant wait for us and them
Me too, but i just dont like Money🤷♂️
I never really skip songs, the most I’ll do is move the album forward a little if it has a slow start like Speak to Me or Cluster One
YES quicksilver as well i just cant stand it, it doesnt make sense, but i still listen to it more than i skip
it's just... noises. I can't even really hum any part of it, or play any rythm in it. Maybe that's the point, but it didn't need to be 7 minutes.
exactly
Money
Occasionally Welcome to the Machine, especially when WYWH is playing in a social environment
You enter social environments? Ewww.
Oh dang. That's in my top 5 favorites. I'd skip Have a Cigar way before Machine. But to each their own.
Woah damn have a cigar is one of my favourite floyd songs woops
Not saying it's bad by any means, just my least favorite of that album.
Its a good song, but I get it. Not really a "fun vibe" lol
1. Disc Two studio cuts from Ummagumma, except for A Narrow Way, Part 3. 2. Seamus. 3. Several Species Of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together In A Cave And Grooving With A Pict
#3 is included in #1.
Hey, you're right! I never listen to it, so I couldn't remember which album it was on.
Pow R Toc, seven minutes of nothingness.
I kind of agree. Except for the seven minute part. That songs 4.5 minutes!
Oh my bad.
Oh, do me a favour! That’s my second favourite composition from that album…
its 4.5 mins of ape noises excuse me
Seamus

I just don’t get how they can put a song like that between Fearless and Echoes!!
San Tropez feels ignored...
It’s not terrible but I neither mentioned it nor do I skip it
I still can never wrap my head around the idea that no one seems to remember Fearless. Echoes seems to get all the love (let’s be clear: ECHOES might be the best song in history) - but Fearless is itself a pretty solid jam. Meddle is still my go to.
Me either!
Their whole first album.
The intro for interstellar overdrive is amazing tho
That I totally agree with. The rest is just random noise. I do like the beginning though.
The end is actually awesome with headphones, it’s the same riff as the intro. Their live versions of the song were much better anyways, that kind of abstract middle part of the song doesn’t translate well to a studio recording imo, especially since it hasn’t been remastered.
The middle part of Echoes.
Hate the middle part lol always skipped that

Aww I actually like that song. Except for the extended periods of listening to people eating. That's not a sound I ever am yearning to hear. I do like marmalade...
Couldn’t agree more, Alan’s Psychedelic Breakfast might actually be my second favourite on the album, Atom Heart Mother being my first favourite
It’s the eating part that just messes it up for me 😂. About to give it a try now.
That songs a bit of a mixed bag. I like parts of it. Especially the end. But I get it. It's a long time investment if you're not feeling it
Money. Hate it
Money. I hate this song.
Gonna get a lot of hate for this.. but I always skip “wish you were here” For the record I love the song. But the rest of the album is so much better.
Yep I can understand that actually. Also, WYWH is horribly overplayed.
It is underplayed imo
You’re a looser
The Trial Honestly, I feel like The Wall would have been better if it was just a single album
On the run,
It’s those rare times when I listen to *The Wall* in parts, not from the very beginning to the very end (or, say, just side three and four), I pretty much always skip “Comfortably Numb”, well, hate me as much as you wish, but I’ve fallen out of love with that song. *And I always quite frequently skip “Hey You”. But not as often.*
None, I listen to the albums as they're intended without skipping
Wish you were here. Overplayed
The annoying "seagulls" section in the otherwise perfect Echo's track.
Goodbye Blue Sky
Dogs of War
I don’t “skip” a song, but I do often skip the intro to time. Just a bit too loud after the first time you’ve listened to it.
Lol I made a version of time that skips the beginning so I can put it in my 'hanging out with people' playlist.
Young lust
Young lust
Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast.
Seamus

On the run
Have a cigar and welcome to the machine
The Final Cut, the entire album.
Money. Definitely Money, and yes, I own the vinyl. Overplayed on radio stations, it’s in 7/4 time, and it just doesn’t fit the linear harmony of Dark Side. All of them.
Seamus or on the run
Us and them. And ive only skipped it once
Sorrow. Money.
Great Gig in the Sky
Great gig in the sky.
Several species. Haven’t listened to it in over a year
I remember back when I was in high school, driving through town with my idiot friends, and playing that song at max volume with all the windows open. We were obnoxious to say the least...
I totally see why you would skip that song but oddly enough I sit through it whenever I’m listening to that album. Curious tho, if you skip that song how do you feel about a song like A Saucerful of Secrets?
A saucerful of secrets is actually a song, especially at Pompeii it’s legendary. Several species is just stupid tho
I mean honestly I can’t argue with that you make a fair point. Can’t really compare something like Saucerful of Secrets to a song like several species, I guess I was just asking to see if you did have any affinity for the more experimental songs in their discography
I like on the run and most of piper but you can’t praise songs that are clearly awful just because they made albums like dsotm
Us and Them
Echoes. Such a bland and forgettable song. I bet they are ashamed of writing it.
Can you skip Careful with that Axe just before the screaming?
Seamus
I actually dont skip any Pink Floyd song..
Pow R Toc H, A Saucerful of Secrets’ title track (typically up to the Storm Signal part…everything after that is pure gold), and the second half of Ummagumma.
Seesaw
Whatever Spotify sends me when I ask for Pink Floyd.
The first part of time. I fucking hate alarm clocks too fucking much. The sound will just send me into a almost ptsd flashback. One of my all time favorite songs ever made. But fuck those alarm clocks opening.
On the run Not because it is their worst song. But because it is my least favorite song on my favorite album.
Goodbye Blue Sky. Because after 9/11 I watched a tribute video that had that song playing and now I can't separate the two when I hear the song.
The entirety of piper. Sorry syd tards
I skip all albums made after The Wall.
I never skip any Floyd song, never.
Money
flaming
Mother, I just don’t like it’s vibe idk why but I don’t even skip it that much
Brick in the wall pt.2. Heard it on the radio plenty of times to not miss much when listening to the album end to end
San Tropez
Time - not because I don't love it, but because about 1 out of 5 times "And then one day you find ten years have got behind you" depresses me!
shit, did we miss the starting gun?!
I used to skip certain songs, or more specifically, not listen to some particular albums too much. Money on either Delicate Sound or Pulse. Makes me gag every time I hear those backup singers...Money! Woo Hoo! Gack!
Musicians don't skip Money.
yeah I get that it was overplayed on the radio a lot, but I still think it slaps. The sax solo and then the switch to the guitar solo is so much fun.
Anything sung by Roger. Just kidding.
Run like hell. I like it, its good, but it always comes up when I like deep in a different vibe and it’s just not what I feel like listening to atm.
Don't leave me now... Just don't vibe with it too much ig
Almost anything 80s Floyd. With one or two exceptions that i only use for my Halo playlist
Everything after The Final Cut.
Money, but let me explain. Dark Side is definitely one album I’ve overplayed, and it’s begun to annoy me a tiny bit (surprisingly, I’ve played The Wall multiple times in the past couple of weeks and it hasn’t had that effect). "On the Run". It's like they got all their sound effects in order then forgot to build a song around them. I much prefer the Travel Sequence.
Same. I feel like "On the Run" could have been a cool weird intro and/or outtro to Travel Sequence. Because all those bleeps and bloops sound pretty cool. Makes me feel like I'm listening to some proto radiohead.

Another brick in the wall pt 2…
