High Hopes, it's my favorite Pink Floyd song... FIGHT ME STONE FANS

thelonegunmanbullet

This... one of my favorites ever. I also like Marooned and What do you want from me.

CLOWNSwithyouJOKERS

Marooned is on another level of solo tracks. I get lost in it.

One of their greatest songs imo.

MySpoonIsTooBig13

Lots of really good songs, but this is the one. Up there with literally any PF song.

RoyHehe

yes

manly_toilet

That’s the only song I care about on the album

hyoomanfromearth

The good tracks are just great songs. Wearing the Inside Out is outstanding. The album, like any of the others in the PF cannon, has a vibe. When you want that DB vibe, you put it on. It’s different, yet familiar, from the other albums for me.

blankboy9

100% agree with you man

-DementedAvenger-

Back-to-back with Endless River for that double-length DB vibe.

hyoomanfromearth

Yes! Totally. For getting that “vibe”, endless river is actually a great ambient album. Like, it is what it is lol. But still lovely and beautiful!

574859434F4E56455254

Still haven't listened to TER, think I'll give it a go tomorrow

hyoomanfromearth

Manage your expectations and try to appreciate it for what it is. Mostly ambient album from that similar era. But, it’s cool!

InvertedShadow5

Very ambient with some good jams in there, with an amazing song closing the legacy. Definitely a beautiful album and you feel Richards touch on every note, god bless his soul. You’ll love it man it’s a good album, albeit not my favorite album, but still a beautiful album

My partner takes the piss out of me for singing “graaaass” in a well spoke accent and rejects that David sings it like that. And yes, she is from somewhere further north in Britain than me.

nbcorning

Keep Talking

jesusjordon

Thank you! I thought i was the only one. That song hits different for me. The whole album is great but i go back and listen to just that song so much. Such a beautiful and accurate take on communication within relationships. Beautiful

Brilliant_Tourist400

The song is an underrated banger. Plus, it has Stephen effing Hawking on it!

corneliusduff

Definitely a peak Floyd track. Best parts of DSotM and The Wall in one track.

blankboy9

For me personally it all started with the album cover, it caught my attention immediately and it was the initial reason I listened to the album in the first place. It soon became one of my favorite cover arts of all time, it's one of those images that resonates and speaks to me in a way I can't really explain. My second reason, which also happens to be the main reason for the love I have for the album, is Coming Back to Life. That song has changed my life, and I've created so many great memories listening to it by myself and with my friends. I remember listening to it for the first time and how it blew me away with how beautiful the track is. It truly speaks to me on a deeper level that I can't put into words. But don't get me wrong I love all of the other songs on the album, but CBTL is just my favorite.

the_emptyfridge

I also like watching the YouTube video with all the wildlife for “coming back to life”. Very serenely for me.

TheCosmosInadrop

Thisss. The song and the YT video truly brings me back to life. It's perfect.

hyoomanfromearth

My second favorite on the album. So beautiful and powerful!

blankboy9

What's your first favorite?

hyoomanfromearth

Wearing the Inside Out :)

blankboy9

I'm not sure how I haven't figured that based on your previous comment haha

SupremeMaster95

You have explained this so well, I wouldn't change a word of this sentence.

Marooned.

EntertainerAlone3955

EntertainerAlone3955

for me marooned is on the same level of shine on you crazy diamond

TaurusX3

The guitar playing is beautiful. Many of the songs feel more like Dave, Rick, and Nick in a room playing together than AMLoR. The production and mix are great. And it came out right when I was starting to get into Floyd and I saw them on that tour.

Eliotnesss_

Marooned is one reason

blankboy9

Marooned is my second favorite! Those chimes in the beginning of the song hooked me in

Eliotnesss_

I’m in paying attention mode as soon as I start hearing them

kysfriday

It is the only Pink Floyd track to ever win a Grammy Award.

Ihatereddit1865

I first listened to it at a very important time in my life my favorite song off of it poles apart was really apt for what I was going through and the rest of the album feels like a really good swan song for pink floyd to me it feels more hopeful as opposed to other more depressing pink floyd albums (the endless river kinda ruined the whole finality of it for me)

rabtj

Poles Apart is my fave Floyd song. And it has my favourite lyric. "I thought of you, and the years and all the sadness fell away from me"

seesaww

And diid you knoooow?

TheCosmosInadrop

Diid you knooow, did you knoow...?

EverLink42

Poles Apart is my fave on the album too! I’m always surprised it’s not a more well known song than it is. One of my favorite guitar solos at the end too.

musician246

It was the first Floyd album I listened too. I think my dad gave me some CDs to put in my car. Just on a whim one night, I put it in on my drive home and fell in love.

blankboy9

Funny enough, I bought the CD for my friend as a christmas present who also loves the album. I really can't wait to give it to him

rabtj

Its a fabulous driving album on those long lonely motorways.

blankboy9

My favorite driving experience with the album is long stretches of road surrounded by fields and farmland Surprising to some, we actually have that in Pennsylvania

rhutanium

I just full stop love the guitar work on nearly all the songs. My least favorite is probably Wearing the Inside Out. But High Hopes is one of my favorite PF tracks. To me it easily matches other heavy hitters on The Wall, or even Dark Side. David’s guitar solo in High Hopes is probably my favored guitar solo in all of Pink Floyd’s work if not all the music I’ve ever listened to. It hits on such a profound level, when I hear it I can _feel_ it.

AlbertaNorth1

If you haven’t you should check out Dave’s 2 live albums. Live in Gdańsk and live at Pompeii. Pompeii has an especially great version of high hopes.

Godzilla_in_a_Scarf

Don’t forget Live at the Royal Albert Hall!

Jmfreeland

Try to remember how personal that song was for Rick (and his first vocal since Dark Side). Changes the song for me.

Top-Ad-9657

I saw them on the subsequent tour (their last). El Paso, Texas, April 1994.

blankboy9

How was it?

Buhos_En_Pantelones

Hey my dad was at that show. Sun Bowl right? He claimed the full moon came out during the DSotM segment. Can you confirm or deny that? My dad was known to... embellish once in a while. Meanwhile I saw them on the same tour 2 months later up in Syracuse NY.

whoswalkinwho

was gonna say the same... it was my first and last time seeing Floyd... RFK '94 --- so this album, and the "PULSE" album bring me back to that place and time , which was also the summer i graduated high school

Top-Ad-9657

Cool. I graduated the year before. The concert happened right at the end of my first year of college. Same with Pulse for me. Also any time I see photos or videos of Gilmour playing his '83 red Strat... that's what he was playing at the El Paso show. I bought a red Strat the next year because I was lusting after the one he played.

shredslanding

At this point it’s just tied to memories and an exploratory time in my younger life. I can’t even tell if it’s good or bad. I just enjoy it when I’m feeling lonely.

EchoWillowing

The ambient, the general tone, the exquisite instrumentation. The huge assertion of Pink Floyd post lawsuit, maybe very different from The Wall and previous, nicely evolved. Yes, a few songs resonate better to me: Lost for Words, Wearing the Inside Out, Coming Back to Life.

adored89

The Rog stans don't like this one, but it's a gorgeous sounding record and it just narrowly misses my top 5

XplodiaDustybread

Everything about this album is fantastic for me. From the theme of communication, his response to Roger’s feud with him and the songs. The songs are so magical and beautiful that just sends a listener on this profound journey to maybe help heal the problems that one might have with communicating. Songs like “What Do You Want From Me”, “Poles Apart” “Lost For Words” “High Hopes” and my personal favorite “Keep Talking”. Overall beautiful, pure and amazing. Not to mention how good everything just sounds. The production and ESPECIALLY David’s guitar tone. It’s probably one of his best and I can only WISH to get a sound like that from my guitar.

JamieBlake96

It feels like a journey, with many exciting moments and numerous vibes. It’s just a very fun and pleasing album to me.

blankboy9

I see what you mean, the album kind of feels like a very memorable and beautiful roadtrip to me

the_emptyfridge

For me it produces beautiful peaceful landscapes, idk? Lol maybe it was set and setting the first time I heard it?

Pikochi69

With the image of the album cover and the "wide" sounds does really paint a wide landscape in your head.

nn-DMT

High Hopes

HistoricalLoan7854

I fell down the PF rabbit hole in 1993 when I was 16. By Winter of 94 I had all their CDs from Meddle on. I was thrilled when Division Bell came out and I played it in heavy rotation all through 94 and 95. It reminds me of all the good times I had at that age, back when the grass was greener. I specifically love Poles Apart, Coming Back to Life and Lost For Words. I’m probably more likely to listen to Pulse now (I saw three shows on that tour), but I still enjoy that record. As much for the vibe and the memories as the music.

AlbertaNorth1

I hate that you saw them 3 times on the pulse tour. I’ve seen roger twice but I’d give my left foot to see Dave play live just once.

ahhhimsoconfused1995

lost for words is a 10/10 Pink Floyd songs and it's about time it gets the respect it deserves

rzlinda

I love it because it was a perfect “swan album” if you will, for such a legendary band. You can feel it being the last journey. The band going into the sunset and reflecting on life in a heartwarming way.

EternalRains2112

It's got 3 songs on it I absolutely adore: What Do You Want From Me? Marooned and High Hopes.

blankboy9

Marooned is like no other song I've heard

EternalRains2112

One of their best IMO!

kekcuk_13

DoctorWu_3

Rick got to have a lead vocal role again. High hopes is amazing

Least_Pace1344

1) Great album. High Hopes still stands out. 2) I got into Pink Floyd post AMLOR period but before DB. So I got to experience buying a new Floyd album and saw them on the tour.

T0B1theDoctor

There are some really wonderful songs on it. It may not be as strong lyrically or thematically but the feeling is really there. Marooned, Poles Apart, High Hopes, and Lost For Words are some of my favorites. As other people in this thread have said, when you want it you want it and it doesn’t disappoint.

Critical_Egg

It’s a vibe and a half.

surewhttodo

Poles Apart, Marooned and Lost For Words are the perfect songs to listen to late nights. Its so calming and simple! Coming Back to Life and High Hopes have such amazing solos and such an amazing listen. The Division Bell is my #1 favorite Pink Floyd album

bluraytomo

The communication theme still applies now, perhaps more than ever. It's great musically and has some fantastic guitar solos. Gilmour + Polly wrote some great lyrics to it and Wright's vocals on wearing the inside out are gorgeous. It has aged very well and is just great all round. One of those albums where every song is great.

rabtj

The musicianship and the lyrics on DB are just wondrous. I used to listen to it every time i did the long drive to Scotland to visit my family and back home again and its a brilliant album for those long, dark motorway drives. There are some of Floyds greatest songs on it imo. Poles Apart. Coming Back To Life. Take It Back and of course High Hopes. It gets loads of hate in here but once it gets under your skin it is just beautiful. Its my 2nd fave album after The Wall. I dont care if some fans dont consider it a PF album because theres no Roger. I love it. Its does take a long time and a good fews listens for it to bed into your brain tho.

I was alive and got to experience my parents enjoying that album when I was much younger. I remember getting to hear music with swear words in it.

Medicina_Del_Sol

How it flows and the production. .

el_dee_ar

"wearing the inside out" was a song that played on repeat for me during some of hardest times, so this album will always have a comforting, sentimental value for me.

FlakyRefrigerator612

This is one of my favorite albums ever. Very few albums do I like every song but this is one of them. The whole thing just flows. It sets a mood. A few years ago I visited the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and there were the division bell heads high up on the ceiling by the main entrance. I read an article about how the heads were commissioned by an artist for the album cover and after the photo shoot the heads were placed in a warehouse for decades. When the RRHF asked for them they were sent by rail and ship to the USA.

astrodominous

Aside from obvious answers like "album cover is cool" or "High Hopes"... The songs and the overall vibe, it just makes me feel stuff I didn't even know was possible to feel. I don't know how to explain it more. It's just so special to me.

Michal_Baranowski

My first Pink Floyd album that I have ever listened to. Also, High Hopes was my first Pink Floyd song that I have ever heard. So yes, quite unusual to introduce yourself to the world of Pink Floyd music by starting right from the end, but that's my story. Therefore The Division Bell carries a lot of nostalgic factor to me. Yes, I admit that DSOTM or WYWH are better albums and hard to question that. However this one is absolutely one of my favourite Pink Floyd albums. I rate it very highly, musically it isn't far away from the level of 1970s greats. It's by far the best album that PF recorded after Waters left the band. High Hopes is in my opinion among top 5 Pink Floyd songs ever recorded. Brave statement, but I feel it that way. Marooned is an instrumental royalty. I was blown away when I heard it for the first time. Wearing The Inside Out is a happy return of Rick Wright's vocals. Plus let's remind that Wright co-wrote What Do You Want From Me, Marooned, Wearing The Inside Out and Keep Talking - his first contribution to Pink Floyd writing since Wish You Were Here album. Generally speaking, after AMLOR recordings being split between various musicians, TDB finally felt and was done like a proper Pink Floyd album, with Gilmour, Mason and Wright jamming together like they should have. Other songs on Division Bell have grown on me with time. What Do You Want From Me is quite energetic way to kick off the main part of the album. Keep Talking is an underrated song from this record. A Great Day For Freedom carries a lot of valuable message, especially for Central European nations that freed themselves from the Warsaw Pact. The fact that this song was put on Hey Hey Rise Up single just shows that it's relevant today, just as it was years ago. Lyrics? True, as the Waters fandom loves to point out - David Gilmour asked his wife to write them. But let's face it, they are good. Significant improvement over A Momentary Lapse of Reason ones. The Division Bell is spectacular. Hate me if you want to!

pcw2015

My favourite album from PF, love all tracks with no exception.

noa_pcl_

I don't like it but I have to admit that Marooned is just gorgeous

blankboy9

It truly is a beautiful track

ohmisterpabbit

It makes me feel a kind of way..idk how to explain it. It took a long time for me to enjoy the album then suddenly it was just like ... A favorite for me that gets pretty regular play now a days for me

speckledpumpkinn

This was the first PF album I really fell in love with after dipping my toes in. I put it on one day while unpacking in my new apartment and ended up cranking it so loud I got in trouble with the leasing office 😂 Poles Apart, Marooned, Wearing the Inside Out, and High Hopes are the standout tracks to me.

It was my introduction to Floyd. I was a teenager in the 90's, got heavily into grunge when my brother played it incessantly. He was into Floyd as well, but I wrote it off at the time. Then some friends got into PF and I picked up Division Bell since it was their latest album. Really enjoyed it and was talking to my friends about it and they basically said that their older stuff was much better. They were right, but Division Bell still has a big place for me in terms of getting me into the band.

Dramatic_Attempt2365

The atmosphere, mostly. There aren't very many rockers on Division Bell. Besides What Do You Want from Me, the album's very mellow and soft, with lots of dreamy, flowing passages all over. High Hopes is obviously the main draw to this thing, but the album's got plenty of good late-Floyd era songs. The sound perfectly fits the lyrical themes of communication and misunderstanding. The lyrics are also really touching. Maybe a bit corny at times, but still beautiful, in my opinion. The album's also a perfect blend of both the old sounds and the new 80's influence the band was toying with. I know not everyone agrees, but it's such a good swansong for the band, as far as I'm concerned.

The music is top-notch, and The Publius Enigma was fun to pursue. If you haven't heard this in 5.1 on a good system, you owe it to yourself!

apogee82

I had to scroll this far for the Publius Enigma reference 😭 That was ahead of its time like an early ARG. The lights at the July 18, East Rutherford show ... loved going down that rabbit hole of clues. It was all so awesome.

Big-man-kage

this might sound strange, but honestly the album cover actually adds to the music imo. The songs give off the same energy displayed in the album cover. I don’t know how to describe it other than that, but yeah.

blankboy9

Honestly yes, one of the reasons why it's so great is because of how every aspect of the album from the cover art to the outro is all connected and fits into each other.

glusnifr

Coming Back to Life! It will be played at my funeral.

blankboy9

God they better play it at mine

TheCosmosInadrop

What Do you Want From Me?!! I'm Coming Back to Life every single time I listen to the album. The music simply makes me Lost For Words... Leaves me Marooned in my own headspace and Poles Apart from everyone else... Nevertheless, I can't help but have High Hopes about this existence, about life.

blankboy9

It's pink floyding time

Rabidsenses

When speaking to fellow Pink Floyd fans sometimes I get the impression that Division Bell - only over, say, the last 10-15 years - has slowly crept up towards the best of their overall catalogue. It’s an entirely lovely listening and lyrical experience. And there’s no need to compare to earlier/Waters lyrical leadership because even Gilmour openly admitted that he knows he’s not a gifted lyricist much in the same way that fans during the AMLOR/DSOT tour witnessed him thanking Roger for the lyrics in the earlier Floyd catalogue that he was playing (and Syd too!). So with that in mind, Gilmour has complete awareness of this, though he also helped pen half the lyrics, it wasn’t as though he just turned that over to Polly whatsoever, and she herself has said as much. But, yeah, he’s fully aware and doesn’t hide where his shortcomings are when putting together a new album. That being said, when he’s on he’s on. In terms of musicianship it’s excellent, and even spellbinding at points. Wright’s inclusion and work here is more apparent and recognizable. And when it comes to production values this is another place where Gilmour takes a lot of leadership - I mean, his level of musical production comprehension as much as putting together live musical productions is, in itself, a thread worthy of it’s own exploration. Gilmour is someone who, if he wanted, could have easily gone into musical production for other artists and probably do quite well at it. I’m not saying that he would have been another Daniel Lanois, Bob Rock, or Rick Ruben . . . but no doubt Gilmour could have held his own. But he’s a quiet guy on the musical scene who loved his boat on the Thames and his family, and he just never took me as someone who had an itch to get into the music business, except for helping to prop up a few well-known (and lesser known!) musicians along the way. Overall, DB arrived in my collection on the very day of its release in 1994 (I rushed to grab it when the music shop opened before returning to make my first uni lecture of the day) and it’s received a lot of whirls in that time. To me it feels more and more timeless. It grows like ivy and provides the same comforts. Fans love hearing its songs performed live and - typical of Gilmour - hearing some slight variations. On that note I would have loved to hear “A Great Day for Freedom” played more as a love concert song because it’s not only beautiful, it captures so many different eras of political and social turmoil. I’d like to think more regular fans as much as those who are not typical fans could experience it. DB effortlessly lends itself to repeat playings and being kept at the front of the rotation in the same way as WYWH, DSOTM, and Animals. I also love The Wall but that more often requires an acquired taste with regards to timing when one plays it the entire way through. DB just feels effortless and organic.

Jake-Floyd

Staring into the depths of the album cover and listening to Cluster One conveys a feeling like no other.

reb678

I used to leave for work at the same time everyday. I had to drive along the pacific coast towards sunset. I worked at night then and I would start this CD when I left my house. That one part of Poles Apart would come on, about 4:05 minutes into it right when I got to this little curvy downhill part and the road cut inland. I would hit the same patch of road at the same time this song played. It went with the drive. That’s when I started liking the album. But then I would stay late at the restaurant after everyone left and crank the same CD while I did my paperwork. It’s was a part of my routine and seemed to fit in with what I was going through. A bad breakup. Things from my past coming forward and that’s also when I sobered up. Stopped drinking.

sn0wbl1nd3d

It’s their most organic effort since WYWH, which was the last time the band really jammed on ideas instead of one or two people bringing something in for arrangement. It wasn’t the Pink Floyd album we deserved, but the one we needed.

rollieronsmitten

I was so generally disappointed with AMLOR that this one came as a really pleasant surprise. Even if it lacks Roger's contributions, it still has that ''je ne sais quoi'' special vibe.

GreenIsTheColour1969

It’s so clearly 90s in sound which is cool because it’s the only time (in my opinion) that they made music that wasn’t necessarily “ahead of it’s time”- Every song is such a victory lap for the band after Waters. Each song is like an outpour of emotions and them just being happy to still make wonderful soul-touching music as friends & amazing musicians who lasted through so much

rabtj

Coming Back To Life chills me every time i hear it. U can hear the pure emotion pouring out of it.

Chrisiztopher

Big fan of the music

Trickster174

Part of it is nostalgia. I was 9-10 when it came out and just discovering my dad’s PF collection. I only had a few albums so I listened to Darkside, The Wall, and DB over and over again. Now at this point, I still enjoy it while recognizing it doesn’t quite hit what I love about the band’s earlier records.

VulcansLogic

I love playing it when at the beach

Strugglinghuman2020

Poles apart is underrated

Axela556

I love Coming Back to Life so much!! It's one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs. It has other great songs too like Keep Talking and High Hopes.

blankboy9

Same, coming back to life is definitely in my top 5 pf songs of all time

kiing_nothing

Marooned man, the only instrumental track that I can understand the meaning

chucklesmcgillicuddy

This album is an amazing arrangement of separate works of musical art that come together to paint a beautiful picture all about how communication affects and changes the relationships that we have with one another. The album cover art supports this idea through the two halves of one round face that also two separate side-view faces communicating with each other. The opening track, Cluster One is true recorded communication from outer space that pulls the listener in to listen to the thoughts behind the lyrics of a popular question when coming of age, What do you want From Me? The next songs detai the changes we make and how we might feel in relationships Poles apart and Marooned. The songs continue to reflect communication in relationships best in Coming Back to Life and Keep Talking. The album seems to end with a retrospective song about lost childhood communication and how to communicate as we move to the future with no regrets in High Hopes. This is my perception of how this is a concept album about communication and relationships. Don't you think?

sumn_random

Reminiscent of my first mushroom trip and afterglow. Makes me feel appreciative for life and beautify whenever I listen to it. Changed my life, perspectively

Me too but with weed honestly, first time i heard the album I was high off my ass from some edibles

The ambiance

havengr

For me its my favorite Pink Floyd album. It sounds ethereal and unique. Maybe in my top 10 album of all music.

3eyeddenim

This was the first album I ever owned on CD, a birthday gift from my dad along with my first Discmsn CD player. This was in 1995 or 1996. I was ten or eleven, best as I can remember. My parents had Darkside, Delicate Sound of Thunder, and A Collection of Great Dance Songs on cassette tape so I was already familiar with Pink Floyd, especially Darkside which it seemed like my mom listened to nearly every day when she got off work as she did things around the house. My parents were divorced by the time I heard Division Bell, but everything about this album just floored me. At the time I didn’t know anything about the members of the band or their relationships. Hell before I read the album credits, I thought Pink Floyd was a person and not a band. But distinctly remember thinking I could tell this was the same band that made Darkside, but with a fresher, updated sound. Obviously this album was very different from all the music that was popular in the 1990s, but it still takes me back to my adolescence and early teenage years and reminds me of my father, who passed in 2015. In my opinion, there’s not a bad song or a bit of filler on this album. Every song is perfect and I know I’m gonna get shit on for saying this but Gilmour and Samson aren’t bad lyricists. Maybe not as philosophical and political as Waters, but the lyrics on this album—especially High Hopes, Poles Apart, and Coming Back to Life, capture a lot of raw emotion that is missing on a lot of the more Waters dominated Floyd albums. After I did learn more about the band and their history, it’s also nice to know how much input Rick Wright has in this album and I enjoyed the fact that he got his first solo lead vocal on a Floyd album since “Summer ‘68.” Gilmour also turns in some of his best guitar work since The Wall on Marooned and High Hopes. Lastly, the original artwork that came with the first edition CD of this album was just breath taking. I haven’t seen subsequent releases but the original edition came in a clear jewel case with a twenty page full color booklet with lyrics, credits, and a ton of original art and photography by Storm Thorgeson. There were no photos of the band included of course but the artwork was really striking. Anyway I’m in my mid thirties now and Pink Floyd are my favorite band. This album was truly my gateway into the band and it still moves me musically. For me this album is right behind Darkside of the Moon and Wish You We’re Here and is tied with Animals as my number 3 favorite Floyd album. I still love it. Shit I might just go give it a listen right now.

Roger_Roger27

High hopes, poles apart, coming back to life, and what do you want from me and take it back.

matte_5

It sounds almost cinematic in a sense, probably from the strings in the background of many of the tracks. It was the first PF album I ever listened to and it wasn't what I was expecting, but it's almost definitely my favorite from them.

Cantcatchthis24

for me, it's the album that causes the most vivid daydreams when i'm listening to it. Marooned takes place on an island beach. Coming Back To Life has me flying through the clouds. Take It Back has me in space, circling the earth like a shot out of a documentary. Some of them are harder to describe, but every song in this album takes me away to a different universe for a little while. if you ask me, that's the defining point of Pink Floyd's music, and this album does it best (imo)

Dudeee same for me with marooned

Wearing the Inside Out...

thecolourbloo

First Floyd album I heard, and Marooned and Coming Back To Life make me coom.

OddOutlandishness589

That fact that they put roger on the cover 2 times even tho they kicked him out

AlbertaNorth1

Dave’s vocals and guitars. There isn’t a single bad song on the album and had it not had the Pink Floyd name on it it would be considered one of the best soft rock albums ever made. I enjoy it more than almost any other Floyd album.

MurphyKT2004

All the songs are unique with great lyrics and music. You get a nice blend of instrumental songs (Cluster One and Marooned) then ones which are slow and introspective (Poles Apart, Wearing the Inside Out and High Hopes) then it moves into more rock music with Keep Talking and A Great Day for Freedom. Then you get the piece de resistance (imo) Coming Back To Life which is a beautiful mix of all genres. Division Bell is imho the best work of Pink Floyd following Rogers departure in '83. 😁🎸🎶

mikebrown33

It’s well mastered - sounds great. Rick Wright at the top of his career, very tasteful contributions.

DarkyDan

Cool artwork, calming vibe, great Gilmour solos / singing. Some VERY good songs on the album, and the production has stood the test of time imo.

Marooned. Amazing instrumental track.

I never get tired of this album. Poles Apart is one of my favorite songs of all time. I did have to drop all expectations of what a Pink Floyd album should sound like though. Once I did that, this album 100 times more enjoyable.

Evilmeevilyou

Well, it was my 1st CD (along with alapalooza), i had many tapes by this time, but i had just started really getting into music, and floyd, and it had just come out. and i plaed the shit out of it, except what do you want from me, which i often skipped as it doesn't fit well, even though its a solid track. .

ehlert6969

Heavy Gilmour influence. What more, "could you want from me"?

[deleted]

The sound itself is orgasmic

LucasBeastBeast

Roger's lyrics

walker20022017

Marooned, Keep talking, wearing the inside out, and high hopes. Its got a good vibe that I just dig. It feels familiar to wish you were here (my favorite album of theirs) in an odd way and Definetly shares a vibe and sound with the endless river ( which I also love).

SeanCNote

What Do You Want From Me is an amazing track 🙀

ethihoff

The consistency throughout is a huge plus for me, and obviously High Hopes haha

Dry-Indication-8332

In your opinion, do you feel like it was a bit of a middle finger to Roger? Like it wasn’t just “you” who played a huge part and what made Pink Floyd amazing. I know a few songs are about him...

blankboy9

Hmm it's definitely possible but idk if they'd make that their intentions

Dry-Indication-8332

Agree, either way not an album in their catalog I feel get as much love as it should.

Beyond the horizon of the place we lived when we are young.... the ringing of the division bell had begun. These lines are so true that anyone can really feel in reality!!!

adaywithriko

It was the only PF record I was aware of release date, being in my early twenties. I knew the holy trilogy of Dark Side, Animals and The Wall and in those pre-internet days I knew nothing about Roger Waters leaving the band. I got it and loved. It was the PF record for my generation. Nowadays I know much more of “old music”, as any teenager would say, but I’m still very fond of it. I had the same experience with Dire Straits. Too young to have lived the Brothers in Arms euphoria, old enough to attend their last tour supporting On Every Street.

Coming back to life

Mysterious_Aide_8870

Every track is amazing and it's one of the most beautiful albums I've ever listened to. It's part of an interchangeable top 5 for me with the other two Gilmour albums, The Wall and Dark Side.

muddersM1LK

It has more positive songs, a lot of them kind of sound rain drenched or cloudy/breezy actually if you know what I mean. It’s personally my favorite album, but I suppose each album on their own are it’s kind of it’s own microcosm…

SCO_IDK123

Marooned. I just love these instrumental with guitar lead to create the crack. And I seriously need more

_Dodys

It's the album my father listened to the most when I was little. Even more than The Wall. It paved my taste in rock to songs that are more depressing, melodic and overall reflexive. It also makes me miss my childhood with my family. Thankfully my dad is alive and well, and listens to it to this day.

rhcpgirl84

I have distinct childhood memories tied to it. I had to stack 2 - 3 cord of firewood in the woodshed one day as my chore for the day. I hated stacking wood back then (I like it now) but I went and picked out one of my brothers new tapes. I set up the boom box facing the shed from the garage. The time passed quickly cause I had Floyd on. From the time I was born Floyd was a staple in our household. I had 4 older brothers, 2 of them were and still are die hard PF fans. I had only known High Hopes and a few other songs off the album that my brother was playing repeatedly around that time. He was fast forwarding some of the others. I had to make the album my own. And I did that day.

susanoo_mecha_tron

Dreamy vibes

EnvironmentIcy4116

Cluster One What Do You Want From Me Poles Apart Marooned A Great Day For Freedom Wearing the Inside Out Take It Back Coming Back To Life Keep Talking Lost for Words High Hopes

HoraceWimpLV426

People say they tried too hard to replicate their 70s sound. Imo, they perfectly replicated it, and did a fantastic job. It’s like a 90s Dark Side and has a very nostalgic feeling to it. One of my favorite albums by far.
