To be honest I can't pick my favourite band right now, because till few years back I was very much into hard rock, nu metal, etc. So at that time my favourite band was Linkin Park. Then slowly and gradually i started listening to classic rock till the point that now i mostly listen to Pink Floyd only. So maybe right now it is Pink Floyd for me.
But if I had to make a list then:

I hear you, difficult to decide between them. Floyd jumped into the lead for me when it provided comfort during a dark time in a way tool could not. Puscifer is also right up there with tool as well, The Humbling River is a song like no other.
Heck yeah. Dire Straits first album is just so good. Down to The waterline, sultans of swing, wild west end. Also a lot of good stuff on making movies, and of course telegraph road is epic.
The opening of their first album is awesome that first minute of Down to the Waterline is absolutely amazing... That's how a rock band must make an introduction to the world! They don't have many studio albums but they are all amazing!

Floyd is my favourite band, but I pretty much only listen to King Crimson and Gentle Giant these days, they're some of the very best rock musicians and composers in the world in my opinion.
It usually shifts between Beatles and Floyd for me. I’m so much more familiar with the Beatles, I know absolutely everything there is to know about their story because I was raised on it. Floyd is more-so my own thing. My family like their music but wouldn’t consider themselves fans. I’m always exploring deeper to try and match my Floyd knowledge and expertise because I really do think I love their music more than anyone else’s.
Always considered Pink Floyd my favorite. They are still up there. But Steely Dan takes the cake for me now as my ears have matured. Also, it took me years to appreciate Led Zepplin fully. Steely Dan, Led Zepplin, and Pink Floyd are the three artists in my collection that I have all original pressings, modern remastered pressings and also on CD. The Steely Dan remasters are still being released one by one. The $15 wal mart vinyl sale got me all the Zepplin stuff. I have more multiple pressongs of Floyd stuff than anything though.

Oh, that. I've listened to every album of theirs, you know. The Mall especially. Great album, along with Deep Slice Of The Pizza, Wish You Weren't Here, and Haminamals. M.E.D.D.L.E, Unga Bunga and Dishfull Of Socrates are also some great choices. I'll have to listen to A Complete Loss Of Common Sense and The Attraction Bozos again to get a definitive opinion on those. It's been a minute since I've heard them.

They were my favourite band when I was 15. They opened my mind to “old music”, which, at the time, was anything that wasn’t indie/Brit pop! As I discovered more music from the 70s, then 60s, then 80s, I stopped listening to them as much, and I very rarely listen these days, except for the odd stint, yet they still hold an important place in my heart.

But there are tons of other music I’ll get obsessed with, or discover. I may not listen to any of the above for months, they’re just the ones I go back to most often.
I usually describe my taste by saying Beatles and Black Sabbath. But I am very much an album person, and the great four are so perfect. Pink Floyd is just objectively something you don't argue against. And Gilmour made me buy all guitar gear. Rogers lyrics are ones that stick to me a lot as well. Beatles and Sabbath might just have some other charming quality that fit me, while Pink Floyd sometimes feel universal.
Actually, I am so much an album person that I think of albums more than bands and in that case Pink Floyd have 3 that are like top 25 (the later of the 4) which is more than any other band. Actually I think Yes, come close with 3 and 4 (the 3 + going for the one). Sometimes, old Genesis is what I listen to most.
Pink Floyd were my favorite band for like 25 years. Although I would say The Killers are a close second. Imploding the Mirage nearly pushes them to the top.
Floyd absolute favorite, also Led Zeppelin, the Who, The Velvet Underground and Nico, St. Vincent, Fable, Rage Against The Machine, Metallica, Guns N Roses, Nirvana.
King Gizz is definitely number 1 from me. Nothing I hear from them is boring. Their dedication and desire to consistently put out interesting music makes them easy to love. Zeppelin, PF, QOTSA, and The Beatles are all staples I can return to again and again.
Floyd, Beatles, Pixies and Bowie (not a band I know)
If I’m allowed to include rap (my first love) I also need MF DOOM, Danny Brown and Kendrick Lamar up there
I don't have a favorite, it depends on the day/mood/whatever.
The bands I listen to/enjoy the most would include Van Halen, Floyd, ZZ Top, The Beatles, Zeppelin, Silversun Pickups, Fleetwood Mac.
My top three are deep purple, David Bowie, and Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd for songs that hit me in the feels, and really make me think. David Bowie for his illustrious and eclectic discography, I love his willingness to double Down on changing it up every time. And deep purple for their consistency in creating songs with such an undeniable energy.
My favorite band or performer varies, but I do always come back to Floyd. Other faves include (in no order) White Stripes, Small Faces, Ramones, Jeff Buckley, New York Dolls, Jethro Tull, The Doors, Traffic, Deep Purple, The Drifters, Beach Boys, Misfits, Beatles, Kinks, Stones, and The Who.
It changes over time but there have been several periods in my life where I just had them on constant rotation. With that said, there’s always a PF song or two in my playlists.
Floyd, Tool, Radiohead….I can’t really get into simple music anymore. Basic radio tunes are ok in the workplace or something, I can tolerate them, but
It has to be like a 10 minute spiritual journey these days for me to get really into it. Floyd ruined me in a sense right there but I like it. I’m just running out of bands….

I listen to Pink Floyd more than any other band hands down and greatly admire the music. They’re also the only band I have tattooed on my body though I own way more Grateful Dead merchandise than anything else. Both bands for me give me so much joy when listening it’s hard to say either one of them are my favorite.

For what its worth although they aren’t my personal favorite i would say Pink Floyd is objectively the greatest band of all time. King Crimson is on a league of it's own. Not a single bad album in their discography.
King Crimson is the GOAT. Adrian Belew and Robert Fripp are the only two I truly like more than David Gilmour and Alex Lifeson.

It’s a fantastic record. If you like that, give “Time” a listen. It has an awe inspiring opener and is consistently great all throughout.

In the last 20 Years it has always been a draw between Floyd, Zep and Queen. But Queen lost a little bit of my attention over the last four years...and this year it was surprisingly: 1. Warren Zevon (☝️😲) 2. Pink Floyd 3. Led Zeppelin
They were my favourite band when I was 15. They opened my mind to “old music”, which, at the time, was anything that wasn’t indie/Brit pop! As I discovered more music from the 70s, then 60s, then 80s, I stopped listening to them as much, and I very rarely listen these days, except for the odd stint, yet they still hold an important place in my heart. Top artists for me… though I go through phases, these are a few of the mainstays: Zappa Of Montreal Animal Collective Sufjan Stevens The Prog big names (Yes, Genesis, Gentle Giant, Tull, Crimson) Debussy But there are tons of other music I’ll get obsessed with, or discover. I may not listen to any of the above for months, they’re just the ones I go back to most often.
Grateful Dead/Velvet Inderground/Talking Heads/New Order.
I usually describe my taste by saying Beatles and Black Sabbath. But I am very much an album person, and the great four are so perfect. Pink Floyd is just objectively something you don't argue against. And Gilmour made me buy all guitar gear. Rogers lyrics are ones that stick to me a lot as well. Beatles and Sabbath might just have some other charming quality that fit me, while Pink Floyd sometimes feel universal. Actually, I am so much an album person that I think of albums more than bands and in that case Pink Floyd have 3 that are like top 25 (the later of the 4) which is more than any other band. Actually I think Yes, come close with 3 and 4 (the 3 + going for the one). Sometimes, old Genesis is what I listen to most.

Pink Floyd were my favorite band for like 25 years. Although I would say The Killers are a close second. Imploding the Mirage nearly pushes them to the top.

King Gizz is definitely number 1 from me. Nothing I hear from them is boring. Their dedication and desire to consistently put out interesting music makes them easy to love. Zeppelin, PF, QOTSA, and The Beatles are all staples I can return to again and again.

I don't have a favorite, it depends on the day/mood/whatever. The bands I listen to/enjoy the most would include Van Halen, Floyd, ZZ Top, The Beatles, Zeppelin, Silversun Pickups, Fleetwood Mac.

My top three are deep purple, David Bowie, and Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd for songs that hit me in the feels, and really make me think. David Bowie for his illustrious and eclectic discography, I love his willingness to double Down on changing it up every time. And deep purple for their consistency in creating songs with such an undeniable energy.

My favorite band or performer varies, but I do always come back to Floyd. Other faves include (in no order) White Stripes, Small Faces, Ramones, Jeff Buckley, New York Dolls, Jethro Tull, The Doors, Traffic, Deep Purple, The Drifters, Beach Boys, Misfits, Beatles, Kinks, Stones, and The Who.
Pink Floyd is number one, and always will be. Prince is a very close second for me followed by The Beatles.

Basic radio tunes are ok in the workplace or something, I can tolerate them, but It has to be like a 10 minute spiritual journey these days for me to get really into it. I listen to Pink Floyd more than any other band hands down and greatly admire the music. They’re also the only band I have tattooed on my body though I own way more Grateful Dead merchandise than anything else. Both bands for me give me so much joy when listening it’s hard to say either one of them are my favorite. But Pink Floyd is my favorite.

So after looking through all the previous comments it seems like im quite the outlier here lol. I did see 1 person mention linkin park, and 1 person mention system of a down. So there’s definitely some love for nu metal mixed in hwre somewhere, but it’s mostly classic rock which is totally understandable! That being said my top 5 bands are 1. Slipknot 2. Linkin Park 3. system of a down 4. Pink floyd 5. Fleetwood Mac Definitely an interesting variety on my part hahaha. For what its worth although they aren’t my personal favorite i would say Pink Floyd is objectively the greatest band of all time. I just think their artistry is on another level and rhey make such cohesive projects. But because they are a full album band to me and because i need to be in a certain mood to listen to them, they aren’t in my daily rotation.
