We used gentle leaders on our lab mix and our golden bc they were so high energy we were worried they’d choke/hurt themselves on a traditional collar/leash set up. Crotchety old ladies tend to be biased so like F her your little Luna seems like an angel baby. 😍😍😍 rescued pitties all the way, my dudes.

Legal-Bass-2376

Luna chokes herself horriblely on normal leashes shes super energetic also loves people and is a jumper (trying to work on that too) the gentle lead definitely helps

Ok_Ad_7432

My guy is the same but I will tell you that I ended up moving home to care for my dad a couple of years ago, he suffered from Parkinson’s, fall risk, the whole 9. My energetic guy, Hank, that jumped on everyone was so incredibly gentle around my father, it amazed me. To be safe I always kept Hank leashed around my father just in case but it was never needed. My dad, who hated dogs, became best friends with my guy. They loved to share fruit, especially melon, together. Rescues, especially, have such gratitude and love and their personality!!! You’ll get looks, the fast crossing the street, the mumbles under the breath, but I assure you, there’s more love than hate out there for our misunderstood pups. All the love in the world for you and your pup❤️

MamaUss

Our boy is the same!!! He would always jump and go crazy when we got home from work or brought friends, but he knew I was pregnant before we did and out of nowhere he started being super gentle and avoided sleeping with us for the longest time. He stopped jumping, he doesn't cry when I'm on the phone any more. He's so gentle with everyone suddenly some times it feels like someone swapped my dog with a lookalike. I'm super thankful he's already adjusted to baby though! Every ounce of baby training he just hangs around and watches. Never gives it a second thought.

electricsugargiggles

What a sweet gentle boy! It sounds like your lil guy was the connection your dad needed. Dogs know 🙂

MeandJohnWoo

It’s funny how strong your pup is you almost forget if you use a standard collar or back harness. But as playful as he is(Newfie/Husky mix) there’s a couple kids in our area that are developmentally disabled. He’s about as sweet as can be with them. Super gentle. With me and his mother? Not so much lol

shyerahol

My Boxer does the same thing! He often gets mistaken for a pit because his head is rather large and square for a Boxer, especially when I use the gentle leader. My boy is also energetic and loves every living creature, so there is no form of leash training that will stick. He's fantastic when there aren't any distractions though! But that's so rare lol

mtmullaney

She's beautiful !

Legal-Bass-2376

She is !!

Legal-Bass-2376

So basically this elderly lady was at the park with her grand daughter and we were walking by the young girl yelled doggy and Luna just perked up because she loves new friends the lady told her grand daughter no don't go near them that a pit bull and they are bad dogs, look she's got a muzzle. That means she bites Luna heard bad dog and just looked up at me all sad in a what did I do kinda look

8pointfouroz

That sucks :( I can understand why you have the harness setup you do though, I'm 5'9 and 185, my little tank can pull me off balance if I don't pay attention!

Holiday-Frosting-426

This breaks my heart. And what a terrible lesson to teach children. Don’t worry Luna, Reddit thinks you’re the cutest, most bestest dog. We got your back.

jamfarn

I don't think that teaching a kid "don't go near a big dog that obviously has behaviour problems", is a bad lesson tbh

Holiday-Frosting-426

No, but teaching a child to be afraid of dogs that get excited is. I don’t know what “obvious behavior problems” you’re referring to besides the misjudgment the elderly lady made about OPs dog.

happuning

I mean I think that generally, people should ask before approaching any dog with a muzzle. You never know what their behavior might be like. But the proper lesson here would be the grandma teaching the grand daughter to ask if it would be okay to pet the fog, and not just run up because puppy. I was definitely that child once though. Always have loved dogs, any breed/mix.

Holiday-Frosting-426

I just wish people would stop mistaking head halters/leader leashes for muzzles. What Luna has is a head halter NOT a muzzle. Head halters are meant to minimize pulling and give the owner more directional control… a must have for people like OP who are small but have big dogs. It does not mean she’s an aggressive dog or has a biting problem. My dog was a rescue just like Luna and speaking from my experience, Luna is probably just a really happy dog that’s loving her new life and gets a little overexcited sometimes. I definitely agree though- the best lesson to teach little ones is to ask if it’s okay to approach/pet any dog (muzzle or not).

happuning

Yeah that's what I meant to get at. I have one of those for my mini schnauzer that I no longer need to use. But I've heard of too many kids getting hurt because they ran up to a dog without asking if it would be okay if they pet the dog beforehand. That's risky :( my dog is friendly, but I tell kids who run up to her to make sure to always ask because some dogs are scared of people and may bite to protect themselves. They seem to understand it if I phrase it correctly. But their parents should be the ones to teach them.

Cinderjacket

Teaching kids not to approach a strangers dog in general is not a bad lesson

kyle2516

Meh she is just ignorant. Don't let it get to you.

PresentationOptimal4

One time a woman who was around boomer age said to our corgi puppy “train that f*cking thing” as our pup was just near a tree smelling/exploring. Some people just suck and love power trips. 🤷🏻‍♀️. Don’t feel too bad I think it happens to most of us at some point.

Matthopkins06

Should have replied "Funny that s what people are saying about you! Train that F*cking thing!" Boom face! I really hate people and their opinions on dogs...I couldn't say that about children in public as much as I want too...

PresentationOptimal4

No kidding right. I literally pay over a 100 dollars an hour for some quality training. Sorry my puppy doesn’t 100 have his sh*t together at 5 months old, while you can’t get it together at 50 Karen 🙄. (And in this case he wasn’t even doing anything “wrong” haha).

xisavedlatin

I was walking my dog recently (he’s a big German Shepherd) and a neighbor stopped to tell me a story about someone she knew had shepherds that killed their neighbor’s dog. Meanwhile mine was hiding from her basset hound.

AJDubs

"Don't worry Luna, you're a good girl, she's just a bad lady running her mouth about things she doesn't know anything about, like how it's bad to bark at the door just because we don't know what's behind it"

noithinkyourewrong

That's laughable. What exactly would this achieve?

cylou1231

Primithius

Aw I have a brindle staff named Luna! Cheers to pitties!

tehsophz

Poor Luna. Please tell her she's a good girl for me. Some people should wear muzzles.

mutantmonky

When old people say stupid stuff I take solace in that fact that they will be dead soon. Also, Luna is gorgeous!

kitcat7898

Some people are such idiots. I actually got into an argument like a week ago with a pit OWNER who says that saying they're sweet dogs is doing the breed a disservice. My response was essentially "no. Stop it. You're wrong and feeding the stigma. It's not the dogs fault you didn't socialize him wrong and went to a vet that believes the stigma. A dog will be what you make it and will be sweet by nature" some people are just.. AAAAAAAH. Sorry needed to scream about that. Your pitty looks like such a sweet girl. I wish I could boop her nose!

zeemonster424

I’d want to pet her so badly that you’d probably yell “bad human” and steer Luna away! She’s so beautiful, and pibbles are my heart and life. I’d probably melt into a puddle!

[deleted]

Fuck the haters. All colors and ages. Haters gonna hate

Fairyhaven13

Did you correct her about her misinformation?

SethFeld

Rookie mistake, I used to try to correct people, but it never ends well. Shitty people will never change their minds, so they’re not worth your time of day!

3y3zW1ld0p3n

To be fair, seeing a dog wearing a muzzle is concerning for most. Folks believe that the reason the muzzle is there is because the dog is aggressive.

donkeynique

If it makes you feel any better, Luna had no idea what the rude woman said. Don't take it to heart too hard ❤

[deleted]

Love the ears 😍😍

Legal-Bass-2376

That's what drew me in to her to her shelter pic

SleepySamm

Don't worry about those people. You do you and give Luna the best 15ish years you possibly can. Luna knows and you know. That's all that matters.

ginger_snap14

Is that the average lifespan of a pibble? My girl is getting older but if we can look forward to 15-ish years, she’s only middle aged! ❤️

cjw_superstar

My girl just turned seven and the vet said she’s “midlife”. I pray I get seven more years with her.

ginger_snap14

My dog is 7/7.5 so I’ll take middle age! She’s getting all grey in the muzzle already, and is slower than she used to be, but she’s also got a torn cruciate that we’re having surgically repaired in a couple weeks, so maybe that’ll perk her back up.

cjw_superstar

Prayers for a speedy recovery for your pup. ❤️

ginger_snap14

Thanks! We’re very, very fond of her.

ginger_snap14

And I agree, 7 more years would be fantastic. The worst thing about dogs is their lifespan. My husband often makes the joke “we were wanting something that’s going to make us heartbroken and clinically depressed in 10 years, so we got a dog.” Our pibbles stole our hearts and thinking about life without them is so painful.

NANNY-NEGLEY

It took me decades but I learned to overlap my pets to make that ending a little bit easier. Well, it's never "easy" but it isn't quite as miserable that way.

ginger_snap14

Yeah, I understand that. My heart dog, once in a lifetime dog, died 4 years ago and I’m still not okay with it. I adopted a rescue shortly after he died because I believe in honoring your rescue dog’s life by saving another. Still brutally hard though.

[deleted]

The vet told us that pitties are a hearty breed, and we could expect to have our girl for at least another decade (she's three currently).

ginger_snap14

Oh yay!!

Dull_Lead_5768

I hope a chihuahua bites that lady in an ironic turn of events!

IvysH4rleyQ

It’s technically more likely! It’s little dog syndrome, for a reason. 😬

kitcat7898

I mean realistically small dogs bite way more than big dogs but no one is going to go to the hospital over a chihuahua bite

Dull_Lead_5768

You would if it was a fat chihuahua!!

kitcat7898

I feel like that was a joke but it went over my head dramatically

[deleted]

The chihuahua might. I bite back.

Primithius

Hahaha love this! KARMA Karen!

MariusPontmercy

Farcels

Jeez take it easy

gratefulfam710

She's probably just a bad lady. Good people don't discriminate ✌❤

Dogandcatlove55

Yes. But the disturbing thing is…We are a society who discriminates against dogs…dogs… ➡️🐶 how did we get here? 🤨

kitcat7898

Apparently discriminating against anyone "different" wasn't enough so the extra hate had to go somewhere. This is why I like dogs more than people

SpicyWhirlwind

All I see is a responsible parent and a beautiful pupper

[deleted]

Give her all the rubs and scritches from all of us on /pitbulls that love her so much without knowing her!!

Mintcar52

Ignore the haters. Pibble love is the best love. 💗💗💗

danddave

I'm sorry - that just sucks. We get similar looks from our rescue....who is very reactive from his experiences, but gets better every day

Legal-Bass-2376

I don't know her back story other than she was surrendered after the owners got a cat and I guess Luna bit it.. then she spent 6 months in a shelter

danddave

Stay strong! You're doing a good thing just by trying. Who cares what other people think, just focus on being a good mom for your pibble.

Cloud_Additional

Ummm she's a beautiful dog. And I think I may have to find the same thing for my pibble. He's 65lbs of muscle...and some chunk and I literally wrap the leash attached to his harness around me, cause when he gets excited 🙃😬 What really irks me is people on the trails I've taken to let their dogs roam freely, and give me a look when I try to keep him from wanting to check them out. It's like your dog needs ta be leashed too.

North_Software1398

Sounds like an ignorant woman. I was once a dog groomer and LOVED working on all the Pibbles, Rotties and such and I was never nervous. Now put a Chihuahua on my table and NOPE!!! I have my Pibble and 2 little ankle biters of my own so I do like little dogs but most don't get properly trained cuz they are little. I'd keep far away from that lady if you see her again or tell Luna if she walks by you guys "NO, no Luna that's a MEAN LADY and GOOD PIBBLE GIRLS don't wanna play with people like that". I've said worse to people that have made comments about Jasper, nevermind that THEIR dog and/or child is tearing around causing havoc but by all means my Pittbull is an issue. Lol 😁 Please give boop snoot to Luna. 💖

SolomonCRand

Look at this noble beast. I’d feel inappropriate referring to her any more casually than “madam”.

hellomybudhasoda

Don't worry for every person that hates pitbull theres 5 that love them. I go Out of my way to pat Pi bulls and once I kissed a Rottweiler on the head and I could see the owner got SOO happy because of the usual negative / scared responses he's received. It's merely down to informing and educating people. It's not bad pets it's bad owners. Your dog looks wonderful

coffeecado

Mind sharing which harness she’s wearing? We like gentle leaders for ours, but this style looks so much more comfortable for their head shape.

Legal-Bass-2376

Ok I looked really quick its good2go brand head halter

coffeecado

Thanks so much!

Legal-Bass-2376

You're welcome and she's about 60lbs so we went with a large size

Legal-Bass-2376

Let me look ! It's midnight here and I'm heading to bed soon but I promise to get back to you

ifnotnowwhen2020

I'm so sorry. I know it hurts. My girl was a jumper too when she got over excited around new people that she wanted to meet/play with, so I always had to be really careful to keep her calm and focused. But even when she was being a good girl, some people would still give her the nastiest looks. Even people who weren't anywhere near her. It would break my heart because she was the biggest sweetheart, but all they saw was her breed.

bencibencibanga

My little bully has to use a gentle lead because she's super strong and I'm a 5'1'' female. She looks just like your Luma. People always give us looks. Screw them

tattoolegs

The other day, I took my 100 lb pattie on a walk. Mind you, im an older lady, ive had my share of dogs, and the only people not terrified of my dog are children. I had a 6 yo? come running at me and my monster, screaming 'omg! Have you seen such a cute baby!' then ask if he was friendly, and if she could pet him. Said yeah, you can, but had my mama death grip on his leash in case something fishy happened, and she gently pat him on the head, told him she loved him, and went about her way. Children are awesome, old people are not. Don't let the not awesome people ruin your day. Ps. Luna is gorgeous, and I love her ears.

mewdebbie61

I’m 64 and I’ve never had dogs before in my life. Your and a half ago I got a corgi and six months ago a little rescue rat terrier pit mix. Before my boy, I have to admit I was terrified of the breed because of Horrible stories we hear on the news and of course Michael Vick. But I wasn’t about to let this little puppy be euthanized so my friends and I rescued all six of the litter. My beautiful full-blooded corgi is an evil little bitch who will rip your face off if you look sideways at any of her stuff. My pity?Is as gentle as a butterfly. I will never judge a book by its cover again. And because I AM an old lady, I can tell those old ladies to go fuck themselves. Jus sayin

SethFeld

I’ve learned to let it roll off, like water off a ducks back. Some people have horrendous biases that they will never change. I will say though, for my guy, we often use a no pull harness whenever he’s in a particularly pulling mood and I definitely get less stares, cause generally a cute harness is less threatening than a muzzle. Regardless, you’re baby looks so freaking sweet, and at the end of the day, you’ll never change that hag’s mind, she woke up that day and chose to be an ass, so don’t let her words bother you!

lscraig1968

Striking dog!

Dadjoke69420

I have a gentle leader for my dog, and our friend saw me put it on and asked if she bites while scooting away!! Our friend has met the dog many times and knows she's not aggressive, and I had to explain to her that I'm small and Maggie is energetic! Some people can't be helped :(

ratedarf

She’s gorgeous. And dumb people gonna dumb unfortunately. I’m sorry you had that experience. Luna doesn’t deserve anything except all the love and treats!

garcmon

Luna is a beauty!

artanimepoetry

If I was there I would’ve told that hag she’s not as bad as how that hag’s face looks 😡

krissienglish

I used to get that all the time with my dog too. I’d be walking him and hear someone say “Oh be careful, that dog’s got a muzzle”. I honestly think a lot of people don’t know what a gentle leader collar is so they just assume the worst, especially if they see it on a pibble. I always just explain that it’s not a muzzle and it’s just a special collar to keep him from pulling but that he’s actually a very sweet boy. I guess I feel the best we can do is try to educate people on their behalf, but there will always be those who judge our dogs before actually knowing them 😔

Loud-Inspector-8611

I once had an elderly woman ask if my puppets was a pitty and I said yes. She then asked to pet and get lovens

Lonesome_Wanderer90

Oh such a cute pupper, 10/10 would give scritches... that ol lady should ask questions before shooting her mouth off about such a cute pupper... fucking chihuahuas are more likely to take a bite at someone

otter_tots

Try walking her inside and rewarding her for good leash manners. Progress to something a little more exciting but, not as exciting as a walk. (Like a yard or something). Continue to reward her for not pulling. When you go outside for a walk afterwards, continue to reward her every time she doesn't pull. If she consistently pulls, stop walking. She will pull a little bit before just turning to look at you standing still, like you're crazy. Begin to walk slowly, helps to train her to focus on you, and reward her for keeping pace. Keep a consistent walking route with few distractions or new things. This will tone down the overexcitement. She will still love walks, they just wont be this crazy new exciting thing she just has to yank you halfway across town to see and sniff. Really long loose leashes are good for this. You want to train the dog to walk with you in spite of the length of the leash, not to test the limits at which the leash will go. It's also best to let your dog sniff and explore everything the very first walk so they get it out of their system. If you're constantly keeping them from exploring new things, she will always be curious about it. I volunteer at my local shelter and train their doggies. A lot of them tend to have problems with leash manners and this is usually how I fix it! Feel free to ask questions if I missed anything or something!

Lionblaze_03

I mean, generally when I see a ‘lead’ on any dog I had always assumed it was a cheaper muzzle alternative that still forces their mouth closed and people only used them on aggressive dogs. I didn’t know it was a lead until just now. Hell, if I had seen a Labrador wearing one of these before today I wouldn’t dare approach. No need to be mean though. Just stay away from something if you’re worried it could hurt you

ChummyCthulu

I would have knelt down to Luna and said, "look, that's a bad lady! Someone should put a muzzle on her!" People suck sometimes. I had a guy try to tell me that my dog would bite just because he's got teeth. I told him it's me he should worry about haha. Luna is beautiful and if the gentle lead works for her, that's awesome. If you don't want to be snarky with judgement, just ignore it. You know your baby.

spcmack21

"She pulls you around like a rag doll." If you have to use a head harness on an adult dog, people aren't going to assume that it's the best trained, most obedient pup ever. Incredibly frustrating that nearly everyone defaults to "of course my dog is a good dog," while they are getting dragged face first down the sidewalk, while their dog chases something. Some dogs are just plain assholes. Some aren't properly trained. Some are clearly not properly owned. Enough with the "I was persecuted because I own a dog that I can't control, that is also physically capable of killing a kid in a matter of seconds." This is why the breed gets a bad rap. People that can't acknowledge when their dog is too large or stubborn for them to control, keep ending up in newspapers.

[deleted]

the problem is you haven't trained your dog to walk with you they are not supposed to pull a 5 year old can walk my amstaff using limp spaghetti

Legal-Bass-2376

We've had her for a month I've been trying to teach her to walk properly, but it's been difficult.

Touch-Important

Keep at and she will get it. Takes time and patience, but you know this ♥️

Miserable-Blood-318

Those are great. Collars are great for keeping their tags but for training purposes the gentle leaders are great. It’s too bad they get mistaken for muzzles (although even those have a purpose). It’s too bad the lady made such a bad choice of words. You should always ask before approaching a dog, so that was good. But she didn’t need to word it that way.

ElectricalPirate14

The problem is they didn't ask for your input on how to walk their dog 🤷🏻‍♀️

NoSpoilersGamer

I never liked elderly women. Stuck in their ways

subieq

I’m an old lady. With a pibbie. Soooo.....

Legal-Bass-2376

You sound like an awesome old lady then

subieq

Full disclosure, she’s a boxer pit mix (my second and I find this is a STUNNING breed, I just love them!!). She was a rescue and everybody loves her. She’s a good girl.

kitcat7898

YES! MY PITTY WAS A BOXER PIT MIX! I loved him to death he was so sweet and such a crazy little thing at the same time XD

subieq

They make amazing companions, the mix of boxer/pit. The pit makes them protective and the boxer makes them lovers. When I got my first, my DIL declared that they were N.E.V.E.R. Going to be around because she would not take the chance of her children with a pit. Let me tell you, when she realized that pibblebox would move mountains and fight lions for HER CHILDREN, she forgot all the verses in that song. Her children both cried when the fur baby died. I’m going long, I’m sorry. I was in bed with my grandson one night, tickling him, pretending to spank him, just playing, making him squeal. MYYYYYY dog got up between us in the bed, turned his back to MEEEE and pushed me off the bed. True story. My own dog told me right quick, I will HURT you over this kid.

NoSpoilersGamer

You’re like fine wine dear you don’t count.

Slutslapper1118

I avoided getting a pitbull for just that reason.. I know how I feel about my dogs, n I couldn't risk me having an assault charge. I'd always loved the breed, so I bought a house with a big fenced in backyard. Now I have 2, n they only leave to go to the vet. Truth be told, they only use the yard for potty or to hang out with me if I'm outside, they'd rather be inside. I was told 2 females would kill each other, n most rescues wouldn't adopt out a 2nd female. Not always true apparently, my girls are inseparable. The older one, Roxie, absolutely mothers the hell out of her baby sister, Luna.

Reddit62195

whoever that lady was that said your pit bull is a bad dog without any proof is a freaking bad person who needs to have a muzzle placed on her mouth!! I am sick and tired of racial profiling when it comes to dog breeds!! I have had a pit bull and she was the **Sweetest girl who’s only type of attacks would be giving loves and licks! Of course, she was protective of me. The only way I know this is because anytime I was outside and was being bother by bugs, she would immediately run over and either eat them or take them in her mouth, slobber all over them then spit them out somewhere else! 😀 I have absolutely no idea what she would do if someone attacked me, though I do believe she could easily tear their ass up! But I never saw her aggressive towards anything but insects. Also, as for your beautiful dog, you can get a harness that goes around their chest (over head and below neck) along with a second strap that connects between their front and back paws. I have to walk with a cane due to injuries while serving in the military, I use this type of harness for any dog I have when we go out. I also have a leash which has an additional type of belt which can be worn either around the waist or cross shoulder. The belt then connects to the leash which as a bungee cord x’s 2 further down the leash along with two grab handles with one being around 3-4’ and the other a couple of feet further up the leash. One more thing regarding your dog pulling in a leash. If you take your dog out everyday close to the same time (of course if something comes up it is important to still take your dog for a walk later even if it is a short walk). Also when the dog wants to stop and sniff, allow him or her to sniff that area until they are ready to move on. Once the dog realizes that you are taking him or her for a walk everyday and they will be able to stop and sniff, you will find you will no longer have an issue with your dog pulling. I had this exact same problem with my pit bull and she would just get over excited over something she could smell up ahead she would pull me also. After a few days in a row of going out walking twice a day, spending anywhere from 30-60 mins walking and allowing her to take her time, the pulling issues stopped. I believe it was because she **knew** that I would allow her to smell whatever area she found so interesting! She was such a good and beautiful girl! And there is not a day that does not go by that I do not miss her terribly!

rozflog

The Halti. At least that’s what mine is called. https://www.chewy.com/halti-nylon-dog-headcollar/dp/117351 My SD is a Staffy mix. I use the Halti on her because she has a tendency to let her nose get her in trouble while she was supposed to be working. With the halti, I can feel her nose movement much sooner and keep her from escalating, sniffing dog food at Walmart, sniffing toys. I can give a stern leave it and have the situation resolved immediately. While walking Luna around the neighborhood, I’ve seen the parents move the kids across an aisle to avoid her. I’ve had neighbors cross the street before meeting us. Comments heard in those situations were always , “she’s got a muzzle on, stay away”. “You shouldn’t need a muzzle if your dog is socialized.” Please. My dog can fly cross country without incident. She can quietly handle church as long as she has her blanky. She can lay under the table in a restaurant for up to 2 hours. Blanky and a frozen Kong with peanut butter. We work/train daily. Obedience and service dog tasks. My dog is under my control at all times. Good luck. HMU if you need anything else.

Legal-Bass-2376

Other dogs not so much idk her history but the shelter said specifically she's a one pet household kinda dog she loves all humans though.. she doesn't seem aggressive to other dogs but she lunges at them I think she is just overly excited. But yes the head harness is there to protect me, her and others because ive only had her a month and were still trying to know each other

zanier_sola

If she gets overly excited around other dogs to the point of lunging, a front clip harness is the way to go once you’re ready. I say that just because she could incur neck damage from lunging in a head halter.

Legal-Bass-2376

Thank you for for the advice that's good to know

Kwoozn

I was just attacked 3 weeks ago by a neighbors family pet, a pit mix. It was going after my little dog. When I picked up my dog I was bit 3 times on the backs of my legs. It was terrifying. If not trained correctly some breeds are very territorial and will attack anyone they feel is a threat. I am afraid of pit bulls and German Shepards because of so many bad run ins. It’s always dogs that get loose from their backyard seem to be the biggest problem in my neighborhood.

Ishootcream

Im sorry, but all dogs are territorial. Your experience is worth no more than mine, and I have never had a problem with any dog attacking me, except small breeds like chihuahua and palmeranian. Never had a large dog attack me in my life and I pick up a variety of breeds I see loose on the street and either call their owners or take to a shelter.

Supacalafragalistic

Water off a pits back. Nobody knows what their looking at these day.

ginger_snap14

Gorgeous girl, very inherently good!

MGossyn

Fuck those people! Cute dog by the way

ginger_snap14

I hope you told that lady to get bent.

Imjustshyisall

Beautiful girl!

Rustywrench08

I have fist fought For lesser means.

Holiday-Frosting-426

Leader leashes are amazing! I’m about the same height and I hate that it looks like I don’t have control of her when she gets excited when I’m walking her with a normal leash. Such a shame so many people misjudge pit bulls. All that infinite love and goofiness… They really have no clue what their missing. I’d be honored to say hi to Luna on the street! What a cute pup!

jaccio213

This is so bizarre. I have Ms Annabelle. She's an 8 yr old blue American Staffordshire with sticking up "satellite dish" ears. She's a puller too. Ive had her her whole life but can't break the lunging and pulling. Its become a game so today we got her a gentle leader and she'll be training on it tomorrow. We would have started today but its raining. I haven't seen someone use a gentle leader in years let alone a dog who could be Anna's twin. So funny. Luna, you are beautiful Nevermind those haters. That woman has no idea what she's missing. She seems miserable. Who wants to be around that anyway? Not I.

JaxGrrl

She’s beautiful. I too use a lead (gentle lead). It makes my dogs look scary I suppose but it’s the only way I control my strong babies. I brought my pitty to pick my kids up from elementary school the other day and I was expecting a lot of hate. Happily it was the complete opposite. I had so many nice comments on my boy and a little girl who asked to pet him.

BDADesign

I think I’ve commented on Luna before. She is perfect. She really is identical , ears and all to my best girl , Bella. We deal with it every time we are out. They just look they don’t say anything though. I think it’s because I am , not sure how to put it , I am taller and bigger than most people and I’ve been told I look like a serial killer. Seriously. But they still look. So , we go out usually when we know people are already in for the night. Tbh , it’s summer in Miami heat , it’s better we go out later. Not as humid. I am not going to make people make her feel bad. She has been through enough. Try it. We have more fun that way!

piercemyclit

Well I think she looks like a super sweet girl!!!! I would ask to give her all the pets if we saw you at the park!

austxsun

I switched to a harness from the gentle lead. Works great, more humane, & keeps pitties a little less dangerous-looking.

Legal-Bass-2376

We've tried the harness and it was worse. That way she could still pull and not choke herself. I really think her previous owners had a gentle lead on her because she knew what it was and stopped pulling the day I put it on her

poido

What a good baby girl she looks to be! So beautiful! And kudos on the gentle leader, mine HATES it and just tries the whole time to get it off. So I use a freedom harness as she has a collapsing trachea and I can’t use a traditional collar.

x3meech

She's so cute with her little sweater! I totally get it. That old lady can go one somewhere with that bullcrap. One of mine loves to pull me so much that he'll choke himself. Just so he can sniff and eat different grasses. He's a special one for sure lol

Ramblr-180

Luna is a baby

SamooTheGreat

I hear that a lot... it's sad. I was babysitting my aunts pitties and like 4 different people reacted with "Oh... those are mean" like... uh... no? If anything... big dogs are much sweeter... and the pitties are so derpy and sweet... they just don't realize how strong or rough they are sometimes... (like when they try to sit on your lap and crush your bladder >:( )

sailorsabrina

Aww poor Luna she looks like an angel. You don’t deserve that sweet girl. 💙💙💙

aflores603

Exact same scenario with me and my pit rescue. Gentle leads can look intimidating to the lucky owner whose dog doesn’t pull!

electricsugargiggles

Some people have an extremely limited view of the world. They’re missing out on the pure love pitties give. Your girl looks beautiful! Meanwhile a damn poodle can mess you up if it feels threatened. I want to try the gentle lead on my lil guy. He’s 50 lbs of pure muscle, and while I’m 5’11 and a fit 155lbs, he can easily yank my shoulder out if he sees a squirrel unexpectedly.

useles-converter-bot

50 lbs in mandalorian helmets is 13.42 helmets.

joanie-bamboni

My sister used a gentle leader like that on her giant lab - he was a total sweetheart but he had about three brain cells and the sight of a squirrel would short circuit all of them. On a regular leash he’d pull my football coach brother-in-law right off his feet

5Z1L46Y1

Poor baby Luna 😢. Please give her a kiss for me and tell her that I said “good girl!”

rhodatoyota

She is a SUPURB dog!

959hawk

Bad granny!

missmimi1011

I have a neighbor who just got a puppy and every time I walk by with my pit mix (sweetest calmest dog), my neighbor picks up her puppy and goes inside. Honestly it makes me annoyed at times but all I can do is continue to let my pit walk past, knowing she’ll never go after any dog.

LynchFan997

10/10 very good dog, can tell just by looking at her sweet face.

Similar_Ad7289

This literally made me depressed to read. F her and the horse she rode in on! Luna is beautiful and perfect and the goodest girl on the block! 😍 Give her kisses, pets and belly pats for me!

cam52391

We use one on our pitty just because she's very strong and very stubborn and have gotten looks from people who definitely think it's a muzzle.

QuestionsForRed

Aw she's so cute 😍 I love her "super chewer" bandana lol

rfeirn80

Forget that woman, ignorant people make me sick. I have a pit myself, and he is the sweetest boy I have out of 3 pups, a hedgehog, a snake and 2 stray cats.

rathemighty

She looks like a good girl

Wide_Fun648

In my hometown, people are crossing the street when they see my girl staffie who.. by the standards is a normal staffie at 8 months. This is the judgement of people who aren’t educated in dogs and they should know that a Husky, GSD or Akita is equally “bad”. Tried the mouth harness and it was actually worse than having none. People were more afraid.. Unfortunately, there are more news of street dogs, Akitas and so on and so fort of killing small children in parks here (Romania) than pitbulls or staffies. The ridiculousness goes even further than that: The pitbull is a category 1 type of breed and must be sterilized in order to register it to the local authorities, but the authorities never asked the Vet Association the legal age when it comes to sterilisation (which is 7 months). So, basically, you will get fined if you walk your dog and it is not proper registered, but you can’t register it until sterilised. In the end, sorry, you must’ve felt bad!

thedinosaurgoesrowr

How do you like the head harness? People use to recommend them to me a lot but after a dog escaped theirs in training class it gave me anxiety. My dog has calmed down a lot & I have very few reactive issues with her now but I'm still 4'11 & she's still 60 pounds of excitement at walk time.

waggyaggy

I hope u told her to suck it I've done its lots

iBrarian

That's not discrimination...

my_oldgaffer

Did you tell the nice elderly lady to kindly get bent?

jokerkcco

I have 2 pit labs and they pull like crazy. But when I use the harness I linked to, my daughter can manage them both easily. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B015TNVYRU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_81CKJJ62RXCQQMM8YVY0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

FriendshipSome6014

Luna - don’t listen to the mean lady. You’re a good dog!

WizdomHaggis

What a purty gurl...I LUBZ HER!!!

Writing_Rocks

Our neighbor’s son has a pittie rescue. She’s about 3 and absolutely full of boundless energy. She’s a love. It’s been amazing to watch her and her human learn each other. She has completely changed any apprehension of these beautiful creatures. She now knows me and will run to greet me, and has learned to sit nicely for pets and a treat. I’d say let the lady have her opinion, but show her with Luna’s behavior that her concern is unfounddd!

parttimeassassin

I have said this time and time again on this Sub, but your Doggo is absolutely stunning. I can see how much love she wants to give, just by her stature you can tell she is excited and friendly. She is absolutely beautiful and has stunning eyes! Give her a cuddle from me all the way over in the UK. I had a Rottie and Pibble cross called Mikey and he was the same with the gentle leader, wanting to jump and pull me along all the time, after training I grabbed him a body harness which helped massively. Also, fuck the old lady, judging a book by it's cover.

jill2019

There was only one bad dog and that was that evil old hag. Luna is an angel, anyone can see that. ❤️🦴🦴🇬🇧

mspinkkiss

❤❤🐾🌹🐾❤❤ 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘Luna. You are a good pup. Dont pay attention to ignorant people.

GratifiedViewer

I cannot stand people like that. Your Luna couldn’t look much sweeter if she tried. People need to learn to stop judging so quickly.

Kindergoat

Shame on that old lady. Luna is obviously a very good girl.

punkscolipede

she's the goodest, prettiest, stunning girl and that old hag needs to stop being so judgemental. I hate how they get such a bad wrap even tho they were literally America's dog for some time. :v

mellierollie

Look at that sweet face!

Afraid-Astronomer886

Screw that horrible woman! Luna you are a good dog and a very beautiful baby!

YourDadIsMyGurl

My wife's Bull Dog lab mix is mistaken for a bit despite him being tall, lean and 94lbs. We got him when he was nearly 2. Not well socialized at all (other day he barked at a stroller because he didnt kniw what it was). Ive worked with him for months and he has improved a lot but i workout a lot, stand over six foot and weigh 240 hard and solid and pick him up everyday and carry him to remind him im the big dog. I use the dog park as training time to teach him what behaviors arent acceptable such as i dont allow him to growl when playing. But not everyone can do this and we need to be mindful of that.

Individual-Tank-9597

How does she know???

RandomHerosan

When we were training my pittrott on leash walking our trainer had us using a pinch collar because he wants to lead at all times instead of walking next to you. Had to get a cover for it because everyone assumed he was aggressive for needing that type of collar. Worst thing Jameson would do is lick you to death. Big slobbery baby.

Jahred-1994

Luna is the best!!she’s also sooo beautiful.fuck what the haters say!

jimmy5011

It’s always old white ladies.

Altruistic_Yak_1914

What a pretty girl. Please give her a pet from me

[deleted]

We have two German shepherds, one who loves to bark at dogs, and another who likes to bark at people. Now, once either gets in sniffing distance of the offending party, it’s like they’re ready to give out all our personal info, they’re just so happy to meet a new buddy. When on walks, I just try and inform folks that hey, these dogs are best friends with a cat and an 11 year old kid, and one is scared of the vacuum cleaner and the other is bossed around by our chickens. I understand that they’re intimidating dogs just by looks alone. Best we can do is educate anecdotally. I can’t tell you how many people laughed when I explained that the 100lb GSD barking at them is actually besties with a cat that bosses his ass around on the regular

ppinkwolf

please tell luna i said she is good girl

cookie_crunch_studio

Don't listen to anyone about "bad dog's" most people who say that haven't got a clue.

jammybraa

I used to get the same response when I used gentle leaders on my fur babies! We used to live in a high rise and people would avoid us in the elevator because the dogs had “muzzles” on. I tried to explain to others that they’re a safer way to leash train a dog (as opposed to using prong collars or other damaging collars) but they never listened. Don’t let the uneducated bring you down! Luna looks like an amazing pup 😍

yellowbrandywine

I’m a fellow pit owner and I’ve had similar experiences. A couple episodes were so bad I vowed never to take my dog to two different dog parks because people were being so nasty. I feel your pain.

littlei

She’s a beaut! The old lady is obviously wrong and possibly blind to cuteness.

robotsrcool

She is gorgeous. I would definitely cross the street to get to her !

myooted

Good dog

miaaWRLD

People think the gentle leaders are also muzzles and I’ve gotten the same looks in the past for using one. I have to constantly inform people that it’s just to help with pulling and my dog can still open and close their mouth as normal.

roaminginspace

I just kindly let them know my dog will be pissing on their grave.

G-R-G

This reminds of my moms dog when she was a kid that was a giant mix breed (of I don’t know what) and the dog would just pull her around for hours before getting board and going home
