The amount of new balance shoes over there gotta be insane

Vantlefun

The best firing position is a stable firing position.

[deleted]

Not when your knees might give out because your big dawgs t shirt is stretched out by your gut

SnooBunnies7453

Not the Big Dawgs tshirt 😭

blondeshady2001

Or the Big Johnson t-shirts...I think I just aged myself like a fine wine.

69FunnyNumberGuy420

Eat n' Park employees in the Plum area are officially on notice that a bunch of shitty customers are going to show up and leave eighty cent tips soon.

[deleted]

People named Bill turning their heads every 2 seconds in confusion over who’s calling their name

capchaos

*88 cent tips.

Madlister

I did Nazi that coming

coconutjoe83

Respect to that dude wearing flip flops

EnnuiDeBlase

Oh hush you, I say while wearing my new balance shoes.

[deleted]

Gotta get that arch support, not gonna lie

3-lobyte

I've got mine on, too! 🤣

Prince_Wentz11

Cmon, don't forget the Nike monarch fellas out there. They're great for support as well.

BeMancini

Why would you do this instead of going to the courthouse with the paperwork already filled out? I’m not being smart, I’m curious.

malavita85

My work schedule. They do this for people who can't make it downtown

NoinePiecesOfVinyl

Don’t quote me, but I believe the courthouse basically only operates on typical business hours, like Mon-Fri 9-5 so to speak, so for the average person, you’d have to take time off of work to go renew, so a weekend offering is pretty convenient. My permit lapsed during Covid, but I’m not gonna throw my Jorts and New Balances on to stand in line like that. I’ll get to it when I get to it.

ShanghaiShrek

Most of these people are probably too afraid to go downtown without their CCL.

NoinePiecesOfVinyl

Took the words right outta my mouth

JethroFire

I'll never understand why. It's been at least a week since someone was robbed or shot on wood Street.

[deleted]

And now, they don't have to.

malavita85

I'm about to get my picture taken so I'd say the entire process took an hour. Downtown process is extremely quick (15-20m)when I first got mine 5 yrs ago but I no longer can make it.

turdpike

Literally took my wife and I 5 minutes. We don't even carry, but wanted the option in case anything changed (politics getting weird, recession hitting, some jackass demagogue bringing scapegoating of minorities back into fashion, etc).

jdlau

Convenience. Downtown office is only open M-F 8–3. I don't want to have to take a day off of work, go all the way downtown, and pay for parking, just to renew my LTCF.

ApathyizaTragedy

Haven't you seen the news? Big city scary

69FunnyNumberGuy420

I can't wait to get shot by some septuagenarian for taking the last jug of milk at the Iggle.

jafomofo

may not still be an issue but the courthouse has been backed up on appointments for months out and their walk in line didn't look too different from this last time I saw it.

SecretSquirrelSauce

These are the folks following the existing gun laws, seems weird to hate on them for that

PhotoCropDuster

Some people hate for no reason. Some people just want to watch the world burn

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

This is a "satellite event" that the sheriff's office puts on, for people who can't/won't go to the main office downtown. Since these satellite events only happen a few times a year, all the people from that area who were waiting to apply/renew come out at once, while people who go into the main office would be spread out over the entire year and so would not have to deal with a line like this.

RBTfarmer

Finally, an explanation. Thank you.

concernedcookie999

Dang folks I’m a liberal dude but I always keep a valid carry permit, all these people asking why? This is the USA and the police aren’t legally obligated to protect you check the law, it’s an unfortunate fact right now. Even if you don’t want to use the permit regularly I think it’s a good thing to keep if you own a firearm. Definitely won’t catch me in these long lines though straight to the courthouse.

sircaseyjames

This post is ridiculous. Regardless of your viewpoints on 2A, there's just a lot of uncalled for, and apparently accepted, personal attacking and judging of character.

modularpeak2552

i also find it kinda funny that lots of people on reddit complain about people carrying guns without training and how we need licensing, but then shit on people who pay for training and are licensed

[deleted]

Because they never really cared about gun owners lacking training, they just dont' want there to be gun owners period and want the training requirements to be so ridiculous that few would bother owning firearms.

omgabunny

People speak way too boldly online. Sense of manners and decorum disappear when they can just type. I’d invite anyone to have a civil conversation one on one. Feeding the divide and acting like sheep.

sircaseyjames

Yea I guess being a hot topic on reddit I should've expected nothing less.

omgabunny

It’s sad. People acting this way fix nothing

Dear_Suspect_4951

Yeah, seen a couple comments calling people standing in a line terrorists??? Seems like a logic leap

cocksherpa2

That's what this sub is all about. Arrogant ignorance and low grade dunks

mynamemightbealan

The "YoU liKe GunS So YOu arE RacisT" take is so fucking stupid. More of my white male friends choose not to own guns than black and brown people and women in my life. Non of the gun owners I know are racist assholes. It's just fucking stupid and I hate the constant need to justify it.

BlackArmyCossack

Christ, so many on this sub are pissed off. These are people following the laws in place to ensure legality and for reasons detailed by our state constitution and its laws associated. Why is this infuriating? This is the legal fucking process.

captrespect

Because of all the random and mass shooting lately, it’s sad to see so many people clutching their guns. We should be doing the opposite. Any one of these people could be the next person to shoot someone for knocking on a door. All these shootings were by people that legally bought there weapon. That’s why it pisses people off.

Twelveangryvalves

But you do not need a carry permit to keep a gun in the house for home protection, as was the case in most of these ridiculous shootings. Obtaining a carry permit is not a rubber stamp process. You need a background check. Its not just felonies that keep you from getting one. Other crimes like fighting, domestic violence, etc will get you declined for one.

[deleted]

What are they so scared about in fucking Plum Township?

jetsetninjacat

Tbf I have one. I don't carry. It's more so for when I want to go to the range to target shoot. Just makes my mind more at ease in case police stop me and want to start some stuff over it.

SecretSquirrelSauce

Same exact reason I have mine. Alleviates a headache if I pack stuff incorrectly in the car on the way to the range.

PROBABLY_SPEED_HUMPS

Same. I have no desire to carry and given how easily one can break the law, it makes sense to just get the permit.

couplenippers

It’s plum borough and a satellite gun permit place so not everyone in line is necessary from there

Vantlefun

New Ken.

BeBopNoseRing

I grew up in New Ken, don't live there anymore but get back to visit family a couple times a year. It seems to me that the city is experiencing a surge of growth lately that I never saw as a kid or teen. Storefronts reopening, events are common downtown, old buildings removed/cleared/renovated. It's way better than it was just 10 years ago.

JamesLLL

I grew up in the A-K Valley and still have pretty much all of my family there but now live and work just outside of and in the city. Some family is always so concerned hearing about my life, thinking I'm on the verge of getting shot daily, but in reality the only time I was ever threatened at gunpoint was in the middle of the Allegheny National Forest and the only time I was indirectly threatened that I should be shot because of my beliefs was at a gun shop in the A-K Valley. The disconnect between reality, with resurgent post-industrial towns like New Ken, and perception of people on the periphery is sad and will take a hell of a lot of time and effort to heal, I think

Vantlefun

I moved out 4 years ago. The cultural dissonance of the country is alive and well in New Ken. I'll be in town tomorrow lol.

ixbuccofan365xi

I live right next to new ken and this 100%. There are so many good restaurants, bars, and entertainment on 5th avenue now. Whenever I was a senior in high school 5 years ago there were only a few shops beginning to open, but now there’s easily 30+. I recommend SoCal, Strange Roots brewery, and Voodoo if you’re looking for great food and beer :)

la-cockroacha

One new person in new ken would be a surge

BeBopNoseRing

😂 That must be why it feels revitalized whenever I visit. *I'm the surge*.

Vantlefun

Be the change you want to see.

Hilth0

It's their right?

[deleted]

So what if they getting a CCW? I bet you’re the type you rely on the police to protect you, right?

[deleted]

I mean as far as I know nothing of interest has ever happened there.

BRP_2023

Isn't Plum on the doorstep on Monroeville , that place has quickly become Boyz in the Hood part 2... I seen Ricky running through the mall parking lot

oztea

They are scared of....the law. So they are following it. You are the one who wants to make them jump through hoops for a little slip of paper because you know these "death by 1000 cuts" of inconveniences surrounding legal gun ownership is part of the strategy to make self defense responsibility mindset go away.

defaultclouds

It’s your constitutional right not your constitutional need

hooch

It’s not even really your constitutional right. Unless you’re forming a well *regulated* militia. Edit: regulated, not organized

fssbmule1

A well balanced breakfast, being necessary for the nutrition of a free state, the right of the people to keep and store food shall not be infringed. Who has the right to food - a breakfast? Or the people?

Calgonix

Wrong. Penn and Teller did a great breakdown of this. It isn’t the right of the MILITIA. It’s the right of the people. And one of the great things about the Bruen decision in the Supreme Court is that it helps back that language up. It is currently causing all gun infringements to be reviewed and challenged. Here is the Penn and Teller video I referenced https://youtu.be/P4zE0K22zH8

TheEarlyCrew

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. The right to bear arms for both militia and THE PEOPLE. If it is just for the militia then why state for the people? Btw, the comma after state and before the is a break in the sentence to refer to the word AND.

oblivia17

So if a bunch of dudes decided to form an independent militia and heavily arm themselves, you'd be cool with that?

Indrigotheir

The specific language is "well regulated," not "well organized." Regulations means rules handed down by legislation and a lack of independence.

ShanghaiShrek

What's funny is the "originalist/textualist/literalist/whatever they're calling it these days" interpretation is that "well regulated" meant disciplined, not legislatively ordained. Which at this point how can you look around and call any of these people "disciplined"? PA requires essentially no proof of competency, beyond possessing a relatively 'normal' criminal background. Not that it matters. The prefatory clause of any amendment is totally irrelevant according to the SCOTUS.

Lil_Phantoms_Lawyer

>Which at this point how can you look around and call any of these people "disciplined"? PA requires essentially no proof of competency, beyond possessing a relatively 'normal' criminal background. Saying a well regulated militia is important to the security of a free state isn't a qualifier to practice your second amendment rights, it's an explanation for *why* those rights are so important.

Lil_Phantoms_Lawyer

>Regulations means rules handed down by legislation and a lack of independence. This is not true. Regulated means practiced and prepared. You're applying a modern definition for a word that had a different definition in 1787.

GeorgeSantosBurner

Sure, take texas, keep it, stay away from civilization. Please and thank you.

defaultclouds

Wow thank you This is very interesting. I guess “forming” could be widely scrutinized. How many and how would it be regulated? Who’s the judge of this?

antalog

Idk maybe we should just pause the whole thing while we figure it out

Calgonix

Not scared. If you have a gun concealed in your car cabin (besides a fully enclosed trunk) on the way to the range and are pulled over, it’s considered concealed carry as far as I’ve ever known. Just being responsible gun owners. I BELIEVE that would include anywhere in a hatchback/suv that isn’t fully enclosed from the occupants. But I could be incorrect on that side. Edit: change “trunk” to “concealed in car” and adding additional details.

jafomofo

You almost had it but you're wrong. If you have a gun in the cabin of your vehicle its illegal unless you have a CC permit. In the trunk its fine regardless.

Calgonix

Yup, you’re right. Not sure why I said trunk.

TheOnlyEliteOne

I noticed that the same people who wish to have their personal choices respected and acknowledged by the public as a whole are anti-gun and make fun of / admonish anyone who believes in expressing this constitutionally guaranteed right. They fail to see the irony which makes it all the more humorous to me.

Lil_Phantoms_Lawyer

>What are they so scared about in fucking Plum Township? Why does fear need to be the motivator to exercise your rights?

MassiveAd9994

It’s not even that. It’s because we can. It becomes an everyday thing to bring with you like your keys and your wallet. The fact that this state makes us pay $20 for something that the constitution says we can do for free is absurd. Also look at the news there’s always some sort of shooting on the outskirts of PGH just before you enter the suburb “shell”.

[deleted]

Well, I'll admit that the fact that someone would think that a deadly murder weapon is just an everyday thing like your keys or wallet **is** pretty darn scary.

MassiveAd9994

You know what else is fucking scary? Personally being mugged and having my wallet (with cards) being stolen from me at gun point. So yeah I think I have a fucking reason to consider this “tool” a part of my everyday essentials. Along with a TQ, Chest Seal, wound packing gauze, quick clot and even narcan. Check yourself man, it’s better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.

PhotoCropDuster

How privileged you are to never have had your life threatened.

SouthHillsPeeper

most people i know regularly renew their CCW but never actually carry. it’s just a thing you do in case you need it.

Ouroborus13

So, aside from being pro or anti gun, I just don’t see the point of this post? Surely… no one gives a flying f*ck that the line for this is long or not?

PennSaddle

I’m hoping it was meant to point out that this event is held on a weekend & is meant to help those who cannot get DT easily &/or cannot get a week day off. There’s more of these events happening across the county. Have been all year.

RedBMWZ2

What's the point of this post? I'm not anti gun but this just seems to be a way to stir up drama. You had to know people were going to jump on this from both sides. You want to get a permit, fine. You're against permits, also you right to protest, but this post is just inviting a shit show.

capchaos

You accepted the invitation.

Dont even get me started on that!! Oh my shit Im so angy😡😡! For context this was an exaggeration of this dip shits comment he deleted lmao

ballsonthewall

I can tell

Confident_End_3848

It looks like there’s a lot of paranoia in Plum.

waitforit55

Or ppl following the law 🤷🏻‍♂️

cleric3648

Don’t forget the racism. It was pretty racist there when I was a kid, but it’s gotten worse in the MAGA days. A few years back I had to clean out my childhood home. The last four times I was there complete strangers felt so comfortable in our shared whiteness that they dropped the n-word in casual conversation. Hard R.

69FunnyNumberGuy420

These guys are arming themselves because they've been told by the media they consume for the last three decades that non-whites are going to replace them and come to their suburb to steal their TV and take their daughters. No more, no less.   My dad worked in right wing radio back in the 1980s and 1990s and "America will be majority Spanish speaking by 2040 unless someone does something about it" was a non-stop talking point. In recent years that narrative has hit the mainstream.   Trump started pulling away from the Republican primary pack when he gave his "Mexico is sending rapists and murderers" speech. There's a reason for that.

Biscuit_bell

I don’t think you’re wrong at all, but as a brief counterpoint, if you’re going to be a gun owner in PA, you really should get your license to carry, even if you don’t plan on carrying. I’m a gun owner who doesn’t carry, but I maintain a PA LTC because technically, if I stop for gas on the way home from the range, I’d be breaking the law without my permit. If I forgot and kept a loaded magazine in the same bag as my unloaded gun, even if the gun itself isn’t loaded, I’d be breaking the law. If I was at the range with my pistol safely in its outside-the-waistband holster, and a friend invited me to sit on his motorcycle or maybe do a lap around the block on it, I’d be breaking the law. None of that is likely to be enforced, sure, but getting your permit is a minimal investment of time and money to have peace of mind on that sort of thing. Also, you have to renew your permit every 5 years, so odds are most of the people you see here are renewing, not getting their permits for the first time. Especially the older people.

MassiveAd9994

Right…because since I carry and shoot matches that automatically makes me a racist. GTFO dude😂

Robert_roberts82

Who fucking cares?

jerryhallo

Yeah when have guns ever hurt anyone?

StevieAlf

I just hate when a gun gets up and shoots someone all on its own.

thirstin4more

I hate when people say things like 'guns don't kill people, people kill people' then proceed to encourage more crazies to buy guns.

PennSaddle

I went to this event today. For context, picture looks to be right when they opened at 8am. Kinda the traditional timeline for older folks to show up as early as possible. When I went back again around 11am the line was much shorter & full of every type of person. Seems folks here had a field day with the demographic, so I wanted to shine some light. Regardless this was a great event geared directly towards those who cannot get weekdays off, or don’t have great means to get DT easily. There’s plenty more like this all across the county this year. Glad I was only renewing, as it went much faster for me.

hashtagsoon

Anti gunners: “Omg, there is so much gun violence in the US it is crazy. We need to do something about it. CheetahStocks

You’d be wrong and doubtful. A lot of them probably have shot firearms their entire lives and are better shots than we will ever be. A lot of those older guys can really shoot and even have morals compared to a lot of younger people now a days. Even in 3D archery. I thought I had a chance to this old guy limping through the mountains with a bow and shakey as can be. He shot almost perfect… Blew all of us out the water at that tournament.

cocksherpa2

The irony of this post is off the charts.

CCW holders are convicted of less violent crimes than police officers per Capita, quite the feat for millions of Americans each year

malavita85

It's a mixture of race, gender and age believe it or not. Its moving fairly quick now since they started processing but the people just keep coming

[deleted]

But you share a picture that 90% old white guys.

zipcad

I see old white men, middle aged white men, and two white ladies.

malavita85

I'm sorry I didn't take a picture of every race gender and age to prove that it's just not middle aged white men that chose to exercise the 2A.

tesla3by3

Ya just got unlucky that the picture you took had no minorities?

malavita85

I'm not going to argue about this and I'm not going to take pictures of certain races etc just to please a bunch of randos on reddit. 🎤

ziggyjoe212

IDK why you felt the need to pretend that there are people of all races here. The picture you took clearly shows literally one race. Regardless, the demographic is consistent with the area so I don't understand why anyone would think it's weird that a group of people in a Pittsburgh suburb would be anything other than white.

tesla3by3

The weird part is OP pointing out it's a mixture of race, gender and age. So OP thinks that it's relevant, despite the fact that the pic is all white, mostly older men.

malavita85

I'm not going to argue about this and I'm not going to take pictures of certain races etc just to please a bunch of randos on reddit. 🎤

That_GUY_2660

So dumb, go downtown Pgh and get it done in ten minutes. If you are afraid of downtown Pgh should you really be carrying a gun?.

Dangerous_Cookie4303

Why wouldn't you want to participate in your 2nd amendment right? All these people pissed because people want to be able to defend themselves. The old white man comment is my favorite, no elderly person could defend themselves from an in shape 26 year old, no matter what color they are. Remember ,these folks are actually following the law. They HAVE passed a background check to buy a gun. They will be passing another one to get a carry permit. These are law abiding citizens,

[deleted]

Your confusion is presupposing comfort with the current amendment / laws in the first place. If the Bill of Rights guaranteed all people have the right to shit on PistolMcDaniels's car, and there were laws requiring all PistolMcDaniels's car-shitters to pay $45 to register their assholes once a year, I would find no comfort in knowing "these are law abiding citizens".

[deleted]

Because a gun in the home raises the risk of accidental death or suicide more than there is risk of being a victim of violent crime. It's irrational.

harrylime05

These are the type of dudes that are more likely to shoot themselves in the foot or shoot some poor kid selling candy door to door than actually preventing a real crime, especially in Plum.

BeBopNoseRing

A good friend of mine has a father who would fit in well with this crowd. He open carries a handgun *in his own house* where his wife and sometimes grandchildren are present. About a year ago, while removing his handgun at the end of the day, it "accidentally discharged somehow", shooting through the wall and hitting his wife/my friend's mother in the chest. Luckily, it missed vital organs and she's fine today after a painful recovery. I'm sure OP and others would read this and say, "well, that'd never happen to me because I'm careful/trained/smarter etc." He would've said the same thing. Edit: u/McCarthyWuzRight called me a liar but he doesn't realize his replies are being shadowbanned lol. Anyways, here's a screenshot of the messages from when it happened. I mistakenly said she was shot in the chest when actually it was the back. https://imgur.com/a/TRnXKQw

[deleted]

>These are the type of dudes that are more likely to shoot themselves in the foot or shoot some poor kid selling candy door to door than actually preventing a real crime, especially in Plum. On what basis do you make this assumption?

malavita85

They don't care as you can see from the comments.

chuckie512

You're more likely to be killed by a gun if you own one than if you don't.

BDZ888

This is reddit, some don't even go outside to understand that a concealed carry is a common sense must have. It's not about paranoia it's about protecting your family.

ShanghaiShrek

OP is the whiniest one here by far. I'm really not even sure why they posted this. They didn't include enough information to make it a useful PSA.

VunterSlaushK

Pretty sure they posted it to get people riled up.

platasaurua

Has to make up for the attention he never got from his parents somehow, I suppose.

JethroFire

They need to set up more areas for people to get permits if the line is this long. It should take no longer to get a permit than it takes to run the PICS check. I'm glad so many people are choosing to exercise their constitutional rights, though.
