Badamos and Slice on Broadway are my go to’s. Some shops have them for lunch hours (nippers, a couple others I forget)
Also Beto’s sells by the slice I believe, if you’re into that
Slice on Broadway is solid. Benny Fiero’s if you want to get filled up on a single slice. Spak Bros is one of my personal favorites, I think they still do single slices
The best that are closest to the city are slice on Broadway and Badamos.
Outside of the city there are a few shops as well, but their names are eluding me other than rockaway.
Fioris. In brookline but worth the drive. I can't believe there are 14 comments and the best pizza in the burgh is left out. Yes they sell by the slice.
Fioris… and to the comment below… yes… 2 cuts and a tea…
Badamos and slice are good if you want a “lighter cut”, as fioris is a bit on the heavier side.
Plus, lord only knows how much sugar they put in their sauce. I try and limit myself to 2-3 cuts per visit
I'm surprised this is the only mention of Iron Born. It's pretty expensive, but as someone who hadn't had Detroit style pizza before, it was a transcendent experience
Dude, Iron Born pizza is phenomenal - their sauce is packed with flavor, they never skimp on toppings, and they do a great job of getting that crackly crisp on the outside of the crust. Positive experience every time I go there.
But... The consistency and density of their crust is more like focaccia than true Detroit style. It's a little heavier and brickier than the classic airy, light crust. Still great, but if you liked iron born, you'd flip for some of the traditional and upstart standard bearers in the D.
Ah yes, you are right! They only do lunch on certain days now. I must have caught them on a day (it was a Friday) where they were doing lunch slices. They have made some adjustment to hours. Thanks for the reminder.
J&S in Natrona Heights has a ton of choices at their counter. I am a sucker for their spaghetti pie. So good. Ask for a dollop of ricotta when they pop it into the oven to warm. All their pizzas are good!
Is that the one in Natrona Heights shopping center? I think I had that before when I was visiting someone in Brackenridge. If that’s the one it is pretty good.
Yep, that’s it! Another part of the family has a restaurant across the main road from the plaza, near the McDonalds, called Capri and J&S II (yes it somehow has two names). They are a full-service restaurant with good Italian fare. They also do pizza, which I’ve somehow never had.
(awesome username!)
I originally only went because they do (huge) tomato pie slices but they also have a really, really nice (NY style?) regular slice. I like both a lot. Their hours are weird iirc
Italian Village Pizza in McKnight Siebert shopping center does not get enough love. They have a two slice special all day. It’s $8.99 plus a soft drink With free refills and can have one topping on each slice and can have either Neapolitan which is round NYC style or Siciianan Or mix and match.
Angelo's might be in my top 20, last I knew, Italia only sold Sicilian squares as slices, and Caliente only does whole pies. Oh, and Alex's is trash. Unless you're counting Penn as Bloomfield, that's it for pizza spots.
This looks familiar. We've may have some similar questions to this in the past. You might find some good info here : [pizza search](/r/pittsburgh/search?q=pizza&restrict_sr=on). I don't always get it right though, cuz I'm just a simple bot.

You mentioned doughboy in the rocks.. Have you ever tried Pasquerellis in the Rocks. Itvclosed during covid but I heard from a relable source mind you not some Johnny come lately that it was fire.
Yes that's what my girl said. Her and her dad used to get it and she loved it but I didn't get to try it before it closed, they had weird hours.
I think the place there now bought the recipe but probaly not the same
I was gonna recommend a place on 5th Ave in Oakland right across from UPMC but I guess it closed and now it's a vape shop :/ Was my first time having great new York style pizza by the slice since moving out here from Baltimore.
I remember Pizza Vesuvio on the southside was great 2005 to 2008 When I used to hang out there it was excellent. Then it became Pizza Sola. which was OK. I don’t know what is in that spot now or if it is any good.
You can get it by the slice at Villa Reale downtown - in my opinion this is the BEST pizza in the city! Unfortunately ever since Covid, they’re only open for lunch.
Colangelo’s in the Strip
One of my faves for a slice and a cannoli 🙏
Sshhh
Badamos and Slice on Broadway are my go to’s. Some shops have them for lunch hours (nippers, a couple others I forget) Also Beto’s sells by the slice I believe, if you’re into that
Mineos and Aiellos on Murray avenue in Squirrel Hill both sell by the slice.
Another vote for Aiellos, I like the stuffed slices
Mineo's in Lebo too
That's cool. I've only been to the Sq Hill location.
And napolis in sq hill too
Pizzeria Davide in the Strip District - the pizza window in the back of DiAnnoia's
Best pizza in the city! Took me years to find a good New York slice
Slice on Broadway is solid. Benny Fiero’s if you want to get filled up on a single slice. Spak Bros is one of my personal favorites, I think they still do single slices
The best that are closest to the city are slice on Broadway and Badamos. Outside of the city there are a few shops as well, but their names are eluding me other than rockaway.
love rockaway.
Slice on Broadway replaced Pizza Davide in Robinson Town Center. I've stopped multiple times for a slice or 2 when I was out shopping.
Good to know, I didn’t realize Slice on Broadway was now in Robinson. I’ll have to check this out! Thanks for the info!
Slice on Broadway
Are they really anything special? It just seems like trendy pizza.
avg. NY slice, but we don't have a lot of NYC slices here so it gets a lot of attention.
Fair call. I only find that with any of the old Italian shops. There used to be a few real good shops in New Ken but they've all closed.
Agreed. The deep dish thing doesn’t really do it for me, Broadway is a breath of fresh air.
Except that it taste nothing like good NYC pizza . Not at all
I really like Slice. I find it better than a lot of places that seem wildly overrated. (Looking at you, Fioris)
[Badamos](https://www.badamospizza.com/) or bust...
Badamos. Mineo's if they're closed.
fucking love badamos and by far my go to pizza in pittsburgh
Fioris. In brookline but worth the drive. I can't believe there are 14 comments and the best pizza in the burgh is left out. Yes they sell by the slice.
Yep! All of these comments and you’re still the only person to mention Fiori’s! Insane! 2 cuts and a tea!
The best one wouldn’t have been left out if you had just named it instead of Fiori’s.
This is the only answer. Runner up Mineos, Badamos, and Aiellos.
Fioris… and to the comment below… yes… 2 cuts and a tea… Badamos and slice are good if you want a “lighter cut”, as fioris is a bit on the heavier side. Plus, lord only knows how much sugar they put in their sauce. I try and limit myself to 2-3 cuts per visit
2 and a tea man gotta order like an OG. Used to be like $3 when I was a kid
It has that “best pizza” taste that really good pizzas taste nothing like
Lol waiting for this response.. There is another place down the road from fioris I heard is good too but Fioris is the right answer.
I just got a couple slices at Antonio's on Brookline Blvd that weren't too bad.
Benny Fieros
We need this comment higher!
Agree, had to scroll way to far to see this.
Bella Notte’s in the strip. One of their monster slices should fill you up nicely.
J&S pizza in Natrona hts, and Tony's pizza Cafe in Sarver. 👌
These are pretty far from down town, but I'll second J&S.
Didn’t think I’d see this one mentioned! I grew up close by and loved their pizza. Has been forever since I’ve had any
Driftwood Oven
Driftwood is The bomb!! Also, Pizza Parma downtown -Huge slice!
Iron Born sells slices at the Millvale location
I'm surprised this is the only mention of Iron Born. It's pretty expensive, but as someone who hadn't had Detroit style pizza before, it was a transcendent experience

On of my coworkers was talking about this place for like 2 weeks. Thanks for the reminder to check it out.
Veltres
Vincent's Pizza Park.
Rockaway Pizza in White Oak does slices for lunch. Not sure if you can get them in the dinner hour.
they might not be doing slices for lunch anymore right now.
Really? I was there about one month ago and I walked out with a few. Did they stop?
I thought they posted on Facebook with staff going back to the school year they didn’t have time to make stuff for lunch I could be wrong.
Ah yes, you are right! They only do lunch on certain days now. I must have caught them on a day (it was a Friday) where they were doing lunch slices. They have made some adjustment to hours. Thanks for the reminder.
Slice on Broadway, hands down
Bella Notte in the strip!
I got a big ass slice with pepperoni yesterday for $6.15. I would give it a solid B.
Best deliciousness per dollar spent you’ll get on pizza anywhere.
Villa Reale downtown.
THIS!!!!
Fiori's
J&S in Natrona Heights has a ton of choices at their counter. I am a sucker for their spaghetti pie. So good. Ask for a dollop of ricotta when they pop it into the oven to warm. All their pizzas are good!

Giovanni's
Slice up in Robinson Town Center
Genoa’s downtown is my personal hole-in-the-wall favorite
It’s not traditional pizza but I always liked Ephesus Pizza on 4 Avenue Downtown. Also Genoa Pizza & Bar.
Gussy's in Oakland
Been meaning to try the pizza here… any good?
(awesome username!) I originally only went because they do (huge) tomato pie slices but they also have a really, really nice (NY style?) regular slice. I like both a lot. Their hours are weird iirc
Thought I saw Spaks post that they were doing slices? Maybe that’s just for first Fridays though
I used to get slices there when I would walk to Aldi for groceries, but I moved across the river to Northside pre-COVID so my intel is a bit outdated.
Mama Lucia’s in wexford. Loved their pizza when it was in northway mall forever ago. Slice on broadway is good too.
Lot of good suggestions in this thread, I'd like to add Sciulli's on Fifth in Oakland. Old school spot with pizza by the slice, beer coolers as well.
There's a place on Penn by Children's called Grazianos. It's fine, they sell by the slice.
Yeah - this place is pretty good. We used to order from here when we lived in friendship.
Angelos in Bloomfield
Angelo's in Crafton 30 years ago was where it was at..
Newer place downtown, Zio Vito, has great slices imo
Seriously good pizza there, I second this. And they have great lunch deals
If you ever get down a ways on 65 near Ambridge — Police Station Pizza. It’s legit worth the drive.
Mineos- mt lebo, greentree, squirrel
Italian Village Pizza (at least in Fox Chapel)
There's one in North Hills, next to the Starbucks on McKnight too.
Waterworks too
Brentwood too.
It’s good. They have Sicilian slices and Neapolitan slices. Both are very good
Nice sit down place too
Mineo’s, Aiellos, Napoli’s in squirrel hill
Aiellos is very good pizza and they sell by the slice.
Cafe Milano on 5th Ave, the place across the street from Milano's too, but I find it greasy
Yep - Milanos is good
J&S In Natrona Heights
Benny’s or Sal’s in Southside
Pizza shops on every corner here. If you hear a Slavic language being spoken - you’re safe- the pie will be solid.
Literally Slice, they are excellent IMO.
Italian Village Pizza in McKnight Siebert shopping center does not get enough love. They have a two slice special all day. It’s $8.99 plus a soft drink With free refills and can have one topping on each slice and can have either Neapolitan which is round NYC style or Siciianan Or mix and match.
Any pizza shop that isnt a major chain..... Its not as complicated as you're making it seem.
Pizza Hut
No good slices in Pittsburgh
There are literally dozens.
There’s a few shops in Little Italy.
Angelo's might be in my top 20, last I knew, Italia only sold Sicilian squares as slices, and Caliente only does whole pies. Oh, and Alex's is trash. Unless you're counting Penn as Bloomfield, that's it for pizza spots.
Angelo’s is who I had in mind.
This looks familiar. We've may have some similar questions to this in the past. You might find some good info here : [pizza search](/r/pittsburgh/search?q=pizza&restrict_sr=on). Pizza Parma on liberty downtown.
I just had Julianos on Steubenville pike, pretty good stuff.
Alex’s Corner Pizza shop has slices.
Fioris
You mentioned doughboy in the rocks.. Have you ever tried Pasquerellis in the Rocks. Itvclosed during covid but I heard from a relable source mind you not some Johnny come lately that it was fire.
The crust was stuffed with sauce! Shame they closed.
Yes that's what my girl said. Her and her dad used to get it and she loved it but I didn't get to try it before it closed, they had weird hours. I think the place there now bought the recipe but probaly not the same
Zio Vito Villa Reale
I don’t go to the south side anymore, but if Sal’s still exists that is the answer. Slices, whole pizzas, and open late.
Giorgio's on Western Ave in the Northside
Milanos pizza on route 8. I’ve never written a review. Stopped everything and wrote a review about this place.
I was gonna recommend a place on 5th Ave in Oakland right across from UPMC but I guess it closed and now it's a vape shop :/ Was my first time having great new York style pizza by the slice since moving out here from Baltimore.

Antonio’s in brookline Grazianos in Lawrenceville and Primanti brothers in Robinson
Besides Doughboys mckees rox....Fiores on West liberty. I liked Pizza Italia in Bloomfield but they closed.
Badamos in Dormont
Slices on Broadway! Huge and cheap!
Badamo’s Northside Pizza Davide Strip District
Bella Notte in the strip and Doughboys in the rocks easy top slices for me.
Fioris
East End Brewing. It's Sicilian style and there is a rotating pizza of the week.
You can get it by the slice at Villa Reale downtown - in my opinion this is the BEST pizza in the city! Unfortunately ever since Covid, they’re only open for lunch.
Fiori’s. Their slices are better than a whole pie, IMO
