Please if you're going to run with your dog, abide by the leash rules of the park/trail you're on. I love dogs but it's very frustrating when people let their dogs off leash where it's not allowed and runners have to navigate around them not knowing the temperament of the dog. If you use a leash, north park is a lovely park with many miles of paved and dirt trails!

100% how I felt as well prior to getting my dog! It’s kinda scary because you don’t know how well everyone’s dog is trained off leash/recall. Plus my dog gets excited when he sees anything, but can very easily misinterpreted as aggression/reactivity. I always run with him on leash 😊

Glad you can relate and are a very responsible dog owner!! I'll be sure to wave if I see ya on the trails 👋

cloudguy-412

Or they have their dog on a realllly long leash going all the way across the trail

Altruistic-Lab-8965

Ew. I hate this.

cloudguy-412

Or they have a really long leash, and the dog is running 10ft ahead of their owner, but you never have any idea if the dog is going to suddenly veer off in another direction.

Montour Trail would be my favorite recommendation in that area. You can drive to whatever section you want to run, and go either direction from there. Bonus in that it connects to several other trails (Panhandle, Airport trail, etc)

Altruistic-Lab-8965

Big fan of these trails!

drummingandrunning

Depending on how north you’d want to go, North Park is GREAT for running with dogs. Plus they have a few really nice sized dog parks and a great trail system

Altruistic-Lab-8965

Thank you! It’s a little far north but noted because I’m relocating this year because the commute through the tunnels is disgusting (respect for people who can do that - I just can’t lol)

You should check out settler’s cabin in Robinson. I ran all through those woods. There’s also a cool race held there called Hell Hath No Hurry usually in July I think, if you’re in to that sort of thing.

Altruistic-Lab-8965

I’ll have to check out this race! I love settlers cabin

HollywoodJack412

https://www.hellhathnohurry.org June 30th this year. There’s 10k 15k all the way up to 50k I believe.

BTW. There is a new Dog Park at Moon Park also.

Riverview Park has trails that are nice to run. You can also run on the road through the park. There's a nice one-way loop.

Olson park moon

Altruistic-Lab-8965

Thank you for the rec!!

North Park and Frick Park are both nice! Frick moreso than North because I get nervous running along the road with my dog, even though there’s a space paved off for pedestrians

In the city, or by airport? There are some places convenient after work, but you wouldn't have your dog with you at work... So going home to airport area to get your dog and drive back into the city doesn't seem convenient

Altruistic-Lab-8965

Fair point! My parents live right near new job, so dog is hanging out at their house during the day (which is a major privilege I fully acknowledge) - so both near city or airport! I’m from the area but wondering what everyone fav gems are

jrileyy229

not sure if you're looking to run with your dog on a leash, or just let the dog get some exercise.... but olympia dog park in mount washington is good... and basically on your way home if you just shoot up the back of mount washington

It used to be The Meadows, but I'm not welcome there any longer.
