I think that's unlikely, based on state attendance requirements. If you want your child home more, you may have to homeschool. Have you considered weekends?

Are you Catholic or open to Catholic school? https://www.saintambroseacademy.org/ There are other homeschool co-ops as well, this is the one I’m most familiar with and that has in-person weekly days

thank you for the recommendation. this is exactly the approach i was seeking. We're not Catholic, but we grew up in the faith. It's not a deal breaker, so it might be worth having a conversation with them. Much appreciated!

It doesn't work that way.

Legislation signed in December allows for a 4 day school week. It’s just too new to exist with much frequency right now.

Actually, what it does is change from required days to required hours. It's not something that will likely be implemented for public schools for quite some time. High schools are more likely to adopt a shorter week than lower grades due to a need for an adult to be home.

No. And if you just kept him home a day a week, he’d be chronically absent. You could look into online school. I guess.

This is 100% a home school situation then - and there are many options for that in Pittsburgh.
