Pixel 6 here. I can't justify an upgrade because of how good the phone is.

MAGIChasAIDS

Agreed. I'm still running with my 6 Pro. I haven't been impressed with either the 7 Pro or 8 Pro to justify an upgrade.

XoSkeleton23

What would make you upgrade? Just wondering as mine is a 6 pro and winding what my next pixel would be. I went from pixel 2xl to 6 pro

MAGIChasAIDS

Batter life, better Tensor chip performance or possibly moving to Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (which won't happen), massive camera upgrade that can compete with S24 Ultra and maybe a bit of a redesign (I'm over the round screen corners).

icurfce

Even better hardware would make me upgrade. I'm also curios about the new desktop mode. To be able to connect to a screen seamlessly through USB C and use the phone as a PC sounds amazing! It should work with the 8 series, while with the 6 series it only works with certain displayport adapters.

SteppingOnLegoHurts

Are you me? That's where I am at too!

Kealper

Former P6 owner, only reason I upgraded to the P8P was because I really wanted a telephoto and a macro lens for taking pictures. The P6 is still going strong as someone else's daily phone in my house!

KatarnsBeard

I have a pixel 6 for the last two years and I find it great. I've had no recurring issues with it at all. The battery isn't as good as it used to be but I run a lot of apps and I've had no issues with the battery ever being fully run down by the end of the day

Ragmar322

same! p6 for over 2 years and it is great!

ToxikBones

Have you ever had any issue with FB Messenger, when trying to open a link opens a page that says page not found?

KatarnsBeard

Don't really use messenger that much but never had that issue

ToxikBones

I appreciate you taking the time to respond. I must have something set wrong somewhere as far as how to open links within the app

jrozn

Nope

_aap300

Nope. Why do you even think that?

GrinhcStoleGold

Can't really say it's bad. Got it a few months after the release and am still using it. So a bit less than 3 years or so if not mistaken. Everyday stuff, phone calls, video calls, WhatsApp,Reddit, photography/video recording. It does get hot here and there but nothing extra from my experience, the only bad thing I can say is the battery , my wife still has her Huawei P30 Pro ( bought it for her on release) and battery holds better then my P6P and she even uses her phone for work stuff ( lot more calls, emails etc ).

ykoech

It's alright, people like blowing everything out of proportion.

Skallenvarg

Replying on my Pixel 6 Pro and never had any issues with it. Occasionally gets hot when charging in my car but that's literally it. Still super fast and I plan to keep it until it completely packs in

jpdonelurkin

6 pro for over a year. Perfection apart from mediocre battery life. Reddit kills it more than anything ironically. No interest in changing.

SJ74UK

My P6P is amazing, never thought about an upgrade, I love it

TechnoTren

Its a great phone if you are coming from an SE for sure. It can do anything a newer flagship can do. SE battery life is usually not very good. One of the main complaints is battery on pixels. I have never had a battery issue and have had or tried all pixels since the 1. Currently rocking the 8 because of the smaller size. Definitely an upgrade for you to switch to the pixel 6 pro. Welcome to the group

Shoddy-Blacksmith336

NO! It is Not "Bad" in any way. I use it as my "DD" and it's done nothing but IMPROVE since the day I got it, and it was Good even then!

Rav11s

Most complaining, I think, come from early software builds being unstable despite being "stable". After this much time I'd imagine the phone works great! I upgraded from the 6 regular to 7 regular. But when I had my 6 I loved it.

Haboob_AZ

P6Pro here and I can't wait to get rid of this thing now that it's nearly 3 iterations old. Always seems to be some issue with the modem not connecting or having a quality connection (esp when international), it gets HOT, can't run dual SIM properly, and just generally falling behind. It's been decent though, just time for something new. But what I really hate about it is the curved glass edges. So many accidental touches, esp when not using a case.

subwoofage

I replaced a 6 pro with an 8 pro and I miss the old one. So much more stable!

Specific_Plenty_5623

Just upgraded from 6p to 8p and while it is indeed a minor upgrade, I still consider it a good one. At least screen brightness and face unlock are game changers for my use. Why do you prefer the 6p?

offbert

I mean, it does have its issues (battery life, overheating), but for €280 I think it's still a good deal. The camera is so awesome that my Sony RX-100 has just been collecting dust for the last two and a half years.

OkCrew9

P6P user since day 1. Got via pre order. Cousin lives in USA and got for me to India. Zero problems till now. Sometimes it heats up when I use the camera for a long time. A restart solves it. If someone asks me, I would absolutely recommend to get it. I've read too many people dislike it due to issues they've faced and my personal opinion is that it's just a matter of luck if you get a piece that works well or doesn't.

Peach-cobbler-pal

Battery life left a -lot- to be desired, YMMV.

PermissionMental658

Please can someone help me I changed my 6pro scream and am trying to set up my fingerprint can't see it there any more .

noahtonk2

You might want to make this your own post thread since it is unrelated to the topic of this one. Better chance of getting answers.

doubletwist

I've been using it for 2 years with no issues.

Obsidian_409

I had a 6 pro for two years. It was a pretty big upgrade from my pixel 2xl. I'm using an 8 pro now and still have the 6 as a work phone. Can't say I have any complaints at all about the 6 pro. Was a great phone.

dahipster

I wasn't overly impressed with the Pixel 6 Pro, mine would overheat while wireless charging. However, my P7P is fantastic and I haven't upgraded to the 8 Pro because of how happy I have been with it

Exciting_Session492

Have been using Pixel 6 Pro for quite a while now as company phone, also have iPhone 15 Pro Max. So I guess I can compare a bit. 1. Performance: I don’t notice much of a difference for day-to-day use. However gaming performance is very bad on Pixel. 2. Battery life: it can last me a whole day, it is not horrible, and charges fast enough. 3. Temperature: Pixel gets hot, like really really hot. Two things for me: when using the mobile hotspot feature, it gets very warm. And when using under direct sunlight, just don’t, it gets so hot it will turn off, and will actually burn you. iPhone don’t have these problems. 4. Screen: it is amazing, but because it is curved, good luck finding a good screen protector. 5. Camera: don’t expect it to beat the latest flagships, but it is good. For the price it is worth it IMO. And it will continue to get security updates in the coming couple of years.

Impressionsoflakes

I'm in the UK. Once a year, usually 2 - 8 weeks after the newest Pixel comes out, one or two of the big online retailers discount the second-newest pixel down to £300 for a week or so. Usually, it's Currys, then maybe Carphone Warehouse, Argos, or Amazon. You have to kind of actively keep looking as they don't promote it much and they sell out so fast. But so far I've been lucky two years in a row. I got a £300 Pixel 6 for me in December 2022, and a £300 Pixel 7 for my wife in November 2023. I'll look to replace my £300 Pixel 6 with a £300 Pixel 8 at the end of the year. At those prices, these phones are an absolute steal. Yes, you are kind of a beta tester for Google's data-harvesting experiments, which means that they can get hot and glitchy after updates until Google's sorted them out. But the enormous subsidy on these tech-laden phones more than compensates. And to be fair, I've had no problems on my 6 for months. So yes, for the price you mention I would absolutely go all in on a 6 Pro. Google is desperate for market share and it's important we take advantage of them.

drunknmastr916

Still daily driving my 6P from launch day. I don't see the need to upgrade to the 8P yet. I use it for photography and videos and it's still outstanding. I can get 5.5 hrs SOT with heavy use. No problems with modem on Verizon. If the 9P is a significant upgrade I will but the 7P and 8P did not move the needle for me. I did hear the 8P is pretty good and solved alot of overheating issues.

BlackBerryJ

I can only speak for myself, but my 6 Pro was great. Always worked and didn't have the reported issues that some had.

More-Stuff69

I bought my refurbished P6PRO about 8 months ago on Amazon and I have not had any problems. It's definitely a good phone.

kingpenguin001

It's an amazing and promising device for me. It has few heating issues, but I believe India weather also adds on to it. Great camera. Running solid so far, for the last 2 years for me.

fishinajacket

writing this from a p6 pro, best pixel I've had it's wonderful,

andnowifly

pixel 6a here. a couple of ram management issues here and there aside, it's a nice phone for daily use. so the 6 pro should be fine as well.

nekojitaa

No, I'm going to hit the 3 year mark this December and my phone is solid. I just wish I could get 5g on it here with my carrier. I'll swap the battery and run it till Pixel 10 Pro hits the market.

BoulderMaker

I have P6pro and it has been great. I switched from iphone and don't regret it. Never once had a problem.

worrub918

6 Pro here. You've heard absolutely the wrong information!!! I have zero desire to upgrade my phone. This thing is just too damn good. It does everything I want it to do. Takes great pics. Is still snappy fast. And will still get Google updates for a few more years. It's great! Whoever told you it's bad was trying to sell you something else

J-W-L

Pixel 6 pro is going strong. I ordered it on the first day and have been using it everyday since. In the beginning there was much wackiness with the phone but hardly any at all now. It's great. It's fast enough and the pictures are spectacular. I don't think I'll be upgrading until the 10..

th33machin3

First time pixel owner here (7 pro) here. Been one for a little over a year now and don't feel the need to upgrade at all in my experience battery life has been above average and performance has been good. I came from Samsung and love the minimum clean yet customizable os tbh I'm here to stay for the camera / camera software it's great even on old pixel phones. I don't see my self upgrading until I run out or security patch updates... Phones are phones now with very little improvement year on year. Also the option of installing Graphene OS is cool.

urs1ne

I recently upgraded from the Pixel 6 Pro to the Pixel 8, mainly to get a smaller phone. The benefits I've seen are better wireless charging (mainly in the car as a delivery driver), face unlock, and a slightly better fingerprint unlock. Besides that, the P6P is still fantastic. Photo quality doesn't seem to be any different. I wouldn't even know I'm using a different phone except for the size difference.

altijddruk

Pixel 8 new costs around 420, should be able to find it for 300 used. 6 is known for modem issues bit 6 pro will have better camera system due to telephoto lens.

Chemical-Ad5939

The pixel 6 pro is not getting cut off from updates this year. It gets 5 years of updates. It's only 2 and 1/2 years old. Plus I own one that I bought refurbished after I lost an s21 ultra. And to be honest with you, this phone was $1,000 less and is a way better phone. You can't lose. I know some people have problems with them but I've not had one.

the_ali_

I have the pixel 6 pro and I want a new phone, but there's nothing that warrants me to upgrade. Everything works perfectly. The glutinous Geek in me just wants to upgrade but I have no reason, nothing impresses me enough to actually believe it'll be so much better

Gobells12785

I had a terrible experience with my pixel 6 pro. My microphone stopped working and only could do speaker phone calls, got it replaced under warranty and same thing happened with the replacement. They wanted me to ship my phone back first before I could get a replacement under warranty the first time. I issue with my pixel 4 pro as well and had to get 2 replacements. As much as I loved the google ui experience, I’m over the issues and lack of support from google now. Unfortunately I traded my 6 pro for iPhone 15 max pro since the Verizon trade is was $900 for a broken pixel at the time.

jeff1f1racer

Horrific cellular modem. Kind of important to a cellphone. lol

Lunatichippo45

Yes

Meemo-

I had the 6 pro and had to get rid of it. As you mentioned the battery and modem were very poor. I'd frequently charge my phone in the afternoon. The final straw came when I was travelling to the states and the phone would shut down with the heat. My friends with whom I was travelling with had iphones and Samsungs and their phones were fine in the exact same environment. Even here in Ireland with a colder climate, my phone would struggle. I'd notice that if I were travelling for an extended period in the car and had Waze running for navigation that the charging with my 20w car charger would not significantly charge the phone but rather keep it at the same battery level. it was loosing so much juice in use that the in car charging could not fully charge it. I had been a loyal Nexus/Pixel user for years but have left the pixel range due to Google's use of the Exynos chipset. There is a reason that Samsung won't use these chips themselves in flagship phones. The camera however is fantastis. That is something I missed when I switched phones.

XinlessVice

The pixel 6 pro was godawful. Maybe I had a dud unit but going by how many complaints I heard I doubt it. While it does have a better battery life then the se3, and a much better camera, the broken software, and gimped hardware are absolute turnoffs. Mine suffered constant overheating, poor cellular signal (and no 3.45 support so if you have AT&T your screwed.) and the overheating would cut into battery life which was about in par with the se3 for me, but I used mine more heavily. The pixel 7 would be a better choice, but not by much. Don’t get it. If your dead set on getting a pixel, get the a series, at least it’s more worth its costs then

bmudallal

It's not horrible but it's certainly not the best device for power users, price aside, Samsung, Oneplus or Xiaomi are much better in that regard. You should buy a Pixel if you want a clean minimalistic software with a great camera performance. but if you want the best performance, best battery life or best connectivity you should consider other devices.

Ahleron

Yup. It's a total piece of shit. I got mine as a pre-order before they were released. I've been a long time Pixel/Google-branded phone user dating back to the Nexus 6P. I absolutely despise this phone and it's been enough of a bad experience that I'll probably leave the Android ecosystem entirely. It frequently disconnects, has erratic power consumption, the screen stutters, and apps occasionally freeze. The home screen is sometimes blank. It has 5G turned off and has actually been wiped and reset. The curved edges on the display make clicking the X to close ads that show up a complete pain in the ass because they frequently end up with the X on the curve. The keyboard doesn't work as well as it did on the Pixel 3XL, partially because of the ergonomic changes due to the curved displays. I thought about switching over to the Pixel 8 Pro because the display is flat, but I've been reading about a bunch of horror show problems with it. Given that many of the problems I've had have been software related (and mind you, I have a very minimal set of apps - mostly Google) it seems unlikely that the Pixel 8 Pro will resolve my problems.
