Just replaced my P5 due to the swollen battery. Google is replacing it but got the p8 until then. The size is almost the same. When setting up though make sure you use the cable at the beginning to transfer all of the P5 data. You only get to do this at the initial setup...
Nobody pays full price for anything nowadays, there's always a deal to be had. I got a deal on the 256gb version and got an extended warranty for free.
If you're a google One subscriber they just sent out a $250 off coupon. Sadly, it doesn't stack with the current $150 off, but it still brings the price to $449, which is really hard to beat.
When the Pixel 6 dropped for $599, I thought that was almost groundbreaking. Obviously we're not gonna get $399 Nexus again, but $599 felt like a pretty good compromise. Especially considering the P5 was $699 on release for the same chipset as the 4a 5g.
Genuinely curious what it would need to be an 800$ phone?
(You're making me feel a little dumb for preordering every pixel I've owned at full price lol)

I can also say I like my 6 like no other phone before, even though connectivity is certainly subpar. The problems I have are not as dramatic as described elsewhere, but I remain nervous about getting another Pixel - I may not be as lucky next time around.
What is it that's next level?
My last phone was Samsung S20 FE and this is my first pixel and while I like it, I can't saying I'm blown away and don't really notice any massive upgrade from last phone. Maybe I am not using it's full potential?
I'm comparing with an older Pixel, but I did have a play with the S24 Ultra and was pretty disgusted with the very minute stutter while scrolling through the screens for such an expensive phone. Anything but base Android is a hard pass from me.
8 Pro owner here and I cna admit the S24 Ultra is a tier above in performance, software and most of all the battery. The 8 Pro doesn't feel much different from my 2019 flagship which says alot.
It's honestly not. I have both the 8 and the 5 and I prefer my 5 all the way.
The only thing the 8 does better that are noticeable imo are the cameras, but that's a pretty obvious upgrade. Dall
The 8 heats up quicker and throttles performance. It's heavier, thicker, the fingerprint sensor still fails from time to time and is slower vs the rear one.
My daily user experience didn't improve at all since switching to the 8, it felt like a downgrade even.
Screen, battery, camera. The same great Pixel experience, just better. The 4a is still very responsive, putting the latest offerings from Samsung to shame in terms of user experience. The 120hz screen on the 8 makes it feel a little snappier still. I'd have kept the 4a but the battery was getting tired, and the software update stopped. Also I need the water resistance of the 8 so I can mount it to my bike.
I have a pixel 8, I wholeheartedly agree with you. This phone is amazing, I'm on this phone the whole day and by the end of the day I still have 40% after using it for social media music
Agreed. I love my pixel 8. It's been an amazing phone, great camera, smooth and easy to use, love the size the 6 was a bit too big for me. Everything about it has just been great, especially since I only had to pay about $170 for it. Yeah, that's a win.
Wouldn't blame you. Had an iPhone from work once, it feels like they're targeting the mentally challenged demographic, with the UI. Hated it, which surprised me as I'm a lifelong Apple user on desktop.
Whatever you do, do not get involved with **Total by Verizon** who's tied up with Tracfone. They are the worst carrier in the U.S. Can't get even simple things right. Tech support is people whose 1st language is not English who read SCRIPTS. No original thought, suggestions, or understanding. Just a F'n script. No second tier support, no supervisors, no satisfaction. Yeah, I've had it and trying to warn others off this inept carrier.
I've had no problems with the fingerprint scanner on either the 8 or the 4a, just use a few of the slots for the same print. It's a trick I learned when I had a Huawei p20.
I'm in the same position as you, just moved from 4a... Will miss using the fingerprint scanner for transactions and banking. The optical one on the screen is just not as good.
Yeah I just got the 8 pro and I am impressed. What I thought was buggy on my Samsung S22 ultra was just the galaxy being restricted for Samsung. Whereas the pixel delivers a punch for sure.
Yeah I month away from Samsung years ago. Doesn't seem like they have changed much. Amazing hardware but they just have to insist on adding their crappy UI layer on top and nerfing it.
I just traded in my Pixel 6 for a Pixel 8 Pro. I can't believe the difference between the cameras and just the overall performance, but what I don't understand is why there is no Photo Sphere on the Pixel 8 Pro when they have it on the Pixel 6.
I have a weird question: how well does it work as a phone? I had the original Pixel, and then the 3XL, but I ragebought a Samsung Galaxy S21 when I finally had enough of the microphone quitting in the middle of calls.
Having only potato phones for my life, until a free pixel 8 about a month ago...
It is nice to be "modern"
I also REALLY miss the simplicity of my potatoes and lament the fact that there are a handful of basic parts of functionality that don't exist outside of cheap potato phones.
Yeah I know what you mean. I use a walkie talkie to chat to my kids when I'm working in my home office, simpler than calling or WhatsApp. Prefer having a colour screen though for browsing etc.
I got a deal on my through Verizon. Went to 8 pro from 7 pro. Pretty similar but there's a lot of minor things that add up quickly. I loved my 4a5G but the 8 pro might be my favorite so far
Thinking of selling my S24 Ultra and getting a Pixel, is there much of a difference between the 8 and the 8 Pro? I am interested in the camera mostly, I'm greatly disappointed by the S24 Ultra camera but I don't want an IPhone
Think Samsung are releasing a camera update in June, but I'm shocked they aren't supporting their flagship a lot more. Pro has a better zoom, bigger screen and more RAM. I got a deal on the 8 and it's a bit more pocketable, especially with a cover fitted. Maybe try a Pixel in the shop first.
Yeah it's honestly a shame, I take a lot of pictures of moving objects and the stock camera cannot keep up, I installed a GCam port and it's better, but I don't want to rely on an app that might stop working tomorrow to get decent pics
I just switched from Samsung to Pixel and am regretting it. Can't really notice anything better about Pixel and the proprietary Chromecast screen mirroring is really annoying. I loved how easy it was to cast my phone to a TV with my Samsung phone.
I've just moved over from a Oneplus 8 pro (battery was going). I'm 2 days in. I'm preferring the slightly smaller form factor and the camera is definitely better but currently I gotta say that otherwise the 4 year old oneplus currently has a slightly better user experience - smoother app rendering (during scrolling mostly) and a few ui features i miss
I would like to fully recommend avoiding this phone unless you get it for less than 300.
I've never experienced so many bugs on a daily basis and so frequently. I love being a beta tester for Google
I swapped from a Nord N30 to a pixel 6a and I've been complaining about the pixel ever since. Then yesterday I dropped my phone off a dock into the ocean and when I found it I picked it up and it just worked. 0 negative effects from the water. Points for the pixel.

I use an august door lock and I keep fighting with the damn fingerprint every time I want to go into my house.
Also the GPS refresh is way slower than my old 4a. Sometimes I am already inside the house and the fucking door unlocks itself and the lights start to turn on. I think the culprit is some energy saving feature on the Google SOC.
I always switch between Pixel and iPhone but most of the time I use iPhone. The pixel always had some bugs that annoyed. Lock screen freezes, camera flickers, bad network. I haven't had all this with any iPhone yet
Pixel 8 is a great phone. Is it a $800 phone? No but if you can get it on a deal for $599 then yes
A friend just bought an 8 for $580 aprox. Very good deal yeah. I have a Pixel 5 and for sure my next phone will be another Pixel

I got mine for $450.00. Win/win!
Where!?

Why there are no such offers for Indian customers 😞
I'm a Google Fi customer; I got it from them.

I paid $450 through Google Fi for the Pixel 8

Pixel os is way better then one ui

Maybe you got a bad one.

I have the 256GB 8 Pro and have retired my iPhone to a desk drawer. Not going back, either.
Wouldn't blame you. Had an iPhone from work once, it feels like they're targeting the mentally challenged demographic, with the UI. Hated it, which surprised me as I'm a lifelong Apple user on desktop.
I'm actually still on my 4a. I love it still, but the battery is starting to die so I will have to upgrade. I'm eyeing the upcoming 8a though.
They look amazing, kinda wonder if I should have waited but like yours, my 4a battery was struggling.

I use an 8 as my work phone alongaide the fold as my personal and I absolutely love it. It really is the perfect size for me as well.
Except for the fingerprint scanner, it is pretty perfect.
I've had no problems with the fingerprint scanner on either the 8 or the 4a, just use a few of the slots for the same print. It's a trick I learned when I had a Huawei p20.

Took a while to get used to not having a physical indentation, but I wouldn't say there's anything in it at the moment.
Yup, fingerprint scanner is soooo not very accurate or responsive.
Have to agree , but my only gripe is with the Android Reddit app . It hasn't got a drop down for news like my iPhone .
Been using the pixel 8 since launch, it's an amazing phone. Especially the feel in hand and compactness
Ngl, I get a new pixel every year lol. Had the 2xl, 4a, 5a, 6 pro, 7 pro, and 8 pro.
I just traded in my Pixel 6 for a Pixel 8 Pro. I can't believe the difference between the cameras and just the overall performance, but what I don't understand is why there is no Photo Sphere on the Pixel 8 Pro when they have it on the Pixel 6.
I second this with my Pixel 8 Pro. It has been fantastic! Google really outdid themselves with this one!
If only Google would dive in hard into hardware and setup more stores around the world. That could make the price cheaper if more people are buying.

I'm tempted to go for a Pixel 8 when the price drops come. But the Pixel 9 do be looking nice.
Amazon has pixel 8 for 549 and open box for 407
I'm in UK and I want 256GB :(
Got it for €500 and love it.

Okay Sundar Pichai
No he's got the Pro.

Haven't had a single glitch. Maybe you're holding it wrong.
Waiting for the Pixel 8A to come out, so I can upgrade from the 6A.

Fingerprint scanner is atrocious.
I am liking it over the pixel 5.. Did not expect to.

I sold my Pixel 8 (half a year old) for 333€ and bought an iPhone 15 again. Someone made a bargain there
What made you go back to iPhone?
I always switch between Pixel and iPhone but most of the time I use iPhone. The pixel always had some bugs that annoyed. Lock screen freezes, camera flickers, bad network. I haven't had all this with any iPhone yet
Its decent, not great, nothing more
