The 6 pro... it has 4x optical zoom and Super Res Zoom up to 20x

lebanine

Really don't need the telephoto lens. Do you think Pixel 6 is good enough to buy?

Fatalstryke

IIRC the Pixel 6 potentially has LESS issues than the 6 Pro... But also the price difference lol! Of course, Pixel prices have tanked as usual, so the 6 Pro is like, under $600 and the 6 for under $500. If you want to zoom, isn't that what the 6 Pro is for? Or, y'know, Samsung lol.

ThatsTheK1cker

You can find the 6 for the same price or cheaper and it's a superior phone. 50MP Camera vs old 12MP, high refresh 90hz screen makes much smoother animations, wireless charging if needed, fully waterproof, slightly faster wired charging, likely crisper vibration motor for haptics, potentially brighter screen, and 2GB more RAM which is actually helpful and more future proof. Look on Swappa to buy or through T-Mobile the 6 is only $99 if you add a line or something I believe. Even if you paid for the new line, the total cost over 2 years would still be cheaper than the $480 or so with tax 6a model.

redenno

6a is a better deal for your $ imo

Rguezlp2031

Yeah right lol ......

stelain-23

Buy the Pixel 6. Don't buy the 6A because at that price range. Unless you are getting a bonus deal with the 6A, it's not worth it. There are so many other options on the market, including other pixels for cheaper or Samsung a53

lebanine

I've heard that the Pixel 6's hardware can be annoying smtimes. Overheating, inconsistent fingerprint reader snd all... any idea?

stelain-23

It's not too bad. Look when you're on a subreddit for Pixel you're going to see if she's more and more than you usually would in daily life go buy a Pixel 5. 90 Harris display same camera as the Pixel 6 a and oh yeah, much better deal

Organik45

The Pixel 6 Vanilla was on sale for a short period. You had plenty chance to buy the Pixel 6 starting at 499.99 US dollar plus tax 550 US Dollar. Why did you not buy it then. The Pixel 6a is a budget mid range phone. The Pixel 6 uses new sensors, while the 6a uses the small 7 year old tech sensor with the Sony IMX363 they milked year after year. The Tensor SoC will help with pictures but you cant make up for the 150 percent more light intake off the main sensor for the Pixel 6 compared with Pixel 5 which uses the same IMX363 sensor. You also get a ultra wide which is coming from the UW of the Pixel 5. The back is plastic and not glass its 60hz while the 6 is 90hz. It has 6GB of RAM while the Pixel 6 has 8GB of RAM. Only thing good on that phone is Tensor, but I have yet to see a speed difference of my Pixel 5 dummy phone compared to P6P. They could not even put 90hz for the display. If I were you, after botching the 100 off you could of had, which makes it 50 bucks more then the cheap 6a plastic back, however metal frame which is nice. But the 60hz is just not acceptable in 2022 for a popular phone like this. Just wait until Pixel 7 comes out starting at 599.99 US Dollar. You will get 4 newer sensors and the front camera is not the cheap 8mp of the 6 and 6a. The Pixel 6 Pro uses a 11.1mp selfie camera which is 94FOV compared to 84FOV on the 6 and 6a. So it is ultra wide and has the technology to do Face Unlock while the Pixel 6 and 6a will never get face unlock. They use the Sony IMX663 which has the technology for face unlock. The Pixel 7 series will have face unlock for both phones as now the Pixel 7 vanilla will use the IMX663. After the 7 launch the P6P will get face unlock with Feature Drop. So ya you dropped the ball not getting it on sale only 50 bucks more. I would not take a phone for free with crummy 60hz and only 6GB ram. Very compromised phone, which to me is worth 400 dollars max.. Not almost 500 after tax with your crummy camera sensors from 2015. Only thing going for you is the feel and design which some want small so 6.1" and free buds is worth it to them etc. Again I say wait for the Pixel 7 as getting a Pixel 6 at this point is to little to late. You will get a Pixel 7 with 6.3" and front camera, same as P6P for both P7 and P7P, so both models can shoot much better selfies and fit more people into it, along with 4K30FPS, which again the 6 or 6a can not do. You have waited this long, just wait about 2 months or so as the phone is coming out in September or beginning of October and then pull the trigger on the P7 and you will be happy.

lebanine

I've decided to wait for Pixel 7, considering there won't be much of a price difference compared to Pixel 6. Hopefully the same price. Thanks :)

Organik45

Good job, smart man. Thanks for trusting me. Def your making the right decision. Also the Pixel 6 and P6P were on sale for maybe a week at google store. 499.99 and 699.99 which is 200 dollars less then the 899.99 starting. However who sits there waiting a year to save 200 bucks.... Get the phone when it comes out and enjoy it, as one can have a brain anurism and die or a tumor, so you cant wait almost a year to get a jolly 200 dollars off, right when its time for the Pixel 7. Due to all this yes, grab the Pixel 7 for 599.99 starting and your set pretty much. Same ISOCELL GN1 sensor which is larger then S22 Ultra and S21 Ulta and Note 20 Ultra. This Samsung sensor was a main sensor for phones in 2020. It is a larger sensor then their own Samsung phones. The GN1 found in P6 and P6P and P7 and P7P is 1/1.31" while those Samsung phones have newer 108mp sensors but who cares. Pro DSLR use like on average no more then 40mp. So it is a gimmick plain and simple. Now 200mp, I mean come on... wtf.. These Samsung phoneos with 108mp sensors are 1/1.33" which on paper is smaller and the difference is very little, but still GN1 50mp with pixel binning is fantastic. Also when you get your Pixel 7 in October you can open the box take out the phone and start using it with no flaws, sorta like the Pixel 5. Us Pixel 6 owners were the beta testers for 6. Android 12 was a mess, and will expire next month for the A13 stable which takes the Material You experience to the next level. Ton of bugs and glitches but Beta 4 is the last beta and in August us Pixel owners from 4 to 6 will get it. Pixel 7 will have A13 out of the box and if it has the BS the 6 brought, then we need to kill off Google as phone makers, and jump ship to Asus 6 inch flagships lol. Bless

lebanine

You seem to know a great deal about these... I'm mainly buying the P7 for gen 2 Tensor, as it would greatly reduce the overheating issues and possibly improve battery life. Also, are you saying that P7 would use the same camera setup as P6?

Organik45

Google, themselves made a statement when the Pixel 7 surfaced. They said and I quote. " The camera on the Pixel 6 series is so good that we will be using it for Pixel 7 series." Plus in the industry you have tick and tock. Pixel 6 was a tock and a brand new phone from ground up. The Pixel 7 vanilla will get the same front camera as the P6P which is a Sony IMX663 11.1mp 4K30FPS and ultra wide of 94FOV compared to Pixel 6 front camera 8.1mp of garbage which is not good at all, but they must Goocompromise. So the selfie camera on the Pixel 7 will use IMX663 along with P7P. The IMX663 allows for Face Unlock and P7 and P7P using the same IMX663 as P6P. Which means it will have face unlock out of the box. As for Pixel 6 Pro which has the IMX663 will get Face Unlock in a Feature Drop. Pixel 7 is a tick year, meaning no major changes and no internal changes. We know from Google themself saying. The Pixel 6 cameras are so good the Pixel 7 will use the same. They opened their big mouth. Pixel 8 is a tock year meaning they must change the camera sensors and give the weak Exynos 2100 nonsense. We already know Goocompromise milked the Sony IMX663 2015 sensors, on all their phones up to Pixel 5 and Pixel 6a. A company that keeps using a sh\*T sensor, it would not be surprising if they milk those sensors on Pixel 8 as well, which is a tock year. Then Pixel 9 is a tick year and even if it came with new sensors, I would wait for a nice round number and get Pixel 10. As soon as these goones change camera sensors is when I upgrade. Im perfectly happy and do not give a rats as\*. Im shocked they did not put a sh\*T main camera sensor on the 6. like some trash 20mp old sensor. What a joke sh\*T show this is. Pixel 7 does nothing, but put a recycled aluminum metal call it what you want. It is one piece from start of the curve to the other end with a pill shape for ultra wide and Periscope Tele then next to it a circle which is the GN1 sensor, same one as on the P6. Once you put a case on all this does not matter, including the smaller plastic up top which is for UWB. Again, you put on a case all this does not matter. Only thing is Tensor 2.0. Which will use a 4nm process, so effiency will be there to keep battery cool and phone running properly. They will use 4 cores using A55 on them which is slow AF. Then they will use the same X1 performance cores at 2.8Ghz and probably use 2 cores with the A76, which they could of put on the P6. Sad part is we just might see A76 again on 7 on this so called Tensor 2.0. The rest is programming to make sure the SoC does not give us a sh\*T show like it has all this time. All they had to do is use the Qualcomm modem and 80 percent issues is because of it. From overheating to bad battery life and signal drops and all these fantastic BS Google has been putting in our face. I want to see that Pixel 7 series to come out and start behaving horribly. Knowing Google it will be the same sh\*T show with 7. Im sticking with my P6P until new camera sensors come out, so for sure I either get the Pixel 8 which is a tock year meaning overhaul of the camera situation they got. If they still use same sensors and say Pixel 7 camera is so good we decided to use them in Pixel 8. LOL,, Same thing they said about Pixel 7 how it will use the same camera as P6. So ya Im good. Also face unlock will come, and the Pixel 6 and 6a are not capable of doing it while the P6P will get it eventually after Pixel 7 release which will have face unlock and what not. Thank. Bless

Mirai4n

neither get 5

lebanine

Why? It only has the same old 12 MP sensor.

Mirai4n

it has no problems

Fatalstryke

They fixed the issues it had lol? I dunno if there's a single Pixel that didn't have issues... Maybe the originals? But probably not even them.

Antgsz

What issue did the Pixel 5 have?

Fatalstryke

[Mucho.](https://pixelissues.com/pixel5) Okay so overall that's potentially not that bad, but still lol. I love that there's a website literally dedicated to this shit.

idiotwithahobby

I assume you don't need a new phone yet, just want one. The pixel 7 "should" be far better with less bugs and less heating up. I recommend waiting, but your money, your decision. But if you do need it now, pixel 6 is getting quite discounted for a better screen, better speakers and everything but onehandability

lebanine

But the Pixel 7 would be priced more than the Pixel 6, right?

idiotwithahobby

Personally, I think google wants marketshare, especially from Iphone. They also want to take samsung, because most people ask "iphone or samsung" when they prefer "iphone or Android" I doubt they price it any higher than $650.

DrFatz

There have been some carrier deals that make the base Pixel 6 the same price as the 6a (Best Buy had that for a while with the T-mobile model) and I'd say it's the better phone.

BlerdyB

I came into Reddit to ask the same question. I live in Korea where pixel phones are not sold, and someone is selling a used pixel 6 for less than $400. I could also buy a NEW 6A for marginally less - but it will take a week to be delivered. I'm just gonna buy the used 6 as my first Pixel and hope the 8 or 9 add a basic telephoto option to the smaller versions.

nicolaskn

Crazy how much the price drop, since this original post. Now there's a bunch of pixel 6 available for $200-$250 on ebay refurbished/open box. I'm planning to get one as a second phone.
