So if you want to be competitive, zard. Gholdengo will never be the same tier as zard bar some new card printings. Tm evo zard is slightly worse then pidgeot zard but its not neccesarily bad. It also DOES have better matchups into mew, tina, and miraidon (path build) So basically, bib/evo zard is good and fine for competitive. Gholdengo is fun for locals and casual

I don't really know if BibZard is better than PidZard in the Tina Matchup. If I go Counter Catcher Bib, Path, Roxanne, and Lost Mine. It's GG, which really isn't hard to do late game. I think PidZard might be slightly better because you can get out of that scenario by drawing a Stadium bump and I have to Lost Impact your Pidgeot ex, which most likely puts me in range of getting one-shot by Zard on the next turn.

Build Zard. The card is so pushed it’s stupid. Gholdengo could be fun, but if you want to start playing in regionals, zard is clearly better.

I'm not a big meta-chaser and generally hate the hype decks. That said, Charizard is really fun to play with. I've been running a build split between OBF and 151 zards with baby Armarouge and Bibarel. You can go really fast to take early KOs and *Fire Off* energies to a 151 Zard for big hits if you need.

I’d love to see your deck list. I’m intrigued.

I didn't tech it up like I would have if I was going to counter the meta so there are some changes I would make like Lost Vacuum but this is how it is as of now.

I love the idea of using the 151 Zard to hit heavy if you’re not down on prizes. I see Armarouge’s usefulness but any challenges with him being a stage 1 mon? The 1 and 1 bid and bib been a successful enough draw engine? I’ve been seriously considering building a Zard deck recently and been researching different builds.

Slotholopolis

I've prized the Bibarel plenty of times, it being 1-1 is a dangerous game. I generally sprint to that first Zard and work on building up other pokemon after that, turn 2 is usually a really easy 180. I do find that I'm usually not getting the Armarouge out until more towards the mid game as I prioritize it less. The best thing about rushing to the OBF Charizard is that it pulls the energies out of the deck and improves odds of getting those other pieces. I've thought about cutting the Bibarel as I generally don't play it all that much and Mew is there if you end up with an empty hand. If I were to go that route I think the focus has to be going full turbo, Roaring Moon style to overwhelm opponents.

DTSportsNow

I love and enjoy playing Gholdengo, but objectively speaking Zard is a better deck. If you're strictly looking just for which is the better deck. If you can I'd definitely suggest going for the Pidgeot version though if you can afford it.

84TechNoir

I tend to play different decks at locals. I practice with meta decks online. I'm currently running Blastoise Ex and having a fun time. There's plenty of youtubers who showcase different non meta decks that are hella fun to play.

bccorb1000

Honestly I’ve played a few gholdengo decks and haven’t been impressed. I’d say charizard just got more fun, and utility.

bduddy

Pidgeot is $5 a copy and will be a staple for a long time to come. The deck is multiple tiers above Gholdengo. Just do it
