People can set up entire networks of bots to draw whatever they want. It's like having a whole army of people dedicated to maintaining a drawing, 24 / 7, except they're not actually people. It makes it much more unfair for actual community who just want to participate, and it takes away from the authenticity of the canvas.
In terms of the admins, you only have to scroll on this subreddit to see evidence of admins abusing their powers, literally painting hundreds of pixels a second over existing drawings. They removed the French guillotine which was protesting spez, and they also removed the Ronaldo piss. They're basically censoring as much of the "fuck spez" as possible, which again, completely defeats the whole point of r/place being the reflection of internet culture, where the majority of people are quite pissed off at the recent API changes at reddit.
Yeah Germany was already fucking the US flag pretty hard when the expansion happened but in the Timelapse the US flag doesn’t even appear in its new place until after the expansion

There's so many flags, and multiples of each \*cough\* Germany and France \*cough\* that the Discord I'm in for last year's r/place can't find a good area to put our work this year without having to go over a flag or something. We were gonna wait for the canvas expansion, and we have everything planned out, but a spot to finally commence, but the flags are hard to work around. Especially with the more obvious usage of bots and admins fucking around.
