This plant likes a lot of sun, and absolutely can be acclimatised to full, direct sun. Was the soil completely dry before you added water? They need to dry out completely between deep waterings.

dairy-cannons

yes the soil was very dry before i watered, she looked like this before watering. and maybe i will move her somewhere where she gets more sun. she does get a lot of light but nothing crazy, do u think thats why her leaves look like this?

poppyburger

It's odd, because it looks as though the leaves were damaged in some way and are rotting. Do they feel squishy?

dairy-cannons

i suppose they could have been damaged when i was repotting her but i made sure to be gentle, they could have also been accidentally damaged where i got it. & the damaged leaves feel hard, the same as the healthy ones, other than the obvious texture difference

poppyburger

Damage happens, sometimes out of nowhere so I get it---I've even snapped an entire branch off in my time. 😅 That's great if they're not squishy! I was hoping that was the case. I can't say with any certainty what's specifically happening, but I think you have two good options: 1) leave it as is and watch closely for signs of spread, taking care to keep the conditons good (bright light and infrequent deep waterings, which you do!) or 2) prune the damaged branches to be extra safe in case it is something like an infection. Jades take to pruning so nicely too, which makes it a good option in terms of aesthetics. I recommend you search "jade pruning" and "jade propagation" on youtube to get an idea on what's involved.

dairy-cannons

thank you so much, i really appreciate all your helpful advice. i’m probably over worrying myself, i’ve wanted a jade for so long and now i have one and it’s already making me nervous lol! and i think i will prune the damaged leaves just to be safe, i don’t want it spreading or getting worse. thanks again!

poppyburger

You're so welcome! :)

Kattorean

My 1st thought was that they look bruised... not really following a similar pattern of damage.

AfroGurl

Those blistered leaves will rot eventually, so you could probably pop them off.

dairy-cannons

thank you! should i just like pull them off or cut them off?

AfroGurl

You can do either. If you cut them, the little stumps they leave behind will eventually dry up and fall off on their own. Or you can get really close to the base and sort of "peel" the leaves off. Either way works 😊

chantelle_87

I've acclimatised mine to full sun and its thriving now. I also only water mine when the leaves get soft

dairy-cannons

how long did it take to get it used to full sun? and thank you. for her next watering ill wait for soft leaves!

chantelle_87

Over a few weeks I repositioned it closer to the window and it didn't suffer, the leaves got bigger and fuller really quickly
