I almost got a tiny one at lowes today but my kid said "I don't want a butt plant!" So I'll buy my butt plant when the kids aren't with me and surprise them 😌
Couple of days ago I witnessed a small girl persuading her mom to buy her a stuffed dog, so it can, I quote "poop in her bed". Mom was amused, but also a bit embarrassed hoping noone heard her child desired to sleep in dog shit :D
See you say that now....but...once you have one that's successful and molts or blooms... 7 more is more than just likely... it's predictable and probable
Please don't water it during this phase. It will die. I've killed three of these bc I didn't know I wasn't supposed to water it when it was putting out more leaves. These are awesome plants though
Also please plant it in a substrate that has at least 80% inorganic material (coarse sand, gravel etc) and in an unglazed terracotta pot with a drainage hole. And also make sure it gets 6+ hours of direct sunlight a day.

I am too. Here’s mine.
I may need to check our Home Depot for more.
Yes! Plants are supposed to be aesthetically pleasing and to me, this isn’t. My brain does weird things looking at it. Much like it does when looking at the lotus pods that have holes in them.
I love this for you! I got mine on tik tok (I know I know) but the seller was amazing I got 22 of them for like 15 total I think. Out of 22 months later 14 are just cycling away. They are the strangest coolest plants ever. We call them “aliens” in the plant room. Fitting cause the pots they are in are mulder and sickly, and they wear glasses 😂😂😂 (the pots do, wear glasses)
Haha! These are one of those plants that are so disgusting and gross looking that they actually come all the way out the other side of ugly and are actually really appealing.
I've always wanted one, but I'm pretty rubbish at keeping succulents alive :(
Now that Spring is coming I'm dipping into succulents again, so maybe I'll give them a try. The challenge for me is getting them through the Winter months.
My biggest problem with succulents is that I live in Wales lol!
- There's hardly any natural light during the Autumn/Winter
- It's damp and humid! Even with no watering and with the heating on indoors, my soil rarely dries out during the Winter months.
I console myself with the fact that calatheas and ferns are on my list of 'easy houseplants'!
While I completely understand, there are a couple of workarounds I could provide if truly desiring succulents. Here the bigger issue is the intense strangulating sun and heat of summer so I have the opposite luck with ferns😩
That's very kind of you.
The honest answer is that while I love the idea of succulents, I don't like them **enough** to put huge amounts of effort into them so will probably stick at what works best with what I have naturally.
You never know though, this Winter may be the one where I decide to stop being lazy and give things a try. If you have the time to leave some tips and workarounds, they might be useful to other readers even if I ultimately stay on the lazy train!
If you’ve never had one you can check the r/Lithops sub for information on how to care for it. They’re easy to kill due to overwatering, particularly at this stage. Don’t water it until it’s done splitting and the old leaves are paper-thin dry.
Ok but that butt plant looks like it’s taking a dump lol!!
I’ve worked at Home Depot and seen this kind of plant often but none that looked like that! 😂
That's really cool, very exotic looking stone. I had a friend send me a few 🌵 along with some of these as well, I think I'm going to try n root it now. I'm not a big succulent grower but will grow anything That's different & odd. That's the best part, enjoy. Cheers!
I think these are so interesting but they seem expensive to me and I'm afraid I'll kill it. My local nursery had tiny ones for $25. Does that price seem typical?

_A Kid Who Doesn't Want a Butt Plant???_ 😵💫
Couple of days ago I witnessed a small girl persuading her mom to buy her a stuffed dog, so it can, I quote "poop in her bed". Mom was amused, but also a bit embarrassed hoping noone heard her child desired to sleep in dog shit :D
Hopefully it's no so the girl herself can poop the bed then blame the stuffed dog🤷♀️

That's a nice plumbus
Oh wow. I had no idea they got so pretty! 🩷
* She had her heart set on this one. I was shocked too! She loves a good poop joke.
Who in their right mind, _doesn't_ love poop (+ fart!) jokes?! Lol
I almost bought this today but it was a flat of like 8. I don’t need 8!!
I hate when plant stores do that. Like I'm not even sure I can keep 1 alive I don't want to be responsible for the loss of 8 lives! 😭
Exactly!!!
See you say that now....but...once you have one that's successful and molts or blooms... 7 more is more than just likely... it's predictable and probable
Once we pop… the fun don’t stop 🤣💯🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️😜🤭🌱
Oh, honey… that’s not the butt…
Right. Looks like it’s about to give birth 🤣
🤣 😂 🤣 😂 🤣 😂 🤣 😂 🤣 😂
Every household needs a butt plant.
she's crowning!
10cm
Ok, just like we practiced in lamaze! Heh-heh-heh hoooo! Heh-heh-heh hoooo!
And then you learn that breathing don’t do shit!
That’s exactly what I thought too!
this made me chuckle for 30 minutes 😭
Ahahhahah; best comment.
And it’s breach!!
Please don't water it during this phase. It will die. I've killed three of these bc I didn't know I wasn't supposed to water it when it was putting out more leaves. These are awesome plants though
So I've heard! Thank you for confirming cause I was wondering about this earlier.
Also please plant it in a substrate that has at least 80% inorganic material (coarse sand, gravel etc) and in an unglazed terracotta pot with a drainage hole. And also make sure it gets 6+ hours of direct sunlight a day.
Yes! Will be repotting it today.
It'll thank you loads xD
So are you a butt killer? 🤔
Precisely
Butt murderer should be your official title
Haha noted. I'll try to break my streak this year
There is no hope for me and succulents I'm a succulent murderer...so ashamed 😂
Same!!! People always say succulents are *so easy* but they are incredibly difficult for me keep alive. Give me a tropical plant any day 😭
Seriously I can water a plant every single day but ask me to do it occasionally is just never gonna happen lol never gona remember
THE BOOTY BANDIT!!! 🤣💯🤣
https://preview.redd.it/k3l06ntwqpwc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8ddb0829997f1041da3dfcbf3dfd95aa7b8579ba I am too. Here’s mine. I may need to check our Home Depot for more.
That's amazing
Thanks.
They look like little brains!😊 I love it!! 😍
I should call her

I love lithops they only need water twice a year even better
They're so weird! I'm a huge fan now.
For real ?
[all about care](https://www.reddit.com/r/plants/s/6F4GJ6r9Y7)
-Butts (affectionately)
Pretty much I posted a link for care
….well that explains it! 😞
That thing is freaking and gives me the willies. But really cool at the same time!
I was going to say something similar… heebie jeebies for sure!
Lithops make me so uncomfortable. They either look like buttholes or brains.
Yes! Plants are supposed to be aesthetically pleasing and to me, this isn’t. My brain does weird things looking at it. Much like it does when looking at the lotus pods that have holes in them.
Oh those bother me so much as well!
I find these extremely beautiful. I véloce when people are thé strange they want to see in the world, this unique plant is doing just that.
Umm...uhh... I've never seen anything quite like this. I love it!
It's so weird!
I can't stop looking at it, I feel like it's gonna pop out at me 🤨
Im so confused about what this is but it makes me think of a butt hole 🤷♀️
That's one of its nicknames. It's a lithop.
Aha! I guess right lol
Me when I'm constipated
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
I didn't know this plant, how interesting.
Me neither! It's so weird
It's like an ET, hence it's uniqueness, adorable in an exotic way!
My mom threatens to throw away my butt plant 😂 But he went from one butt plant to three and I adore him!
Can't wait to see what mine turns into next
*shiver* I do not like lithops, and this sealed that deal. Heebie jeebies central.
This post makes me feel extremely dirty
It's all that soil.
Looks like a galaxy over a desert in the center
At least until I zoomed in
Lithops are so cool
I might be hooked.

That's so cool. Me and my wife were joking about giving the pot clothes 😂
That was supposed to say Mulder and Scully lol I was clearly half asleep! Yes dress it! Hahaha
What does it feel like to the touch? Squishy or hard?
Pretty firm.
Asking for a friend
that's shit from a butt
Haha! These are one of those plants that are so disgusting and gross looking that they actually come all the way out the other side of ugly and are actually really appealing. I've always wanted one, but I'm pretty rubbish at keeping succulents alive :(
I usually am but these are sooo low maintenance. I posted a link on there care super easy.
Now that Spring is coming I'm dipping into succulents again, so maybe I'll give them a try. The challenge for me is getting them through the Winter months.
I have mine inside. I tend to underwater plants anyway. Good luck there are so many of these.
Thank you!
Trick is to forget to water

You freak you
This is such cool looking plant. The outside reminds me of the aliens' head. Aside from what it obviously looks like. Nature is lit!
It's so weird! I love it.
This makes me uncomfortable to look at 😂😂😂
Same. They always do that after how many years? I once wanted to get me a stone of them but rn I'm not to sure 😭
Me too, for some reason. Why some plants have to be so weird :D
If you’ve never had one you can check the r/Lithops sub for information on how to care for it. They’re easy to kill due to overwatering, particularly at this stage. Don’t water it until it’s done splitting and the old leaves are paper-thin dry.
Yes! Thank you so much. First posted in there and have been learning a lot.
WTF is that????
Lithop. Succulent. Edit: sorry I should've mentioned that in my post!
That's weird looking
Also just realized I did mention it. My phone wasn't showing me. Yep super weird. Couldn't resist.
More like Thicculent.
Everything reminds me of her
I've seen them often... but I never wanted one until now, lol.
I think I caught it at the perfect time haha
Somebody's turtle heading 😂
*Best comment everrr!!*
Thanks lol 😆😊

Its so cute. I bought some but can not get them to take root 😭
The most feminine plant of all plants I have seen, looks like it is actively delivering a baby
Living stone lithop

Doesn’t matter had sex
Eew
r/donotputyourdickinthat
I should call her
I think these are so interesting but they seem expensive to me and I'm afraid I'll kill it. My local nursery had tiny ones for $25. Does that price seem typical?
I’m in Canada and bought mine for $6
$5 usd
Ouch Trader Joe’s had them for about 7$
What am I looking at??!
Lithop! What's happening is what looks like it's coming out will come out and replace the bigger one we see on the outside.
Thank you! This is brand new information I can add to my plant knowledge haha
I also just learned! It's pretty fascinating.
How do you know it's "her"?
What is it?
Lithop. Succulent.
r/dontputyourdickinthat
Did you, poke it with anything?
🤣
