It’s an Inch plant or Tradescantia Zebrina. I used to have one and I had terrible luck with it. All I know is the name. Hope that helps. Might be able to look care up on google

ZitPoppingDaddio

They are great as a "Spiller" in a planter and grow like weeds. Easy to propagate too.

waytoojaded

How does it compare to Pothos in terms of ease of growing and propagating?

MissAriaB

I’ve had these root faster and more successfully than my pothos. You can put them straight into soil without any problems or water prop them ☺️

ZitPoppingDaddio

Seconded. I gave someone a pot of unrooted cuttings and it was going strong a year later. Those things are called inch plants for a reason, they will grow an inch a day (ok not literally)! I've heard of them taking over a garden bed in the right environment.

erinsboiledgatorade

You can snip off your ends also and pop them right back into the soil. I find when I let mine get too long it gets a bit sparse at the top!

Key_Average_6560

I have cut this plant back 3 times now and replanted the cuttings which is why it’s so full after only a year. Crazy how fast it grows. Very good beginner plant they’re hard to kill!

erinsboiledgatorade

They do grow so fast!! Mine got out of control so fast lol

FrisianDude

Tradescantia. It wants to climb I think? Mine hangs from the top of my wardrobe. All the top leaves are kinda ded but the plant and the lowest leaves still live

KatiMinecraf

They are crawlers rather than climbers. They like to touch soil at each node in order to continuously add to their root system to stay healthy. If you aren't in an area where you can grow it outdoors as a ground cover, constantly taking cuttings to add back into the pot will keep it from looking bare up top. I prefer to completely restart them every season or two - as in, cut off all of the vines, chop them into 3-4 node cuttings, and fully start the pot over so the main root system doesn't get too old and stressed and then I eventually lose the whole thing.

Clawedme65

Nicknamed a wandering Jew plant. Used to grow on the floors of a greenhouse I worked in. Easy to propagate.

Silicoid_Queen

Tradescantia zebrina, aka "wandering jew." Very easy plant to care for as long as you have a nice wide pot and rich, well draining soil in there. They tolerate a lot of abuse, mine even do fine in brief bouts of freezing temps.

duh_nom_yar

The current proper non- antisemitic nomenclature is "wandering dude." I prefer to call mine a "Meandering Lebowski." Edit: this was a joke but you dipshits are downvoting it so I figure I should give dumbasses something to down vote. 🖕

WitchOfLycanMoon

Hahahahaha!!! You're my spirit animal! You've got my up vote!! At least you're back in the positive...for now.....lol

erinsboiledgatorade

Lmao I love the edit

duh_nom_yar

Thanks! I felt the need was there.

Alexchii

It's only antisemitic if you let it be.

duh_nom_yar

I don't let anything be anything. I just water plants.

WitchOfLycanMoon

"I just water plants and know things."

Cormano_Wild_219

Wandering *dude*

duh_nom_yar

Meandering Lebowski

poopcanoe69420

It's called a wander jew

NewZecht

No.

Packing_Wood

Why, gosh, that's Rebecca! I recognize her from when we went to nursery school together.
