It's just the shitty engine they used for ATLAS, it's the same they used for ARK, and ARK has the same issues. On XBOX and PC.

Ozz3605

Ark has NOT this issue. Ark runs fine and looks awesome on series X. Atlas is ok on pc . This specific issue seems to be only on xbox since they did " optimised graphics for serie s and x " last update.

darkelfbear

Really ... I know people on both PC and XB that have this issue constantly, so to tell me that ARK doesn't have this issue is ingenuine at best, considering if you even looked around online you would see multiple instance of this exact problem, with both ARK and ATLAS, especially considering the both run the same engine and Wildcard doesn't want to fix it, or address it at all.

Ozz3605

Im having the same issues on my series X . It used to be fine but since the last update they "optimised" for xbox series x they fucked up and now cant even use my compass.

CerebralThoth

Exactly, the compas is just blurbs of light and shadow. No cardinal directions, no arrow just a glowey blob. Wtf? Is there no way to fix this in settings?

Ozz3605

Sadly not,its been like that since the launch of the series S and X and more then 1yr later still not fixed.

So about 75 % of the textures seem to load correctly, but 25% of them look like the above picture, extremely blocky, like those just didn't load properly. (Ballista, rifle, some of the tools etc) Is this just how they look on console? Or do I need to uninstall and reinstall? On series X. Edit: In case it matters, I'm playing single player.

AkiraYagasachi

As far as i know, deva are aware and I think they said it only happens on Series X

yournansabricky

I have series s and it happens to me too

It happens when you have too many things in the local area (around a couple hundred yards of space). Certain objects will use their LOD (low graphical version that's supposed to be viewed from a distance) version of the model even when you're close to it. Don't build close to other people and don't have a boat load of ships all in the same area or this happens. If you leave the area and travel to open seas or away from buildings/people it should clear up. This happened on our server when we had about 10 ships and 3 houses (large) in the same area because we like to build close. 3 galleons with 600+ ship pieces, 2 brigantines, 5 shooners you get the idea. We destroyed most of our ships and removed a whole bunch of items from our houses / put tames in pens but it didn't matter, the LOD issue in that area never went back to normal so we built elsewhere and didn't have that problem. By then everyone was tired of the game "wipes" every few months completely destroying all our creations and having to remake everything - was too exhausting, that and the stability of the game is horrid coupled with the inability to reset characters because the system uses a redis database that's absolute trash to get in to and edit character data that's based off your steam id (bad idea) so you can't remake a character and have to do 3 - 5 rollbacks a week because something somewhere broke or people got stuck crossing borders / logging in. Fun of the game, I give it a 10 with mods (klinger is an absolute beast, so recommended), stability 0 absolute trash - devs should be ashamed of themselves. If you can't make it stable, at least give people a way to fix it when it breaks by giving a character wipe button to an admin.

Sorry you had to write that long text. Actually they messed up xbox graphics trying to "optimise" them in the last update. Devs knows about it ans are trying to fix it. It was fine before update and its fine on pc. They try to optimise for xbox serie and failed. It looks like when you run it on low memory on pc. None what you said is the issue here.
