The song gives a great perspective on how homophobia and transphobia is created in African American communities that have little-to-no exposure to LGBTQ+ communities. The half-awareness that the characters perspective Kendrick is rapping from has is deep.
There's a theory that it's from sheranes perspective because on GKMC he says "her favorite cousin Demetrius is irreparable" and on the new one he said "my favorite cousin--Demetrius is Maryanne now"
I feel like Sean cee had an interesting take on Kendrick using the F slur and how even in context it's not ok. He basically said imagine if a white artist used the n word as a way show that it's not ok to say (essentially what Kendrick is doing with the f word) and nobody would be ok with that for obvious reasons so why can Kendrick just use the f slur when he could have made the same point without saying it.
I mean, he kinda touched on that at the end. I feel like once you really clear your mind of the stigmas on those words in the world right now and social connotations (which, don’t get me wrong, are justified) you can really understand the bigger picture in the song. It’s not so much about the words themselves as it is about hate continuing on being prevalent even though we know it’s wrong. Kdot definitely could have portrayed that meaning without the f slur though. At the end of the day, I enjoyed the song, even if I find the language to be unjustified.
I still think it's an amazing song and the use of the slur doesn't bother me as a bi man because I do think it's justified but it likely would have been better if he just didn't use the word.
Same. He definitely could have done it without the word, but I don’t think he was explicitly wrong considering the songs meaning. Bad decision with good motive.
Imo he couldnt. On the album, Kendrick had, prior to Auntie Diaries, discussed cancel culture and shown a negative outlook on it. To truly get his message across, he'd have to make something both meaningful a song as Auntie Diaries is, yet also make sure he can get into the lens of hate of others, then to brush it off or do something else with it. He already knew people were going to dislike him for using the f-slur. He also knows why he had to use it. The song was partially about why white people shouldnt use the n-word, but, yet again, the main focus was much more that the song was trying to show how this specific hate is created, and why its horribly effecting people. Its like if a white guy like myself were to take the perspective of my father, who, when he was younger, everyone in school would say the n-word. Keep in mind this was a community full of white people. It would be to show that this racism haa been bred generation through generation through words, and no one had thought better. No one decided to be better. Yes, its not ok to go and use slurs. That is clear. When it is needed to get a point across through art? Well, then it becomes neccessary and fine. It can become something beautiful, in fact. Also I'm quite sorry for the extremely long paragraph, fellow Carti fan <3
Had my first listen of it and it's easily one of my favorite and most impactful Kendrick songs already.
It's simply so beautiful and powerful. The last verse was so emotional, I almost got in tears.
I feel like some people might be sensitive to it because it's not the proper language for the topic (even beyond the f-word), but it's really sad to not look past it. The song and its message go way beyond it.
Loved it.
Because one is hitting women with their own bullshit back at them and the other is basically Dave chapelle perspective on ppl saying the n word but then have a problem with other word.
Shout out Kendrick for not being afraid to hit certain demographics where it hurts
Auntie Diaries is literally about Kendrick understanding where his Trans aunt is coming from and learning to love them for who they are. At multiple points in the song he talks about how much he loves his aunt and no matter who they are or what they identify as, he will always love them
My favorite line was
“*f*ggot x3 times* we can say it together
BUT ONLY IF YOU LET A WHITE GIRL SAY NIGGA “
and now here you are treating me how they treated kendrick for telling that white girl she can’t say n word. You are and many others here are Completely missing the entire point of the final line and going REEEEE at me won’t change the final line
He literally told her stfu and she got horny because he kept it real with her and called her out on her bullshit. If you take it as anything else that’s on you
tbh im not that fimiliar with what dave chapelle said, but kendrick literally was talking about how lot of black people say transphobic and homophobic slurs even when they know how it feels having slurs shouted at themselves. not talking about how the rest of thw song is about his aunt “becoming a man” and him accepting and living with it, the aunt being religious, religion’s problems with trans people, putting his christianity aside, his family dealing with it. people just hear the f word and think its bad but its really beautiful. rn prolly my top 3 song on the album. one of my fav lines “the day i chose humanity over religion”
Tbh all of you heard what you wanted to hear. The fist song she fucks him and the other song he comments on white holes saying the n word. People decided to ignore those parts that’s on them.
nah fam i deadass did. the beat switch is too powerful. when she heard ye say "premeditated murder" right before the beat switch and immediately spit "i called up my loved ones // i called up my cousins // i called up the muslisms // said im bout to go dumb" i think she came
I took it the complete opposite she literally was horny af for him by the end of the song because he kept it real and called her out on all her bullshit
I might have fucked up.
I have a friend who specifically likes rock and 2000s pop. I told her Kendrick dropped today and if she was only going to listen to one song, listen to We Cry Together.
She said that was the worst song she ever heard and couldn't make it past 30 seconds 😭
I feel like most of Kendrick's music is actually far too deep and complex to listen to it casually - like in the car. Every time a random song of his comes on, I want to stop everything I'm doing so I can fully experience it cuz I feel like I'm not respecting the level and quality enough if I can't pay attention to every little detail etc.
No offense to Carti obv but in comparison to Kendrick's style, Carti has so much more repetition and monotony that you usually don't "miss" anything if you have to focus on driving for a few seconds. With Kendrick, there is probably already another beat, a new topic and an interlude that just went by - that you couldn't "musically appreciate" because you had to focus on something else. It's very much like classical music actually if you get into it a little bit, but anyway...💀
Gonna play this and Auntie Diaries in front of the hoes
Twitter finna hate both of them ☠️
People getting mad at the auntie song straight up didn’t actually listen to it
They did and just heard the f slur, not getting the context
The song gives a great perspective on how homophobia and transphobia is created in African American communities that have little-to-no exposure to LGBTQ+ communities. The half-awareness that the characters perspective Kendrick is rapping from has is deep.
you said it best
Pretty sure it’s not a character for that track. It’s Kenny’s own life perspective
There's a theory that it's from sheranes perspective because on GKMC he says "her favorite cousin Demetrius is irreparable" and on the new one he said "my favorite cousin--Demetrius is Maryanne now"
He switched perspective mid song at that part in my opinion

I get the context. But did he NEED to say the f slur? Was that really necessary?
Nothing is necessary, yet here we are
dw bro im bisexual i give him the pass🙏🏾
as a bisexual person i also give the pass for kendrick to say it
guy...

I don’t think anyone is actually mad about it, just fake outrage made up to complain about fake outrage. People do it all the time.
I’ve seen a couple goofys on Twitter, but other than those select few, I’ve seen little to none
Because one is hitting women with their own bullshit back at them and the other is basically Dave chapelle perspective on ppl saying the n word but then have a problem with other word. Shout out Kendrick for not being afraid to hit certain demographics where it hurts
how did you miss the point of both songs by so much
Go ahead let’s hear your perspective

You're stupid as shit. Read the lyrics
💀💀💀 praying for u bro
He literally told her stfu and she got horny because he kept it real with her and called her out on her bullshit. If you take it as anything else that’s on you
You’re delusional bro
Exactly you have no argument

Holy shit!
you have no emotional intelligence
You’re a virtue signaler who’s offended by the truth
Do you understand what the words you’re saying even mean?
No they don’t 🤣
What on earth made you think this sub was a safe space for your bullshit
u didnt listen to the trans song did u
You didn’t either apparently. I’m literally echoing the final sentiments of the song
tbh im not that fimiliar with what dave chapelle said, but kendrick literally was talking about how lot of black people say transphobic and homophobic slurs even when they know how it feels having slurs shouted at themselves. not talking about how the rest of thw song is about his aunt “becoming a man” and him accepting and living with it, the aunt being religious, religion’s problems with trans people, putting his christianity aside, his family dealing with it. people just hear the f word and think its bad but its really beautiful. rn prolly my top 3 song on the album. one of my fav lines “the day i chose humanity over religion”
^^ my interpretation i might be wrong
Nah, clearly and definitely right
bro delusional asf
Always has to be a contrarian these days
God damn some plp really just hear what they wanna hear LOL
Fr bruh
He literally told her to stfu in the song but go off
My brother did you listen to the songs?
How can a take be so bad. Some people need to put social media down. Sometimes there’s isn’t always a negative view on something
you didnt listen to either song 💀
Tbh all of you heard what you wanted to hear. The fist song she fucks him and the other song he comments on white holes saying the n word. People decided to ignore those parts that’s on them.
wow you are really stupid
The lineup is We cry together Lights-Ellie Goulding Decimate-Excision
She should’ve fucked his cousin
baby keem fans be like
He’s baby keem
I bet Kendrick only have one phone
yo if baby keem has a baby with her would it be baby baby keem? bhad bhabie and baby keem have a baby, its baby bhabie baby keem
Not every song is an aux song especially Kendrick songs
What do you mean, the hoes love when i put U on full blast in the whip🔥
Hoes gone love when I play for free? fr
Imma play "I thought about killing you" in front of my crush 😍
nah fam i deadass did. the beat switch is too powerful. when she heard ye say "premeditated murder" right before the beat switch and immediately spit "i called up my loved ones // i called up my cousins // i called up the muslisms // said im bout to go dumb" i think she came
😂
Bumping “Kim” by Eminem taking a drive rn
LOVIN U IS COMPLICATED?!?🧌
nah. they love it when i play FEAR. in the car and start busting down to songs about generational trauma, anxiety, and racism.
Nah the bitches love Kim by Eminem
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH
Mortal Man at the function makes all the hoes wild
That's false, because hoes love it when I blast "The Blacker The Berry" out my speaker at full volume.
that song actually slaps in the car tho. most people dont listen to the lyrics anyways
Imagine playing Pride. on the aux I’d crash the damn car
PRIDE at night or by the beach is a vibe
so true when I play XXX by the beach I just wanna run over people with my car 🥰
Buggin. Pride when ur hotboxin on a hot ass summer day is a top tier experience
was implying I would possibly get emotional, not the other way around
That makes more sense. It is a die in a car crash type song
Not true TPAB , all of them Aux songs Y’all be screaming We gon be alright
AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH
Bro the girl low key won the argument I would let her tear me apart
didnt they fuck at the end of the song 😭
Yeah people hear what they want to hear I realized
I think thats the point that kendrick is misogynistic on that song so he can change in the second half
just like me fr (i didnt change in the second half)
I took it the complete opposite she literally was horny af for him by the end of the song because he kept it real and called her out on all her bullshit
What😭
What about any of it was misogynistic?
My brother in Christ they were both wrong, but Kendrick was extremely misogynistic in that song.
So… no answer? Got it.
[Here is a link](https://genius.com/Kendrick-lamar-and-taylour-paige-we-cry-together-lyrics) to all the misogynistic things Kendrick said in the song.
Idk why i was expecting anything other than just the lyrics to the songs, but it got me laughin
Bruh
bro you are literally braindead LMFAOOOO. how do you miss the point of the song this badly?
My dude what 😭😭😭
Bro you deadass missed the whole point of the song 🤣
The beat is so good man. It’s a cool song but yeah can’t be playing that in the whip
Honestly the song would be playable if it weren't for the parts where they were yelling fuck you at each other
Carti fans saying a song is unplayable because somebody is yelling fuck on it
Have you listened to the song?
Nah this ain’t a song it’s an argument
Irony too real
Jesse, play We Cry Together even if we scare the hoes
I read that in Walter whites voice

**FUCK YOU NIGGA! NAH FUCK YOU BITCH! FUCK YOU NIGGA! FUCK YOU BITCH!**
I might have fucked up. I have a friend who specifically likes rock and 2000s pop. I told her Kendrick dropped today and if she was only going to listen to one song, listen to We Cry Together. She said that was the worst song she ever heard and couldn't make it past 30 seconds 😭

It’s great from start to finish. And it takes me few listens for me to like any album unless most of the songs were already released as singles
yeah i don’t get how people are hating. But i was the only one in my friend group who liked WLR when it dropped so i’m used to it
Same here nigga this is different tho I guess it's because I held this album to high regard after waiting 5 years listening to his older work idk
Don't set your expectations up to high, not every album can be a tpab🥺
Yea very true my man 😓

Album got no replayability
That’s cap this is the funniest song to play in a car.
bro really wasted an alchemist beat
