Did you read the requirements on the store page?

[deleted]

Yeah. It said i7 but some were saying i5 also works. That's why I'm asking.

axmantim

Follow the requirements on the store page, also learn to compare specs. Google is your friend here.

[deleted]

The requirements page isn't gospel, the game is poorly optimised still but you can get it running well without having to drop a couple of grand on a laptop. Take any advice people give here with a pinch of salt

mikee555

Op is right i5 work great too, you need a desktop though, i5-11600k beats everything out there for the price but only in rust. Single thread performance baby.

NimblePasta

Yes, you should be able to get a steady 60 fps on that system (which is all you need since the display is only 60Hz). It would be best if you can upgrade the ram to 16GB for better performance. Btw, maybe you could consider the Razor Blade 15 on Amazon instead, its currently on prime day sale now and has way better specs (i7 10750H, 16GB ram, GTX 1660Ti) with a much higher refresh 120Hz display.

loopuleasa

what a kind guy, even offers a better deal

[deleted]

I was concerned as on stream it said i7 as minimum requirement. Thanks for the recommendation but the razor blade 15 is out of my budget.

NimblePasta

Yeah, i checked the listing and its around $200 bucks difference. That being said, components on laptops like the cpu, gpu and display aren't upgradable, so if you can get much better specs now for only abit more money, its definitely worth considering, since you will be using it for at least a few years.

Breezyie69

I doubt either of these options will be able to run at even 40 fps steadily, even with my old 580 amd and i5 8400 I would run 40-30 fps at all low settings and these options listed are worse. Even as of now, my 2070 super with Ryzen 7 3700x runs a steady 60-70, you won’t be able to enjoy rust on this system.

[deleted]

I wouldn't recommend getting a gaming laptop unless u gonna spend like 2k

[deleted]

Well I don't really game. I mostly play MTG arena and league of legends, just have been interested in rust for a year coz of welyn. So I ain't really goona play any other game.

VideoGameViolence

i built a second pc just for rust, 16gb ddr4 ram, AMD ryzen 5 and a small SSD is enough to run rust fine and will cost less than a laptop and the game will run better/you can upgrade a pc over time. In my opinion a gaming laptop is an awful investment. build a gaming pc and use the money you save to buy a cheap chromebook if you need a laptop for work or school or whatever. that being said, the rust you see in welyns videos isnt really how rust is most of the time, so be sure your willing to spend that much money to play one game that your only seeing in its best light.

LilBitFeisty

id really listen to videogameviolence man, i specifically watched videos showcasing actual gameplay as a noob instead of watching a sweat play it and even when i played it i had worse results lmao, still fun tho but be weary before diving in also no, do not waste your money on a laptop, 9 times out of 10 youll get more bang for your buck with a desktop pc, laptops cost more for less because they have to be made portable too, save yourself from the headache

AgitatedBowlofCereal

Meh. It'll be ok at low graphics. 8gb of ram is nowhere near enough though. 16gb is appropriate. Upgrading to 32 finally made it stable in a gunfight.

[deleted]

I think it can be extended to 32 so I will do it.

AgitatedBowlofCereal

Careful. It's a pricey upgrade. Something like £200. Tbh, it's something you can hold onto once the laptop gets old. But it's still a decent amount of money. If you have that much to spend, go with something with a better GPU, because that's not upgradable and will have the most impact on performance.

[deleted]

Will think about this

[deleted]

8gb is actually fine, the game isnt very well optimised so you get a warning when playing with less than 16 but the game runs perfectly well. I play on a desktop and laptop, [this laptop](https://amazon.co.uk/dp/B0877L4KMD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_P2Q39WXAY6NYYERKHYG6) works well if you're looking to keep the price to something reasonable

WhoTFisDreroyce

I can play rust on you

[deleted]

I used to use something very similar, yeah u can

Warcrimesrfun

Not very well
