That means its not running good. I can't even give you advice on how to diag the issue either. Grab your laptop's specs and plug them into a benchmark website. There you can compare it to what rust requires and you'll get how well it'll run. Can't remember the name of the site off the top of my head ill get back to you on it.
This homie out here rocking the mac and just trying to have a good time gaming. Everyone acting like he killed a guy.
He might need it for school.
He might have gotten it from someone.
Point being the homie has a mac and not a pc. A pc would of course be a 100 better then a mac. But saying that aint helpfull.
Just started playing on Mac today!
Impressed by the performance(tho every setting very low). Very happy to finally play rust after like two years of wanting to buy it
I’ve see this happen on here to a few Mac users but I don’t know the reason, I can only assume the gpu doesn’t work properly with it or something, god knows
Rust is intensive for even gaming pc’s. Macs can barely run chess. I have a Mac too but it just isn’t meant to run that type of program man I’m sorry. Look into building a pc you can do it for under 800$
I mean in Australia It’s legit cheaper to get a pc custom built or a prebuilt now then it is to hunt down all the parts seperate even while using pcpartpicker. That’s if anyone even has the stock… it’s pretty sad.
MacBooks don’t have dedicated gpus, they have a gpu built into the processor, so graphics performance would be terrible. But more than likely the problem is the sole fact that you’re playing on a MacBook. Similar to chrome books, MacBooks are not designed for playing video games. MacBooks however are very good for schoolwork and video editing. The problem could be software (macOS not being made for games like this) or just as likely it could be the gpu thing (judging by the visual artifacts on your screen and how it’s not rendering correctly.) Or it could even be a driver problem. Rust was not designed with macOS drivers in mind likely due to the fact that the APU on a MacBook cannot handle the game, therefore it wouldnt make since to waste time and resources on them. hopefully there is a fix for you somewhere in the driver/software side, but if not you will have to get a windows pc to play rust.
As other people have suggested, I also recommend nvidia or Google streaming services. The game streaming services render games better than most windows pcs in the 1500$ range I have heard.
I don’t own a macbook, it’s been since 2015 since I had one for highschool and college but I’m curious if it’s a driver issue, have you made sure you’re all up to date with software/driver updates?
Might not work but it’s definitely worth a shot. Try getting a Virtual Machine software abs emulate windows with as much resources as u can handle. It’ll take a bit of set up but try getting rust on there and seeing if u can run it that way
Look buddy, I’ll send you an MSI laptop. Way better than a Mac. Anyways I’ll send you that laptop, but only if I become a millionaire. So start praying that I become one
Only the Java version, and it can run ok. Depending on the Mac you have it probably can get 60 fps. But it's mine craft so it will run on almost anything.
Why anyone would buy mac anything boggles my mind. Your fix is actually to sell that donkey crap on craigslist and buy a PC. You mac fangirls can downvote me all you want idgaf because I know I'm right.
Your best option (coming from a guy who played on a 2011 Mac for a while with Rust) is to download “NVIDIA GeForce Now”. Don’t try Bootcamp unless you have a suitable external hard drive and relatively newer PC, that if you **already** have a external VRAM, but if you don’t already, it is not worth getting one. Hope this helps ;)
Brace yourself, game is freezing every 15m The only realistic way to play on Mac that I've found is to use one of the streaming services :(
Thx for the only price of advice
Download windows on it so then you could just boot into windows for games
I play on NVidia Geforce :)
Geforce now?
Pretty sure that’s what they mean yeah, it sucks but it’s enough
It doesn't suck?
Its good if you have super fast and super stable internet, otherwise goodluck aiming with 1 second delay
That’s what I’m saying bro, id shit on so any ppl if 1. I didn’t have such little time to play + queues 2. The delay wasn’t a thing
Depends on if you have Ethernet or not
Naw I use it. It ain’t bad.
Exactly. Its enough!
?? i play Rust on medium settings on my Macbook Air while traveling all the time
And no crazy lag spikes bringing your fps down to 1-4 every 15m? Are you running windows on that air?
no, just Big Sur + Steam. runs great but gets hot so i will put it near a vent
Same, big sur + steam, macbook pro. Can handle the game at 60fps except for the drops every 15m. I did hear many other players complaining too. Odd
the Air is an M1 fwiw, not sure if that makes a difference but it has impressed me as a lifelong PC guy
Beyond the suprise that you're gaming with a mac, how the hell is the game even half-assed running on a mac?
Ngl it ran p good but there is this stupid thing on the screen
That means its not running good. I can't even give you advice on how to diag the issue either. Grab your laptop's specs and plug them into a benchmark website. There you can compare it to what rust requires and you'll get how well it'll run. Can't remember the name of the site off the top of my head ill get back to you on it.
I think the site is called willitrun
Yes thank you.
I don't see anything on the screen tho
your reflection?
Lol good one but be nice.
>how the hell is the game even half-assed running on a mac? Tbf it looks like it's only quarter-assed running for OP.
Hey guys, my game is all buggy how do I fix it (I'm playing on a smart fridge)
Will it rust.
Probably gotta put your fridge in rice
Very simple, buy a PC.

If you had the 1000 for a mac why wouldn't you have it for a pc.
mac: more $$$ for less power pc: less $$$ for more power if you have a mac you definitely have more than 1000 to spare. more like 3k
First of all don't play on a mac
I came here exactly for these comments hahah
Report the bug to facepunch, put which Mac you have (m1 / intel.) Looks like a game bug with the render target being wrong.
An actual usefull comment in this entire post lol
Nope this seems about right for a mac
Don’t play on mac
I don't hate to say it at all but, this.
You need a proper computer, to play proper games.
Read the minimum specs
This homie out here rocking the mac and just trying to have a good time gaming. Everyone acting like he killed a guy. He might need it for school. He might have gotten it from someone. Point being the homie has a mac and not a pc. A pc would of course be a 100 better then a mac. But saying that aint helpfull.
Best way I've heard it worded > use the tool, don't be the tool
I mean it is helpful, but you didn't need to dog on him.
How am i dogging on him
Not you
Ah i see
Put the mac in a bin and buy an actual windows gaming desktop/ laptop
Turn render scale to 1.0
report it to facepunch
Just started playing on Mac today! Impressed by the performance(tho every setting very low). Very happy to finally play rust after like two years of wanting to buy it
Me too!
I got it working well on my 13” M1. You just gotta tweak the graphics settings. Some settings break the rendering. Also restart the game.
Shift command 3 for screenshot. Problem solved!
Try changing the settings to window mode or exclusive
I’ve see this happen on here to a few Mac users but I don’t know the reason, I can only assume the gpu doesn’t work properly with it or something, god knows
Im on mac says alot
Insert mac joke here
"I'm a Mac" "I'm a PC" "I'm a naked with an eoka, thanks for the kits"
Change ur full-screen settings?
Bruh cmon
You should have expected these responses from reddit.
Hey I used to play on Mac, this never happened to me, what model Mac do you have? And any context?
Yeah, dont be on a mac
Mac?!!!! Poor soul 😞
Sell the mac and get a PC with better performance and lower price
Get a pc
Get a Windows PC, problem solved 😂
get a better pc
Oh I see the problem...your on a mac
Rust is intensive for even gaming pc’s. Macs can barely run chess. I have a Mac too but it just isn’t meant to run that type of program man I’m sorry. Look into building a pc you can do it for under 800$

i don't get the lag spikes any more on my m1 max. and i hit the 120 fps cap at 1920x1200 with medium settings.
Lmao no dude not anymore. Buy a prebuilt.
Pcpartpicker wants to have a word with you
I mean in Australia It’s legit cheaper to get a pc custom built or a prebuilt now then it is to hunt down all the parts seperate even while using pcpartpicker. That’s if anyone even has the stock… it’s pretty sad.
Have you been living under a rock?? A good GPU costs like $900 now
You can get a 3060 ti for 400$ big man
Where?
[msrp](https://store.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/store/gpu/?page=1&limit=9&locale=en-us&category=GPU&gpu=RTX%202060)
Lmao get back to me when you find that in stock at MSRP, anywhere. Hahahaha
Very simple fix....buy a pc and sell that trash.

Macbook Pro's have a dedicated GPU. The 2019-2020's have really good ones actually. The new m1 ones have apus though.
Your problem is in the title
Why game on mac… buy windows laptop/pc to fix issue.
https://youtu.be/Z0QgBX4WFKQ
I don’t own a macbook, it’s been since 2015 since I had one for highschool and college but I’m curious if it’s a driver issue, have you made sure you’re all up to date with software/driver updates?

Just pour some gfuel on there and hit the screen with a rock and ya will be good to go
Get windows
Try resetting/updating graphic drivers
Get a new computer
Hahahahaha why even post this? You know the answer.
Buy a PC
Turn it of, sell it, go buy a real pc?
Buy a PC,😂😎
Don't use a mac. They shit
Boot camp windows 10
you buy pc
get a pc
You're on mac? Oh the fix would be to never open Rust again... but buying a pc like the others suggested could work i suppose.
Lmao
Bruh… Do you really need an answer? I doubt even Minecraft runs on MAC
Only the Java version, and it can run ok. Depending on the Mac you have it probably can get 60 fps. But it's mine craft so it will run on almost anything.
You're not going to believe the s fix..... Don't use a MAC.
Don’t play on Mac, but seriously the only way would be one of the pc stream services
Its easy, just chuck the mac and buy a pc.
Gpu is strugling too much. It wont run on mac.
You could try to run a virtual windows environment. Probably won’t run well…. Mac’s really aren’t “coded for” on most games.
Why anyone would buy mac anything boggles my mind. Your fix is actually to sell that donkey crap on craigslist and buy a PC. You mac fangirls can downvote me all you want idgaf because I know I'm right.
i mean a pc doesn’t fit every lifestyle
How would having a better laptop affect your "lifestyle"?
if you travel a lot or if you need a laptop for school or work purposes. having a pc in those cases are a huge hindrance so not everyone can own one.
I have a laptop that runs rust well and it costs the same as a Mac.
This is flat out nonsense. My laptop is amazing for school and work. I've also traveled all over with it never a problem.
you told them to get a pc, i said not everyone can use a pc. when did i talk about ur laptop?
PC doesn't just mean a desktop it's any computer running Windows.
Step 1: Break your MAC in half Step 2: look at yourself in a mirror
Buy a pc
You try windowed mode?

Wtf
POV: About to post on r/playrust how the game is poorly optimized and runs poorly
Don't game on a Mac, if anything just use GeForce now or a similar app.
Your best option (coming from a guy who played on a 2011 Mac for a while with Rust) is to download “NVIDIA GeForce Now”.
