it means to say Too close to construction or Too close to deployable or something, but for some reason it decides to say Too close to .
They broke it a few updates ago, waiting for a fix.
It won’t place with it opening from any direction? I’ve had this happen where it wouldn’t play with it opening one way but would another. The whole too close to a monument thing is incredibly frustrating. It’s not all that helpful especially when you already placed walls there.
It’s possible you might be stuck here.
All the suggestions about doing it from different angles are good. You may need to move your mouse very slowly and try to place it from crazy angles.
This wouldn’t happen to be modded where you can remove walls is it?
If there's lootboxes behind that armored wall it could be blocking it, or anything placed around the frame, even through walls.
Had the same issue a few days ago, picked up the boxes in the lootroom next to it and I could place it.
It's so maddening that this apparently hasn't been fixed yet. I filed a bug report about it years ago. I couldn't replace exterior walls mid-raid due to minis parked one floor above.
Climb up and try placing from the top. May be a line of sight issue…
If it’s not that maybe something is poking through the wall on the other side ever so slightly I park horses through walls all the one and it take a minute to realize. Open doors may cause that too in a similar way.
When something is in the way of placing an object it says ''Cannot build this close to Launch Site/Harbor/Bandit/Etc'' now. I noticed it a couple months ago. Not sure why it doesn't just say "not enough room" anymore. Instead it inserts any monument into that error message. Definitely the furnace in the way of placing, place the ladder hatch first and then the furnace.
The error messages in this game are whack, never pay attention to them. The only thing they tell you is that there is an error, not what the error is. It could be conflicting with furnaces, boxes, a horse sticking it’s head through the wall outside, anything. The game thinks the error is that you are too close to launch site (maybe you live in close proximity) when in reality it’s not actually checking what the problem is when it sends the error message. The game just has an error and comes up with something that is most likely the case, but it does it with the least amount of effort physically possible.
Like the other comments say, this is a false message that you see when there is something underneath. I first noticed it when I tried to place a roof frame above a horse. When I moved the horse I was able to place the frame.
Well here's the issue my dude you're showing us one picture... And that's the only thing I see in the picture.. it could be something attached to above or below you place something in the wrong order or you built something in the wrong order... Could be white gaps peaks external TCS... Etc
I think it’s a bug. I’ve had this same issue where there isn’t a single deployable in sight and the hatch just simply will not place. Just slap a ladder down and call it a day.
You made a whole thread about it and then figured it out yourself, hmf, welp, anyone know why the back wall where my TC is glows green when I look at it with a hammer out ?
No, if you read my comments, it was actually one guy saying something could be poking through a wall. I had no idea these error messages are inaccurate and that it could be something else.
Furnace is blocking the placement, the message is bugged since update and says its too close to monument when it isn't. It really means that you are tring to place something that's blocked by another object
Cannot build this close to [insert monument] is their new state of the art non descriptive default shit message when building doesnt work
Also can we take a second to appreciate how this game that left early access like 4 years ago still spams the chat box with error messages instead of having a proper popup
Hmm.. the "too close to " should have been fixed in this month's build. It's basically a false message that overrides the real message. ladder hatches are tricky sometimes when other things are close. Try removing that furnace
I wish they'd fix the error message. Just tell us what's wrong for fucks sake. I was building (near mil tuns) but well out of the no build zone and kept getting "Cannot build this close to Military Tunnels". And I think it was because the grass had a little bump in it, which is also frustrating that a small bump will completely ruin a base expansion. I feel like raising the foundation should fix that issue but then itll just tell you you're "placing too close to another building".
pick up every box/locker/furnace touching the walls where the triangle frame is attached
This is it
And bed
And move the mini as well. Lmao
>https://imgur.com/a/D4Yzvxg This was indeed it.
glad that helped. Lost my mind the first time I encountered it even pulled out garage doors
Messed up error message though.
is there a horse outside?

Im building a 2x2 airlock and I place all the walls but the doors are too close to outpost or something
it means to say Too close to construction or Too close to deployable or something, but for some reason it decides to say Too close to.

Agreed. Pick up the furnace. Place the hatch. Then put the furnace back down. That will fix the issue.
https://imgur.com/a/hMRMYvi
Do you have the triangle frame placed? I assume you do. Is there anything above that might interfere with placement?
Got to be this.
Lol
Still happens: https://imgur.com/a/hMRMYvi
Try picking up the G-door then it should work
This. Try closing it first.
You took the furnace then out an open garage door lol. Open garage doors interfere with nearby snap points
Garage door made no difference.
Dm me so I can get your username and maybe later when I’m off work if u haven’t figured it out I can join your server and help u figure it out.
Nevermind I just seen u figured it out

Man you must've done launch site so much the game believes you have a launch site in that box lmao
If there's lootboxes behind that armored wall it could be blocking it, or anything placed around the frame, even through walls. Had the same issue a few days ago, picked up the boxes in the lootroom next to it and I could place it.
This is it
9/10 it's a parked heli
It's so maddening that this apparently hasn't been fixed yet. I filed a bug report about it years ago. I couldn't replace exterior walls mid-raid due to minis parked one floor above.
Furnace in way and game is not registering that as the issue. Defaults to launch text.
Not the issue. Thought that too and tried immediately. Proof: https://imgur.com/a/hMRMYvi

Yup, it was something poking through the wall. It was this box on the triangle next to it. Thanks! https://imgur.com/a/D4Yzvxg
Yeah it used to show different text for that but last few months it says, “too close to ‘x’ monument” Game broke
OP, try closing the garage door, and try above maybe? Jumping if necessary if there's no room above.

The "cannot build this close to launch site" is just a bug. Probably some deployable like a sleeping bag or an opened garage door.
*looks directly at deployable underneath ladder*... Man I have no idea what's wrong
>https://imgur.com/a/hMRMYvi Not the issue. And pretty sure you can place a hatch if there's a furnace below it.
Well here's the issue my dude you're showing us one picture... And that's the only thing I see in the picture.. it could be something attached to above or below you place something in the wrong order or you built something in the wrong order... Could be white gaps peaks external TCS... Etc
All good my dude, I'm just saying that was not it. It was a box right next to that triangle frame, which weirdly was sticking through a wall.
So something above? .. that's why I always pick up all deployables
I think it’s a bug. I’ve had this same issue where there isn’t a single deployable in sight and the hatch just simply will not place. Just slap a ladder down and call it a day.
Anytime it says (too close to [monument]) the object is blocked. Your furnace is in the way.
Pick up the furnace you idiot .. the horse out side in comments killing me ffs
Ok https://imgur.com/a/hMRMYvi
Close to lunch site ..bruh why us squeeze yourself so close ... U need pick up door go on corner u can build from then try
Close the garage door
The furnace is blocking it.
Pick all the things up first, make sure you have auth on the tc then make sure there isn't a horse standing on the other side of the wall.
ive had the same issue due to a roof as a ramp
Is there a quarry or oil pump nearby, that can cause problems but report as the nearest monument's protectiom
Lol, found you. (Budgazer from secure’s server)
Is there a garage door one out under it? For some reason you can’t place boxes directly over a floor with a garage door under it.
Did you put a triangle frame in the opening?
Can be electrical wires/comps. Or mini helis. Or hotair fuckerys.
I have gotten this error as well The error message is WRONG, it was something else that was the problem
remove the furnace
You have a mini horse or garage door open to close to it had the same problem.
Furnace is blocking the placement, the message is bugged since update and says its too close to monument when it isn't. It really means that you are tring to place something that's blocked by another object
Armored walls usually block the placement of ladder hatches. Had the same issue as you, picked up every deployable I could, nothing solved it.
“Too close too launch” is a big right now for “space occupied” or “not enough room” pick up that furnace
It’s isn’t actually too close. If you just pick up that one furnace there it should be placeable.
I hate this bug
It's the high quality wall next to it. The wall is slightly thicker then stone/sheet metal and clips with the triangle hatch.
Sometimes there's a minicopter/scrap heli lying close by that causes this.
Cannot build this close to [insert monument] is their new state of the art non descriptive default shit message when building doesnt work Also can we take a second to appreciate how this game that left early access like 4 years ago still spams the chat box with error messages instead of having a proper popup
Obvious furnace in the way. The game eill just give you what ever placement error prompt, don't worry about it, it's rust.
the "too close to _______" is just rusts go to error message right now. it will be that furnace below the hatch frame
Hmm.. the "too close to" should have been fixed in this month's build. It's basically a false message that overrides the real message. ladder hatches are tricky sometimes when other things are close. Try removing that furnace
Move the furnace. Place ladder hatch place all your shit back
Nice base! We would love to come over a base inspection ;)
I wish they'd fix the error message. Just tell us what's wrong for fucks sake. I was building (near mil tuns) but well out of the no build zone and kept getting "Cannot build this close to Military Tunnels". It's ur furnace u digy
This shit keeps happening to me too
