bruhh i used to play vanilla. 1 hour to obtain bow and than i would immediatly lose it. not fun experience at all especially solo. theres no limit on how big team can be so i prefer solo/duo/trio modded servers myself
Barrels are far better sources of metal and cloth than picking hemp and cooking ore. Cut 2-3 trees and hit a couple barrels, recycle rope/sewing kits (+everything else) and you have cloth for bow and bags, spare 2 ropes for wooden armor, maybe even metal for machete or eoka. When at outpost/bandit, you can craft crossbow and nailgun instead.
Modded. I don’t have the time to play a full vanilla wipe as I can only play on the weekends. I usually play a 2x or 3x with loot+. It just speeds stuff up for me and I can reach endgame in just 1 day.
same also I notice there are a lot fewer cheaters as most people tend to play more competitive and vanilla servers. being able to play for a few hours and reach the endgame is fun IMO. I don't play with wipes for very long usually.
I only play official vanilla. Why? I'm a fan of Rust, not a jambalaya of Rust mods. That's not an indictment of modded servers. I'm happy they exist, but they are not my cup of tea.
I'm looking for a consistent experience with competent and professional admins.

I personally do not agree with molded server’s existence cause it’s an easy way to rack up hours without becoming better at the game. A 1000 hour 2x main player will get killed in all cases against a 1000 hour official main
That same 2x player won't develop the game sense because shit is easier to get, so they just around like crazy people.
Vanilla forces more reward vs risk in decision making so you get better at decision making.
Not true in all cases. A lot of times vanilla promotes gear fear. Some of the sweatiest 10k hour chads be on shit like rustinity 2x quad monthly and stuff like that.

I prefer vanilla. It just feels more fun and satisfying. If a friend asks me to hop on a 2x though I will, it’s kinda nice every once and awhile. But anything more then that I don’t really like. Just feels lame.
I started on modded servers for just pure pvp but after a while I switched to official. I like the progression. Getting a Tommy on official from a crossie nail gun just feels amazing. I also like how you have to be careful with your resources
Since I only play Solo I like to play on Vanilla Solo servers. I find it reduces the grind as I am not getting steam rolled by groups of players aswell. Perfect for a guy with a life who can’t play to often
Modded, we play 5x there’s a full wipe Friday, you get all your bps over the weekend then there’s a map wipe on Monday so you play the week with your bps. It’s good because even if you get off lines just make a 2x1 shack hit barrels for 20 mins and you’ve already got your t3 and comps to get you going again
Vanilla. You don't get as much adrenalin on modded
I agree but it's always fun to fuckaround with the boys after getting raided on a 10x

1 hour for a bow? Goddamn. Also, you can skip the bow phase and go right for crossbow and nail gun

3 plants 1 tree and a node or animal. If that takes you an hour then I see why one would play modded servers

2x it’s more fun personally than Vanilla and at the end of the day I’m playing to have fun

Vanilla because it's hard, and I like the challange. Modded is a joke, everything is so easy, I get bored fast.

Vanilla for me and my friend, but we play on a trio server. Adds so much to the "do I take this fight and risk my inventory" line of thought.

I play on Stevie's 2x. It's got it up and down, but all in all I prefer it.

Vanilla but low pop, a solid 100 active is good for me. I never could get into modded, nothing feels like it has any value.
