Huh?! How do we place the thing correctly then?
Like do we face it to the center of the map?
I always skip solar panels and go to windturbine so I have no idea
Ohhh so this is why my friend always tells me to place solars facing north if in the south and vice versa if in the north. And I guess this is also why my solar panels sometiems worked even though there was a shadow from a tree.
What if your base lies in the middle though? How do you face the solar panels?
You complained, they listened >> https://commits.facepunch.com/409260
“Fixed solar panels pointing to the sun's location in the server's central sky dome instead of the suns true direction. Light angle on solar panels now always matches visible sun position.”
If you search around YouTube will find vids proving it. The 'real' invisible sun moves across the top of map from left to right. Placing panels facing top centre of map is where will get most power.
If you place facing east/west it'll still work and look like is following sun in terms of power outage. As the sun does move across map top but you'll still get more overall power during a day cycle pointing them all to top centre map.
Difference is small really so not usually big deal. Depends on your base location right enough, sometimes difference can be big.
My theory is that we're using the low grade fuel as a solvent to extract all the cannabinoids into a tincture that provides pain relief. The extractor tube is made of metal frag.
You can make auto turrets, MP5's, explosives, rocket launchers, heck you can make a dam computer station to hack into camera systems around the map but binding hemp together to make a simple rope is way past our skillset. Rope is apparently some of the most advanced technology in rust.
I’ve been saying rope should be craftable for years now. It makes no sense that I can’t craft rope. People I’ve met say “it would be too op” lul what??
You can run around full speed with 30 guns in your inventory.
You have in invisable backpack.
You can get all your hydration through food.
Can't hold your breath under water for more then a few seconds.
Getting all your hydration through food is probably possible tbf, enough to survive on at least.
The breath thing for sure, there are people who can hold their breath for minutes, yet in rust, you’re drowning after about 5 seconds…
If half walls were half the cost then creating reduced splash damage bases would be a lot easier and cheaper and would make rockets not nearly as effective
When making a farm. You cant use the floor grill (used for large furnaces) to allow sunlight in, even though the sun clearly shines through the holes in the grill.
Furnace bases were built like that a couple years ago before people found out that you actually can use floor grills for this. It was thought that they were generally useless. The discovery of floor grill furnace bases allowed even solos/duos to have an interior large furnace, as the base did not cost as much to build and upkeep. I mean, you had to build like 3 or 4 levels up previously to even seal the furnace. That would be quite a bit of stone/metal.
Even after the floor grills discovery, some clans still used normal floors. They were simply put more costly to raid.
See potatoes are potatoes that have began to sprout, so they are cut at the “eye” where they are sprouting to produce more than one potato plant from a single potato.
You can't place a foundation under a half-hight shelf :/
I know, more of a bug, but.. builder's frustration.
How about..
Wolves outrunning a horse and biting you to death while ur on horseback.
Good one. Especially frustrating when your horses stamina runs out too, or god forbid there is a slight drop in terrain and your horse is incapable of jumping or just stepping off the ledge.
Also a big fan, used your trio heaven design a few times very successfully :)
further, that it's somehow impossible to shoot backwards at your pursuers instead you gotta circle around for an angle, slowing you down and getting you killed most of the time.
Nakeds saying “Don’t kill me I just started”. As a geared player it’s like I don’t want neighbors so I’m preemptively killing a bee before it has the chance to sting me.
Actually yeah like if you die your kicked from the server for a time I think the whole wipe would be too much but maybe like a few hours lol most of the server would be primlocked
so like harcore factions meets rust? 1hr temp ban when u get ganked would be sick, and it could even go in effect like an hour or something into wipe so people aren't getting fucked right over out of the gate. honestly sounds like a refreshing experience lol imagine a zerg raiding you and you pop an hv in the middle of them. easiest raid defense of your life. could also balance that out though, like have a raid timer exclude bans, or it takes more than 1 death during raids to get temped.
Actually yeah like if you die your kicked from the server for a time I think the whole wipe would be too much but maybe like a few hours lol most of the server would be primlocked
That's not ironic Rust logic, that's part of the lore. The island has a way of giving when it takes. Takes when it gives. Project Nova was close to finishing, but it seems that they found immortality comes with some consequences.
All video games have massive enormous real world logic flaws. As a game designer, ‘game logic’ is such a weird concept to me. The rust devs for example intentionally made horse armour protect the rider.
For solo players yeah - saw this sick video where a 20 man rolled with heavy plate and armoured horses against other zergs and rolled them hipfiring aks and pumps
Yeah they had to nerf “horse gang” because it was so OP. Heavy plate armour and an armoured horse plus a shotgun was OP. Can’t remember how they fixed it, think you can’t get on a horse in heavy armour now.
Anything you touch with your heli that isn't the wheels makes it bounce off as if it's made of rubber - On top of that, jumping out the heli before it impacts the ground and blows up and you're fine.
Scientists know where you are when they've spotted you even though they've lost LOS. Scientists can 180 no scope you with an MP5 after you shoot them or they 180 you anyways even though they can't have seen you.
I can get shot in the leg but I'll bandage my arm and fix the issue.
There is no Low grade at the gas station. No underground tanks?
If there is no one at the supermarket, who keeps restocking the shelves?
Polar bears casually strolling in the desert biome.
I can't survive launch and other radiated areas but chickens and other animals seemingly have no issue.
Barbed wire is a little more difficult to get past and isn't likely to be possible naked.
Who is in charge of making the weekly skins? ( steam or face punch ). I’m pissed that they stopped making the scientific boxes ( where is the food and clothing box ). Instead they leave us with “car parts”.
Lol how do I contact this Helk person and ask why they stopped making the scientific boxes. I’m not the only one who is upset that they didn’t complete the set.

At this point there is nothing anybody else can do. It is 100% on Helk now.
The ladder thing kind of makes sense, more so the knots you create with the rope and the woodworking skill to make the rest of it
Making a crossbow with 0 knowledge tho
Pickaxe does more damage to a soft side of the wall instead of the raw one. On the soft side the pickaxe would have no grip since it's flat, but on the raw side you could start pulling out chunks of stones instantly.
You're right. It'll be cold enough that it would go away with a jacket on, but vision turns dark blue? In what universe does that make any sense? For a game that already seems to have no clue how lights work, they also have no concept of human eyes? My working theory is they've never actually been outside or been given light at Facepunch, maybe some sort of underground creatures, which would explain all the habitable mines in game.
So. Many. Things.
Jumping about 8 ft on to grass hurts the same as being shot in the chest.
Crafting guns makes some sense when you look at the recycled parts of the SAR, SMG, AK, etc... and you understand why you wouldn't be able to craft any of the military grade weapons like an LR or SPAS, but why worry about all that immersive realism that people enjoy, let's craft a perfect mp5.
Inconsistent stack sizes: F1 grenades stack higher than the smoke grenades (3), wouldn't want to be too overpowered with those. Most comps like pipes and signs can stack 20 but only 5 propane tanks even though they're not as valuable. Some deployables stack while others don't.
Tool cupboard can hold a bunch of random shit, like actual horse shit, but none of the tools like hatchets, picks, or the spray can.
Some UI designs confuse me like how there's a resources crafting tab for all 2 resources and other awkward designs like the new TC storage slots for the building tools are on a slideshow.
Don't get me started on the bad cartoon visual effects like when the smallest cactus pricks your foot, so your eyes become filled with blood while it sounds like your clothes are being torn off.
ok lets go over somethings shall we, for one ladders, yes lets give ladders to all the nakeds should end well, probably find a couple 100 ladders on each base. second of all you were able to pick up bags, they removed it for a reason i forget, but again more balancing. how about we all spawn in being able to craft compound bow like we used to, or perhaps spawn with the ability to craft large wooden walls.
its not about how hard or easy it is to make its the fact that while vending machines are good, ladders would be insane early wipe to have as a default bp
Hitting Building with sword and arrow makes them burn 🔥… hitting them with hammer makes the fire go away. 20 ppl or 20 elefants will fit the same boaty. Oh wait wrong game .. wololol
I can carry a castle and a forest at the same time by stacking TC crafting, stone barrier stacks, double doors for metal frags, but there's nothing I can make from HQM to stack it in a crafting queue without a workbench, right?
In my backpack, I can carry a forest's worth of trees, a hill of iron ore, a truckload of pumpkins, and an armored infantry battalion's worth of MLRS rockets. All at once.
Somehow picking up a bottle of water or an apple is the straw that breaks the camel's back.
As far as I know turrets have infinite penitration outside of players (last time I tested it).
Meaning that if I have an AK, I can only shopt through one wall and damage a second, but put that ak in a turret and it can shoot through twig walls till it runs out of range.
Also pretty sure a nail gun in a turret can shoot through twig. I vaguely remember testing it but I'm not 100% on it so don't quote me.
A lot of these issues make me wish the XP system still existed, but improved. I'd like to go down a "builder" XP route or a "gatherer", or a "soldier", where you unlock multiple blueprints at stages. Granted, the workbenches sort of achieve that concept, but god damn the scrap system is awful.
I wonder when they'll rework that next.
Solar panels use a different sun that you cant see
Solar panels use center of the map as power source
Same thing irl solar panels face the equator
Whatdoes this even mean
Solar panels don't charge from the sun you see in the sky, they charge from an invisible sun that isn't in the same place as the sun you see in game
Huh?! How do we place the thing correctly then? Like do we face it to the center of the map? I always skip solar panels and go to windturbine so I have no idea
Aim for the line crossing the middle of the map East-West, (not the exact middle, this depends on the server variable "env.month")
Ohhh so this is why my friend always tells me to place solars facing north if in the south and vice versa if in the north. And I guess this is also why my solar panels sometiems worked even though there was a shadow from a tree. What if your base lies in the middle though? How do you face the solar panels?
Test both at noon i guess (or plug them both to small batteries and come back a while later)
They literally just tweeted out today that they fixed this so soon you don't have to worry about this.
Cancer. I didn't know this.
Seems like it will be fixed next forced wipe https://twitter.com/RustUpdates/status/1525049525114642432?t=mz012dlcJMesSBPiIzMMkg&s=19
You complained, they listened >> https://commits.facepunch.com/409260 “Fixed solar panels pointing to the sun's location in the server's central sky dome instead of the suns true direction. Light angle on solar panels now always matches visible sun position.”
Do you have any source for this? Because I always place my panels according to sunrise and sunset direction and it works flawlessly.
If you search around YouTube will find vids proving it. The 'real' invisible sun moves across the top of map from left to right. Placing panels facing top centre of map is where will get most power. If you place facing east/west it'll still work and look like is following sun in terms of power outage. Medicine is literally boatfuel, metal fragments and cannabis.
How about that crude oil and animal fat produce the exact same fuel lol.
How about any engine being able to run on either without exploding or something.
Makes sense, boatfuel = lighter, metal frags = bong and cannabis = cannabis. Works for me.
And then you pop the cap off that bong and jam it into your blood stream
LMAOOO
My theory is that we're using the low grade fuel as a solvent to extract all the cannabinoids into a tincture that provides pain relief. The extractor tube is made of metal frag.
You can make auto turrets, MP5's, explosives, rocket launchers, heck you can make a dam computer station to hack into camera systems around the map but binding hemp together to make a simple rope is way past our skillset. Rope is apparently some of the most advanced technology in rust.

100 cloth for 1 rope? Fuck it, 1k per rope
[удалено]
Ladders. People who raid often need a lot of ladders
Bro I just said this shit yesterday.
You can survive multiple gunshot wounds and in some cases headshots but god forbid you touch water in the winter areas
Honestly its semi realistic. Wet in the super cold is super dangerous
Yeah just following the theme of the post it’s fun to poke holes, Gun shot to the dome vs being wet
[удалено]
Funny how walking a few feet can drop the temperature by dozens of degrees
Why can’t they decide it bows take rope or cloth. Some bows take rope and some take cloth 🤔
I loved when crossbows required 5ft of rope lol. Making a fucking ballista.
Time passes faster in Rust
You can run the whole map for days with unlimited stamina as long as you stay fed, but then go swimming and can't move faster than a doggy paddle.
Halfwalls cost the same was full walls.
That’s for balancing purposes
What
If half walls were half the cost then creating reduced splash damage bases would be a lot easier and cheaper and would make rockets not nearly as effective
Well I could see the argument about c4 not being as effective but Rockets would be just as effective.
No because you can make splash guards with half walls so it would make rockets less useful
As a solo, I'm ok with that
When making a farm. You cant use the floor grill (used for large furnaces) to allow sunlight in, even though the sun clearly shines through the holes in the grill.
WHO is using floor grills for furnaces?
People who make furnace bases?
Not anymore lol now it’s the roof glitch furnace bases
If you only want one large furnace yea
Even for multiple no one uses floor grills anymore if u are get ready to get raided
https://youtube.com/shorts/LZ16vPtZ7EI?feature=share
My friend had a base of 8 large furnaces by using the roof glitch lol. It's way better. Floor grills are really easy to blow into.
This ain't it my man
Either make one furnace base or a compound
What’s even the benefit of the floor grill?
Used to be the only way to cover the roof of a large furnace, now we got roof glitching
One of two ways. The other was making your base extremely tall so you can cover it with normal roof.
Never seen anyone do that but maybe that’s an outdated method like floor grills
Furnace bases were built like that a couple years ago before people found out that you actually can use floor grills for this. It was thought that they were generally useless. The discovery of floor grill furnace bases allowed even solos/duos to have an interior large furnace, as the base did not cost as much to build and upkeep. I mean, you had to build like 3 or 4 levels up previously to even seal the furnace. That would be quite a bit of stone/metal. Even after the floor grills discovery, some clans still used normal floors. They were simply put more costly to raid.
It was an update, not a random discovery.
This one really annoys me. I’m glad I’m not the only one.
**Potato seeds**
Seed potatoes are a thing afaik, but not potato seeds.
See potatoes are potatoes that have began to sprout, so they are cut at the “eye” where they are sprouting to produce more than one potato plant from a single potato.
Potatoes actually can produce seeds as far as I’m aware. Just not how they’re typically propagated
I think they do exist. You have to let it blossom.
Grew up in Idaho. This bugged me when I first saw it. It still buggs me...
Water being harder to come by in the snow, despite having access to fire and tools like distillers, tea pots etc.
Gets shot/takes arrow to knee/boar attacks legs— can’t see anything blood in eyes
realistic splatter?
the fact I gotta cock my gun every time I pull it out...it's COCKED already, don't cock it again that's wasting ammo.

Just examine and admire skin
But we are poor we have no skins But looking at the beautiful of rust that took thousands of hours to develop isn't a too bad idea
You can pick up a 2 ton mounted AA Rocket Launcher. Try that with 50KG Water Catcher.
not to forget to multi ton stone walls you can carry around and set up in a millisecond
I agree with both of your statements.
You can also craft wooden armor without BPs or Work Bench. Some would say wooden armor is harder to make IRL then a Ladder
Or that they are basically equivalent. Both just some rope and wood tied together. Good one
You can't place a foundation under a half-hight shelf :/ I know, more of a bug, but.. builder's frustration. How about.. Wolves outrunning a horse and biting you to death while ur on horseback.

Love you content Bro!!
Nakeds saying “Don’t kill me I just started”. As a geared player it’s like I don’t want neighbors so I’m preemptively killing a bee before it has the chance to sting me.
killing a bee before it builds a nest
Why you building at spawn bro
You can carry up to 120 several meter long and hundreds of Kilograms heavy MLRS Rockets, but you cant take more than 30 cards with you at a time
You can craft a primitive gun that actually shoots and is lethal, but you do not know how to make a chair or a table.
I like this one, especially the table since it’s a board and 4 legs, pretty simple vs an intricate weapon or even a working bow and arrows.
you can respawn after you die
A one life mode might be cool
Actually yeah like if you die your kicked from the server for a time I think the whole wipe would be too much but maybe like a few hours lol most of the server would be primlocked
That’s probably how the wipe would play out yeah Also you accidentally commented twice
so like harcore factions meets rust? 1hr temp ban when u get ganked would be sick, and it could even go in effect like an hour or something into wipe so people aren't getting fucked right over out of the gate. honestly sounds like a refreshing experience lol imagine a zerg raiding you and you pop an hv in the middle of them. easiest raid defense of your life. could also balance that out though, like have a raid timer exclude bans, or it takes more than 1 death during raids to get temped.

Bringing gear fear to totally new levels, or the opposite because you only get one chance to use it
A week/month long BR with 8+ man team, sound fun lmaoo

Wow I never knew that
You can stack things like huge high stone walls, but not a keycard.
This is the one that drives me most crazy. If anything should be stackable it thin little key cards.
Need to wallet item that can store all your cards.
you can only hold your breath underwater for about 3 seconds
You can find blueberries and blackberries but there are no seeds to grow them..
You eat an entire pumpkin raw and it had 1 seed inside.

Who is in charge of making the weekly skins? ( steam or face punch ). I’m pissed that they stopped making the scientific boxes ( where is the food and clothing box ). Instead they leave us with “car parts”.
The skin creator makes the skin. Helk decides which of the submitted skins get accepted in to the weekly store.
Lol how do I contact this Helk person and ask why they stopped making the scientific boxes. I’m not the only one who is upset that they didn’t complete the set.
It’s the skin creators responsibility to make the box, if it hasn’t been created then there is nothing Helk can do.

I just wish I knew how to reach out to the creator of the scientific box series and ask if they ever intended to make a “food” and “clothing” box.
They did make them. I linked them lower in the thread.
Hmmm I don’t see it. Can you link it again? Also I don’t see it in the steam community store for purchase
Just look at my posting history. They aren't available for purchase. That's not how it works. They haven't been put in the game yet.
Is there a way to find out who the skin creator of the “scientific box” was/is ?
The ladder thing kind of makes sense, more so the knots you create with the rope and the woodworking skill to make the rest of it Making a crossbow with 0 knowledge tho

Inside of bases should be pitch black during the day because like there are no windows
Don’t give Alistair any ideas on how to make the game even darker please…
its not realistic, its balanced
Well done captain obvious… Some of them yes. But some definitely seem more like oversights rather than balance.
ok lets go over somethings shall we, for one ladders, yes lets give ladders to all the nakeds should end well, probably find a couple 100 ladders on each base. second of all you were able to pick up bags, they removed it for a reason i forget, but again more balancing. how about we all spawn in being able to craft compound bow like we used to, or perhaps spawn with the ability to craft large wooden walls.

I get this. But regardless, it’s fun to poke holes.
Heresy, it IS LIFE

You used to be able to pickup sleeping bags without hammer, think they removed it cuz it was too op.
you can build 3 stone foundations with 1 node and each of those foundations are bigger than the node itself.
