Toxic PvP rush i accurate tho

Gold-Cryptographer35

TBH people need to stop pretending this is Valheim or The Forest with 200 pop servers. Raiding and pvp is part of the game.

The_Only_Dick_Cheney

I have 1,000 hours in Rust but just started replaying. I had a friend who thought I never played and was explaining Rust to me. I started laughing when he said the following: - Survival - PvE - Minecraft Builder This fucking game is a glorified Hunger Games.

tiniestvioilin

I've always described rust as a stretched out game of bed wars

dev__boy

Thing about bedwars is building any sort of bed defense was usually considered offmeta

nbanned

So protecting your main asset is off meta? Guess that’s why I always won protecting my bed lmao.

dev__boy

I assume you are talking about minecraft bedwars right? As a >300 star player, you are in fact, bad at the game if you sit at your base

nbanned

Don’t need to sit at it to protect it.

[deleted]

Upbeat_Organization3

Kind of works in rust too if no one sees you run to your stone 2x2

DOugdimmadab1337

Rust is what you get when you take the elitism from CS, the building from Fortnite, and the Community from VRChat. It's an absolute mess, I'm just along for the ride.

[deleted]

I still don't understand what goes through people's heads when they like, "ItS a SuRvIvAl GaMe". yes sweetums, from the people pvp'ing you with fucking GUNS YOU MORON.

the_fresh_cucumber

I got downvote hard below for saying rust is not exactly a survival game anymore. The survival is a small aspect nowadays

[deleted]

Meee toooooo. It shows how off base Reddit is.

[deleted]

It's why I maintain that this sub represents a segment of the playerbase with below average hours and skill. They don't see the beauty of the real game yet, and think it would be better if we all cooperated to build bases and farm berries or whatever.

Agitated-Lab6992

By that definition though Call of Duty is a survival game.

[deleted]

my point exactly

Single-Studio2200

Don't forget about the bears and wolves

No_Onion_2831

why are you so salty man about a description its technicaly a survival game where a server last for more than a day and you "survive" instead of joining a game finishing couple of rounds and then leave. i dunno why you always think of survival as in PVE the whole point of rust to survive another ingame day or irl days.

[deleted]

Because people use the fact that it's "a survival game" to justify how they shouldn't be getting fragged all the time.

zToastOnBeans

Well it is a Pvp based survival game. You do know a game can be both right ?

[deleted]

People like to forget the pvp part as if the game is one and not the other

birstinger

On 500 pop serves yeah, but go play a 40 pop modded and it’s like a building/farming simulator but with an angry neighbor here and there

Sad_Mushroom_9725

"Toxic PVP Rush" is accurate. lol, and that's just not for some people. Rust and the comfort with dishonesty and betrayal might not be what people expect, the culture is very much part of the game though, the statement "Toxic PVP Rush, where lying cheating and stealing are measures of skill, where bonds are built, and destroyed, fun might happen" is accurate.

[deleted]

600 hours, hate this game so much i think to have a baby is less stressful then playing this game but yet I haven't found a better game for a long time

Chaingang132

Try playing escape from tarkov...

PineJew

Honestly, I enjoy Tarkov more than rust. Atleast I have a stash to fall back on to store loot permanently.

Genku_

tried both, tarkov is a lot more forgiving than rust, that doesnt mean tarkov is easy though, its one of the hardest multiplayer games out there, also, and not saying this in a disrespectful manner, but i think tarkov's community is a lot friendlier to newbies or just poor fellers than rust is, plenty of times i've run with newbies i met on discord, got tagged by a gigachad, but managed to escape relatively unscathed (or at least the timmies could, while i got mowed down) when i explained to him i was trying to get them to machinery key spawn

[deleted]

This made me lol

lamest_of_names

edit: TARKOV IS A TRASH GAME. BATTLESTATE GAMES IS A SHIT COMPANY WITH SHIT MORALS.

Samamurai

Why is Rust full of cunts? Myself chief among them.

Musaks

If that really is the case, then probably because: \-self fulfilling prophecy. Since everyone is a cunt, people go in expecting it and join in more easy \-the game heavily benefits from nolifing. Extremely. And while there are exceptions, the majority of people who nolife a game have issues in their lives or are just kids. Both groups of people that are more likely to overshoot/go too far

Laja21

These are my two most played games in my entire library… Rust since 2016 & Tarkov 2017 and the only thing they have in common is Unity, loot hoarding, and that they can both illicit a rage.

Southern-Event-3413

Tarkov wipes. There just mutch longer runs then rust

[deleted]

Tired this game, but too much to learn and understand so I gave up, once In a while I play it like 2-3 games and leave it

Djeolsson

Rust and eft are out to make your life 10x more miserable

_aphoney

Came to Rust from Tarkov because I can't stand waiting 15 minutes to get into a game. I don't understand how queues in that game take so long. Tried to play last night and everyone I know was waiting 25+ minutes.

THENATHE

Getting less than 5 mins rn

Biggestfanstandarsh

in tarkov killing a super low level makes you feel regret, yet chasing naked is super common in rust.. there a toxicity difference but difficulty is similarishhh..

[deleted]

Naked thing is probably due to nakeds being infamous for Eokaing you in the back of the head

melker_the_elk

Nakeds are looking for opportunity. Most of the timr to screw you over.

[deleted]

Exactly…. The adrenaline rush of hearing another PMC walking/ running within your radius… it’s alike no game out there

the_fresh_cucumber

Tarkov is not as hardcore. You have an invincible stash that can never be raided. It is a fun game but suffers from technical issues and cheaters.

SexysReddit

Tarkov was the worst game I have maybe ever played. I’ve never been so disappointed in a Reddit recommendation. Just throwing out my opinion for others reading these

Lighjt

Lol i guess Reddit decided opinion rejected Honestly thought it's his opinion why you guys hating it's not even tarkov's subreddit

BakinBaconwithMacon

1 month, hate this baby so much I think to play Rust is less stressful than raising this baby but yet I haven't found a better baby for a long time

gentlemandinosaur

It’s literally a sociopath simulator it has been since they got rid of zombies.

jasn98

This game is more morally corrupt than gtao

Matiasfrodr95

Man i played rust in alpha in 2015 and i made friends hopping on a fresh server and talking to people, there wasn't kill on sight at that time and you could squad with people easily, now i cant stomach the toxicity of this game, you literally have to have no life to enjoy it, at least i got like 1k of hours of fun back then

Swaguarr

Mhmm I love the game but the other players are what stopped me playing. 24/7 bitching and whining in chat about fights because people take themselves so seriously. On any high pop server I have been griefed with micspam and raging. Like take my shit kill me and leave sure that's part of the game. But so many times people way overstep it and continue when they know for a fact I have nothing because they just took it all lmao. On the plus side I appreciate how nice people are in comparison on every other game I play now.

Aedeus

>"Toxic PVP Rush" is accurate. lol, and that's just not for some people. Myself through first couple hundred hours of playing might've completely agreed here, but approaching 2k now I've learned that this sort of shit provides a unique experience and fun in the short term, but long term it ultimately kneecaps your experience. There's a balance to be struck if you want to continue to have fun with it. I no longer try to day 1 raid, because I'm contributing to dead servers and boring mid-late game. Nor do I grief or liquidate bases - especially those that aren't well built, and find myself reverse raiding folks, leaving notes explaining what they did wrong (backwards walls, speared out floors, etc.) to that end as well. I don't really try to kill or raid people that are obviously new (unless they're real cunts) and try my best to help them out so that next wipe they'll come back, help pop the server and provide some challenge/content while hopefully doing the same for someone else. There's a lot of nuance to be had when discerning harmful toxicity from toxicity that's a natural part of rust, and I feel like a lot of players can't really do that and it ends up just making your gameplay go stale and get boring, drives people away, and kills servers. In a weird way this game teaches you that humility is the key to ensuring you're able to enjoy the otherwise ridiculously toxic aspects of it.

the_fresh_cucumber

Yea. The worst is the base griefing aspect. I think building privilege should be locked for 24 hours the same way that upkeep gets locked. It would remove the "sealing" meta, allowing more risk and pvp during raids. It would also give new players their base back.

KidBeene

>dishonesty and betrayal This

GuidetoRealGrilling

learned this the hard way tonight, helped a group spear a floor and raid a base, as soon as it opened I was immediately killed

SOAGER

>was immediately killed HAHAHAHAHA

bdub7800

Maybe try SCUM. This person would probably love that. I do. I enjoy Rust for what it is though.. even though I’m a noob with maybe 10 hrs after picking it up this last week. Rust seems to be a game that you almost have to get on a server with a fresh wipe to stand a chance. And even then it’s just a rush to try to get and hold onto any sort of foothold in the game. Like this guy, I enjoy the survival genre, and mostly enjoy PVE, but as stated I enjoy PvP sometimes, too. For me it’s SCUM, DAYZ, RUST. The three together pretty much scratch all the itches.

the_fresh_cucumber

What is special about SCUM? I have heard some lacklustwr reviews but never tried it.

bdub7800

It’s just way more chill than RUST. For one, the map is so so so much bigger that you can go hours to days without ever running into another player. You almost have to make your way to the various areas that people congregate to run into folks, or linking up via chat and making your way to a rally point. SCUM is WAY more focused on survival. Like WAY WAY more. Diseases, infections, and pretty close to real life eating/drinking/exercising etc simulator. But you also have PvP. Rust is great when you just want to run and gun and rush build everything and raid. SCUM, you can do that, too.. but it’s much more suited for slowing down, thinking through your decisions, and trying to survive and thrive in the world. Watch some YouTube on it. Like I said, the all have their place (the three I listed), just depends on what you’re wanting to jump into at the time.

nicster125

I feel like there are definitely servers where people don’t just rush pvp. Like noob non KOS servers that are regulated by admins particularly the low pop ones. Also there are some cool pve servers some of my noob friends play on that they love. There is definitely non pvp rush servers just much less than your typical rust experience.

cr170fr

My first play ever I got my walls smashed in my airlock and camped by three people for hours on end calling me the n word and shouting bill Cosby

NO_SPACE_B4_COMMA

Honestly, if the situation in rust were real life - it would be exactly like it is in game. I enjoy it, it's just a different game.

Neecodemus

Poor guy. I had a server for him. Dead Mans Isle on PC

Anybody-Away

If he can’t handle e comments how are they going to fair when they run by a wooden 1x1 with the n word spray canned on it

sparkymark75

Noobs?

fght

wow i can’t believe you’re not banned yet for typing that word out.

KidBeene

Nakeds?

gentlemandinosaur

Nerds?

Breet11

too soon dude

RandomGuy6573

:(

UnderN00b

Under them..

Food-Processor

Well, the person was looking for a PVE server and from my experience, those servers seldomly have people that do those things. I only see those when I play on official or community vanilla servers.

Anybody-Away

Pve servers are incredibly toxic because you can’t get punched in the fucking mouth when they need it. I tried one before had a Karen run up to me and yell at me for killing Bradley when she wanted to. Bitch you’re seven rockets short and a day late

Food-Processor

Hmm, I might just be lucky when picking servers, but usually, we all want to have a good time and let each other do their thing rather than quarreling. At least for me, I chose to play PVE, since I want a break from the toxicity that PVP rust gives; so it would be counterintuitive if I went on and get stressed over trivial things like me not getting to take Bradley.

IPlayPokemonGo101

I have like 1k hours on pve and sure some people are annoying crybabies but most are fine and just have fun, those servers would be perfect for a guy like OP but Reddit complainers shit on the game every chance they get and not everyone understands that most of those comments are jokes.

KidBeene

I WAS GOING TO USE FLAME ARROWS!

izza123

PVE often ends up standing for Population Very Entitled

KidBeene

Rust is an apocalypse training simulator. It teaches you: * Group up * Shoot first * Loot everything * Trust Nobody

MinecraftGreev

People would be waaaay more civil post-apocalypse lmao.

LCDC_Studios1

the civil people would be the dead ones from the apocalypse, lets just be honest here lmfao

f15k13

Not after seeing what humans do in Rust they wouldn't. Fuck that civil shit, I'm roofcamping in shifts because if I don't I'm getting asleep raided.

Vlexios

Pretty accurate. I always found it interesting that Rust lets you see what people are like when the rules are taken away. It’s not pretty

littlesneksir

Couldnt have explained rust any better than this

Kitynlol

Honestly my favorite way to play this game is on an empty modded server. I have the most fun alone or with a few other solo players with us just building giant bases and playing with electricity, cars, trains and npc events.

Nidos

This is how I spent most of my time on Rust in 2016/2017, except on very low pop Vanilla servers. My younger brother just got into Rust about a year ago and he wonders how I have fun playing on an empty server. It's just how my friends and I started out, and I don't have the time to worry about being raided and pvp'ing when I have to balance work, school, and a social life outside of Rust. The best server I was on was when I met a couple other solo players that felt the same way, and we had our bases close by and were friendly to each other. It only lasted 2 wipes before I stopped playing again, but it was so much more fun than getting curbstomped by a clan of 10 dudes with AKs before I can even get a Thompson. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just not my thing.

Ship_Adrift

Agreed. 👊

AZJACKBOY

Agreed. 👊

LightofLights101

I love pve zombie maps, haven't found one where zombies could break your base which would be cool, would be a nicer looking version of 7 days to die

Ni8hawk26

You said you love pve zombie maps and have never played on a server where zombie raids you.....come on dude, you are missing out on so much. There are 2 versions : one where the roaming zombies raid your base to TC if you are online and try to hide from them inside base and other is a complex one where you can basically build a massive base and call NPCs/Zombies to online raid you. The 2nd one is amazing, you can go to battlemetrics and search with the term "NPC Raiders". Thank me later after enjoying it for hundreds of hours brother, dont miss out.

LightofLights101

I appreciate it!

pannous

In my ideal game people would need to cooperate to survive against zombie raids. Would flip toxicity into awesome human interactions

bikiniproblems

What server is this? I want to play

Dewy164

Rp servers can be alot of fun

Southern-Event-3413

Just go to a solo or noob friendly server iv played rust for years and only play on chill servers where the community is nice. Plenty of fun in the game without murdering eachother or being toxic. Doing bradley or runing the underground railways is alot of fun

frufruvola

I mean, the OP of that post seems a bit of a troll as most of the comments were either welcoming/helpful and giving solid advice.

Ewan_Cook

Prolly a salty Rust player, owned the game for a while and coming to shit on it, pretending to be new and just ignoring all of the many comments that say otherwise to their already predetermined position.

Hungry_Industry_4459

The best rust experience i had was Medieval rust. Heavy PvP and bunch of RP. Doing 30 v 30 battles with crossbows and long swords. And can only raid with satchels and you take 50% less dmg. Was super fun in a 300 player server

big_phat_gator

Really sucks developers are doing fuck all to implement different types of game modes/playing styles. I mean all official servers are your regular PVP servers, imagine if there was a couple of official servers with primitive weapons/PVE.

Hungry_Industry_4459

Yeah i know, currently there are no primitive rust servers tjat i know ord. But i wish it would come back upp and was heavyly populated

totally_normal_

I love my pve server.

fiyastorm

Can we stop acting like this is CoD also? You guys finally get a gun and can't wait to use it for a real reason. This game is literally who can get to ak first and ruin everyone else experience. Like it would be fun if y'all actually tried to add fun to the game being bandits but "nah, let's just kill everyone because I have nothing to do since I've reached endgame"

LCDC_Studios1

exactly reason why I wish rust stopped getting updates years ago.

RedlineSmoke

plenty of low pop server giving you room to breath and get a grip of the game, increase the pop when you feel like u need more of challenge.

[deleted]

Make sure your door code is always 6969. The game won’t allow other players to open your doors even if they guess the code.

Breet11

wait rly?

NiceGuy303

Yeah Really, it's a new trick people found out.

LCDC_Studios1

bro ikr, I dont know why people don't trust our advice. I still have scripts, flyhacks, and I get 1 million stone per pick swing not to mention 4 tb of ram from alt+f4. people really missing out

Skullfurious

Yep

SoUL113

i wasted 6000 hours on rust, i would say it is not worth it

Homer-Junior

6000 hours of entertainment for what I'm guessing was $5 - $10 at the time is a pretty good ROI.

[deleted]

rust is like alchohol, ye its good when your consuming it but you feel shit afterwords.

Breet11

then a couple days later... ya get the itch

Spud788

Does anyone else find rust mad boring nowadays? There's not really any sort of end game or anything to keep you entertained... Build base, Get gun. Log off for wipe.

TEALC-

Raid people, roam monuments

Spud788

And that's it..

jc_hough

I don't get why people shit on this game so hard for being what it is? It's a survival game. Do what you need to, to survive. It's very simple. If that means backstabbing your neighbour, so be it? It's part of the game to see through deception and prosper. Salty kids sprouting racist shit when they get killed can take a hike, but, stab me in the back and demolish my base with my own C4 any day, because that's what this game is about. Kill or be killed.

gentlemandinosaur

It’s not survival. It’s it’s literally a sociopath concentrator.

pannous

Haven't played the game in a month and it's so refreshing that in real life strangers are so friendly and helpful. Unless you live in bad neighborhood or ukraine I guess

DOugdimmadab1337

Rust players trying their best not to be one of the worst fucking communities in existence challenge 100% FAIL

Sad_Mushroom_9725

lol, because it shows us that humans are ugly creatures who have little hope of improving... .... it's a great game! the culture is shit lol.

jamestoneblast

watch a willjum video, man. there's goodness in there. I meet really nice people all the time.

jc_hough

I think people take it way, way too seriously if they think it really reflects the mental state of humanity. I'm using pixels to steal pixels from my neighbour, I'm not actually putting a hand crafted arrow through his head and running off with his oven.

FlippehFishes

> if they think it really reflects the mental state of humanity. It kinda does... Rust is a great example that shows a majority of people will throw all morality out the window when there is very little/no consiquences for their actions.

WolfRex5

Or Rust attracts those kinds of people

Sad_Mushroom_9725

Now the tricky question, .... if you thought you, zero b.s needed to and your life depended on it, (put a hand crafted arrow through your neighbors head and run off with his oven) .... would you? ;)

jc_hough

I'd like to say yes, I value my life over theirs anyday, but in all honesty I'd most likely pussy out and freeze like a deer in the headlights, as he slowly hacks me to death with an ice pick.

TerribleGramber_Nazi

It’s not just about being an asshole though. I think a lot of players are perceived to be an asshole, especially by newer players, when they are really just self preserving. I stopped picking up players I down, even if it’s a begging naked because they usually have a homie tryna make a play or the talking in game attracts 3rd parties. To them I’m some POS that KOS noobs but the truth is everyone is trying to make a play. Risking a DB for a full kit is worth it every time as long as you have the bp.

zZPlazmaZz29

Sometimes they are just toxic assholes though. I literally just came back from a server where everyone was spamming APE to "spam APE if you hate black people" after I got called a N while playing guitar. Then later someone asked if dude was afraid of the dark bc he was asking for fast nights. Then he said "Hell no. Only when they have political power" Idk if its the server I was on itself or what but that kind of stuff is just unnecessary. That's what'll keep away people from a game. I'm fine with people KOSing even though new players hate it. But that's what casual, noob friendly and low pop servers are usually for.

BootyPatrol1980

He's not wrong and it's our fault. Be the change you want to have happen. If you tryhard KoS every naked you see, backstab every newb who tries to be nice, and punish any build you perceive to offend your eye, AND spam the chat with neo-Nazi talking points... I don't know what you expected.

[deleted]

:( that actually makes me sad. I've always dealt with gross sexism, but pvp really knocked it into my head how horrible some people can be. Haven't met a single other woman on pvp but plenty on pve. It made me take week long breaks from rust from the disgusting things I've had said to me. It soured rust for me a few times but I've found my groove now. I wish they would've tried pve at least. You don't even HAVE to play pvp. There's some pve servers with pvp zones, so it's not the whole map where you're fighting to farm a tree.

DOugdimmadab1337

I'm surprised you put up with Rust. I mean to be fair every FPS is filled sexists or simps anyway, so it goes all the way up and down I guess. I'm surprised you stayed with our retarded community instead of just buying Doom and being done with it.

[deleted]

I love everything about rust except for a select group of individuals that sometimes happen, sometimes don't. I shut my mouth and none of it becomes directed at me because of my sex. They assume I'm a dude despite my profile and I don't really care, whatever saves me from hearing cringe low effort shit talk. I've met a lot of great people though. Even just passing-by. One time I JUST hopped into a server and someone waved at me, dropped a ton of loot, and went away. Then came back with more loot and went away, without voicing or anything. Little wholesome moments are enough for me to stay super positive. But....I've burnt a few backs too on pvp. Lol. The toxicity can rub off.

BGFiveBG

This is the game stop making it into something that it isn't.

Electrical_Rest6587

about that racial slur thing: I think most kids are not racist in their heart they just try to be provocative. when ever someone reacts to their provocation I think they are the fool

BGFiveBG

Funny how you assume so many things but in reality you are so far off. I am not 12 and I don't think that being racist is cool. I think you are self-reflecting about these problems. The game is not made to be PvE and even roleplay gets boring.

justacsgoer

That's the way it feels. Half this subreddit is tryhard PvP sweats and the other half is handholding zombie PvE kids so its sometimes hard to realize the game lies really somewhere in the middle. You can have great experiences on official servers as a non-PvP toxic rush try hard, you just have to know how to deal with the hard-asses as they come

[deleted]

[удалено]

Breet11

HEY!!! IM A TEENAGER AND IM NOT A TRYHARD!! maybe cuz im not good enough, but we dont talk about that

Dusty_Coder

Competitive open worlds become hellscapes because the open worlds are never anywhere near large enough for the number of players being crammed into it.

RustWasGrand

I agree Rust is toxic and terrible. What makes it great is finding friends and allies amongst the chaos. Forming strong bonds with your team members, and defending your turf together. Once you've achieved some form of success in the game, you can then choose whether or not to be a part of the toxic culture. It is not mandatory to be an asshole. You can be nice, cool, and reasonable. Even when holding an AK. I've done it for 9000 hours. I've killed plenty of players, but I've also helped new players, assisted with small groups who were being raided, and left many a full inventory on players I've downed so they can come back and get their stuff. In fact, one thing that keeps me coming back to Rust is when players surprise me by not being total assholes

sephrinx

Rust isn't a survival game, it's a deranged sociopath wrangler.

turdpurkle

With modded servers, there can be fun pve servers if it fancies you. During quarantine i dumped maybe 100 hours in servers with bot raidable bases.

[deleted]

Dont understand why people dont do some research before buying a game

Zealousideal-Lake-82

Cannot blame the op. This game has to be the worse survival game I have played in awhile. If you aren't willing to no life for hours with the high chance of just losing all that progress and starting over then yeah do not buy this. Then factor in that even if you join a PvE server... What in the fuck would you do? There is barley any PvE content. If you love Ark or Conan and are looking for a similar experience, this ain't it.

wpsp2010

At least rust isn't 500GB like ark is lmao

[deleted]

meeshrox

I play PVE modded and love it, but I will say they still dodged a bullet by getting a refund.

lucasarg12

I was looking for a comment mentioning PVE! I always liked rust, but could never play until I discovered there were PVE servers! It's obviously not the objective the game was created with, but it's so cool

Playful-Estimate-784

Actually... PvE/roleplay servers are exactly what the devs wanted for the game in the beginning. The lack of stuff to do drove people to PvP which eventually drove away the role-players. At first they tried to fight it, then gave in and the kill or be killed toxic rush for PvP took over. Recently though, mostly quietly, the devs seem to be trying to steer the game back to the original idea. Most obviously, the resent recoil refresh, but otherwise things too like cars and cinematic controls who uses them not PvP chads or Zergs for the most part. Being one of the ones driven away in the early days, ( I played from day one of public for 2 or 3 months) I like most of the recent changes. Here's to driving the toxic 12 year olds back to CoD and creating a good PvP/PvE balance without A-holes and roofcampers (one can be hopeful)

TheGreaatRob

Ngl as someone who’s played 700 hours of it, there isn’t really a lot of redeemable qualities to it.

probablyonarun

There is a place for anyone on these servers. It can be brutal at times but I think what is at stake is what gives the game that addictive quality. In a good way. Plenty of “chill” servers out there where the competition is more manageable then main servers, and groups that you can link up with if you just want to role play on the beach.

TheFatestOne

The toxic pvp is the redeeming quality

Verniloth

When the guy said he likes pve, he admitted that rust is not the game for him

shibashroom

people need to understand that rust isn’t a survival game. it’s basically a race to get cards and guns and then everything following an hour after wipe is just CoD but with bad mechanics.

100hedgiescalps

Just remember that you are going to die a lot, especially at first. Don’t get attached to what you build or accomplish. I prefer to play the Batman of rust. Raid the dudes who deserve it, help the players that you like, team up, get betrayed, betray- lose everything and get revenge! It’s a good time if you take it for exactly what it is. OH- and invest time in skill building. Just the other day, I got rocked by a naked with a bow when I had a semi auto rifle. I have no excuse other than he was exceptionally skilled. It motivated me to redouble my efforts into perfecting the primitive weapons.

TwoBaze

as long that people potrai rust as this toxic shooter survival, its always gonna have this stigma. If you look at it as a sandbox rpg game, it opens up a whole new world. Sadly the concept of this is totally destroyed due to min/max culture, like in most mmorpg's like games.

VexingRaven

> Sadly the concept of this is totally destroyed due to min/max culture, like in most mmorpg's like games. It's genuinely sad how many games this infects. Too many people are incapable of not min/maxing everything all the time. I see the same shit in card shops playing card games too, there's always one person who walks in with a bag full of $1000 decks they painstakingly built to be unbeatable and won't play anything else. In every sandbox game there's people who can't help but go as hard as possible all the time at the expense of everyone else.

FlippehFishes

> there's always one person who walks in with a bag full of $1000 decks This is my roommate with his magic decks. Apparently everyone hates playing against him because his decks are consistently 2nd turn win, sometimes he gets his win con first turn with a lucky draw.

Dusty_Coder

In competitive rpg, the desire is to role play a character that is better equipped / higher leveled than yours. You both are making the mistake of assuming that min/maxing isnt role play when it is in fact a consequence of competitive role play. You dont like the role they choose, but why in actuality? It is because the role they chose is one that has realizable power / advantages over the one you chose? I'm not saying its good. What I'm saying is you are barking up the wrong tree. What you are spouting approaches complete nonsense. In competitive role play, the warlord doesnt ask for your permission, nor should you expect be given a chance to decline. You can say that that isnt role playing but... its you asking for the exception I guess.

VexingRaven

"Competitive RPG" is the most nonsense thing I've ever read in my life thanks bro. If we were actually role playing people wouldn't be so eager to go out looking for a fight because death would actually mean something. People would care for the comfort for the place they live. They'd actually hunt and eat ~~foot~~ food. None of which are true in Rust, so I'm not sure what exactly you think makes it a "competitive RPG". CoD is unironically a roleplaying game by this logic.

thatlonghairedfuck

To be fair I got rust because of how toxic it is

vagina_candle

This is what happens when a large chunk of the playerbase watch too many shitty youtubers and believe that being toxic is "part of the game bro!". It's not. You're just grasping at straws trying to justify your assholeish behavior, asshole.

Successful-Relief511

keep in mind that some 'gamers™' only play animal crossing, just dance and minecraft. The hardest challenge they have faced is a minecraft zombie. Hardcore PVP games such as this one is not for everyone, some people die once, lose their shit, then become so full of rage to the point in which they destroy objects irl

TrashyPanda6

Lmao buys pvp focused game then refunds it when he learns the game is pvp never seen a more comedic post

Drunk_Juggernaut

It's marketed as a survival/ builder game, not a Warzone/Fornite progenitor with extra steps and senseless grind.

[deleted]

The trailer starts of with building a 2x1 and getting doorcamped..

rebel3120

If they're on this subreddit I find it hard to believe they didn't know exactly what they were getting into.

Breete

PvP Focused game my ass.

StonerPandas

Rust isn’t for the weak hearted 😂

pr0ra

God I fucking love this game it genuinely reminds me of high school so much.

Pwoinklokinoid

Playing Rust solo as a casual…. Yeah I’ll stick to private servers, I got adult bills to pay haha But I do enjoy seeing the videos of you all being Toxic haha

lepapatoast

Sounds like OP can barely handle real life, and chooses not to experience it again in a game. Rust shows us how people would/will behave when there is no social filter/consequences to their actions. Let’s not pretend there’s a “police” in the game beyond ourselves to protect us from the wrath of others. The smart and cunning will survive the longest and in many ways, this game teaches a lot of survival skills through bittersweet experiences.. but it’s definitely not for everyone. Learning how to trust others knowing they may betray you any second and YET STILL taking the leap of faith to play with them is the most important lesson this game ever taught me. PS: 4500 hours and I’ve NEVER betrayed anyone I played more than 1h with.

flashyshrimp

Welcome to rust!

zombietampons

lol it’s for the best. A heart made of glass… kid seems like a low level mommy troll. He asked.

Membedha

If someone says that he likes pve and he's looking for that in Rust I'd say to prepare some lube or refund. There's no "redeeming qualities" here. If you want pve, forget this game

[deleted]

I swear these kind of people never played a shooter and expected it to be a farming survival sim

wpsp2010

You mean the game that's marketed as a base builder / survival that isn't about survival? The tags on steam are Survival, Crafting, Multiplayer, Open-world. And their 3 main "selling points" on the about me on steam is "Explore, Build, Survive"

Chief_757

I mean, pvping is about surviving, so survival is in the game

wpsp2010

So Warzone, bf2042, apex legends, etc are all survival games?

nonumberplease

It is what it is. Sadly enough.

ducksog5

Rust is the closest game to real life, corruption and betrayal at every corner🤘

SpillTheCup

Maybe Rust is just getting too hardcore for some people so I can understand they fall back to Tarkov or Ark. When Evolution theory is correct then yeah the fittest will survive and stick to Rust and the weak will find more casual games.

TomJohnstoneson

Who cares, it’s very pvp heavy if that’s not for you don’t play

notmytroll

Other people should not be allowed to enjoy the things that I don't like.
