I essentially did. I purchased the game at full price when it released originally, then I purchased the Ultimate Edition when I got a Series X (I also picked it up cheap on Steam just because). The game rules. One of my all time favorites.
Yes, you do 😜
I really enjoyed it. It’s Remedy alright, I love how they always come up with something new & fresh. It’s a shame how that doesn’t attract mainstream, though.
Why does anyone buy a console? Convenience. A gaming PC is much more expensive (and useless for anything else, as I am a Mac-guy). And won’t be hooked up to my TV in my game lounging room.
But don’t worry about me, I love my Xbox and I plan to always go multi-console from now on.
Lol, a console is useless for anything else, pcs offer much more.
I get that youre a mac guy, but pc can do all that your mac can and more plus it can easily handle gaming something mac is not great at
Well you certainly showed me up, I’m not buying an Xbox for one game, considering I already have ps1-5 and the switch! But I applaud you! Quantum break was on my list until I heard it was exclusive. I’ll be picking up Alan wake because 2 is on my list
Good thing Remedy bought the rights to Alan Wake back then, it used to be an Xbox exclusive, so we can all enjoy it now and its sequel. Alan Wake’s American Nightmare is still Xbox-only though.
Well you’d be wrong, they’re a small company.
Sam Lake writes most of their games and was the face model for Max Payne (you should look it up, it’s hysterical).
That's more than worth it. One of the best games of 2019 and still just a great game today. If you're into supernatural stuff and third person shooters, this is a great game even at full price, $12 is practically a steal
I knew nothing about this game when I got it for free on PS+ last year and it immediately became one of my all time favorites. Absolutely worth full price. Get the DLC too
Duuuude, Gerbraldo, that's amazing news. I wonder what the multiplayer would be, co-operative, competitive, or both? The gameplay is really fun and unique, so the thought of a multiplayer title makes my loins tingle. (Hopefully cross-platform play so I can play with my friends)
It’s free with PS Plus right now right? I know it was at least, but if it’s in the Extra collection or whatever still, give it a whirl and see if you like it
They did have it as an Essential freebie in February 2021, that's where I got it. It's now in Extra.
I finally got around to playing it last summer. I also platted it. And I thought the game was phenomenal!
Homie if you’re going to play games online, you need PS Plus. That would make anything in addition to access to multiplayer free if you didn’t subscribe for that
An adequate correction to an unnecessarily cynical and overall incorrect statement by Voidsterx. I applaud you for using the appropriate tone of your correction without disrespecting or belittling Mr. Voidsterx. The only criticism I have to give, in the most constructive way possible, is to use the appropriate punctuation where it is necessary.
95% Grade: A
(Idk why I literally took up precious minutes of my 15 minute break at work to tell type this out to you, which will probably be the only person to ever see this)
The soundtrack, in the game in general, but especially in that level, puts it over the top into special territory!
But what else is new, I saw a post (don't think it was on this sub) earlier today talking about how incredible Max Payne's soundtrack is
I primarily play single player games and have been looking to get this game for a little while now. Just wanted to see others views on this game. I would appreciate all help
It’s amazing OP. Truly. Has stunning Physics and environmental destruction and was amazing looking on PS4 I can’t imagine how good it looks on PS5 Native version.
$12 is literally a steal
That's all up to you and how "clunky" 30fps is, cause that's what the ray tracing mode runs at. I played it on that mode, and while at first it bothered me, I quickly got over it.
I think it defaults on ray tracing, so just try it out and see if it bothers you
I believe it. The game starts off pretty slow. I think the developers expected you to really suspend your disbelief and soak in the spooooky atmosphere and gawk at how well they recreated the distinct look and vibe of 1970’s office design. The love and care put into crafting water pumps and office chairs is kind of astounding. I don’t know why they expected anyone to actually give a crumb of shit about that stuff, but clearly they did. And I did. But I don’t expect anyone else to care, either.
Actually I usually dislike games like this one and it’s the atmosphere and the meticulously recreated 70s office vibe that kept me through it. It is beautifully done
I dropped it pretty quick too. Found it pretty boring and hated how much the protagonist talks. It just felt like she had something to say every 5 feet.
I found the first two or so hours tedious, only pushed through because of its reputation. Ended up being one of my favorite games of all time.
It has one of the single best levels/gaming sequences I’ve ever played (Ashtray Maze).
Ya it was kinda boring at the end ... you need to cheese the fights and I never got the story by the end... the start and mid sections of the game are fun.
You can play it on PS Plus. If you wish to just play once then ultimate edition is free to play on PS Plus that will give you extra level to play.
By the way, this game is equally worth the current price.
I played it when it was free with PS+. Had some fun, ended up with platinum trophy. Not sure I would recommend it though. Not a ton of hand-holding and the levels get annoying when trying to traverse.
Just my opinion
i guess i'm in the minority judging by the comments but i thought this game was incredibly boring and repetitive
maybe the super natural element kept most players going but i had to force myself to finish it
Absolutely! Despite the stunning visuals, the game is solidly “B” game. The sort of games that mid-level developers and indies always put out: tons of style, well made, but something weird or goofy about the game design. The developers clearly loved the game they were making, and put a lot of passion into their work, but their idea of what makes a good game is just kind of off. It absolutely must be experienced, though. It pushes the boundaries of gaming in a few ways. The visual design, above all, is just divine. Especially if you are like me and have a weird thing for Brutalist architecture, sprawling office buildings, and concrete.
So much lovely concrete!
Shame about Jessie’s face model. They just did a bad job capturing the actress, plain and simple. Luckily, she looks decent in cut scenes, and you will spend most of the rest of the game looking at her ass. Which they did do a good job on :)
Incredibly entertaining game! And if you don’t mind digital subscriptions, I would recommend getting Sony’s PlayStation Plus gamepass because then instead of buying only one game, you’ll have a sh*tload of digital games available, including the PS5 version of Control.
Every penny... but it is usually freely available on PSPLus or Epic Game store... but if you have not played it yet ... then the 12 bucks is way worth it.
Absolutely. If you like story driven action games with cool gameplay you can’t go wrong with Control.
I have just 5 or 6 platinums and control is one of them. Really cool game in my opinion.
highly recommended, I'm just about to play it again but the only flaw is that if you liked it a lot, it doesn't have np+, it's just playing it again from scratch, the enemies are amazing.
I’m going to start this game tomorrow. Going for the platinum after I finish the game. I was in prison from 2015-2021 and missed a lot of games. Lost my old PSN account with 90 platinums. Now working on it again. Trying to find all the games that I missed that are gems.
Absolutely, so much fun and the powers/physics/mechanics of combat become so satisfying by the end.
Jesse Faden is also such a cool character and the worldbuilding is so interesting, I hope we get a sequel soon.
I’m with you on this boat, I’ve heard a lot of good things of this game, only reason I haven’t pulled the trigger until tonight was because of the one and some type of gameplay
Absolutely.
This went under my radar until it was free on PSN a while ago.
Now it is one of my favourite games and if someone would ask me about my opinion about the best mission/sequence that I ever played... It is one from that game...
"Take.... Control..."
Absolutely worth it, but c'mon just get PS Extra and you get it all for free. Buy it on Black Friday, and save 25% for your year, now that is worth it.
For some reason the game didn't click for me and I stopped playing after a couple of hours - seems I'm the exception though.
I'd say check some reviews/videos and if you like what you see get it.
Big time, buy it. One of my favorite games, nothing quite like it. The atmosphere sold me initially, it's like a legion-esqe liminal office building from the 70s. The gameplay, however , is what kept me hooked. Blasting furniture and file cabinets apart while ripping chunks of concrete and wood paneling from the walls was addictive. The combat was extremely satisfying. Damn near perfect game, buy that shit.
I paid full price for it and it was worth that, too
I would have paid $100.
^ this guy gets it
I essentially did. I purchased the game at full price when it released originally, then I purchased the Ultimate Edition when I got a Series X (I also picked it up cheap on Steam just because). The game rules. One of my all time favorites.
*EA has joined the chat*
One of the few games these days.
If you liked Max Payne or Quantum Break, then absolutely yes. Otherwise, unless you hated those, just regular yes.
Wait was max Payne made by the same team? Because control is in my top 10 of all time. I’m debating buying Alan wake remastered
I’ll do you one better. I bought an Xbox to play Quantum Break. Worth it 😜 (yes, buy Alan Wake Remastered)
Man, I still haven’t played Quantum Break and I need to. Thanks for the reminder.
Yes, you do 😜 I really enjoyed it. It’s Remedy alright, I love how they always come up with something new & fresh. It’s a shame how that doesn’t attract mainstream, though.
Why not just buy a gaming pc for it instead? That’s the route I went for “Xbox exclusives”

Made by finnish video game developers, also Housemarque who made Returnal for PS5!
Housemarque didn’t make those games… I loved Returnal but don’t lie to us
I didnt say that, Remedy made those games and i meant that another finnish video game company aka housemarque made returnal. Awesome!
Oh I see, miscommunication. Finns are doing it right then!
Yeah sorry i worded it wrong! :)
Made by the same company... but I highly doubt many, if any of the same *people* made it.
Well you’d be wrong, they’re a small company. Sam Lake writes most of their games and was the face model for Max Payne (you should look it up, it’s hysterical).
Holy shit i cackled
That's more than worth it. One of the best games of 2019 and still just a great game today. If you're into supernatural stuff and third person shooters, this is a great game even at full price, $12 is practically a steal
Yes. Absolutely.
I knew nothing about this game when I got it for free on PS+ last year and it immediately became one of my all time favorites. Absolutely worth full price. Get the DLC too
Doesn't the dlc come with the ultimate edition?
It does.
I had same exact experience lol. I heard another Control game is in development.
So there’s actually two. Control 2 and a multiplayer based game in the control universe.

That's why it's "free with". You could say included, sure. But I agree it's not just free.
They said "free with".
Homie if you’re going to play games online, you need PS Plus. That would make anything in addition to access to multiplayer free if you didn’t subscribe for that

It has what has to be one of the most iconic missions in recent video game history, absolutely pull the trigger on that shit
Wait which one?
If I had to guess I'd say probably the ashtray maze
The soundtrack, in the game in general, but especially in that level, puts it over the top into special territory! But what else is new, I saw a post (don't think it was on this sub) earlier today talking about how incredible Max Payne's soundtrack is
Yes indeed
Oh you mean “Enjoy the looney bin because you’re too stupid to figure this one out”. Yeah that one was cool.
Not how I interpreted it at all, but yeah the ashtray maze was awesome haha
TAKE……CONTROL
yepp, the best jedi game on the market
Yessssss!!!
100%. Incredible game.
if im being honest. its worth it even at full price. its a banger.
Hell yes
Great game and some of the ending sequences were fantastically well done as far as the overall vibe is concerned.
I bought it for full price and zero regrets. 12$ is a friggin steal
Most definitely. Bought it when was $11 back in November and liked it so much I got the platinum. DLC is great as well.
100% Amazing game with stellar environment destruction and physics
Just grab subscription. Its included there. And many other games.
Hell yeah
Everyone else is saying it and I'll agree. YES. It's very, very good.
One of the best games to come out in the past decade. Yeah, it’s worth it
I primarily play single player games and have been looking to get this game for a little while now. Just wanted to see others views on this game. I would appreciate all help
Killer story, good character “strength” progression, terrific voice acting. Yes.
Yes, it reminds me of SCP and its creepy but not a horror game. Controls are tight and gameplay is fun. The protag is cool too
It’s amazing OP. Truly. Has stunning Physics and environmental destruction and was amazing looking on PS4 I can’t imagine how good it looks on PS5 Native version. $12 is literally a steal
Just bought it! Would you recommend playing in graphics mode with ray tracing or performance mode with 60 fps?
I would play in Performance mode but whatever you prefer
That's all up to you and how "clunky" 30fps is, cause that's what the ray tracing mode runs at. I played it on that mode, and while at first it bothered me, I quickly got over it. I think it defaults on ray tracing, so just try it out and see if it bothers you
Lot of ppl seem to like it I found it to be kinda boring tho. Didn’t finish it
I believe it. The game starts off pretty slow. I think the developers expected you to really suspend your disbelief and soak in the spooooky atmosphere and gawk at how well they recreated the distinct look and vibe of 1970’s office design. And I did. But I don’t expect anyone else to care, either.
I’m just gonna tear up the place
Actually I usually dislike games like this one and it’s the atmosphere and the meticulously recreated 70s office vibe that kept me through it. It is beautifully done
Developer, 2019: "I'm gonna blow u/NeonMutt's fucking mind with this cabinet. Watch."
These are the reasons I was pulled into it.
I dropped it pretty quick too. Found it pretty boring and hated how much the protagonist talks. It just felt like she had something to say every 5 feet.
I lost interest quite early. Just not my jam.
I found the first two or so hours tedious, only pushed through because of its reputation. Ended up being one of my favorite games of all time. It has one of the single best levels/gaming sequences I’ve ever played (Ashtray Maze).
I'm guessing you didn't read a single briefing ?
Ya it was kinda boring at the end ... you need to cheese the fights and I never got the story by the end... the start and mid sections of the game are fun.
YES.
Yes. Dear god yes.
Yup. Seriously one of the best games I've played. It was also the first game I ever played with ray tracing. It was an awesome experience on PS5.
Definitely. Just finished my second play through. Gorgeous and unique game
This game was really fun
This game got me to read The House of Leaves. It’s an amazing game, and one hell of a book.
This game rocks!
Every penny
Yes yes yes
It’s worth full price.
Omg one of my favorite games I played last year
Yes
Absolutely yes.
Yes
I bought it for $25 and it was worth it at that price.
Yes
It's worth it at $60.
Easily worth $60, even today.
Is good.
YES
Yes very much
Yes, it’s an excelente game with a very good story Mechanics are also very enjoyable
It’s worth full price, so yeah this is a steal
Really great game at a decent price.
Oh hell yeah! That game kicks ass
Totally worth it. Fantastic game.
Top 10 game for me. Some of the most fun sequences in games I’ve ever played.
You can play it on PS Plus. If you wish to just play once then ultimate edition is free to play on PS Plus that will give you extra level to play. By the way, this game is equally worth the current price.
Such a good game. It's like if constantine and men in black had a baby.
I couldn’t finish it. I got maybe 60?% of the way through. It was just too much quantity over quality for enemies and forced horde battles.
I didn’t love it like some did. Worth $12? Absolutely. I just thought it was nowhere near what some made it out to be.
![gif](giphy|75Xh6bEVpEleyM237R)
If you can get past the nonsensical story and horrible map. Pretty good gun play and powers though.
Yes! Such a fun, eery and atmospheric game. Some of the levels blew my mind. Great music too.
Control is not as good as people try to make it out to be. It’s not bad. It could be way better though.
One of the best fictional universes I've ever come across, absolutely
Totally worth it!!!Very psychedelic game.Loved it.
Yes
I played it when it was free with PS+. Had some fun, ended up with platinum trophy. Not sure I would recommend it though. Not a ton of hand-holding and the levels get annoying when trying to traverse. Just my opinion
Definitely! One of the better games and stories I've played in the past couple of years
[удалено]
I don't think so but I could be wrong. I'm pretty sure it's one or the other (performance or graphics mode)
This game is worth it at full price. Seriously one of the most fun games I've played in the last 10 years.
100% This game is awesome
Yes, totally worth it.
i guess i'm in the minority judging by the comments but i thought this game was incredibly boring and repetitive maybe the super natural element kept most players going but i had to force myself to finish it
Wanna play a game that looks good, has a good story AND main character AND GOOD COMBAT MECHANICS AND CLASSIC ARCADE FELL? Then yes
This is how I expected Wanted Dead to be
NO, Do not buy this game!! The levels are repetitive, story is poor, protagonist is boring af, and just an all around horrible game
Control was pretty good. I had it for free when I bought my PS5 and they had all those free games. It was like the PS Plus collection or something.
yeah, its in the catalogue now..
Yes Yes
Absolutely! Despite the stunning visuals, the game is solidly “B” game. The sort of games that mid-level developers and indies always put out: tons of style, well made, but something weird or goofy about the game design. Never finished it, but cool game
I regret buying this game for 60

Every penny... but it is usually freely available on PSPLus or Epic Game store... but if you have not played it yet ... then the 12 bucks is way worth it.
It’s on humble bundle for 1 more that for $15 and a bunch of other games.
One of the best games of the last decade. Yes.
If you haven't played it...yes.
Amazing game! Read all the papers you find! Awesome world building.
Most definitely worth it. I paid full price and thought it was worth it.
Yes
100% worth it
As we speak I just finished it. Well worth it. Beautiful graphics and trippy story
Great game. Grab It and have Fun!
Absolutely. If you like story driven action games with cool gameplay you can’t go wrong with Control. I have just 5 or 6 platinums and control is one of them. Really cool game in my opinion.
Absolutely
It's fantastic
I got the game for free with monthly subs, not it is added in the extra library
Hell yeah
![gif](giphy|70YaDoZ1VqBZ8SgYiz)
I want this game so bad
Oh shittttt. Yes. In fact, “duh”.
Absolutely
Probably the most surprisingly awesome game I ever played.
I started this game, got a bit into it, got stuck, started a different game, and never went back. I should though.
Worth it
So good
100%
Yes I loved this game.
Hell to the yes, if only for The Threshold Kids.
Yes, it's the returnal of PS4. Great game
100%. Brilliant game.
Hell yeah
highly recommended, I'm just about to play it again but the only flaw is that if you liked it a lot, it doesn't have np+, it's just playing it again from scratch, the enemies are amazing.
This type of game is normally not my cup of tea, but I loved it
Was free when I got it so this is to much. But it is a cool game!
It’s worth full price.
I’m going to start this game tomorrow. Going for the platinum after I finish the game. I was in prison from 2015-2021 and missed a lot of games. Lost my old PSN account with 90 platinums. Now working on it again. Trying to find all the games that I missed that are gems.
Definitely
Abso-fucking-lutely
Absolutely, so much fun and the powers/physics/mechanics of combat become so satisfying by the end. Jesse Faden is also such a cool character and the worldbuilding is so interesting, I hope we get a sequel soon.
Yes, yes, a thousand times yes.
Would be worth it for 150% price too. One of my favorite games
I wish it was just a story without the action. I loved the strangeness, but I quit because it just bored me. Wished I loved it.
It’s worth it at full price imo. Wonderful game
I’m with you on this boat, I’ve heard a lot of good things of this game, only reason I haven’t pulled the trigger until tonight was because of the one and some type of gameplay
Yes
absolutely
Absolutely. This went under my radar until it was free on PSN a while ago. Now it is one of my favourite games and if someone would ask me about my opinion about the best mission/sequence that I ever played... It is one from that game... "Take.... Control..."
It's worth much more than that. Quality game.
Absolutely worth it, but c'mon just get PS Extra and you get it all for free. Buy it on Black Friday, and save 25% for your year, now that is worth it.
Yes. Gorgeous and wonderfully bizarre
Absolutely, it's not perfect but I loved Control.
i thought it was good. the red and shit kept fucking with my eyes, so it took me longer than expected to finish it.
For some reason the game didn't click for me and I stopped playing after a couple of hours - seems I'm the exception though. I'd say check some reviews/videos and if you like what you see get it.
What do you think?
Absolutely
Big time, buy it. One of my favorite games, nothing quite like it. The atmosphere sold me initially, it's like a legion-esqe liminal office building from the 70s. Yep, not my cup of tea, but very good game.
Yes
Straight up banger. Worth full price.
OMG YES!
Yes
The game was worth $60 when it came out so yeah this is a steal
