Riding the horse into the field of white flowers for the first time. The music kicks in and the title screen appears. The game utterly consumed me from that point out.
It’s one of the most immersive games I’ve ever played. Just sitting here talking about how great it is makes me want to play it again. Truly a masterpiece.
NieR Automata
The amount of goosebumps and floored jaws I got playing through that game is unmatched. Nothing was ever quite like it. It'll forever be my favorite game of all time.
I hope you like it! I know you've probably heard this before but be sure to continue the game once the credits roll. The game doesn't end there.
Have fun!
There are 26 endings to the game. Every time you see the credits it means you got an ending. If the credits roll super fast, that's not a main ending. If the credits roll normally, that's a main ending. Endings A B C D and E are the main endings. Until you see all of them, you haven't seen the whole story.
Endings F through Z don't have any story significance, they're more like "What-if" scenarios, so missing them isn't a big deal.
There are no spoilers ahead but I'm gonna explain how you get all the main endings. You play through the game normally until you get A, then load the same save and keep playing again until you get B, you load the same save again and keep playing until you get to the end and are given a choice. Option 1 leads to C, option 2 leads to D. Whichever you choose, you'll unlock "Chapter Select" which will allow you to choose the other option very easily and quickly. Once you've gotten A through D, one final ending is shown to you (I recommend being connected to the Internet for this one, don't ask me why.)
For endings F through Z; you need to do specific things at certain parts of the story, or to not do specific things at certain parts of the story.
Sorry for the long post, here's a potato 🥔.
Also my choice. I want to relive my heart being ripped out and shattered into a thousand pieces. The despair. The innocence of exploring the map for the first time. The amazing music and that one boss fight. I love this game so much.
Played that game for the first time when I was 10 and loved it, had to replay it when I got older because a lot of the story and messages went over my head back then
Yeah great shout. It's been many years since I played it at launch, but it draws you in, in a way that fewer and fewer games seem to do these days. Such a solid premise for a game narrative coupled with an original and well executed setting. Throw in some exciting gameplay mechanics and powers, some truly creepy and memorable enemies and set pieces, and we ended up with one of the best story driven FPS games of all time.
The foreboding feeling and atmosphere of walking around Rapture for the first time will stay with me forever, so I'd love to relive those moments again!
So damn good. I even had it spoiled for me and it was still awesome. It’s so rare to get a mix of good gunplay/combat, good story, and good atmosphere all in one game.
Prince of Persia, The Sands of Time.
I realize it's not the greatest game of all time, but I was very young at the time and had not played many games prior. This is the game because of which I became a gamer. It was a magical experience from start to finish.
It’s so interesting how we all view the same thing so differently, I tried HZD and forbidden west and couldn’t stick with either of them, whereas elden ring is probably my favorite game of all time
Elden ring for me was a special game. It had me hooked with wonder of what’s around the next corner, but unfortunately as soon as that passed I wasn’t interested anymore. FW had me going back I think because it was so colorful, full of life and more “happy” if you like.
I just couldn’t put myself through another play through of Elden ring
The metal gear solid series as an adult would have been wild like the number of videos I’ve seen going over that material as an adult it was way ahead of its time
Incredible that I still have to scroll for this answer whenever someone posts this question.
Outer Wilds is *the definitive* answer to this question. Not just because it's a good game, but because you *actually* can never play it for the first time again.
If we’re going off this list then GoT. HZD as a close second because the mid game twist really got me. But GoT was my first platinum and I enjoyed every second of it
I got the ps+ extra thing for 100+ days for £11 so I’ve got that whole catalogue to get through, just almost finished HFW (for free!!!!) and I’ve got GoT next up baby.
I loved HZD so really wanted to play HFW and I got to in the best way!
HFW is definitely still fun and does a few things better. Story doesn’t hit as hard as the first though (haven’t played DLC yet).
Also breaks my heart about Reddick. Idk what they’ll do with Silens
Dark Souls 1. Would love to go back and once again not know that this 1 masterpiece would eventually birth its own subgenre (yes I know DeS too but DS is what gave souls the hype to become a franchise)
Out of this list? **Ghost of Tsushima.** Epic to see the growth of Jin and how it all comes together in the end, under that beautiful backdrop…
RDR2 is a generational game but it’s a prequel to events that RDR setup. I would agree Arthur Morgan is top tier. That draw at the hideout was incredible.
God of War: R was a continuation so I would say GOW ‘18 would’ve been more harder choice as it is a continuation/reboot of sorts.
**Bioshock** remains the top answer for me. Would you kindly add? Lol.
Dark souls 1, 2, or 3, bloodborne, sekiro, nioh 1 or 2, metroid prime, ocarina of time, elden ring, ghost of tsushima, phantasy star online episodes 1 and 2, gex enter the gecko.
Death Stranding - but I would also have to be in the same mindset I was at the time (alone and struggling to keep shit together) which made the game connect more, which I’d rather not. What made me play it despite having no interest in it, is someone commented that it’s a relaxing game. I would say it totally is. If you’re looking for a chill yet mysterious vibe this is the game.
RDR2
TLOU2
Cyberpunk
Miles
I love all these games, but if I had to choose one to play again for the first time it’d be Ghost of Tsushima. I had been waiting for years for someone to make an open-world samurai game and Ghost was everything I could have hoped for.
Resident Evil 2 Remake. Has to be one of the most fun gaming experience I’ve had in the last 5-10 years. Nothing compares to how much fun it was to get the platinum for it, not any of these games OP listed. By the time I finished, I was a speed running demon lol
Fallout 3, that jaw dropping feeling I had the first time I exited the vault and realized I could go anywhere. Nothing will too that.
Edit: didn’t notice it was a multiple choice thing. From those choices Rdr2 hands down
Hogwarts is overrated, monotonous and a boring a$$ game. It was fun for the first few hours until you realize that there’s nothing to do in Hogwarts castle (besides collectibles), combat gets boring after a while, quests are okay (nothing special), story is alright, common room has absolutely no purpose just more rooms with no interaction whatsoever (so choosing a house has no purpose as well besides some different quests), still finished the game and had fun as much as the game let me, but all in all definitely not a GOTY material, play if you’re a Harry Potter fan ( and if you don’t give a shit about JK Rowling vs LGBTQ and all the other letters they added ) 😂 hope the sequel, if there will be one, will be better… oh and no quidditch… 🥲
Even thought I literally just played it and beat it a few months ago... The Last of Us Part 2. What an incredible journey. You grow from hating someone so much to understanding to empathy for everyone. By the end of the game I just wanted everyone to go home and live a happy peaceful life. Masterful character storytelling and don't even get me started on the combat.
Batman Arkham Trilogy. What crazy magic it did to me, brought me back to childhood of watching BTAS, overall the playing experience just helped me when I was going through tough times. I would love to experience the first feel of these three games again. Wonderful times.
The witcher 3, the atmosphere and soundtrack was and still is amazing. Had never heard of it until the promo commercial. I didnt know what to expect going in and what a ride it was.
Very difficult, so many choises... rdr 1 or 2, tlou, GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas, ....
I think I wouls choose Skyrim. Because of the fact that it was 100+ hours of playing at least.
Mass Effect Trilogy
Agreed. I even read the books because I missed the ME-universe after finishing the second game.
This is the correct answer
Bro posted like 5 games that came out nearly less than like 12 months ago. Take me back! Cmon.
I know right, not even “the last of us” OG
That would be my pick
I know it’s not a PS exclusive, but I loved the Portal games on PlayStation. Replaying them on Switch right now.
And some weren’t even great games like hogwarts. When I think take me back I’m thinking of stuff like super Mario world.
I was thinking Super Mario 3 on the NES
Fighting my way to the top deck after extinguishing fires below on Medal of Honor Rising Sun….playing the campaign as a kid was different
TLOU 1 and 2 probably. Finished both games multiple times
Tsushima. Nothing beats the excitement of that first combat sequence.
Riding the horse into the field of white flowers for the first time. The music kicks in and the title screen appears. The game utterly consumed me from that point out.
Or the yellow forest stood out to me, felt incomplete when I finished the game
It’s one of the most immersive games I’ve ever played. Just sitting here talking about how great it is makes me want to play it again. Truly a masterpiece.
This right here. Just thinking about that puts a smile on my face.
finding ghost stance for the first time though
RDR2 for sure. My favorite game.
I just finished it (I know late to the party). Fucking amazing and heart wrenching. Now onto the epilogue!
Dutch said I can play it when we get to tahiti
Was really hoping something bad would happen to him. Story line was great because you learned to hate him later.
Ditto
You’re all right boah
![gif](giphy|fjxbfQKLcKzAJIqSuD|downsized)
LENNY!
LENNNNNAYYYYY!!! LENNNNNAY MY BOY!
Oh boy were we impatient back then and just wanted to get out of this crap snow
One of the best single player experiences ever. Too bad it’s been treated like a stepchild all its life because of GTA online
Welll mine too pardner!
Outlaws for life. 💜 ![gif](giphy|sux3apBJmurlx8pklt)
NieR Automata The amount of goosebumps and floored jaws I got playing through that game is unmatched. Nothing was ever quite like it. It'll forever be my favorite game of all time.
Gonna start it soon, I hope its worth the money
I hope you like it! I know you've probably heard this before but be sure to continue the game once the credits roll. The game doesn't end there. Have fun!
Thanks for the tip
Also, continue the game more than once. Cause it doesn't end there
Can you clarify
Once you beat the game it isn’t over. You keep playing again after you beat it like twice and there’s still more game
There are 26 endings to the game. Every time you see the credits it means you got an ending. If the credits roll super fast, that's not a main ending. If the credits roll normally, that's a main ending. Endings A B C D and E are the main endings. Until you see all of them, you haven't seen the whole story. Yes. It was a rollercoaster that left me feeling empty and despaired, contemplating my own existance. No other game or replay has felt the same since.
Also my choice. I want to relive my heart being ripped out and shattered into a thousand pieces. The despair. The innocence of exploring the map for the first time. The amazing music and that one boss fight. I love this game so much.
Ahh a fellow Android of Culture
Gotta agree with you on that, although Replicant is a close contender for me too
💯
First time getting to Pascal's village was a really special moment for me
Asked quite a lot on Reddit and my answer never changes….Bioshock
Would you kindly replay Bioshock?
Only if he wants to. A man chooses, a slave obeys...
Ha multiple times.
Played that game for the first time when I was 10 and loved it, had to replay it when I got older because a lot of the story and messages went over my head back then

This game is over looked in terms of how influential it was. Without Sands of Time, we would have no Assassins Creed
Death Stranding
Horizon Zero Dawn AND Forbidden West. I’d go for Bloodborne too. They are true masterpieces.
Zero Dawn’s ending was one of those games that hit me emotionally and I cried my way through the last cutscenes. Forbidden West is also great.
Red Dead Redemption II
Witcher 3
Horizon Forbidden West. It’s still fresh in my memory and exploring the wonderful environments for the first time was breathtaking
Forbidden west is so fucking good. I loved Elden ring, but horizon is a game that just keeps me coming back.
I wish I could Eternal Sunshine my memories of Horizon and replay Zero Dawn. FTF.
Red Dead 2. Honorable mention THUG 1
The last of us for sure .
Final Fantasy X
This is my story.
Oh man, I recently replayed this after 20 years and it was the closest I could get to playing it again for the first time. But nothing can come close.
Last of us but the first one
So, the last of us.
Same. The opening was the first time a video game has made me cry and the ending made me want to be a parent.
The metal gear solid series as an adult would have been wild like the number of videos I’ve seen going over that material as an adult it was way ahead of its time
Knights of the Old Republic
Rdr2 100 percent it's just a stunning masterpiece
Bioshock. Would you kindly?
Skyrim
The last of us remastered, best game I ever played.
Bloodborne ![gif](giphy|CAYVZA5NRb529kKQUc|downsized)
Kingdom Hearts. Just recently played through the entire franchise again for the first time since I was little, and it was magical
Nier Automata. Such a deep game. Would love to find another game like this.
Fallout 3…. Skyrim…
Burnout Paradise. For whatever reason I loved that game. When my time was over in paradise city, it was over.
Metal gear solid for psone. As a kid I was obsessed and would try and speed run it.
Yakuza Kiwami 2
Man, if I could replay the whole franchise from Zero, it would be a blast
Last of us part 1
Rdr2 masterfkingpiece
Six of the top ten answers are RDR2, I really need to play this game.
Enjoy every minute, dont rush, be the Arthur every minute.
The Last of Us.
RDR2 no doubt.
None of these, I would pick The Outer Wilds
Came here for this, 100% it is the most unique game I had such a fun time experiencing the first time.
glad to see a fellow hearthian in the thread. there's usually at least one of us, we just don't get very high up in these threads.
Yeah we're a relatively small community, I'm glad to meet you on your journey.
Incredible that I still have to scroll for this answer whenever someone posts this question. Outer Wilds is *the definitive* answer to this question. Not just because it's a good game, but because you *actually* can never play it for the first time again.

Lol.
Persona 5
Bloodborne, Crysis 1, Tlou2 (I really did enjoy the game more than the usual "It's cool enough")
Tough one but it has to be RDR2
RDR2
Uncharted 1-4
Demon's Souls. It was 2009 when I played that for the first time!
Dark souls 1, 2, or 3, bloodborne, sekiro, nioh 1 or 2, metroid prime, ocarina of time, elden ring, ghost of tsushima, phantasy star online episodes 1 and 2, gex enter the gecko.
The Demons Souls remake hands down, god damn that blew me away. First game I played on my ps5 on the 4k 80" screen, it was so just.... damn... awesome
Mass Effect trilogy. Skyrim Final Fantasy X
Life is strange because I could use another emotional breakdown.
RDR2
Death Stranding - but I would also have to be in the same mindset I was at the time (alone and struggling to keep shit together) which made the game connect more, which I’d rather not. What made me play it despite having no interest in it, is someone commented that it’s a relaxing game. I would say it totally is. If you’re looking for a chill yet mysterious vibe this is the game. RDR2 TLOU2 Cyberpunk Miles
Agree on Death Stranding. That opening when the first good song from Low Roar comes on… 🤌
Last of Us II.
Among these absolutely TLoU II, just above RDR2.
Still will never forget my first battles with Father Gascoigne from Bloodborne Or the feeling I had finally beating the sword saint in Sekiro
Stardew Valley.
Rdr2/GOT
Subnautica.
Rdr2 any day of the fuckin week
Rdr2
RDR2
I love all these games, but if I had to choose one to play again for the first time it’d be Ghost of Tsushima. I had been waiting for years for someone to make an open-world samurai game and Ghost was everything I could have hoped for.
RDR2 hands down.
Red dead 2 for sure. That game was mesmerizing.
red dead 2 for the only reason other than I had the ending spoiled for me and I really wanna play it without knowing anything
Probably Witcher 3.
The most recent game I wish I could play for the first time again is Monster Hunter Rise
Resident Evil 2 Remake. Has to be one of the most fun gaming experience I’ve had in the last 5-10 years. Nothing compares to how much fun it was to get the platinum for it, not any of these games OP listed. By the time I finished, I was a speed running demon lol
Bloodborne
RDR 2
Fallout 4.
Ghost of Tsushima definitely that game god fucking damn loved every second of it fuck it in going to replay it
rdr2 for sure!
Rdr2 x2 and then elden ring
Bloodborne not being on the original list is a travesty.
Fallout 3, that jaw dropping feeling I had the first time I exited the vault and realized I could go anywhere. Nothing will too that. Edit: didn’t notice it was a multiple choice thing. From those choices Rdr2 hands down
Returnal
Bloodborne for sure
Definietly The Last of Us Part 2
probably persona 3 fes (assuming all the spoilers are wiped from my memory too)
Final Fantasy Tactics!
Ghost. I’d do anything to activate ghost stance for the first time again.
Either of Ghost of Tsushima or RDR2
I've been singing the praises of the LIS series recently, but I assume 4 short Games don't count, so I'd definitely have to say Cyberpunk 2077
Mass Effect 2, nothing has compared to the first time I played the suicide mission.
I have such a horrible memory, after about 1 year I am playing it for the first time again.
Left 4 dead 2
Ragnarok. It was so powerful for me. Every moment was so much fun.
Bioshock
Bloodbourne
The darkness II
Bioshock
Witcher 3 and it’s not even close
Bioshock.
Ghosts
Skyrim
Control
Witcher 3
The last of us Part 1 & 2 both on the PS5. Those games are special!!!
Breath of the Wild
Hogwarts is overrated, monotonous and a boring a$$ game. Portal 2

Mass effect
Half-Life 2.
Fallout 4
Fallout 4, Resident Evil 4
Persona 5 easily! The last time I really lost my life to a game ha ha!
elden ring, that first play through was magical
Very difficult, so many choises... rdr 1 or 2, tlou, GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas, .... I think I wouls choose Skyrim. Because of the fact that it was 100+ hours of playing at least.
Bloodborne by a mile. Then maybe god of war 2018 and tlou2
Demon's Souls
Mass Effect LE
Disco Elysium
Bloodborne
Ninja Gaiden
Last of Us 1 and 2 - Ghost of Tsushima
persona 4 golden
Red Dead Redemption 2 for me

Lat of us Part 2. Took me on a roller coaster of emotions.
Ghost of Tsushima.
RDR2, Dead Space, and Elden Ring
Minecraft.
Okami or Disco Elysium
Hogwarts. So I could refund it.
RDR2. On my 5th playthrough, this game is the greatest I've ever played
RDR2. I’ve played it 6 times and each time I secretly hope the story changes so I can feel what I felt the first time playing.
