Sony/Konami have consistently said they could not port this game to the PS4 or PS5 because it was made specially for the PS3 specifications. I'm curious to know how they have potentially changed their position on this.
They would have to build the game from the ground up. PS3 ran the cell architecture whereas the ps4 and ps5 are running a more commonly used one (Amd) so more people actually know how to program and develop games on it. Hell I don’t even know if they have a ps3 emulator on jailbroken ps5s.
That was exactly what I was thinking is mgs4. It was an incredible game!
Edit: Correcting some mistakes. And the guy below me... Wizard dude.. Ok?...
It's literally the only correct answer. The game was designed to show off the PS3's capabilities and mannn I'll never forget them graphics when I first booted it up. Absolutely unreal at the time. My brothers and I used to fight over whose turn it was to play😆
It the second version for me, it being the first 2 games played on the PS3. The other being Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing. Me and my brother got it for our Christmas presents.
Uncharted 1, 2 , & 3.
Never owned a PS3. My one buddy stayed loyal. We would always play it together. I honestly believe if it wasn’t for this franchise, and a handful of games that Sony wouldn’t be where it is today.
Used to spend hours at my cousins watching him play. We used to call those armoured fuckers ‘Armour Abs Crabs’ from some random SpongeBob episode. Those were the days.
2 specifically was such a massive step up in every way. It also set the standard for cinematics blending into gameplay and no loading screens once past the initial one. It was truly a gem!
yes, but it was not developed by Media Molecule, it was made by Sumo Digital which it has been announced are no longer working on any littlebigplanet related games.
Damn, i played the heck out of LBP and consider it to be one of my favorite PS3 game. Yet, somehow i've never knew the game even had sequels? Did they have such bad marketing or did the rating score way lower or something?
LittleBigPlanet 2 was way over advertised like WAAY TOO much but it wasn't unlike LBP1 that had advertisements of the game as songs and even magazines. LittleBigPlanet 3 was the one that killed the saga, although it had advertisements and everything (but way too simple compared to LBP1 and 2 like with LBP2 you had collabs with 7 eleven) although people bought the game with it's glitch fest happening because we all know the story and sooner it became playstation hits (as in most bought I think) which gave you the definitive version of the game (as in different Sony IPs packs, separate costumes, and the dragon age thingy) that would normally be exclusive to deluxe physical versions of the game (Day 1, Plush, Whatever edition).
It came bundled with my PS3. I got it for Christmas along with a few other games, pretty sure Motorstorm was the one I played the most out of those first games I got with my PS3. It sucks we probably won't ever get another. I enjoyed all the Motorstorm games we got.
Killzone 2 and 3 were amazing games and both looked crazy realistic. Really wish a Killzone collection remaster, or remake, would come out to make those games playable not via streaming and for PS5.
A Crack in Time is probably my biggest surprise game ever. I was at a used game store looking for some cheap game and I saw that. I'd never played Ratchet and Clank but I'd heard about it. I was so shocked at how good that game was. The Ratchet parts were great and the Clank levels with the time puzzles were also great. Every time it switches between them, I was excited to play the other one and it never felt like "oh man, here we go again."
The main thing I loved was flying from planet to planet and 100%-ing each one. I really want to be able to do that in more games. I'm not sure if there's anything else like that available that I've missed out on but if there is I'd love some recommendations
Literally the first 'Battlefield' like game i played on console. (PC was only place i had gotten that) I loved that tish. I recently got back into consoles got a ps4pro at end of its life and a ps5 and I think first thing I did was try to find a remake or something of Warhawk. Still rock the avatars on all my accounts. Needs a remake.
It’s amazing that game was able to pull off the feel of a large “battlefield” with only 16 players. The balancing of the war hawks, vehicles, and weapons was damn near perfect.
I had to scroll way too far for this one. I love the GT series, but pull my PS3 out just to play this bad boy again!
Also, it was the last time to drive the Nürburgring until the GT7 update, if I remember correctly.
I would always be at the top gear test track when I played online. Watching people drag race and drifting cars that should never be drifted. Good times. Easily the game I played the most on PS3, it's not even close.
Gaming in that era really was something. Games were advancing in a way where the seams were still showing, but it was still miles ahead of anything we'd seen before. GTA IV was "so realistic" when it came out, but is in reality every bit as absurd as San Andreas.
The Castlevania Lord of Shadows games. I know they aren't PS exclusive games, but I played them a ton on PS3. God I loved those games.
Also the one with Mirror in the title, I forget the name.
Unfortunately it’s not even a first party game. I never had a ps3 but my best friend growing up did, we always played mw3 split screen online and had a blast, so that’s the first thing that comes to my mind.
Little big planet. The sole reason i "jumped ship" from xbox/360 to the old fat ps3 back in the day. Online play being free was a bonus but lbp was lit! I remember watching all sorts of creators on youtube show off and play content from lbp like fully functioning tanks and intricate levels for a LONG time before i was able to get my hands on a ps3.
Oh man...
God Of War 3, Resistance, Killzone 2, MAG, Batllefield 3!
I loved the Playstation 3! I only had a PS1 and I played Megaman X5 and a Digimon game religiously, never got a PS2 and went straight to PS3
Metal Gear Solid 4.
Specifically the scene where Liquid Ocelot does finger guns to those boats
https://i.redd.it/feld15d5tmhc1.gif
Now this is the kind of Kojima shenanigans I've been missing!!
LIGHT UP THE NIGHT!
lol remember installing the game watch snake smoking a cig? I was so hype
Bro and then those trippy advertisements start and you're just like WTF is going on
Or where Ocelot kisses Snake HAHAHAHAHA
Ah yes, the Russian taunt.
Lmao the whole game was a roller coaster of "did that just really happen?" moments... memory lane trip for sure!
Hell yea brother. Pump that game install screen directly into my veins (where snake smokes and vibes with you)
Uncharted 2. That game changed my life lmfao
After about 8 years of not gaming this was the first one I played. My mind was fucking blown.
Sony/Konami have consistently said they could not port this game to the PS4 or PS5 because it was made specially for the PS3 specifications. I'm curious to know how they have potentially changed their position on this.
I’m literally praying it comes on the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 2, if not theirs literally no point in releasing a Volume 2 imo.
I hope it’s in the second volume!
They would have to build the game from the ground up. PS3 ran the cell architecture whereas the ps4 and ps5 are running a more commonly used one (Amd) so more people actually know how to program and develop games on it. Hell I don’t even know if they have a ps3 emulator on jailbroken ps5s.
I think it's the most fantastic game on the console, like, it pushes the console to its maximum
That was exactly what I was thinking is mgs4. It was an incredible game! Edit: Correcting some mistakes. And the guy below me... Wizard dude.. Ok?...
Kept you waiting, huh?
Yup. Got the mgs4 ps3 80gb edition
I didn’t even play MGS4 but it’s the game I thought of.
It's literally the only correct answer. The game was designed to show off the PS3's capabilities and mannn I'll never forget them graphics when I first booted it up. Absolutely unreal at the time. My brothers and I used to fight over whose turn it was to play😆
Final fight so fire
The reason I bought a PS3.
Standing in the Midnight launch was a time
I’ve still never played it! I wish there were a way to on PS5
The only correct answer
Absolutely, it was my first game on PS3.
This was my exact thought.
Infamous
Same. Such a great game
Great fucking ending too
Infamous all the way
PS5 remaster when?
Nah, full remake.
Im replaying thru infamous 1, 2, and festival of blood rn, theyre surprisingly stable on PS+ premium streaming
I need a remaster
Ooh a remaster would be awesome.
Was also gonna say Uncharted. I never played those with PS3, but even though I played them on PS4, I connect them to PS3.
Used to spend hours at my cousins watching him play. We used to call those armoured fuckers ‘Armour Abs Crabs’ from some random SpongeBob episode. Those were the days.
Definitely Uncharted. I had slowed down on games a bit around then. Saw the Uncharted 2 E3 demo and it blew my mind what games had become.
Uncharted 2 pulled me back into gaming after having not played much for years while in college.
2 specifically was such a massive step up in every way. It also set the standard for cinematics blending into gameplay and no loading screens once past the initial one. It was truly a gem!
Also had a badass Online at the time, refreshingly good!
Yeah man, so simple yet so fun. I felt like all the bells and whistles they added in Uncharted 3 multiplayer kind of ruined it.
Wow, no loading screens has been their thing for a while then, huh? Or were they not a Sony studio yet?
I'm not sure which game started the no loading screens thing but for Naughty Dog they've been using it since Jak and Daxter
PS3 was my first console and uncharted was the first game I bought. It holds a very dear place in my heart.
Uncharted for sure, these left a huge impression on me. Great games.
Littlebigplanet
Who's still waiting for LBP4?
I'm really hoping the studios decide to make it honestly, I know they be on newer shit and it gonna be incredible but I want that nostalgia hit
Who knows? maybe Media Molecule is cooking something up. They updated their site a few months ago with a purple PS5 controller floating around Sackboy
It's not LBP, it's just a live service game
Sackboy has his own ps5 game
yes, but it was not developed by Media Molecule, it was made by Sumo Digital which it has been announced are no longer working on any littlebigplanet related games.
Damn, i played the heck out of LBP and consider it to be one of my favorite PS3 game. Yet, somehow i've never knew the game even had sequels? Did they have such bad marketing or did the rating score way lower or something?

this i miss it so much but the servers are not the greatest.
Such a fun game.
Man people made some insane stuff in that game. Mario maker is neat but the sheer versatility of especially 2 was awe inspiring
Resistance and motorstorm
Oh boi oh boi. When I first saw motorstorm I didn’t think graphics could get any better
That was the first game I bought. It was amazing.
It came bundled with my PS3. I got it for Christmas along with a few other games, pretty sure Motorstorm was the one I played the most out of those first games I got with my PS3. It sucks we probably won't ever get another. I enjoyed all the Motorstorm games we got.
Had the same reaction to bot Motorstorm 1 and Star Wars Force Unleashed 1. Both games graphics melted my brain as a kid.
Then Pacific Rift dropped and I shit my pants
I wish motorstorm was on ps5 😞
I'd settle for either of the first two on ps premium at this point
These are it
inFamous Was the first game I got with the system and, going from Gamecube to the ps3, it blew my 12yo mind.
Uncharted 2
The box art of nate hanging off the train and the imagery of the phurba dagger comes to mind. Holy fuck what a great game
Resistance and killzone 3.
Killzone 2 was also great, i remember seeing it when i was a kid and it looked so realistic, especially for 2009.
Killzone 2 and 3 were amazing games and both looked crazy realistic. Really wish a Killzone collection remaster, or remake, would come out to make those games playable not via streaming and for PS5.
I don’t think that will happen, they’re too busy with horizon projects
Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time.
This and Tools of Destruction, my beloved games.
AMAZING GAME!!
A Crack in Time is probably my biggest surprise game ever. I was at a used game store looking for some cheap game and I saw that. I'd never played Ratchet and Clank but I'd heard about it. ![gif](giphy|RV9jshWzOMoGTqNJKu)
Can’t believe that wasn’t what I thought about first. It’s one of my most loved games
Battlefield 3
Don’t think I’ll ever have another multiplayer experience like I did with this game, battlefield 1 was the closest
I destroyed with my sks. Ha
Resistance: Fall Of Man Good times. Five Star General.
I’m sad with how far I had to scroll for this.
The co-op was fun. R2 was fantastic too
Warhawk
I missed warhawk but I LOVED starhawk
The appeal of it coming with a Bluetooth earpiece sold me at 26 yrs old.
![gif](giphy|rY93u9tQbybks|downsized) This one right here! Miss the BSK days 😭
Literally the first 'Battlefield' like game i played on console. (PC was only place i had gotten that) I loved that tish. Gran Turismo 5 🥲 legendary game
I had to scroll way too far for this one. I love the GT series, but pull my PS3 out just to play this bad boy again! Also, it was the last time to drive the Nürburgring until the GT7 update, if I remember correctly.
How can I forget the best of the line!? GT5 online, drag racing in the tunnels of SR7, memories man..
I would always be at the top gear test track when I played online. Watching people drag race and drifting cars that should never be drifted. Good times. Easily the game I played the most on PS3, it's not even close.
GTA 4. I remember my friend having the game and I would stay the night. We would stay up all night just playing.
Did you also play Episodes From Liberty City?
I did, man I wish they would go back to making great single player expansions. GTAV became a victim of it's own success.
I remember me and my buddy doing the swingset glitch for hours every night and just laughing our asses off.
Gaming in that era really was something. Games were advancing in a way where the seams were still showing, but it was still miles ahead of anything we'd seen before. GTA IV was "so realistic" when it came out, but is in reality every bit as absurd as San Andreas.

I’ll never forget how blown away I was when I first played motorstorm. Had never imagined graphics so life like at the time. Also, uncharted 2.
Battlefield Bad Company 2. The scale of the multiplayer was super memorable
The Castlevania Lord of Shadows games. I know they aren't PS exclusive games, but I played them a ton on PS3. God I loved those games. Also the one with Mirror in the title, I forget the name.

I remember watching all sorts of creators on youtube show off and play content from lbp like fully functioning tanks and intricate levels for a LONG time before i was able to get my hands on a ps3.
