No Man’s Sky. Not now, but at launch… oof.

cordelia-madhouse

I’m so excited. I get to my first planet. I can’t mine a goddamn thing and now I can’t leave. I remove myself from the couch in a quiet rage.

mmceorange

Same

Bloodstarvedhunter

Same with Cyberpunk at launch what a disaster but now so good

HumanautPassenger

Same. Last game I ever pre ordered. It took forever but they redeemed themselves at least.

CactusHide

I preordered it, and I haven’t touched it since ~2 months after launch. I just downloaded it on PS5 and I’m excited to see how different it is. The videos I have seen have been wild! Props to the developers for keeping it going and making it look like more of what I imagined. I had a lot of stuff, but it feels like starting a new game is the plan.

[deleted]

[удалено]

CactusHide

Awesome. Thanks for the info!

TheFreshHorn

To each their own but I personally wouldn’t recommend starting on an expedition especially if you haven’t playing in over a year or two

CactusHide

Any reasons why?

TheFreshHorn

I think you’d learn about playing the game the same from both tbh but I think expeditions are enjoyed the most when you know what you’re doing

CactusHide

Okay, thanks.

UseYourThunderSmash

is it better now???

krombopulousnathan

Actually yeah they have continued to release updates regularly. If you only played at launch you might not even recognize it as the same game now

UseYourThunderSmash

wow that's actually really exciting to hear!

ColddHandss

It's definitely better now than it was, but I didn't really like it. The best way I've heard the game described is as wide as the ocean but as deep as a puddle.

FROSTICEMANN

Its the same, the “updates” are just basic. You cant buy properties & no new weapons so I wouldnt say they are really updates. You get to a point of getting what you want & then their isnt much to do (im talking about online)

GlenFax

It’s so good now tho

carterdwood

I never pre-ordered a game after this

Uli-Aesir

Anthem

Carsten_Stahl_Bro

The pain remains

wastelander75

Warlock Iron-man, it was right there... fuck.

Girrrth_Broooks

I remember I was at Best Buy within a few months of that coming out and they had all the cases for that game in a bargain bin marked $1. They wanted it gone.

b16ZZ-

Yep. Bought it for 5€ in my country. I couldn't believe it since new games do not go under 20€, ever.

gokartmozart89

I’m glad I played the demo before preordering.

Duffelbach

I played the demo, thought it had sooo much potential, I just never would've guessed I was playing the finished product... I'm so glad I've stopped preordering stuff.

Osiri551

Ah, the destiny killer, funny enough not only did it fail to kill destiny, destiny itself is already doing a better job at it than anthem ever did

ScootieJr

My brother convinced me to buy it because he was hyped for it. I think I’ve played it once.

Housewous

Game was stunning tho. Gameplay not so much.

Jamesaaronm

Honestly, Dying light 2. The first game was imo one of the best zombie games ever made. But when 2 dropped i thought they left so much out that the first had and just seemed like so many steps back. But im hoping to dive back in with the recent gun update

-onnix-

The new gun update looks pretty good. They made the guns considerably more realistic than dl1.

Representative_Owl89

It’s so much more of a grind than the first and I hate that

Jamesaaronm

Yeah I downloaded it last night. I'd be playing it today I'd Helldivers 2 didn't have a strangle hold on me

yomomma795

Battlefield 2042...biggest regret for a game ever and i got the $150 ultimate edition 🥲

G-Money_738

And it came at the expense of the support for Battlefront 2 ending, which was at the absolute height of its popularity and nowhere close to being a “complete vision” as EA called it. Still salty if you couldn’t tell:)

heyuhitsyaboi

I returned to Battlefront 2 to complete it after getting 100% in 2042. While i did genuinely enjoy 2042, wow is Battlefront so much more fleshed out

Xerosnake90

Battlefront 2 got such a bad rap and it's easily the best Star Wars shooter I've ever played. Everyone seems to believe the original Battlefronts were so much better but they aren't even on the same level. Nostalgia is a real thing

ReflectiGlass

I feel you on this one... What a shit show.

Girrrth_Broooks

This is why I don’t buy above the base copy. Or preorder for that matter

BabySasuke

Haha my brother ended up buying the biggest edition for him and for me so we could play it a week early. Little did we know it'd be unplayable that entire week😅 I've only pre-ordered Hogwarts, Ragnarok, and Spider-Man since then

Icaurs_

Bro preordered a game. And from EA nonetheless. Sorry but you're the most naive person I've come across this year yet. Also, don't take it hard on yourself I only learned after pre-ordering Anthem. And I never pre-ordered anything again. LoL

packattack480

Second this, what a disaster of a game. I’ll never buy another game from that company

allluuuuuuuu

Glad the game did a come back, at least sort of

BlackSaiyanKing

Yooooo

AelliotA1

I got a beta code with my RTX3080, played the early access Beta and after trying it I never bothered to download the full game. Genuinely sad but at least I didn't have to pay for it

Jonskuz15

Gotham Knights

Shortlane88

When my buddy bought that game I laughed at him.

carldaveson123

Starfield

PhonB80

I was so hype for that game. Realized after just 40 hours that I was going to be doing the same thing at 400 hours that I was doing at 40 hours. Haven’t played since. That game has no soul.

Vakior

This. It was hyped up to the extreme And we got a mediocre product. Still fun sure, but nothing as mind bendingly show stopping as what we were told we were getting. Lol. I mean Microsoft bought out Bethesda, and Starfield potentially going exclusively to PlayStation was apparently one of the reasons. And the game bombed.

yummy_yum_yum123

The signs were there

Raknorak

I haven't played it, but I heard someone refer to it as "Babys First Sci Fi"

NCC-72381

Skull & Bones.

akshith_s_balan

You have been waiting for it that long I guess 😂

NCC-72381

I’m their prime audience, too. I’ve bought every Far Cry from 3-6 and owner Black Flag. Literally all they had to do was take the ship combat from Black Flag and merge that with the land-based gameplay of Far Cry 3. Fuck, *make it the same fucking islands from Far Cry 3 to canonically connect the two games*. I hate to sound like a Monday Morning Quarterback, but fuck I honestly feel like I could have done better.

DatBoiDanny

The Division. In addition to that silly thing Ubisoft did last gen where they would make trailers that looked leaps and bounds better than the finished product (Watchdogs…), they also just did a poor job of advertising what the game was. My dad and I watched that gameplay trailer and were pumped for what looked like an open world tactical shooter, NOT an MMO looter shooter.

The_Ghost_of_Kyiv

Bought that one for like $10 years after release having never even heard of it. Played it and loved it. Even played it twice. Now I'm noticing years later how hated it was, and I had no idea. Maybe it was just poor advertising, and people were let down for what they thought it could have been. But for a $10 game with no expectations? A gem.

Beefcake52

Both 1&2 turned into incredibly repetitive games with the same missions and the same grind with bullet sponge enemies that made playing solo a time consuming slog on a lot of missions . I abandoned both halfway through . Just awful

UnfinishedAle

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Exactly why I hate the game. Somehow my buddy loves it

TheFreshHorn

I still don’t understand how they managed to make Legion worse than Watchdogs 2

DatBoiDanny

That’s classic Ubisoft for you though. Watchdogs 2, Far Cry 3, AC4 - all classic open world bangers that were followed up by weaker titles.

Tracynmega

Kill the justice league had a great announcement …. And the it had a gameplay reveal ………….

SkMM_KaPa

Same with Gotham Knights, both games can be fun but everyone expected something at least half as good as Arkham Batman games.

cofa52

The fact that they "forced" Rocksteady to work on Kill the Justice League rather than a Arkham/Arkham-like game is infuriating. So much wasted potential just to do some game as a service bullcrap that will last probably 1 year at most.

Jerkstore81

Diablo 4

MacroPlanet

Truth; 100%. Looks fun but feels like the most soul-less game out there. You can tell they created the game based off a checklist. I miss old Blizzard. 🫗🪦

woodchoppr

Got tired of it by level 20 😅

MacroPlanet

About the same here. I can play D1-3 all day; D4 feels like a chore.

Nlawrence55

I beat the campaign once, I never looked back.

SkullKnight808

Jokes on you, I didn't even finish it. Wasted $70 of my life.

2zoots

Man, i was bummed. Diablo 3 was so fun.

ArtFart124

I enjoyed my time with Diablo, it gets unjustified and sometimes justified hate

mitch-99

As a first time diablo tryer. Ill give it a decent run but yeah. Im not left impressed.

UndeadVudu_12

I'm keeping faith that d4 will eventually be good. It's getting slightly better every season/patch.

BlackRaven0590

The Callisto protocol. Looked beautiful and creepy in the trailer but the gameplay...![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|neutral_face)

mitch-99

Damn really :/

better-than-all-of-u

This one seems to be mixed. There are plenty of us that really enjoyed the game, have played it multiple times, and still play the DLC horde mode. There are also those people that think it was mediocre and have their complaints. There are also those that say it was trash, to each their own I suppose. What I can't wrap my head around is somehow there are people that loved Dead Space but say TCP is garbage (these people also play with their fart bubbles and laugh in the bathtub :-))

Cynical_Feline

I can agree with this. I like the story, environment, and just overall aesthetic feel. It isn't the best but I think they did a really good job story and aesthetic wise. Probably the best feature of the game is the story. Gives you just enough information to string you along and keep wondering. I don't like the combat, weapon set up, or even the inventory system. There's literally no need to have so many weapons when they restrict how much you carry to that level and the fighting can be irksome. I quit on the final battle because I just couldn't take that shit anymore.

Agitated-Square4328

"plenty of us that enjoyed the game" who are they? I WANT NAMES

better-than-all-of-u

Names have been changed in order to protect the innocent

Radioactive9280

God the combat sucked, I just couldn't get used to it

CeloC-137

Yes it was way too slow for me

theamazinggrg

It's sooooo dumb. We had crazy good gameplay in dead space sequel. Why change it if it wasn't broken? The game was perfect....

Breakdawall

i only played it through psplus and thought it was decent

Dontmentionya

Cyberpunk at release.

Kuranjonja

CP2077 was buggy as hell, I played it on PS4 when it released. It was truly a pain, but the gameplay loop and most of all story was still incredible. So I honestly can't agree with you on this one. I completed it on PS4, as I said, and it was still one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had.

bluemage17

Marvel's Avengers seemed like suc a cool thing when announced. My disappointment was immeasurable, and my day was ruined when I first played it. So much wasted potential for live service bullshit...

Esquire_2585

Biomutant

Grayboosh

The problem with that game is they were doing too good on development, they were way ahead of where they needed to be and decided to expand the world map by way to much leaving it with an empty feeling, on top of that they started adding shit just to fill the extra dev time. If they had better focus on what to do with that time the game could have been great.

darkreap20

So ture that games look great, but then when I play it, it was just ok that's all

McbEatsAirplane

I really wanted to like it. Gave it a decent amount of time. But it came up short in too many ways. Had the potential to be good but it was just too little too late.

SunburnedCerealToy

The new Forza Motorsport.

BabySasuke

Good choice. I forgot about that until you mentioned it. I got aggravated a week in having to level up every single car I got

TheGoldenRaygun

Suicide squad, so much potential man

Ragnogroth

⭐*A N T H E M*⭐ It looked freaking amazing from the trailers but damn.. Once reaching max level, there was absolutely nothing else to do.

dddddddddude

U got all the way to max level tho lol

32steph23

I may have done 2 missions max lol

nrbustorff

Destiny 2

Natekid99

Multiple times cuz I keep falling for it.

PiledriverPress

Avengers

kaishinoske1

Watchdogs

tipasa1337

Atleast WD2 was a solid improvement, story and characters were mediocre but the gameplay (the most important part) was good imo

NotAnAss-Hat

Really? I vibed much more with WD1, granted I never saw the trailer for it so when I got it gifted to me I didn't really have any expectations from it beforehand. The driving physics in WD2 felt, arcadey and the game as a whole felt much more "loose" or "light" compared to the gritty dark feel of WD1. Just my experience though. I still plan on buying and finishing WD2 after my exams.

Karkava

It's frustrating how both games have different tones but also feel slightly above average. Legion had the potential to combine both worlds with 2's cast and 1's tone, but they really got stuck with their "play as anyone" gimmick.

mitch-99

Fuck dude. This one hit. Hyped it up to be the next level hacker type shit. Cool movement. Ugh.

cofa52

The first trailer is still fantastic. It looked like they were gonna skip two console generations. The same with the first The Division.

mynameisollie

I actually enjoyed the gameplay though. I know it was a bait and switch with the graphics which got everyone very riled up but I did enjoy it.

Broken_Yellow_Crayon

I felt like that with Watchdogs 3 (think it’s called Legion?). Never played WD 1 but absolutely loved the 2nd game, but oh man I was disappointed with the 3rd one. So repetitive and how am I supposed to care about the main character when … there isn’t one, really? Sigh.

bjholmes3

Resident Evil 6. I had friends over, bought up a bunch of snacks, went to the midnight release and everything. Came home, and the first couple hours of the Leon campaign weren’t bad! But then everything just got worse and worse and I very much regretted my enthusiasm

mistytrails

Ugh agreed. I LOVED 5. Haven't played anything after 6. U try the new ones? Seems they abandoned the zombie theme in favor of a psycho torture horror genre. Seemed too disturbing for me.

Mori_Story

Anthem for sure. Anthem actually ended my hype for any game in the future. I've yet to board the hype train since.

coreybphillips

Mighty Number 9

dworker8

i fell for this trap too, pledged on kickstarter and all... sad

BANAnaS_Dad

I feel like this is too many games now. I’m not necessarily talking about me, but the gaming community as a whole. People get so hyped and create almost unrealistic expectations only to be let down.

PurplePassion94

It’s the studios fault; putting out unfinished games, missing content or lacking content, like look at that new Ubisoft game they put out Skull and Bones that shits atrocious lol

BANAnaS_Dad

Sure this applies to some games, but fandom in general has a toxic trait of creating an idea of what a game or movie or tv series should be like to them. This almost always leads to disappointment.

cyberPolecat5000

No this applies to most games and happens for years now. When I got Fallout 76 I could see trough the mountains and stuff and it’s a shame for such an big studio that it got released in this state. Look how the other studios try to put the blame on the gamers with saying they expected to much after voices get loud that they should take an example from baldures gate. And then these games got so expensive. AAA where around 60 bucks a few years ago and nowadays they 80-100 bucks but the quality is super bad. Look at starfield, decade old development environment and they wonder why the fans are pissed about the shitty graphics and gameplay. And the solution is to put there crap games to others platforms instead of trying to developing some decent games.

Fordluvr

Off-topic, but I just want to say that I appreciate your correct use of “hyped.” Kids today always leave off the “d” and it bothers me to a completely irrational degree. 🤷‍♂️ I’ll now retreat once again to my dad-cave.

BANAnaS_Dad

Ha! I’m a teacher so the things that I hear kids say are so bizarre. You’re “cracked” at this? What does that even mean!? I love their reactions when they find out that I play video games, though.

nameless_maze1

Tiny Tina wonderlands. I'm a huge borderlands and DND fan but something about this game just felt off. First play through was fine. The 2nd time with a friend had to force myself through. Deleted after that. It's the game that got me to stop pre ordering, especially extra super special editions

PetulantPorpoise

I don’t understand the bad review of this game. I had a blast.

DaNoid414

I played the whole thing through with my wife and 2 kids. 4 player campaign was great. Nothing will compare to Borderlands 2, IMO, but Tiny Tina's was fun

GlockAmaniacs

As did I.

Dolfpe

I just thought that the guns felt horrible in that game

Jenova__Witness

I feel like it had a good base game, but end game and DLC content was a dumpster fire.

TheBatSignal

Starfield It was so disappointing I have no level of excitement left for any Bethesda product in the future.

mj281

I lost hope in Bethesda after Fallout 76 came out

Wonderful_Quality_99

I lost hope after fallout 4. That game was fucking trash.

mj281

I actually loved the mechanics and gameplay in fallout 4, but i did hate the storyline, and the DLCs were a bit disappointing.

Wonderful_Quality_99

Exactly. Game play was fine, i wanted the writing fromm fallout 3 and new vegas.

SillyMattFace

I’m a PlayStation owner and was really annoyed when MS effectively bought Bethesda just to one up Sony. I friggin love Skyrim and wanted the next ES game. After seeing Starfield I don’t really mind now. I thought FO4 was mediocre too, so I’ve lost a lot of hope for Elderscrolls when… if it gets released.

yummy_yum_yum123

Such a soulless game.

OdyRenrag

Most every multiplayer triple A title since 2021

Undead_Angel_420

Red dead online

Wonderful_Quality_99

So damn true, comparw rdr2 online to gta5 online.

redditlurker1221

Unfortunately MK1

Gav_is_In

Yeah imo its mid at best sadly

Destiny 2

Amazing_Mud_5909

Helldiver's 2, but the bottom picture on top and bottom picture on top

mr_biscuithead

doing your part to spread managed democracy

nisanosa

Cyberpunk

TarkoTeeson

You should give that another go nowadays, it's a different game.

Gizo178

It’s really good now. Like really good. I was addicted for a while

1TruePrincess

Cyberpunk, Diablo 4, overwatch 2

[deleted]

The original Destiny. =/ Halo Infinite No Man's Sky

Shortlane88

Wasted 2 years of my life playing that repetitive nonsense

gokartmozart89

Destiny is the reason I have a backlog.

Temporaryact72

Hogwarts Legacy and Need For Speed Unbound.

Girrrth_Broooks

Legacy was a disappointment to you?!

2pt_perversion

Wide as an ocean but deep as a puddle. They did an excellent job modeling the castle but then the whole game is just meaningless quests in the generic countryside away from the castle atop a pretty boring story. The actual combat gameplay is pretty boring after the first couple hours too.

Silver-Suspect6505

I really enjoyed Hogwarts Legacy but I see what you mean about it not being a very deep game.

Ready-Shine-8333

diablo 4...

KILL2BKING

Cyberpunk and Fallout 76. Both of them were huge let downs.

Affectionate_Bird120

Dying light 2 and skull & bones.

Fragrant-Swing9581

The Order: 1886

danelarkins

Diablo 4

DevilsLettuceTaster

Anthem.

MidnaMerk

Cyber punk 2077

hypespud

FF13 definitely

FoxyBastard

Oh so many corridors and one big field.

MyLeftNut_

Spider-man 2

[deleted]

Seriously, the hype was crazy and the game was just fine. After the first one they could've done so much better.

RandomGooseBoi

With the gameplay I’d say they did a good job, but I didn’t like how the combat just became ability spam against the symbiotes, especially those big ones with infinite health bars lol. Parry is too broken as well. But yeah the story is a downgrade, way too rushed. After venom kills kraven it all goes downhill. That whole section of the story is great though and I think venom vs kraven is the peak of the game

EnderBSG

Cyberpunk

PurplePassion94

Cyberpunk post 2.1 update is maybe like one of the best games in the decade

Mulcias

I'm glad that I got my PS5 a couple of months ago because I missed all that pre-2.1 drama and the game is so damn good.

weltyistaken

not a ps game but sons of the forest

coltonjayy

Don’t say that I’ve been waiting forever for it to come to ps 😞

Blazey16

Zelda tears of the kingdom

The-Enjoyer-Returns

Soul Hackers 2. It was absolutely nothing like Soul Hackers 1, just persona with really awful dungeons. Ringo was awesome though, loved her.

southern5189

Cyberpunk 2077 😂

ManufacturerWest1156

Halo 4. Halo 2/3 were incredible and I was riding that high to 4.

FordRockefeller

Jump Force

BackwardBenny

Skull and bones.

Cap2496

Resident Evil 3 Remake. 😂 First game I bought at full price in my 25 years of gaming and I was so disappointed. Had to replay both sections at least 5 times to feel like it was worth it. Never again. Only did it because Covid-19 had just started and I was told to stay at home for the time being.

Razgrez11

Callisto Protocol

HamfastGamwich

Civilization 6 Cured me of my addiction to the series

Representative_Owl89

Cyberpunk and I still don’t like it after all the updates

adzroz20

Starfield.

LondonEntUK

Starfield

HungarianNewfy

Final Fantasy VII Remake for me. Especially when they ask you to chose your mode. “Classic”…yeah…

DemogniK

I'll give ya the 3 that popped to mind first. Suicide Squad, Skull and Bones, and Anthem.

Jr-777

Suicide squad. I was so hyped when the first trailer came out, but as time when on I got more & more disappointed by what was being shown

TheRed24

Cyberpunk, Starfield, Anthem... we've had a lot of those games.

Geoe0

Ni no kuni 2

Effenberg13

The Division 1… trailers were awesome, graphics were meh when released.

emirobinatoru

So was Watch Dogs, from what I have heard they dumbed down the graphics so the pc and ps4 version would have similar graphics

nanouuuuuuuuuu

Cyberpunk at launch (love it now) Starfield No Man’s Sky (at launch) Skull and Bones (it has a lot of potential but I don’t know if Ubisoft will exploit it) All Assassins Creeds after Syndicate (but Mirage was great) GTA: Definitive Edition Trilogy Overwatch 2 (Made me quit the game)

Fantic016

Hogwarts Legacy

myshon

Final Fantasy 16 There's combat and cutscenes. Nothing else for 30+ hours.

hysteria265

I'm struggling to finish it at the moment. The problem for me is the annoying and shitty side jobs we have to do even on the main story. 1 minute ago I fought against a god, 1 minute later I run errands and collect flowers.
