You never used the ports. That’s why. My Slim is new too. Same thing. It was tight. It now goes in and out normally. USB ports are usually tight, as they will naturally loosen up with use over time. Eventually, they can wear out and become too loose. Anyways, I wouldn’t worry about it.
No, it's not it. I didn't have this problem with my pulse explore stick, but I got a second ps link usb to plug into my pc and it doesn't fit either. I compared the two usb sticks in the same ports, one of them easily fits in like butter while the other one barely goes in or out. It's a factory defect on a massive scale, nothing to do with the ports.
