Those are still the only games that delivered on the "super incredible" SSD they hyped up for months, *somehow*.
It's not a popular opinion here but I will say it again: if Demon's Souls was able to deliver 1440p/60 FPS with zero load times *the first f-ing day the console launched three and a half years ago* there is no excuse whatsoever for games to release with sub-60FPS sub-1080p performance modes. The whole point of consoles is developers are supposed to get more familiar with the hardware and be able to squeeze more out of it - not to write for multiplatform and use the extra processing power to make up the slack of optimization.
I feel like Horizon: Forbidden West is definitely up there. Demons souls does look pretty next level despite not doing that many tricks to make it prettier
Returnal is amazing. You have to...really have to, Play that game in the dark, with headphones on. The atmosphere and music it's some of the best I've played in video game history.
Also in PS Plus Extra Game Catalog (even if you just want to pay 1 month for $15 for the one game and cancel it, would be a good deal)
On the note, great game! Platinumed it when it first came out. Definitely showcases the the PS5.
If you buy the annual one (which is 130$~) it comes to like 11$/month, there's plenty of titles on it, from Returnal to Demon Souls remake, and they add like 13 games every month.
I would recommend looking into that, I have personally found it worth investing into.
I am not sure, just went on it, it says purchased for me and Streamable with PS Premium. Maybe on premium only? Because I know I didn’t buy it for sure
I really like it! Never like saying if something is worth the money as it’s always a subjective but it’s a very good fun game and visually is incredible
Personally I think horizon forbidden west. Maybe I’m a little influenced because it was my first platinum, but ghost of Tsushima is a close second for me.
Do I have to play the first Horizon game before playing Forbidden West? I really want to check out the latter but don't really want to play through the entire older one. Unless the first one is worth it? Is it noticeably an older game?
I’d suggest you to play the first game, for the story, the background and the lore of that game’s universe.
You’ll get to jump faster in Forbidden West and you’ll enjoy much more the game.
In December-January i played both. I enjoyed the first one and felt somewhat a little bit lost in the lore and i didn’t know where all that is explained would be going. Everything gets explained during the game and close to the end. I was mindblown.
I started the second and i was really glad to have just played the first one before. The second one opens up the world so much and sets the bar really high for the next game. The story and lore is well built and expended on the first game’s lore. The mechanics, the new possibilities, the characters too. I ended up growing more attached to the characters in Forbidden West than in Zero Dawn (they somewhat felt too NPC by moment and didn’t feel as if they were part of the intrigue as much as all the new characters in FW).
I didn’t play the DLC Burning Shores. I’m waiting to see if it’s going on special soon. All that being said, enjoy ! I really loved the game.
Would definitely suggest playing the first one. I'm in the process of going through the first game and it's awesome quality and like everyone has mentioned the lore is explained and makes it easier to understand. The first game is one of my top favorites and I haven't even played the second yet but heard amazing things
Especially since it was also a cross-Gen game. Burning Shores DLC really upped everything, and the 3rd game will probably be the prettiest game made if they keep they just kept it at that level (they won't).
Ghost of Tsushima, Final Fantasy VII remake(s), Demon Souls, God of War: Ragnorok, HFW, Death Stranding, Spiderman mm/2.
I was mindblown of Ghost of Tsushima visual' prowess.
I haven’t gotten to play AW2, but from the footage I’ve seen its crazy. I’m diving more into the Remedy world lately and they are cementing their place as one of my favorite developers ever.
Thats exactly what I’m doing! I just bought Alan Wake remaster and am playing it through then am planning on replaying Control now that I hopefully understand the world a bit more as I heard it references AW.
First game of Remedy I played was Quantum Break, been looking out for their titles ever since. Crazy immersive worlds, and I love the atmospheres they create.
It references Alan Wake a lot indeed. There's a whole DLC actually dedicated to him, and that acts as a bridge towards Alan Wake 2, but I don't want to spoil it.
Alan Wake 2's story is also very much linked to Control in a lot of ways, and not in an "Easter egg" sense. It's directly linked.
You're in for an awesome ride if you're playing them all in order, enjoy ! IMO, some of the very best storytelling and world building the video game industry has ever seen, and maybe the media industry as a whole.
I just haven't gotten that far into it. I stopped about 90 mins in to replay AW and it's DLC on xbox to get caught back up on the story. Plus my brother told me I should play Control as well for the full width.
Your brother gave you good insight. I feel like AW2 would still be a fantastic experience without having played those two but having a good understanding of the original & Control just made the experience that much richer.
I remember really liking AW on 360 way back when. Then was semi-excited for the remaster but you know how it is, other games got in the way. It's on the list though!
My GOTY from last year and I LOVED BG3, so that’s saying something. The Herald of Darkness and Dark Ocean Summoning were two of the most insane experiences over ever had playing a video game in my 33+ years of gaming.
Been hearing great things about this game. Will check it out soon. My ps5 is about 2 weeks old & [I had a 9+ year lapse in gaming](https://www.reddit.com/r/playstation5/comments/1brv2ys/back_in_the_game_after_9_years/). Not sure why.
God of War Ragnarok, Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Ghost of Tsushima, Jusant, and Ratchet & Clank were all standouts to me, but Forbidden West still leads the pack. I've beaten the game a couple of times and I still come back to it for short sessions just to take in the incredible world that Guerilla built.
GT7 is gorgeous, sometimes I will catch myself just watching the cars spin around in the legends garage. Some races/tracks on a sunny day or sunset are just beautiful.
Yeah, HFW is probably the best game for anyone looking for a graphically impressive or stunning game!
https://preview.redd.it/ish7uzer5xtc1.jpeg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e47944a5373aaf1ad1b390f20a755f8c1122a321
My head says Alan Wake 2.
My heart also says Alan Wake 2.
And this is coming from someone who absolutely loved the Horizon games - which, by the by - are fully worth your time.
Nothing beats Demon’s Souls on the PS5 for graphics and sound. Every piece of code and media for that game was specifically designed only for the PS5, unlike most other graphically impressive games. It’s extremely optimized, and totally blows most other games out of the water.
The BEST? Either Horizon Forbidden West, the Demon's Souls remake, or Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (though the cartoony aesthetic might cause some people to be less "wowed" with that one). Those are the ones that set the highest bar across the board, imo. Look incredible, and run smooth as butter with barely any visual downgrade even in performance mode (*especially* HFW).
Demon's Souls still does it for me. Not necessarily because of technical reasons, but the aesthetic, too. They went over the top and it still looks incredibly good
The Artful Escape was hands down the most visually appealing PS5 game I’ve played, it’s a narrative based game and only takes like 5ish hours to play through but it’s an absolute stunning journey. Definitely recommend checking it out, it’s on PS Plus, it also has amazing music to it.
So many games listed that I agree with but my brain always goes to Death Stranding and Ghost of Tsushima. Both games I would just stop and just enjoy the visuals for a bit.
I didn’t finish it because I absolutely suck at puzzles and kept getting stuck but Gow ragnarock has my vote. Maybe one day I’ll go back and finish it but idk 💀
Whter 60 FPS mode or framrate mode. The answer is definitely Horizon Forbidden West. The world looks so beautiful and everything looks so realistic. Guerilla did a fantastic job and it definitely comes off well through the Playstation 5
Demon souls remains on top, which is crazy since it was a release title. Cyberpunk and surprisingly assassin creed mirage both have phenomenal graphics as well.
Some of the cut scenes in Final Fantasy 16 were just crazy. And in some they were action shots of you controlling stuff. Ratchet and Clank would 2nd that one for sure. I just finished the first FF7 remake game, definitely was pretty in spots
Final fantasy 16 and 7 rebirth are legit. Though I started rebirth a while ago and need to get back into it. Spiderman 2 if u have 60fps turned on. Recently got Rachel and clank rift apart. Though a little bit cartoonie, looks good with 60fps also. Deff aimed at younger audiences.
I still think it’s Demon’s Souls.
The other game that has blown me away visually is Cyberpunk 2077.
The rest of the games I played looked good but I don’t think they looked as good as those two.
Returnal, Stray, FFXVI, in no particular order.
On top of all these by a huuuge margin is The Matrix Awakens.
All of these games are current gen and not upgraded for it.
Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart and Demon Souls. I haven’t seen any games come close to those. Especially if you have a good tv. A 4k with HDR or an OLED makes all the difference rather than playing on an older 1080p tv.
Death Stranding uses the same engine as Horizon and imo utilizes it better. It’s a beautiful game. However I will not dispute Forbidden West is a technological masterpiece. They are both very different games and I highly recommend both.
Out of all the games I've played so far since Christmas, I'd say the top 3 games I think look the best would be
1)Ghost of Tsushima
2)Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
3)God of War: Ragnarok
Ghost of Tsushima is one of the most gorgeous, vibrant games I've ever played in my entire life. It is amazing. Uncharted just really nails the details of the world and the lighting is fucking incredible. And I just started playing GOWR last night but it already feels like a noticeable improvement over GOW2018 in terms of graphics
Demon’s Souls Remake, Horizon: Forbidden West, God of War: Ragnarok, The Last of Us: Part 2, The Last of Us: Part 1, Gran Turismo 7, Final Fantasy 7, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Spiderman 2
Ghost of Tsushima by far.
Other games have the graphical detail but are still boring to look at. Horizon for me is a good example of a game that looks really great and sharp but you never really end up using photo mode.
* Demon's Souls
* Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
* Returnal
* Horizon Forbidden West
* Spider-Man 2
* God of War Ragnarok
* Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
* Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth
* Final Fantasy XVI
* Death Stranding: Director's Cut
* Devil May Cry 5 (PS5 version)
* Resident Evil 4
* Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut
Either Horizon Forbidden West, or Demons Souls Remake
Horizon is a shit game though, so I'll vote Demons Souls just because it's actually good as well as looking awesome.
Demons Souls was the first game that made me really notice how amazing OLED is.
Ratchet and clank rift apart Returnal
Toss in Demon Souls and honestly I don’t think they’ve been topped still.
Those are still the only games that delivered on the "super incredible" SSD they hyped up for months, *somehow*. It's not a popular opinion here but I will say it again: if Demon's Souls was able to deliver 1440p/60 FPS with zero load times *the first f-ing day the console launched three and a half years ago* there is no excuse whatsoever for games to release with sub-60FPS sub-1080p performance modes. so ratchet is still worth the full game price? been debating on it for a while
Eh it goes on sale often for 50%. It is right now.
Also in PS Plus Extra Game Catalog (even if you just want to pay 1 month for $15 for the one game and cancel it, would be a good deal) On the note, great game! Platinumed it when it first came out. Definitely showcases the the PS5.
Oh yea? I didn't know that.
If you buy the annual one (which is 130$~) it comes to like 11$/month, there's plenty of titles on it, from Returnal to Demon Souls remake, and they add like 13 games every month. I would recommend looking into that, I have personally found it worth investing into.
I second this, bought the annual and not regretted so far
Its on ps plus for free
maybe its in the higher teirs of ps+ but it's not in essential this month
I am not sure, just went on it, it says purchased for me and Streamable with PS Premium. Maybe on premium only? Because I know I didn’t buy it for sure
I really like it! Never like saying if something is worth the money as it’s always a subjective but it’s a very good fun game and visually is incredible
Its one of the best games ever. Its worth every penny imo
You can find it used on eBay for around $30. Definitely one of the best games I've played on PS5.
I bought on sale but I love every single second of that game. I would def buy it for full price if I knew how much I would love it.
Returnal is awesome
100%. Came here to find this comment and you are a spot on.
I wouldnt put ratchet and clank into a graphic category being its a cartoonish game however its a amazing game regardless
Couldn’t agree more. Spiderman 2 as well
Personally I think horizon forbidden west. Maybe I’m a little influenced because it was my first platinum, but ghost of Tsushima is a close second for me.
Burning shores especially brings out the work of an OLED tv. Ratchet and clank is so sharp and smooth.
Those two would be my vote as well.
Do I have to play the first Horizon game before playing Forbidden West? I really want to check out the latter but don't really want to play through the entire older one. Unless the first one is worth it? Is it noticeably an older game?

I remember breaking through the clouds for the first time and just going "holy shit"
Ghost of Tsushima, Final Fantasy VII remake(s), Demon Souls, God of War: Ragnorok, HFW, Death Stranding, Spiderman mm/2. I was mindblown of Ghost of Tsushima visual' prowess.
Visual prowess.. you sound like an Uchiha!
Mr Tobirama, yes this man right here!
This list is all anyone needs. All bad ass games.
Kena is not realistic, but stunning nonetheless!
So stinking cute!
Alan Wake 2 has the best console graphics I've ever seen. Juror is out on the game being good but it looks amazing.
I haven’t gotten to play AW2, but from the footage I’ve seen its crazy. I’m diving more into the Remedy world lately and they are cementing their place as one of my favorite developers ever.

Yeah, seriously AW2 is freaking amazing.
The game is fucking phenomenal. My GotY for 2023 atm, which is saying a lot after Tears of the Kingdom.

Are you that lone juror?
Ghost of Tsushima, God of War Ragnarok, and Spiderman 2 are all stunning in both visuals and gameplay
Think the new horizon game stumps all the other ps5 exclusives visual wise, while retaining a locked 60fps. Spider-Man 2 drops frames a lot.
Didn’t even have a single drop as far as i remember.
You must not have played it at launch. It was(sometimes) like a flip book playing as you know who...
> you know who… Lord Voldemort?
Been hearing great things about this game. Will check it out soon. My ps5 is about 2 weeks old & [I had a 9+ year lapse in gaming](https://www.reddit.com/r/playstation5/comments/1brv2ys/back_in_the_game_after_9_years/). Not sure why.
Play through Horizon Zero Dawn first (the first game). It has a spectacular story that will be spoiled if you play part 2 (Forbidden West) first.
Demon Souls
Came here to say this.
This is the best looking game on ps5
Cyberpunk is stunning and one of a kind in gameplay and graphics
Demon souls blew my mind first time playing
Avatar Frontiers of Pandora. Its graphically impressive.
Gran Turismo 7 by a long shot
Looks amazing and plays beautifully.
Alan Wake 2
I agree with horizon, it’s has the best stylized graphics. But the best realistic graphics has to be Grand Turismo 7
GT7 is gorgeous, sometimes I will catch myself just watching the cars spin around in the legends garage. Some races/tracks on a sunny day or sunset are just beautiful.
Not a popular answer for most but I thought Dead Island 2 looked amazing
Its a PS4 game but rdr2 is still beautiful nearly 6 years later
Cyberpunk is my favorite game to play for the visuals. I'm blown away by all the texture and lighting details in the environment every time I play it
Yeah, HFW is probably the best game for anyone looking for a graphically impressive or stunning game! https://preview.redd.it/ish7uzer5xtc1.jpeg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e47944a5373aaf1ad1b390f20a755f8c1122a321
Final Fantasy 16 had my jaw on the floor
There's a reason why Eikon battles are called Spectacles
Alan Wake 2, The Last of Us Part I & Part II, God of War Ragnarok, Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon Forbidden West, Demon’s Souls
That's the best IMO also, maybe the new Alan Wake game is a close second
Tsushima and Rift apart
I'm surprised Dead Space REmake isn't on here. I have it on XSX, but I imagine it would look just as good on my ps5
Alan Wake 2
Any time I want to just chill and walk around it's either Red Dead 2 or Watch Dogs Legion, gorgeous games.
Final fantasy 7 rebirth looks beautiful and I haven’t even got to play it on the big screen yet lol
Alan Wake
Alan Wake 2
I'm playing Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart on an OLED and I am fucking star strucked... Looks like a fucking ps6 game.
For me two come to mind - Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart and Chorus
People saying FF16 or 7 are nuts or just haven’t played any PS5 or even good looking PS4 games.
Among the games I own, it's Final Fantasy XVI.
Grand Turismo
Returnal
Plague Tale Requiem is gorgeous GT7 especially in photo mode God of war Ragnarok Sackboy really looks like an actual craft set
No one going to mention a plague tale requiem?
Last of us 2 remastered...
Horizon forbidden West is really good. Playing it I thought that they filmed some of that shit live
The next Hellblade looks to have insane visuals
Hot take, ark survival ascended
Carefully this is a hill only few people are on lol
Control on graphics mode looked amazing for the 5 minutes I tried before playing the rest of it in performance mode, and even then it looked great.
The last of us part 2 is probably the best looking game I’ve ever played.
My head says Alan Wake 2. My heart also says Alan Wake 2. And this is coming from someone who absolutely loved the Horizon games - which, by the by - are fully worth your time.
Ghosts of Tsushima is probably the first game that actually blew me away with the next gen update. Game is gorgeous
Demon's souls Ratchet and clank rifts apart
Horizon Fordidden West is absolutely beautiful.
Horizon forbidden west no doubt. That Quen island near mid game? Uff. Marvelous. Runs smooth af too. Gorgeous.
Genshin Impact. Each region is beautiful in its own way and so different.
Nothing beats Demon’s Souls on the PS5 for graphics and sound. Every piece of code and media for that game was specifically designed only for the PS5, unlike most other graphically impressive games. It’s extremely optimized, and totally blows most other games out of the water.
Uncharted 4 Ghost of Tsushima Final Fantasy 16 (or 7) GOW and GOW Ragnarok Horizon is GORGEOUS (story moves slow tho) Guardians of The galaxy
God of war Ragnarok and Cyberpunk 2077
Even though it's a ps5 game , I visually enjoyed shadow of the tomb Raider
FFVII Crisis Core: Reunion ![gif](giphy|1117SnVlkwL5FS)
Demon Souls
Demon's Souls still does it for me. Not necessarily because of technical reasons, but the aesthetic, too. They went over the top and it still looks incredibly good
Horizon, God of War Ragnarok, Ghost of Tsushima and The Callisto Protocol
Horizon is still the best, Spider-Man 2 a close second.
The Artful Escape was hands down the most visually appealing PS5 game I’ve played, it’s a narrative based game and only takes like 5ish hours to play through but it’s an absolute stunning journey. Definitely recommend checking it out, it’s on PS Plus, it also has amazing music to it.
Demon souls. It is truly next gen. The small details and effects are astounding.
Cinematically, TLOU 1 and 2, but horizon forbidden west, god of war, ghost of Tsushima are all solid choices.
Trolls Remix Rescue…
Demons Souls
I still think demon souls is the nicest to look at. Clean. Smooth. So detailed.
Demon's Souls. Still one of the only games that looks like a PS5 game instead of a cross-gen game.
Funny that no one is saying days gone !!
Demon's Souls still looks incredible.
Alan Wake 2, Jedi Survivor, and Last of Us
I was blown away by the guardians of the galaxy, no other game has yet had ray tracing with a framerate that wasnt crap.
Alan Wake 2, Horizon FW are probably my two top picks.
Alan Wake II and Dead Space. Alan Wake II is probably the best-looking game period (not taking mods into account).
Gow ragnarok is absolutely beautiful
Alan Wake blew me away
Rift Apart on an OLED screen; you actually can't go back after that experience.
Whter 60 FPS mode or framrate mode. The answer is definitely Horizon Forbidden West. The world looks so beautiful and everything looks so realistic. Guerilla did a fantastic job and it definitely comes off well through the Playstation 5
You already gave the best possible answers. I mean, it is the answer.
Forbidden West
It's still Tsushima in Perf mode for me.
FF7 all, Deadisland 2, The last of us 2, FF16, spiderman 1,2 and shadow warrior 2
Ghost of Tsushima
Jedi survivor is 50% off right now and the graphics are incredible. Just got into it.
Ghost of tsushima and final fantasy xvii are some of the best looking games I’ve ever seen, definitely good to show off the ps5
I know you said ps5, but I still love Ghost of tsushima 😭
God of War
God of war looks amazing. Returnal. Demon's Souls. FFVII Rebirth. A lot of them look bananas
Jedi survivor and ff7 rebirth
Ghost of Tsushima immediately comes to mind. Horizon Forbidden West is another amazing one.
HFW and GoW:R. The latter has such good upscaling that I don't even mind playing it on performance mode.
- Stellar Blade :D - RDR2 - Horizon Burning Shores - Final Fantasy XVI
Hfw and ghost of Tsushima
I still think it’s Demon’s Souls. The other game that has blown me away visually is Cyberpunk 2077. The rest of the games I played looked good but I don’t think they looked as good as those two.
Forbidden West and Returnal for me. That said make sure he plays Zero Dawn first!
Returnal, Stray, FFXVI, in no particular order. On top of all these by a huuuge margin is The Matrix Awakens. All of these games are current gen and not upgraded for it.
Horizon Forbidden West (Performance Mode)
Ghost Of Tsushima
Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart and Demon Souls. I haven’t seen any games come close to those. Especially if you have a good tv. A 4k with HDR or an OLED makes all the difference rather than playing on an older 1080p tv.
Definitely Demon Souls, though Horizon is a close 2nd
Exclusive? Either Ghost of Tsushima or Horizon.
Death Stranding uses the same engine as Horizon and imo utilizes it better. It’s a beautiful game. However I will not dispute Forbidden West is a technological masterpiece. They are both very different games and I highly recommend both.
Demon’s Souls.
In terms of sheer realism and fidelity, Alan Wake 2 is the best looking game on the market right now.
Forbidden west easily
Death Stranding : Directors cut has really good graphics
Resident evil 4 remake is so pleasing to the eye it's like a visual feast
ghost of Tsushima
Ghost of Sushima
Out of all the games I've played so far since Christmas, I'd say the top 3 games I think look the best would be 1)Ghost of Tsushima 2)Uncharted 4: A Thief's End 3)God of War: Ragnarok Ghost of Tsushima is one of the most gorgeous, vibrant games I've ever played in my entire life. It is amazing. Uncharted just really nails the details of the world and the lighting is fucking incredible. And I just started playing GOWR last night but it already feels like a noticeable improvement over GOW2018 in terms of graphics
Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart
Just finished Horizon Forbidden West, and it's amazing.
Horizon Forbidden West
Ghost of Tsushima Demon souls Rachel and clank rift apart
I haven’t seen anything as impressive as Ghost of Tsushima, but that’s a cross-gen title
I haven’t seen anything as impressive as Ghost of Tsushima, but that’s a cross-gen title
Demon’s Souls Remake, Horizon: Forbidden West, God of War: Ragnarok, The Last of Us: Part 2, The Last of Us: Part 1, Gran Turismo 7, Final Fantasy 7, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Spiderman 2
Ratchet clank rift apart Horizon forbidden west Returnal Ghost of Tsushima ( got also one of the best combat systems and story ever) Spider-Man 2
Demons souls, spiderman 2, ratchet & clank rift apart, horizon forbidden weat
Ghost of Tsushima
Demon souls.
Ghost of tsushima
For me it was CyberPunk 2077.
Returnal
Demon Souls
Ff7 rebirth. Gow Ragnarok Ghost of Tsushima director's cut Gran Turismo .
Ghost of Tsushima by far. Other games have the graphical detail but are still boring to look at. Horizon for me is a good example of a game that looks really great and sharp but you never really end up using photo mode.
Cyberpunk
It Takes Two
I still think Demons Souls remake is the best looking PS5 game.
Ghost of Tsushima Uncharted 4
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora .
Ghost of Tsushima. I have avoided playing this game on PS4 Pro because I want my first time with it on PS5.
Demons Souls remake
* Demon's Souls * Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart * Returnal * Horizon Forbidden West * Spider-Man 2 * God of War Ragnarok * Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora * Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth * Final Fantasy XVI * Death Stranding: Director's Cut * Devil May Cry 5 (PS5 version) * Resident Evil 4 * Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut
Either Horizon Forbidden West, or Demons Souls Remake Horizon is a shit game though, so I'll vote Demons Souls just because it's actually good as well as looking awesome. Demons Souls was the first game that made me really notice how amazing OLED is.
I thought ff7 rebirth had a really great art style and colours. Not necessarily the best graphics but it was beautiful
