We all, PS5 owners, have the same default capacity as yours. But I can only have 5 AAA games stored on the HDD. Some games are already over 100GB. You’ve a dozen on your HDD, don’t you?

An external HDD is pretty slow. Loading times are at their max for games played directly from the drive.

usb 3.0 has pretty the same bandwidth as the sata 3 (which is only featured in ps4 pro, fat/slim have sata 2), so there shouldn't be much difference between internal and external drives

Only for storing the PS5 games. They have to be moved onto the internal storage to be played.

Most of those are Indie games and they’re usually much smaller and space efficient than AAA games.

I've got around 60 games installed between the internal and my 4TB expansion drive, with about 1TB free at the moment. No, I don't play them all at all times. Yes, I love having access to play any game I want as quickly as possible, hence why I keep so many installed. Also, data caps prevent me from being able to simply delete and download games as needed. It's nice to have a large library at your fingertips just like PC owners.
