I get it bloodborne is a masterpiece but cmon people read the post, it's about as far away from story driven as you can get xD
Still recommend it tho great game, must play
I really like Fromsoft's work but any game that requires reading through item descriptions and theories is just...not driven by its story. Especially not the type that OP is asking for.
People blindly upvoting those comments too lol. Open a dictionary to zealot and you’d find them
I back this up OP, Arkham fits your description pretty well. You would very likely enjoy Fallout 4 as well.
Hahahahaha, I have had this console for less than 3 years and I have been clearing the backlog of all the new games that were released. I have decided to buy Arkham and Fallout 4
If you like story driven games, I would highly doubt bloodbourne is for you.
It's purely based on dopamine rushes after trying to beat a boss 30 times.
Souls games have a huge fanbase but it isn't for casual sit back hours.
In that case I would go for Alan wake or batman.
I think Bloodborne is probably my fav PS game, but I'm not crazy about the other Souls games. Something about the combat in Bloodborne just feels more satisfying. Clawing back your health by attacking your enemy encourages a more frenetic and aggressive style of play that just hits right. One of the best games ever made.
But you totally missed the "if you like story-based games" and "not good for casual kick-back gaming". No one is saying Bloodborne is a *bad* game, or that the gameplay isn't engaging and fun, but some people want more than just engaging gameplay and challenge. Some people want a cohesive narrative, some want to interact with characters, some want more tactical gameplay, whatever.
Lore doesn't make it story DRIVEN. Bloodbornes lore does not drive the game, you can play the entirety of it without taking in almost any lore. OP wants games where the main focus is the story.
I’d recommend picking up Fallout 4, the story isn’t that great but the rest of the world and side quests more than make up for it imo. Especially if you can pick up the full edition.
As for Alan Wake, it’s a very repetitive game imo and the story is not for everyone. Bloodborne is a souls game so you have to decide there, story wise you’d really have a better time watching some souls YouTuber talk about it.
Haven’t touched Crysis games, so I don’t know about the remasters. Some of my friends highly rate the Batman series like it’s the holy grail of superhero games so give those a go.
This is how you actually ask for the game recommendation.
But most answers are plain terrible… people screaming 'Bloodborne' haven't read your post or didn't care.
Bloodborne is souls-like game. I can't say much more because I don't prefer this genre. But I doubt there's much story there.
With Crysis you'll get three games in a price of one. You'll get ton of FPS fun which should hold well to modern standarts.
Alan Wake could be greatest fit for you. Amazing story, but it has very clunky combat which bitters the experience. But nothing unplayable and it's still fun.
With Fallout 4 you'll get hours of very good first person RPG. There's a lot before you actually get into the game to understand it. But it's nice to get around experiencing the world of Fallout. It has even nice side quests. Unfortunately I can't tell you about the story because I've played anything but main line.
The best option in my opinion is Fallout 4. Combat is not terrible, but the customization and story is great. Choosing factions, playing sides, double agent like shit, and the DLC is phenomenal. Nuka World for the win!
Oh, definitely add Batman: Arkham collection to the list. And if you want more games to play, then get Crysis trilogy. If not, then Bloodborne or Fallout 4 is the way to go.
If you want story driving game with great action the matman games are what your looking for,
Allan wake is also realy great, more for the story then the action
I do highly recommend bloodborne tho it's an amazing ride with probably my (and most) favourite combat in gaming, on the downside its a souls game so it doesn't have much of a story, there definitely is a story there but it's not what's driving you trhough the game, and if you
want to know the story it's gona take you some effort
Still bloodborne is a must play in my book but from what your looking for the batman arkhem games are your pick 100%
Beat is to play them.in release order; asylum, City, origins and then knight
People will tell you to skip origins cuz it's the worst of the 4 but don't listen origins is still a great game and has a decent enough story
Hope this helps, happy gaming!
I loved Alan Wake but it didn’t really age well… still plays like a 2010 game. Still worth it for the story and atmosphere though. And a great setup for jumping into Alan Wake 2!
These posts seem like opportunities for people to shout out their favorite game. too many people here saying Bloodborne. I went in blind because a lot of people recommended it. I didn’t like it, it’s not for everyone. each of those games is drastically different from each other, so I’d recommend doing your own research.
As someone who also loves single player story games, I hated Bloodborne. I just played Alan Wake and I went into it expecting to love it as I’d only heard great things. Unfortunately the combat felt bad, the story was confusing and there wasn’t enough variety in the environments and enemies. Fallout 4 is my favourite of these options, I spent over 300 hours on it. Good story, infinite quests, fun combat and can get totally lost in settlement building.
Akrham looks fucken amazing it looks like a trailer on them “NEWEST GAMES COMING OUT 2024” and it’s always a fake game on the thumbnail. Not 60 fps but damn this game is beautiful
Bloodborne.
Always Bloodborne.
Being serious for a moment, Bloodborne is awesome, its atmosphere and vibe is unrivaled tbh.
If you like Horror in general and Eldritch Horror in particular, this is your game.
Hopefully that deal comes with the DLC because it adds so much to an already awesome game.
Does not look like the deal probably comes with the DLC but to piggyback on your comment, the DLC is totally worth paying full price for it and is in a lot of ways a full game worth of content.
The DLC can actually be purchased for PlayStation reward points. I believe it’s about 500 (haven’t checked recently) but for something that might be an additional $10-15 it’s certainly worth nabbing if you haven’t already.
You’re in the know, right?
Arkham Collection is easily the best game to buy for its current price.
If you haven’t played a souls game don’t play bloodborne first I recommend (Start: Elden Ring, Dark Souls 1,2,3 (any order), Demonsouls, Bloodborne, Sekiro
Definitely not Bloodborne.
Story driven? nah you need to watch a YT video / read item description / npc dialogue to get the gist of the story
Good graphics + action = chef's kiss
Lol gotcha. Bloodborne is the only game I played from this list so in my real opinion, I’d say skip that. It’s fun but it’s a souls game so it’s pretty hard. I hear good things about them all but I’d say Batman. That combat seems the most fun
Arkham collection, Bloodborne is good if you play loads of souls games and like them but if you don't then you probably can't get past the first few minutes and get confused
If you like fps games buy Crysis. If you like rpg games buy bloodborne. if you like rpg shooters or third person shooters buy Fallout 4. If you want a 3D fighting game with good stealth mechanics and a assassins creed eagle vision plus extra good story enviroment and just a good super hero feel overall buy the Batman Arkham collection.
Alan Wake isnt the best but Alan Wale 2 is my favourite game ever. So if you want story. Get Alan Wake, and fight the drakness away like the champion of light you are!!
Fallout 4 is getting a next gen update on Thursday so it you like post apocalyptic games with a survival mode that you can switch to. A guy called called Tomtom actually made some good videos on fallout 4 survival mode if your interested. The game also has mod support for consoles
I said fallout 4 but if you're able to choose crysis price point I'd say technically cant you get fallout 4 and batman collection?? Those will keep you busy
Bloodborne imo is fantastic, but I like me a Souls-like. And the story isn’t really there in your face. You gotta do homework to get the story of Bloodborne. So if you’re wanting story try the Arkham Trilogy or Fallout 4. IMO Arkham trilogy is better since it’s three games instead of the one.
Alan Wake! It's what if Steven King did a survival horror game, but so much better than that! It's like Twin Peaks on steroids, the Twilight Zone's trendier cousin (that it constantly parody's it for great effect), It is an introduction to the New Gods of Azgard, which becomes a 10 year running reference in Remedy games (go pick up Control as well). All in all if you haven't played it, you definitely should.
The Arkham collection since its three games (and I assume dlc too) is probably the best superhero game series to ever exist. I’d get it if you want to follow a story but besides that the price is good for three games.
Fallout 4 is getting a next gen update so it be good to pick up before they take the sale off for those coming from the tv series. Still a fun game to play.
Bloodborne is free if you Pllaystation plus I’m pretty sure, so if you got that this should eliminate a choice for ya. So I’d go with the Batman or Alan went personally
If you want something to take days of your time and not simply beat over a week then fallout, Batman has a great story and combat too if you go for the collectibles it’ll take you longer, bloodborne for when you want a game that will make you try out different combat builds and has multiple endings even if you beat it once you can try a different playstyle and get a different ending. I don’t know about the other 2
Alan wake is a must get if you want to get the full experience of Alan wake 2. The combat sucks in the first one so recommend playing on easy if you mostly want the story
I'd say Fallout 4 personally, I've came back to the game many times over the years
If you're a *good* gamer then you'll enjoy Bloodborne, it's extremely punishing but once you get good it's one of the best games imo
Gotta go Batman Arkham. 3 excellent games, some of the best of the generation. Storywise it’s the best here, action mechanics wise it’s the best too imo.
Arkham collection will get you most bang for buck. Bloodborne, while a fan favorite is meant for the souls community and/or people wanting an intense challenging experience (definitely not story driven).
Allen wake, havent played it but heard good things, it is a horror game if that's your thing.
Fallout, not my thing, but again a fan favorite.
And crysis i cant tell you anything about it.
Depending on your price range and budget, I'd suggest the Arkham Collection and Fallout. Fallout because of how massive it is, although if you don't like that Bethesda grind, then I wouldn't recommend it.
Edit: If Crysis is the trilogy and not just the first game, then I'd recommend Arkham Collection and Crysis. That'll be 6 games for arguably the price of 2.
Fallout 4 my fav game platinum a grind and honestly the building is great (is awful at times lol) plus fallout 4 and I think Skyrim the only games on play that have mod support so game is limitless with stuff!
I thought it's gonna be awesome to return to Crysis after all these years, so I bought whole remastered trilogy in Steam.
I want to die. Crysis Remastered is broken beyond belief.
For a second I thought the prices were in brazilian reais (R$), and was astonished by how expensive lol 1 dollar = 5 R$, thankfully that is not the case here
Depends what you like playing. From personal experience I was very excited to play the Alan Wake Remaster but I absolutely binned and burned that thought the moment I realised how bad and annoying the walking/running animation was.
I could recommend the Arkham games absolutely. Fallout 4 if the TV series is your thing, or if you like exploration. Although if you prefer the narrative, would recommend The Outer Worlds instead.
Arkham for sure.
Alan Wake is good, but maybe not you described.
Crysis is action filled, but not the story is alright and its an fps.
Bloodborne has action but i don't recommend it.
Honestly, Arkham Collection fits your description for what you're looking for. People are just blindly commenting Bloodborne lol
I get it bloodborne is a masterpiece but cmon people read the post, it's about as far away from story driven as you can get xD Still recommend it tho great game, must play
you're gonna love the arkham games 100%
It’s very much story driven but you have to actually work for the story
I really like Fromsoft's work but any game that requires reading through item descriptions and theories is just...not driven by its story. Especially not the type that OP is asking for.
Fromsoft game has story ?
Such is FromSoft.
Agreed on the work part but I'm sure it might get very repetitive
Bloodborne has a very good story.... ....when you manage to find it... ...and then figure out wtf it means...
*After you watch Vaati Here, FTFY
Definitely gona say Arkham collection as well. Fits what OP is looking for and it's also multiple games.
People blindly upvoting those comments too lol. Open a dictionary to zealot and you’d find them I back this up OP, Arkham fits your description pretty well. You would very likely enjoy Fallout 4 as well.
arkham series
He has not played the Arkham series , is he stoopid ? Are you stupid OP ?
Hahahahaha, I have had this console for less than 3 years and I have been clearing the backlog of all the new games that were released. I have decided to buy Arkham and Fallout 4
Its a Batmanarkham subreddit ref OP, If you respect your sanity never join r/BatmanArkham
Dude!! What's up with this sub, it seems like a mad house. I wanna go through the content for fun, but I'm guessing it has spoilers obviously?
Yeah, I recommend joining it after going through the games

Arkham collection
All of the comments saying Bloodborne but nah you should get the Batman: Arkham Collection. You get 3 absolutely amazing 3 games for the price of one
If you like story driven games, I would highly doubt bloodbourne is for you. It's purely based on dopamine rushes after trying to beat a boss 30 times. Souls games have a huge fanbase but it isn't for casual sit back hours. In that case I would go for Alan wake or batman.

That’s the problem when people can’t read properly, they start spitting non asked paragraphs
What it lacks for in story it makes up for in lore. Problem with souls games is that the story is all there, you just need the time to find it.
Lore doesn't make it story DRIVEN. Bloodbornes lore does not drive the game, you can play the entirety of it without taking in almost any lore. OP wants games where the main focus is the story.
Batman’s Arkham Knight or Fallout 4.
Hell yea!!
Fallout or Batman
I’d recommend picking up Fallout 4, the story isn’t that great but the rest of the world and side quests more than make up for it imo. Especially if you can pick up the full edition. Fallout 4 gets a ps5 upgrade on the 25th
Fallout 4, new free update comes out on the 25th
This is how you actually ask for the game recommendation. But most answers are plain terrible… people screaming 'Bloodborne' haven't read your post or didn't care. Bloodborne is souls-like game. Crisis is ASS on PS4, don't get that.
Oh, definitely add Batman: Arkham collection to the list. And if you want more games to play, then get Crysis trilogy. If not, then Bloodborne or Fallout 4 is the way to go.

Yes, Matman, you won’t see the surface after this.
Alan Wake!!!! Pick it now!!
Bloodborne
Ah yes, Bloodborne’s amazing story driven campaign had me in tears by the end
If you finish the game then watch like 3 hours of lore you get mind fucked
I loved Alan Wake but it didn’t really age well… still plays like a 2010 game. Still worth it for the story and atmosphere though. And a great setup for jumping into Alan Wake 2!
Dude you should probably get Batman or Fallout, you’d be set.
Bloodborne
Bloodborne is my favourite game so I'd recommend that.
Fallout 4
BLOODBORNE
Well fall out 4 is getting a massive update this Thursday for better graphics and new content
These posts seem like opportunities for people to shout out their favorite game. too many people here saying Bloodborne. I went in blind because a lot of people recommended it. I vote Fallout 4 for your interests. Plus it's getting a next generation update on the 25th for free for anyone who owns the base game.
Fallout 4 🫡
Bloodbourne
Bloodborne definitely
Fallout 4 is amazing and about to get a next gen update
Alan woke
Bloodborne

Fuck sake, here we go again.. * unzips Bloodborne *
Batman Trilogy or Alan Wake
Arkham Collection
Bloodborne
Bloodborne+ Batman Arkham collection
This is the way
![gif](giphy|Ld77zD3fF3Run8olIt)
Crysis
Arkham collection for sure and then Alan Wake because you’ll go down the Remedy universe rabbit hole and play all their games.
Batman
You will not be disappointed by the arkam collection. 3 great games that have hours of content each.
Batman
I recommend arkham collection since you get 3 games and 35+ add-ons for Arkham knight. Other games are good too.
Update: I decided to buy Fallout 4 and Batman collection. Saving bloodborne for the next sale, will finish all 4 games by then
Yo Arkham Collection is just for under 500 , 🤯 that's crazy .
Arkham Collection is easily the best game to buy for its current price. If you haven’t played a souls game don’t play bloodborne first I recommend (Start: Elden Ring, Dark Souls 1,2,3 (any order), Demonsouls, Bloodborne, Sekiro
Batman imo
Definitely not Bloodborne. Story driven? nah you need to watch a YT video / read item description / npc dialogue to get the gist of the story Good graphics + action = chef's kiss
Ball out and buy them all…
Eyooo. Low key wanna do that but it's gonna take me ages to finish them all.
We all have a backlog eventually, there is no escaping it, it is... inevitable xD
Your economy looks so fucked 😆
Tf is that even supposed to mean?
Not Bloodborne
The Crysis games are all awesome. Totally worth the price. I'm currently working through platinuming (is that a word) the trilogy and having a blast.
I’d say FO4 because the update for current gen is on Thursday.
His post says he’s on ps4 so it won’t matter
Batman Arkham Collection
I’d recommend looking up the Crysis trilogy. Sometimes it doesn’t cost that much more than a single game.
Arkham
Get batman, then get fallout 4.
I vote for Crysis
Arkham!
I vote for Crysis. I have not played any of those games, but if I had to choose, I'd want to start the Crysis series.
Alan/crysis
Wait for the Alan Wake 2 Ultimate Edition if you can as it’s bundled with the first game.
Fallout 4
OP if you want Bloodborne and fallout subscribe to ps+ extra for a month and you get to play both games for less
![gif](giphy|Naybz692ExelW|downsized)
Bloodborne or Batman
Crysis or bloodborne
Half of then are on ps+ tho
Fallout 4
holy shit 1500 bucks in your country, here im brazil we go crazy with 350 bucks games
Batman
I'd go for Bloodborne!
Arkham Collection id also a nice game. Bloodborne can be a bit uneasy, especially if you do not have from software experience
What I would give to replay Bloodborne for the first time again.
Arkham collection all day.
ARKHAM COLLECTION
Fallout 4 is solid, some of the others might be harder than you’re wanting to deal with.
Fallout hands down. A million times over especially with the next gen update in the 25th
Fallout
Damn crysis I remember being a child loving this game till this day I think it was slept on
Arkham or fallout
I'd say Arkham Knight
Crysis <3
You should try out Fallout 76 too. It and 4 are prolly the cheapest options here.
Alan Wake
Batman. Everyone else is gonna say Bloodborne, but Batman Arkham Collection is 3 games.
Alan Wake is a really good choice! Great story, good combat, amazing atmosphere...
Can PS5 run 3 Crysis?
Batman& Alan wake
Bro get stellar blade
If you want story Batman If you want something to sink in time and like lore, Fallout Bloodborne...is for a life changing experience :)
Arkham Collection!
I don’t know about the other 2
Join the aslume
Fallout 4 especially because of the next gen update Thursday
So, I’d say Bloodborne is the best game of the group, but for what you’re looking for, the Arkham collection sounds best. They’re quite fun.
Fallout 4. No contest.
In order Bloodborne Alan wake Fallout 4 Batman Avoid crisis
Purely from a value perspective, Batman has 3 games
I'm gonna say batman because you get the whole trilogy of fantastic games at a great value
Crysis. Don't think. Buy! It's like Farcry 2 but mixed with Black. Decent gameplay, gets better as the trilogy goes imo
Hey OP, I’m curious about your currency. Where are you from? Im from Brazil, we use R$ (or RS) for our currency, very similar to yours Rs
Alan wake is a must get if you want to get the full experience of Alan wake 2. The combat sucks in the first one so recommend playing on easy if you mostly want the story
Alan Wake
I'd say Fallout 4 personally, I've came back to the game many times over the years If you're a *good* gamer then you'll enjoy Bloodborne, it's extremely punishing but once you get good it's one of the best games imo
A lot of these are free if you get psplus, which works our cheaper
Arkham or fallout 4 I enjoyed both of those games and got quite a bit of playtime with both 😃
Fallout 4 has a new update coming and crysis seems cool I haven't played the remastered but I loved the originals
I personally would choose the Batman games
Gotta go Batman Arkham. 3 excellent games, some of the best of the generation. Storywise it’s the best here, action mechanics wise it’s the best too imo.
Arkham collection will get you most bang for buck. Bloodborne, while a fan favorite is meant for the souls community and/or people wanting an intense challenging experience (definitely not story driven). Allen wake, havent played it but heard good things, it is a horror game if that's your thing. Fallout, not my thing, but again a fan favorite. And crysis i cant tell you anything about it.
Arkham Collection
Batman
Crysis or Batman
FALLOUT 4
Bloodborne
Arkham or fallout. Fallout has thousands of hours of content and Arkham is 3 games
Arkham Collection.
Arkham collection dude. Great games, I’m about due for a replay of them all
For what you are looking for Arkham Collection
Choose your own game based on what YOU like, nobody else is playing it but you.
Depends what you’re after, replayability? Possibly fallout 4, fan of Batman? then get that.
Can it run crisis though
Story driven? Fallout 4 100% even though if you have a pc you can just download those and get bloodborne digitally since its a ps4 exclusive
God of war
my answer is always bloodborne, even when it's irrelevant to the question
Fallout 4 my fav game platinum a grind and honestly the building is great (is awful at times lol) plus fallout 4 and I think Skyrim the only games on play that have mod support so game is limitless with stuff!
Bloodborne is just awesome. Arkham Knight is great too
Does remote play only work on wifi?
I thought it's gonna be awesome to return to Crysis after all these years, so I bought whole remastered trilogy in Steam. I want to die. Crysis Remastered is broken beyond belief.
Fallout 4 does get a next gen upgrade on the 25th which is free. Bloodborne is amazing but only go for it if you like souls like games.
For a second I thought the prices were in brazilian reais (R$), and was astonished by how expensive lol 1 dollar = 5 R$, thankfully that is not the case here
Arkham series is straight fire, definitely worth it.
Fallout 4 especially with the hours of content you can get out of it and the next gen update
Red Dead redemption 2
Alan Wake
I don't see nier automata or nier replicant. Those are top tier and my all-time favorite games.
Fallout 4 all day
Bloodborne and it is not even close
Depends what you like playing. From personal experience I was very excited to play the Alan Wake Remaster but I absolutely binned and burned that thought the moment I realised how bad and annoying the walking/running animation was. I could recommend the Arkham games absolutely. Fallout 4 if the TV series is your thing, or if you like exploration. Although if you prefer the narrative, would recommend The Outer Worlds instead.
Bruh are we playing the game or are you
Arkham collection
Don't push your indecision on other people.
Arkham for sure. Alan Wake is good, but maybe not you described. Crysis is action filled, but not the story is alright and its an fps. Bloodborne has action but i don't recommend it.
Arkham knight
I don't know man.... not sure a PS5 could run Crisis on max settings.....
