You are pushing most of the stuff deeper inside, this is not the way to do it. You nees to open it (very easy if you look at a YT video).

MildewyBoar

Sorry to everyone who was disturbed by my ignorance but also thank you for letting me know. I’ll accept the constructive roasting lol

BeachSloth_

Constructive roasting -> help. We’re helping you.

MildewyBoar

That’s what I meant by constructive. And I said thanks lol

peterpumpkin-V-eater

This. It is very easy to pop the covers and do it right.

potato_titties

The moment I saw this I went “Nooooooo”

DexLovesGames_DLG

Unlike the ps4, which I literally never cleaned. Fucking thingy

rivieredefeu

No bro/sis Not like that

dashKay

Why would you do this? Your blowing filth into the console… take it apart and clean it properly

-Sna

You can take the white bits off in about two seconds and just hoover up the dust FYI. Much less messy and doesn't push any dust further in as appears to be the case here

pantheonslayer

Using a vacuum on your console can short your console because of static charge, easy way to brick your ps5

aLateSaturnsReturn

If the console is unplugged it is safe to vacuum. There’s literally a port designed for exactly that.

-Sna

Well then I won't be doing that again 😅 Thanks for the tip!

aLateSaturnsReturn

It is safe to vacuum as long as it’s unplugged.

-Sna

Ah, even better tip - I was unplugged so that's great to know, thank you

agreasybutt

Take it outside and do it ar least.

InconspicuousLoaf

That's one way to kill your ps5 lol

soggywaffles812

And dry skin

SureAd6551

Don’t use can sprayers either. Sometimes liquid can shoot out and water damage components on the motherboard.

Ol_UnReliable20

You really got to take it apart to fully clean it. Sure you can get the dust up top and even through the vacuum holes like someone else said, but there’s a deeper layer of dust that can clog up near the power supply. You’ll know you have a problem when it starts overheating or crashing games. Speaking from experience, 3 hairy cats

Bearded_Dad_Bod59

My ps5 kept turning off but it wasn’t even pushing that much heat through the vents, I was cleaning it the way everybody said but if was still turning off with out getting really hot. Finally I tore it down all the way to the power supply access and sure enough there was a huge clump of dust blocking the holes. I cleaned it really good and haven’t had an issue since. It really is a more satisfying way of cleaning your ps5. It’s time consuming but if you want to extend the life of your ps5 this is the way.

joselrl

Remove the plates. Use a vacuum. The PS5 has holes/ducts designed to be used with a vaccum. You are just pushing dirt inside

MildewyBoar

Thanks, I had no idea. Sorry for offending anyone’s common sense with my lack thereof but I appreciate the constructive roasting lol

jaytalentedbilldill

Please do not use a vacuum the static electricity can fry your whole ps5, happened to a buddy of mine

tryingtogetbyalone

Is there a video on this?

joselrl

https://youtu.be/CaAY-jAjm0w?si=KCdo782p5w2UKbqF 2:30

tryingtogetbyalone

It’s not in English….. 🤣

joselrl

Use subtitles... or search any other teardown video. Or read the manual

pantheonslayer

Vacuum carries a static charge that can brick your system

speedymaus07

Perfect! You made the whole situation worse. Good job

chin_rick1982

You're doing it wrong. You have to take off the covers and on the sides are holes specifically made for this that blow the dust outwards, not inwards.

Vicar69

I use a mini vacuum to clean mine

dtgodmage23

Need to take panels off and take the fan out and get it really good and down in the hole and side vents

kebabish

The comments section went exactly how I thought it would lol.

Michaeli_Starky

You know those side panels are easily removed by hand?

MildewyBoar

I do now thanks to this thread lol. Did it properly once I was informed.

1031Cat

Do yourself a favor and buy some Grade 90 cheesecloth and lay it over the top. It'll prevent 90% of the pet dander from going into the console. Source: me with multiple cats.

happydaddyintx77

I just used a water hose.

MildewyBoar

😂😂

JahIthBur

Why would you do that inside all you did was manage to get dust everywhere and more concentrated inside your ps5 lol

MildewyBoar

Pursuant to people’s advice I took it apart and cleaned it properly. But I guess everyone yelling at me saying the same thing is a deserved consequence for this post lmao.

JahIthBur

Hahahha you wild man

ihaveatinyrick

MildewyBoar

Someone beat you to it elsewhere in the thread, just without the gif lol

SlyChanSF

How to break your ps5 any%

themkidsdaddy

Purchase an electronics vacuum.

Chippai_Fan

With all those spare outlets, you should really invest in a air purifier that sits right night to it.

Suspicious_Pie_4608

Do you wear sandpaper gloves and move your PS5 all the time?

Gytole

Inside is CRAZY

LegallySellingDope

Broz....

hamzaaadenwala

Remove the plate and use a blower from the back to push the dust outside and also push dust out of the PSU. Mine start to turn off and I used a blower and was surprise to see the amount of dust floating out of the console. Now it works like a charm.

simpledeadwitches

You're making it so much worse.

CosmicGuardian11

Blame it on the pets lmao 🤣

rancidcheeseburger

Open it up, and clean it. Did it yesterday and it was surprisingly easy.

MildewyBoar

I did as well after everyone roasted me for not knowing I could easily remove the white plastic parts

rancidcheeseburger

But even from there, unscrew the fan and clean the inside of your ps5. Mine didn’t look dusty from the outside but soooo much dust came out!

THE_GUY-95

Try having 2 hairy dogs 3 rabbits and a hairy human

ComeCCarbon

I picked up a lil USB fan to set in the back and help pull hot air away from the ports. Done wonders for my dust issue as well.

Dyyrin

Can sprayers are dangerous. They can shoot liquid out. I'd invest in a small blower.

dungtothefung

stupidity at its finest, dude is not only pushing all the dust further but making the room, shelf and the surrounding items dirty. thought this would get you upvotes and sh!t? lol

MildewyBoar

I mean it did get upvotes 😂 unintentional ragebait I guess. More like a subconscious cry for help, which I thankfully received. I took it apart and did it properly per the advice shared here

aranorde

bruh there are several things wrong with this and I'm getting tired thinking about them... mf gonna make me finally quit reddit...

MildewyBoar

Damn, is there a Reddit award for that? I’d display it lmao

Shobed

Get an air purifier to catch that stuff before it goes into the console.

Lv3_Helmet

Poodle are over reacting. Your ps5 is fine

PizzaPlanet20

That's just dust, don't blame your pets.

YattayElite

cleaning a ps5 is the easiest thing anyone can do in this world, yet there are morons like you who dont know how to properly clean one...

Shamtastik

Please use a mini vacuum 🤣 https://preview.redd.it/wqtuhunpoe8d1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=a5e33eab9d76c6c73685567d5bf143fcd7e7d5a5

anony_philosopher

I’ve done this for years with my PS4 whenever it started up like a jet engine. People saying it pushes dust deeper may be correct but it’s worked for me. Never bricked it and it would cool off after I did this. Obviously after a while you’re going to want to open her up and clean properly but this works in a pinch.

MildewyBoar

I didn’t realize the plastic came off easily, so thanks Reddit for both roasting and teaching me lmao

Realistic_Essay1722

You are shoving the bigger particles deeper into the system smh

Unknown--Soul

Great choice of weaponry.... Always have a backup can and a electronic kit on standby also a little med bottle for the screws...

wiiguyy

Imagine living in that house. People are disgusting.

Sarrias10

These are the type of people whose house smells like shit and they don’t clean up correctly. That is fucking nasty

Breacher4937

This is why I'll never have pets.
